Lucia Veliz
Lucia Veliz, age 19, passed away Friday evening, April 14, 2006 at her residence in Odessa, TX.  She was born Monday, September 15, 1986 to Pablo and Gabriela Guerrero Veliz in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.  She was a very outgoing, cheerful girl, who was full of life and beloved by those around her.  She was a young mother, who loved her baby boy dearly.  She was a member of Fundamente Sobre La Rocka.

Those left to cherish her memory include: her father, Pablo Veliz of Juarez, Mexico, her step-father and mother, Victor Gonzalez and Gabriela (Guerrero) Veliz of Odessa, her partner, Jesus Gonzalez, Jr. and their son, Luis Carlos Gonzalez; and three sisters, Norma Veliz of Midland, TX, Adriana Peña of San Antonio, TX, and Gabriela Veliz of Odessa, TX.

A prayer service in her memory will be held 7:00 pm Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.  Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Fundamente Sobre La Rocka with Pastor Arturo Salinas officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

David Mitchell "Tattoo Dave" Verlander

David Mitchell "Tattoo Dave" Verlander, age 45, passed away Friday evening, April 14, 2006 in Odessa. He was born Sunday, November 27, 1960 in Catskill, NY to Donald Michael and Margaret Jane (Spaulding) Verlander.

Dave was a man who loved telling jokes and being the jokester, but, there was a softer side to Tattoo Dave; one who had a big heart and tried to help and donate to charities. He enjoyed fishing, playing the piano and singing and was a devoted Jackalope Hockey fan, who could be heard by all. He attended the Agape Dream Center.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are wife, Janice Verlander of Odessa, one son, David Alan Verlander of Odessa; two daughters; Beth Ann Verlander of Odessa and Raegan Verlander of Pittsburgh, PA; his mother, Margaret Jane Verlander of Stuart, FL; one brother; Donald M. Verlander of Farmersville, TX; three sisters, Denise M. Verlander and Diane M. Jimenez both of San Antonio and Donna M. Earsley of Jensen Beach, FL.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation is scheduled from 8 am to 8 pm, Tuesday, April 18, 2006 and from 8 am to 4 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, with Funeral Service scheduled at 4 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2006. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Audrey Lee (Chambers) Moore
Our precious, loving mother and grandmother, Audrey Lee (Chambers) Moore, left us on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at the age of 86 years, 19 days, to join her heavenly Father and her loved ones waiting for her. She was born Tuesday, April 13, 1920 in Benjamin, Knox County, Texas to Todd Robinson and Lila Bell (Jackson) Chambers, who preceded her in death.

Audrey married Virgil David Moore on October 10, 1942 in San Saba, Texas, and they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. She had three children Joel David Moore and wife, Patricia; two Daughters, Jacki Campbell and husband, Bryan and Robbie McGuire and husband Walt.

She was blessed with eight grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. They are David Campbell, Gina Coppedge, Jennifer O’Neil, Renee Roberts, Wendy Broseh, Stormy Evans, Joel Moore and Tiffany Martin. Her blessings continued with twelve great grandchildren, Genifer Stacker, Gerron McClure, Nikki Maldonado, Brodee Barbee, Codee Coppedge, Jordee Coppedge, Terron Barbee, Justin Evans, Cade Coppedge, Chelby Coppedge, Samantha Moore and Christopher O’Neil. Still more blessings poured forth with her precious great-great grandchildren. A special great-great grandson, Mason Stacker, she kept for the first two years of his life. She also has Landon Maldonado, Garrett Stacker and Blayke Maldonado. Her first great-great granddaughter and her namesake is Audree Nevaeh Barbee, whom she never got to hold. She has another great-great granddaughter on the way, Jacelyn Jo McClure.

Audrey was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, one brother, Bruce Terry Chambers, one sister, Juanita Chambers and her first born granddaughter Glenda Campbell Barbee.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren. Audrey is also survived by her younger sister, Mary Ratliff of Llano, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mother always put her family before everything else. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren dearly. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She loved sewing, reading, walking briskly and enjoying her life with her family until her illness stole these things from her. We love you dearly, and miss you terribly, but we know you are at peace now, free of pain.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2006 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas, Odessa; Cook Children’s Hospital, 801 Seventh Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76104 or the Scottish Rite Children Hospital, PO Box 199300, Dallas, Texas 75210-9300 or charity of choice.

Audrey’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Avalon Nursing Home for their loving care provided to her in her time of need. With special thanks to her dear friend, Fay Boone. They would also like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Home Hospice of Odessa, with special thanks to her favorite pastor, Dr. Jimmy Braswell.

Irene (Woullard) Griffith
Irene (Woullard) Griffith, age 97, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, May 02, 2006, at Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Ollie Lee and Sally (Kiser) Woullard.

Irene had a kind and generous heart and never had a bad word to say about any person. She always loved to talk politics with anyone who wanted to take the time. Irene enjoyed education and taught school for many years.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are one brother, Connie Woullard of Odessa; two sisters, Audie Anderson of Kermit and Donnie Morris of Odessa, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Griffith, one brother, Horace C. Woullard and three sisters, Elsie Pagan, Ada Page and Iris Lea Ray.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, May 05, 2006 at Kermit Cemetery with Reverend Loren Gardner officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice House, 903 N Sam Houston, Odessa, 79761.

Alvie Parker “Porkey” Asbury, II

Alvie Parker “Porkey” Asbury, II, age 50, of Odessa went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 4th. Mr. Asbury was a long time resident of Odessa, where he enjoyed many of life’s great treasures. He loved spending time with his many life long friends and family. He has been a pipeline welder for 30 years and loved every minute of it. He took great delight in spending many weekends on the road with his son Alvie Asbury III in their team roping challenges. In all his travels between the roping and the welding he has seen many lands many of us never will.

He was born to Alvie and Tennie Asbury on January 15th of 1956. He had a fairy tale marriage for thirty years with the wonderful lady Brenda Kay Wilson Asbury and they had three beautiful children together. He enjoyed the many relationships he developed while working for Chevron, Holloman, and many other pipeline companies.

He was preceded in death by his mother Tennie Lee Miller Asbury of Odessa,  father Alvie Parker Asbury  of Odessa, brother Elbin Adam Asbury of Anson, and nephew Sam Thomas Patton.

He leaves behind long time love of his life, wife Brenda Kay Wilson Asbury, and three children Alvie III, Andrew, and daughter Amanda. Sister Cleda S. Patton and C.B. Barbour of San Antonio. Niece Amy and John White III and their children John IV and Remy, and brother Steven Asbury and Sherry of Arlington with children Samantha of Atlanta, GA., Jason and Amanda Newcomb and Casey Newcomb of Arlington. His sister-in-law Cynthia Asbury and children Ryan Asbury both of Abilene and Blake LeBaron of Las Vegas, NV. Mother-in-law Frances Wilson, Rhonda, Mike, Matt, and Morgan Caley all of Odessa, and Jimmie, Judy, Ben, Nick, Jennifer, Meegan, and Jared.

Services will be held at West Odessa First Baptist Church on Monday, May 8th at 10:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd on Sunday, May 7th from 2 to 4 p.m.

Ricardo Tercero
Ricardo Tercero, age 77, of Odessa, passed away Monday, May  8, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born April 3, 1929 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose and Lucia (Hernandez) Tercero.

He is survived by his wife Agripina (Huerta) Tercero; one daughter: Rosa Tercero of San Carlos; five sons: Enrique Tercero of Lawndale, Calif., Jose Tercero and Manuel Tercero both of Odessa, Cornelio Tercero and Ricardo Tercero, Jr. both of Ojinaga; three sisters: Francisca Lujan of Kermit, Manuelita Valdez of Los Alamos, NM and Guadalupe Tavarez of Ojinaga; one brother: Antonio Tercero of Ojinaga; Twenty Three grandchildren and Fifteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at Funeraria De Valle at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2006 . Interment will follow at Jardines De San Jose in Ojinaga, Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Esperanza Patino
Esperanza Patino, age 51, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Hospice House. She was born Wednesday, December 22, 1954 in Artesia, Eddy County, New Mexico to the late Gonzalo and Jesusita (Estrada) Hernandez.

A homemaker, Esperanza met and married Caterino Patino in July 2000. She loved to cook and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Those left behind to cherish her love and memories are her husband Caterino Patino of Odessa; one son, Freddie Patino; four Daughters, Jessica Garcia Martinez and husband, Robert, Josie Garcia Fierro and husband, Sonny, Lori Bernard and husband, Jerry, and Michelle Patino of all of Odessa; four brothers, Alfredo Hernandez and wife, Mary, Salvador Hernandez and wife, Tenchie all of Hobbs, NM, Robert Hernandez of Odessa, and Johnny Hernandez of Chicago, Illinois; two sisters, Rosa Bueno and husband, Pete and Elodia Hernandez all of Hobbs, NM. She also leaves behind twenty two grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by one brother Oscar Hernandez.

Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, May 15, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Pastor Clark Racca officiating, assisted by Esperanza’s brother, Salvador Hernandez.  Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Herminia (Contreras) Bejarano

Herminia (Contreras) Bejarano, age 66, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at her residence in Andrews, Texas.

 

SURVIVORS: five sons, Luis Manuel Bejarano and Marcello Bejarano both of Andrews, Domingo Bejarano and Marcos Bejarano both of Midland, and Oved Bejarano of Monahans; three daughters, Maria Tarango of Andrews, Maria Luisa Bejarano of Van Horn, and Rosalda Bejarano of Midland, one sister, Eduvijes Salcido of Andrews; two brothers, Manuel Contreras of Odessa, and Octavio Contreras of Carlsbad, NM; twenty six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 

A homemaker, she was born April 25, 1940 in Mexico.

 

Prayer service is scheduled for 7 pm, Monday, May 15, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Monte Bustillos Cemetario in El Mulato, Ojinaga, Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

Margarita Gonzalez
Margarita Gonzalez, age 85, of Odessa, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Albert Gonzalez and the late Felipa (Rodriguez) Gonzalez.

Services were held at 4:30 pm, Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

James Richard "J. R." Wilson

James Richard "J. R." Wilson, long time resident of Odessa went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2006. He was born Sunday, July 29, 1928 in Paint Rock, Concho County, Texas, to Albert Wade and Minnie Mae (Jackson) Wilson.
 
J. R. moved to Odessa in 1945 where he met the love of his life, Mary Roxie Thompson, who he married in 1946. He started work as a welder with J & J Steel and Odessa Pump where he remained for many years. In 1955, J. R. became a member of the H. A. McFarland Lodge #1338 A. F. & A. M. He and his wife were members of the Fountain Of Life Missionary.
 
Those left behind to cherish his love and memories are his wife Roxie Wilson of Odessa; three daughters, Georgia Landers and Darva Earnest both of Odessa, and Toni Perry of Dallas, three sons, Jimmy R Wilson of Dallas, Stanley Wilson of Austin, and Matthew Landers of Odessa, two sisters, Barbara Burgin of Charlotte, N.C. and Julia Windham of Cloveland, Fla., one brother, John Windham of Gardendale, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, May 26, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
