Mary Earl Smith
Mary Earl Smith, age 88, died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Crane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crane, TX.  She was born July 2, 1919 in Canton, TX to Esther and Elizabeth (Dillard) Eubanks.  She had retired as a bookkeeper with RC Cola.
 
Survivors include one son: Wendell Smith and wife Lois of Odessa; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and 18 great great-grandchildren.
 
Services - A Family Visitation will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel Friday, November 16, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Graveside Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo, TX.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa, TX.

Arvel Ray Crump

Arvel Ray Crump passed from this life on Monday, November 19, 2007 at Hospice of East Texas Home Place in Tyler, TX at the age of 82. He was born Saturday, January 3, 1925 in a tent in Motley County, TX to Raynard and Alma Lou (Hastings) Crump.

He was a US Army paratrooper for the 11th Airborne serving in the Philippines and Japan during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married the love of his life, Paralee Estelle Austin, January 15, 1951 in Dallas County and they had two children. He retired as operator of the American Portable Building Company in Odessa after 25 years.

Arvel is survived by his loving wife:  Estelle Crump of Lindale, TX; son:  Billy Ray Crump of Lindale, TX; daughter:  Tonia Lusk and husband David of Aurora, CO; grandson:  Daniel Lusk of Aurora, CO; and nine siblings:  Lloyd Crump of Lewisville, TX, Nelda Jones of Homer, AK, Roberta Caballero of Irving, TX, Verna Powell of Forney, TX, Harvey Crump and Richard Crump, both of Odessa, TX, Johnny Crump of Farmington, NM, and Donny Mackey and Max Crump, both of Memphis, TX.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice of East Texas for all of their help.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Friday and Saturday and from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday afternoon.  Funeral services are set for 10:00 am Monday, November 26, 2007 at Northside Baptist Church of Odessa with Brother Clydel Chapman officiating.   Interment will follow at Los Angeles Cemetery.

Billie Lanice Bryan

Billie Lanice Bryan, age 62 of Odessa, died Monday, November 19, 2007 at Hospice House of Odessa.  She was born November 27, 1944 in Stamford, TX to Melvin and Mettie (Simpkins) Dominey.

She was a retired night manager for Dairy Queen.  Affectionately known as “Niecey”, she loved children and faithfully supported needy children.  She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

She was loved and will be missed by three sisters - Rachel Jan Pitchford of Odessa and Joyce Peel and Judy Courtney, both of Caldwell, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, November 23, 2007 at Western Roses Memorial Park.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Donations in Niecey’s memory may be made to Home Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston Ave., Odessa, TX 79761.

David Owens

David Owens, age 47, of Odessa went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 20, 2007. 

Mr. Owens was born February 4, 1960 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. David moved to Odessa, Texas when he was two years old. He enjoyed jokes, living life to the fullest and spending time with family and friends. He loved to fish even when they weren’t biting. David always seemed to have a sixth sense, and managed to show up when his friends and family needed him most.  David was a hard worker and a loving man.  He will be missed by many. 

Survivors include his mother: Ruth Owens Rogge of Odessa; two children: Alicia Owens and David Owens Jr.; sister: Debra King; one great nephew, one great niece; and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by one brother. 

David was a US Army Veteran.

Services with military honors will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University on Friday - November 23, 2007 at 4:00 P.M. Services will be led by Rev. Alvin Petty.

Dustin Walker Graham

Dustin Walker Graham, age 23, of Odessa died November 21, 2007 in Wichita Falls, TX.  He was born August 22, 1984 in Archer City, TX.

He is survived by his mother:  Sherry Deutch of Odessa; father:  Charles Graham Jr. and wife Rosa of Robinson, TX; grandparents:  Ron Saverance, Joyce Saverance, and Juannell Deutch, all of Odessa and Charles and Shirley Graham of Wichita Falls, TX; two brothers:  Charles Michael Graham and Christopher Graham of Robinson, TX; and one sister:  Jessica Nicole Graham of Odessa.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 29, 2007 at New Life Church, 7184 Club Drive, Odessa, TX with Tim Halstead officiating.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jose Hector Estrada
Jose Hector Estrada, age 64, died November 25, 2007 at his residence in Odessa.  He was a construction laborer.  He was born September 11, 1943 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.
 
Survivors - Father:  Idelfonso Montoya of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico; Daughter:  Alexa Estrada of El Paso, TX; Brothers:  Efrain Estrada, Manuel Estrada, and Jose Benavides, all of Odessa, Martin Benavides of El Paso and Guillermo Benavides of Presidio, TX; sisters:  Josefina Loera of Presidio, TX, Bertha Lidia Garcia of Odessa, Blanca Montoya of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, Elizabeth Montoya and Velia Montoya, both of Distreto Federale, Mexico.
 
Services - Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 am Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Joe Uecker as celebrant.  Interment followed at Los Angeles Cemetery in Odessa.

William B. Wornica

William B. Wornica, age 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from the Hospice House in Odessa, TX on November 26, 2007. 

He was born on September 23, 1939 in Owensboro, Kentucky where he grew up and graduated from high school.  At age 18, he and his family moved to Weatherford, TX, where he lived and worked for the next 50 years.  He worked in his own lawn mower repair business and also made outdoor furniture.  Bill enjoyed music and loved to play the electric guitar and harmonica, which he learned to play by ear without any lessons.  Most of all, he loved to tell everyone he met about Jesus and how he always felt blessed by God to be able to pay for his bills and meals.  Bill lived a very humble and simple life in Weatherford, walking most everywhere he went, and he had no desire for material possessions, but would instead give them away to someone he felt needed them more.  He attended Baptist and Methodist churches in Weatherford throughout his life. 

Bill's niece, Christine McClendon of Odessa, TX wishes to thank all of those who helped Bill in any way over the years.  She and many others will surely miss him dearly until they see him again in Heaven.  Bill is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Eaton of El Paso and Doris Earussi of Oregon, three nieces, and two nephews. 

Graveside services will be held 1:30 pm at Los Angeles Cemetery in Odessa, TX officiated by Ivy Shelton.  In lieu of flowers, please send any written condolences, stories or appreciation for Bill to Christine McClendon at 3632 E. Everglade, Odessa, TX 79762.

Billy R. "Bill" Norman, Sr.
Billy R. "Bill" Norman, Sr. died Monday, November 26, 2007 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was a self employed roofer.  He was born April 3, 1933 in Selman City, Rusk County, Texas to Roy and Lettie (Faulkner) Norman.
 
Billy is survived by his mother:  Lettie Norman of Odessa; son:  Bill Norman, Jr. and wife Monica of Lockhart, TX; three daughters:  Deborah Fulton and husband Jay of Midland, Becky and Lisa; sister:  Lavaughn Ross of Odessa; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and his wife:  Ollie Ann Norman.

 
Graveside Services will be 10 am Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Brother Thompson officiating.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Baby Adryan Samaniego

On Friday, November 30, 2007 a precious angel was called back to the Lord to be with him in Heaven.  Adryan Samaniego passed away at Medical Center Hospital after being with us for only 2 precious days. He was born  Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Medical Center Hospital to Huber Samaniego and Jacquelin Salazar. 

 

In addition to his loving parents, Adryan is survived by his grandparents:  Huber and Elodia Samaniego of Odessa, and Huge and Rebecca Salazar of Andrews.

 

Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Andrews Cemetery. Services were entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Baby Jervonté Julius “J.J.” Moore

Jervonté Julius Moore “J.J.”, born October 29, 2007 and went to be with the Good Lord above on December 2, 2007.   He only was with us a short time he will be GREATLY missed.  He was born in Dallas Texas.  J.J. was born in Dallas so he could go to Children’s Medical Center.  He underwent heart surgery on November 2, 2007 and our family was told then he needed a heart transplant.  He was unable to make it and his main organs began to shut down.

 

“J.J.” is the 3rd child born to Tony Moore & Regina Green. He is also survived by two siblings Anya Moore and Tony E. Moore Jr. both of Odessa, his Maternal Grandparents Lora Draughn of Odessa and Jimmy Green of Hobbs, New Mexico; Paternal Grandparents Bobbie and Anthony Rabon Of Abilene, Maternal Great-Grandparents Hazel Draughn of Odessa, D.C. & Alta Green of Hobbs, New Mexico and Paternal Great-Grandparents Larry & Sharion Moore of Abilene.

 

He is also survived by his Aunt Ginger Farris & Uncle Lional Green of Odessa, and Aunt Alexis Moore & Uncle Lance Moore of Abilene.

 

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 pm, Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Western Roses Memorial Park. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 West University, Odessa TX.

 

Superman, you spent a short time with us and put up a hard fight in such a short time. You are so greatly loved and will be missed even more. Be at peace, Superman.
