Brenten Lee Miller

Brenten Lee Miller, age 30, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Houston, Texas. He was born Wednesday, September 29, 1976 in Odessa..

Brenten graduated from Permian High School in 1995 and had been living and working in Houston as a corporate salesman for an electrical energy company.  He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting.  He participated in pistol marksmanship competitions.  He attended church in Odessa with his parents at Westover Baptist Church.

Those left to mourn his loss include his parents:  Brad and Sandra Miller of Gardendale; his maternal grandparents:  Charles and Artie Lauraine of Odessa; his paternal grandparents:  Jack and Mitzi Miller of Anson, TX; his aunts and uncles:  Daryl and Michelle Beach of Georgetown, TX, Randall J. and Rena Miller of Abilene, TX, Bill and Barbara Mulkey of Rosenberg, TX, Jacky and Debbie Dunn of Wichita Falls, TX, Danny and Diana Fudge of Holiday, TX, and David Hull of Dallas, TX; numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friends:  Mikey and Meagan Milam and family.

The family will receive visitors at Acres West Funeral Chapel 8115 West University on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Westover Baptist Church with Brother Terry Wright officiating. Pallbearers are Mikey Milam, Todd Weaver, Randal Miller, Trenton Miller, Terry Henkell, and Blane Shuffield. Shirley Mitchell

Shirley R. Mitchell departed this life on Sunday, July 1, 2007 from Regency Hospital of Odessa. She entered this life, Monday, June 29, 1936 in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana to the late Dennis Lee and Fannie Mae (McKinley) Brady.  Shirley and her family had just celebrated her 71st birthday.

Shirley was a homemaker, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.  She liked to embroider and cook.  Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; especially the grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

Those left to cherish her love and memories include five sons:  Dale Mitchell and wife Wendy, Melvin Mitchell, Bobby Anderson and wife Brandy, and Christopher Anderson, all of Odessa, and Tommy Mitchell and wife Kathy of Midland; three daughters:  Betty Cronwell and husband Lee of Odessa, Sylvia Anderson and husband Raymond of Rock Springs, WY, and Sara Henderson of Midland; two brothers:  James Brady of August, SC and Thomas Brady of Odessa; three sisters:  Dorothy Brady, Bert Parvis, and Diane Cook all of Monroe, LA; twenty-six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as two great son-in-laws and one great daughter-in-law.

Barbara Ann Robertson

Barbara Ann Robertson departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 2, 2007. She entered this life, Thursday, February 12, 1959 in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas to Georgie Avis (Stucker) Robertson and the late Simon James Robertson.

Barbara was a member of the Pentecostal Church.  She loved the outdoors.  She was very family oriented and loved to spend her time with family, especially the kids.  She was a good friend, always willing to help someone out when they needed a hand.  Barbara was a workaholic, who worked for 16 years with Holloman Construction.  She could be described as “Dynamite in a small package.”  Her biggest and latest challenge was a four and a half year battle with breast cancer.  Although she was strong-willed and stubborn as hell, she finally gave in.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are one son:  James Lee Robertson; two daughters:  Georgie Ann Robertson and Jamie Lynn Robertson, all of Odessa; three brothers:  Haskell Robertson and Robert Robertson Sr., both of Brownfield, TX, and Jessie Robertson of Llano, TX; one sister:  Avis DePoyster of Brownfield; and three grandchildren:  Denver, Nicole, and Brehanna Robertson; and many friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday July 5, 2007 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Laveta Shelton officiating. Olga Falcon

Olga Falcon, age 46, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.   She was born Saturday, September 24, 1960 in Ojinaga, Mexico.  She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her mother - Emelda Rodriguez of Odessa; grandmother - Dolores Burrola of Greeley, CO;  two sons - Osvaldo Porras and Josue Porras both of Odessa; one daughter - Yuri Muro of Odessa; five brothers - Raymundo Falcon of Greeley, CO, Ernesto Falcon, Arnulfo Falcon, Octavio Falcon, and Armando Falcon, all of Odessa, and Ramon Falcon of Ojinaga, Mexico; one sister - Josefina Sosa of Odessa; and five grandchildren:  Danny and Itzen Muro, and Johnathan, Josue, and Kimberly Porras.

Rosary will be said 7 pm Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Friday, July 6, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Father Joe Uecker.  Pallbearers will be Jose Muro, Osvaldo Porras, Josue Porras, Octavio Falcon, Arnulfo Falcon, and Ernesto Falcon.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of West Odessa.

Steven Elam

Steven Dawayne Elam, age 49, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  Steven was a Granbury, TX resident who worked as an oilfield electrician.  He was born Friday, March 7, 1958 in Cortez, CO to Billy Gene Elam and Joanie Rheinhart Elam.  He married Jeanne Pilgrim February 13, 1987.

He is survived by his wife - Jeanne Elam of Granbury, TX; father - Bill Elam and wife Jeanie of Odessa; mother - Joanie Bush of Apache Junction, AZ; three daughters - Jaclyn Elam of Granbury, TX, Tosha Elam of Silver City, NM, and Summer Elam of Odessa; two brothers - Ronnie Elam of Apache Junction, AZ and Richy Elam of Odessa; four sisters - Connie Harris of San Antonio, TX, Pam Buford of The Colony, TX, Vicky Roselle of Apache Junction, AZ, and Julie Cichy of Plano, TX; and one granddaughter, Madison.

A family gathering will be 2 pm Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of West Odessa.

 

Billy N. Davis

Billy N. Davis, age 76, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at his residence in Odessa.  He was born Wednesday, May 6, 1931 in Big Springs, Saint Clair County, AL to the late Clayton and Madlue (Scroggins) Davis. He married the love of his life, Margaret Keese, in Monahans June 12, 1959.  She preceded him in death November 7, 2002.

Billy was a roughneck in the oilfield.  He was well known by his fellow oilfield workers for his practical jokes.  He had a wide variety of interests, spanning from the outdoorsman’s love of fishing and shooting guns to drinking coffee with friends (especially Ronnie and Jeff) and spying on his neighbors.  He liked to play games like dominoes and poker.  He also enjoyed his pet dogs and loved musical instruments.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters:  Betty Gail Whitlock and Norma Jean Davis, both of Oklahoma City, and Billie Ellen Wells and Bamm Williams, both of Odessa; one brother:  James Davis of Riverside, CA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife: Margaret Davis; his parents:  Clayton and Madlue Davis; one son:  Billy N. Davis, Jr.; and two brothers:  Melton and RoyLee Davis.

Visitation at Acres West Funeral Chapel begins 2:00 pm Saturday, July 14, 2007.  Graveside services will be held 10:00 am Monday, July 16, 2007 at Monahans Cemetery in Monahans, TX.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. Condolences to the family may be sent at acreswestfuneral.com.

Nettie P. Mirike

Nettie P. Mirike departed this life on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from her residence in Odessa. She entered this life, Friday, September 21, 1923 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas to the late Ivan Nolan and Ethel (Liles) McLemore.

Nettie was a member of the Westover Baptist Church.  She was also an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her love and memories include two sons:  Jim Weathers of Peachtree City, GA and Roy Weathers of Odessa; one daughter:  Judy Stuart of Bastrop, TX; a brother:  Wayne McLemore of Midland; one sister:  Ruby McKee of San Marcos, TX; eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents:  Ivan and Ethel McLemore; one daughter:  Patsy Alene Gray in 1975; and three brothers:  Travis McLemore, Jimmy McLemore, and Ivan Nolan McLemore, Jr.

Graveside services are set for 10:00 am Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jim Weathers officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of West Odessa.  Memorials in Nettie’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Javier Benavidez

Javier Benavidez, age 29 of Odessa passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 at his residence.  He was born Friday, August 19, 1977 in Pecos, Reeves County, Texas to Ruben and Susan (Rodriguez) Benavidez.

Javier loved to spend time with family; his wife, kids and parents.  He liked cars and worked as a shop hand for Metal Mart.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his loving parents:  Ruben and Susan Benavidez of Odessa; his grandfather Alfredo Rodriguez of Odessa; grandmother:  Roma Benavidez of Pecos; his wife:  Elizabeth Benavidez of Odessa; one son:  Javier Benavidez of Odessa; two daughters:  Amarie and Alyssa Benavidez of Odessa; one brother:  Ruben Benavidez of Odessa; and three sisters:  Debbie Benavidez, Korina Benavidez, and Cristy Benavidez, all of Odessa.

Rosary was said 7:00 pm, Monday and Tuesday nights at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Nilo Nalugon as celebrant. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Ruben Benavidez II, Joe Morales, Ricky Morales, Christopher Benavidez, JoJo Benavidez, Richie Ramos, Saul Benavidez, and Alex Villa. Honorary pallbearers include Ruben Jr. Benavidez III, Andy Vasquez, and Matias Patino.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of West Odessa.

Antonio Juarez

Antonio Juarez, age 76, of Odessa died July 22, 2007 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born May 21, 1931 in Kerr County, TX.  He was a farmer.

Mr. Juarez is survived by his wife - Maria Juarez of Odessa; parents - Antonio and Narcissa Juarez of Fredericksburg, TX; ten children; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will take place at Ultimo Adios Cemetery in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico at a later date.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa and Funeraria de Valle in Ojinaga.

James D. Carrasco

James D. Carrasco, age 37, passed from this life Monday, July 23, 2007 in Galveston, TX.  He was born Tuesday,June 2, 1970 in Odessa, TX to Benito and Linda (Dutchover) Carrasco.

James is survived by his parents - Benito O. and Linda Carrasco of Odessa; seven children:  James Carrasco, Joshua Torres, Brandon Torres, Cody Salcido, Coby Salcido, Jasmine Salcido, and Daffany Salcido; two brothers - Joel D. Carrasco and Benito Carrasco, Jr. both of Odessa; and one sister - JoAna Tinsley and husband Neil of Brady, TX.

Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Acres West Funeral Chapel of West Odessa.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 pm Friday, July 27, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father Joe Uecker.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of West Odessa.

Diana Jane Armstrong

Diana Jane Armstrong, age 63 of Odessa peacefully left to be with her loving Father and Savior on Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Jane was born September 05, 1943 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas to Walter Quentin and Mary Louise (Taylor) McDaniel.

A longtime resident of Odessa, Jane was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She was formerly employed by Ector County ISD Food Service.

Those left behind to cherish her love and memories are her three daughters, Andrea Veteto and husband, Freddie of Rockwall, Texas, Michelle Wilkins and husband, David of Spring, Texas and Shana Killian of Graford, Texas, her mother, Louise McDaniel of Odessa, one brother Sammy McDaniel and wife, Diane, of Monahans, her sister Mary Ellen McDaniel and her twin sister, June Blair both of Odessa. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris Boulware of Carrolton, Texas, Chase Glidwell of Las Vegas, Nevada and Danielle, Lucas and Juliana Wilkins all of Spring, Texas.

Jane was preceded in death by her father, Walter McDaniel.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, July 27, 2007 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Bible Baptist Church with Brother John Lyons officiating. Interment will be privately held at Monahans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Hospice or Hospice House of Odessa.

Claude Eugene Everett, Sr.   

Claude Eugene Everett, Sr., age 81, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at his residence in Odessa, Ector County, Texas. He was born Thursday, March 11, 1926 in Brackettville, Kinney County, Texas to William Washington and Anna (Ward) Everett.  Claude served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army.  December 3, 1954, he married the love of his life, Gladys Ridgway.  Together they raised four children.  Previously Snyder residents, they moved to Odessa in 1986.

Mr. Everett was a rancher.  He worked at Five Star Diesel in Odessa for ten years.  He was an old cowboy who loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time in the Ft. Davis Mountains.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish his love and memories include his wife: Gladys Everett of Odessa; three sons:  Lane Everett, Gene Everett, and Clay Everett, all of Odessa; one daughter:  Beth Aaron of Ft. Stockton; two sisters:   Irene Roberts of Ft. Stockton and Margie Haynes of Monahans; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents:  William and Anna Everett; four brothers and one sister.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at East Hill Cemetery in Ft. Stockton with Brother Felix Kneupper officiating. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of West Odessa.
