Petra Molinar Lopez

Petra Lopez, long time resident of Kermit departed this earthly world on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Seabury Nursing Center in Odessa. She was born Saturday, December 13, 1913 in Presidio, Texas to Silverio and Raquel (Montes) Molinar. She was 92.

A loving mother and grandmother, Petra loved to cook and was good at it. Although her tortillas, not always perfectly round and usually ending up looking like road maps with holes in them, they were still the best. In her younger days, she would get on the floor with the grandchildren and make clay animals.

Petra was a jokester, always pulling some type of joke on an unsuspecting soul. There was a tender, loving side to her also, like the time she gave the grandkids a penny for each gray hair they pulled out of her head – knowing all along it was oftentimes the same hair. Or the smile she hid when she found that one of the grandsons had used her best Sunday-go-to-meeting shoes to play football in.

Petra was dearly loved by all. Her passing will leave a hole in everyone’s hearts. Those left behind to cherish her love and memories are five sons, Joe “Sonny” Lopez and wife, Esther of Kermit, Eddie Lopez of Midland, Palermo Jay Lopez and wife, Luli of Azle, Texas, Freddie Don Lopez and wife, Cindy of Houston and Roland Lopez and wife, Sara of Odessa and one daughter, Pauline Lopez of Odessa.
