Donald Gale "Doc" Gibbs, age 82, of Odessa passed away December 21, 2007. He was born August 21, 1925 in Grande Lodge, MI to Mark and Nellie (Putterille) Gibbs. He was a chiropractor.
Doc leaves no surviving family, but a host of friends.
A service of committal for Donald Gibbs will be held Saturday January 26th at 10 a.m. in St. Francis' Chapel of St. John's Episcopal Church, 401 West County Road, the Rev. Laura Deaderick officiating.
|Yvonne “Blu” Truelock|
Yvonne “Blu” Truelock, 54, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Hospice House in Odessa, TX after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 10, 1953 in Raton, NM where she lived until her marriage to Robbie Truelock on July 22, 2006. “Blu” loved to work and worked her entire life. She was a very caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who always put her family first.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robbie Truelock of Odessa; one son, Gilbert “Madison” Mares, Jr. and wife Carol of Raton, NM and one daughter, Camille Medina of Odessa, TX. She is also survived by her parents, Arthur and Adelina Segura of Raton, NM; four brothers: Arthur Segura, Jr. and wife June, Leo Segura and wife Nancy, Leonard Segura and wife Loretta, all of Raton, NM and Raul Segura and wife Rhonda of Omaha, NE, and three sisters: Nancy Valdez, Marcella Gonzales and husband Ronnie, and Amelia Vigil and husband Gilbert, all of Raton, NM. She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren: Jesse Mares of Raton, NM, Cory Truelock, Dustin Zuniga, and Brendi Lyles, all of Bastrop, TX, her mother-in-law, Maurice Truelock, and brother-in-law, James Lee Truelock and wife LaDonna, all of Odessa. All these family members as well as her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will forever cherish her memory.
The family will receive visitors Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel 8115 W. University Blvd. in Odessa and Monday, January 7, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton. Services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raton, NM. Rosary will be said at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 8, 2008 with Mass following at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Raton, NM.

Thoys Lee Beggs, age 74, passed from this life Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Deerings Nursing & Rehabilitation Home in Odessa, TX. He was born August 12, 1933 in Gustine, TX to Tolbert and Verna (York) Beggs. He was retired from oil field sales. He was also a US Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by one daughter: LaDonna Conklin and husband Danny of Odessa; one sister: Gladys Holland of San Antonio; two grandchildren: Dustin Conklin and DeeAnn Baker of Odessa; one great-grandchild: Brooklyn Baker of Odessa and one great-grandchild on the way.
Graveside services will be privately held at Union Cemetery in Gustine, TX. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

James Dale “J.D.” Haney, age 18, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 5, 2008 in Odessa, Texas. He was born Saturday, August 12, 1989 in Odessa.
J.D. graduated from Odessa High School in 2007. He loved video games and NASCAR. He was a Denver Broncos football fan. He loved to travel, especially to Colorado. He was involved in Odessa Crime Stoppers.
Those left to cherish his love and memory include his father: James Haney and wife Linda of Odessa; mother: Deborah Cates of Odessa; grandparents: Roy Haney and wife Elena of Odessa and Eloy Cotton Davis of Midland; brother: Daniel Haney of Odessa; sister: McKayla Cates of Odessa and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Wanda J. Davis and his paternal grandmother, Barbara Haney.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Westover Baptist Church with Brother Terry Wright officiating. Pallbearers are David Haney, Shawn Haney, Dustin Haney, Kelly Haney, Justin Perry and Tyler Neil. Honorary pallbearers are The Messengers RC. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Enrique Hernandez, age 59, passed away Monday, January 7, 2008 at his residence in Kermit. He was born Friday, July 16, 1948 in Mexico to Ernesto and Francisca (Gallegos) Hernandez. He was an oilfield worker for Pool Neighbors Drilling. He married Guadalupe Tarin June 19, 1971 in Mexico.
He is survived by his wife: Guadalupe Hernandez of Kermit, one daughter: Hilda Y. Johnston of Early, TX, two sons: Martin A. Hernandez and Luis E. Hernandez of Odessa, five sisters: Magarita Juarez of Loma de Juarez, Mexico, Lupe Bonilla of Eastland, TX, Matilde Luna and Angelina Salazar both of Odessa and Arjela Alvarado of Midland; one brother: Valentine Hernandez of Ojinaga, Mexico; and twelve grandchildren.
Enrique was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Gillermo Hernandez.
Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday, January 9 and 10, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel’s 24-hour Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd. in Odessa. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Panfilo G. Nieto passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008 while working in Winnemucca, NV due to a fatal car accident. He was born Wednesday, June 1, 1966 in Mexico to Miguel and Natividad (Gavaldon) Nieto. He was an insulator in plant construction. Panfilo was a resident of Freeport, TX.
Those left behind to cherish his love and memories are his parents: Miguel and Natividad Nieto of Cuchillo Parado, Mexico; his loving wife: Teresa Nieto; three children: Noel Q. Nieto, Joel Q. Nieto, and Mariel Q. Nieto, all of Freeport, TX; six brothers: Manuel Nieto of Pecos, TX, Ancelmo Nieto of LA, Santos Nieto of UT, Hipolito Nieto of Arlington, TX, Melquiabes Nieto of Odessa, and Miguel Nieto Jr. of Cuchillo Parado, Mexico; six sisters: Manuela Juarez of Ojinaga, Mexico, Judyth Juaquez of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Guadalupe Dominguez, Sylvina Lujan, Rita Arzate, and Merna Nieto, all of Odessa.
Visitation is scheduled for midnight Thursday, January 10, 2008 to noon Friday, January 11, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel’s 24-hour Chapel in Odessa. Visitation in Cuchillo Parado, Mexico will be Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2008 in Cuchillo Parado. Lucinda "Cindy" Hahn, age 54, a homemaker died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at her residence in Odessa. She was born April 10, 1953 in Davenport, IA to Ora and Wilma Rudd.
She is survived by her husband: Jim Thomas of Odessa and her brother: Tom Rudd of Davenport, IA, and many friends.

Petra Renteria Anderson passed from this life Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Deerings Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Odessa at the age of 76. She was born January 31, 1931 in Big Spring to Luis and Juana (Corrales) Renteria. She was a homemaker; a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her love and memories include her husband: Myrl Anderson of Odessa; parents: Luis and Juana Renteria of Chihuahua, Mexico; three sons: Arthur Renteria Veliz of Stanton, TX and Richard Renteria Veliz and Mike Renteria Anderson, both of Odessa; four daughters: Mary Sanchez of Houston, TX, Rosie Guerrero of Giddings, TX, Petra Alarcón of Mesa, AZ, and Janie Castillo of Odessa; one brother: Luis Renteria of San Angelo, TX; four sisters: Margarita Galan of Houston, TX, Lupe Viciano of Big Spring, TX, Reina Dueñas of Abilene, TX, and Toribia Hughley of Fort Morgan, CO; twenty grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Maude Clarice Margraf, age 88, passed away January 11, 2008 at Sienna Care Center in Odessa. She was born August 25, 1919 in Marquand, MO to Roland Elijah Cobb and Goldie Killian Cobb. She was a retired licensed vocational nurse.
She is survived by her son, William "Bill" R. Margraf, Sr. of Grand Prairie, TX, one granddaughter: Lisa Margraf of Grand Prairie, TX and niece: Cindy Perales of Odessa .
Graveside memorial services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Garden of Prayer Section. Services were entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Rodrigo L. Quinonez, Sr, age 71, of Midland was carried to Heaven on angel's wings Saturday, January 12, 2008 from Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born March 13, 1936 in Mexico to Felipe and Luz (Lucero) Quinonez. He was an auto mechanic.
He is survived by his loving wife: Maria Bertha Baeza Quinonez of Midland, seven sons: Jesus Quinonez, Socorro Quinonez, and David Quinonez, , all of Odessa, Sergio Quinonez of LA, and Felipe Quinonez, Rodrigo Quinonez, Jr., and Ruben Quinonez, all of Ojinaga, Mexico; two daughters: Geneva Aguilar of Odessa and Martha Camacho of Ojinaga, Mexico; two brothers: Carlos Quinonez of Phoenix, AZ and Alcadio Quinonez of Ojinaga, Mexico; four sisters: Esther Levario and Natalia Baeza, both of Ojinaga, Mexico, Eloysia Morales of Midland, TX and Anna Leyva of Odessa; and numerous grandchildren.
A prayer service will be 6:00 pm Monday, January 14, 2008 at Acres West's 24-Hour Chapel. Services will be held in Ojinaga, Mexico with interment to follow at Jardines de San Jose Cementario. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Mother passed away January 13, 2008 in Odessa. She was born March 22, 1941 to Sherman and Ruth Gabbard in Grand Junction, Colorado.
She is survived by her daughter: Connie Gongre of Odessa; brothers: Floyd Gabbard and wife Barbara of Palestine, TX, Wick Gabbard and wife Betty of Athens, TX, Fred Gabbard of Virginia, and Max Gabbard of Kentucky; sisters: Wanda Wilson and Mary Brown, both of Tyler, TX; three grandchildren: Leon Gongre, Shane Gongre, and Nicky Gongre; three great-grandchildren and one more on the way; many nieces and nephews; and special family friends Missy Peterson Mahan and Janie Young.
Bernice is preceded in death by husband: E.C. Gongre; son: David Gongre; father: Sherman Gabbard and mother: Ruth Gabbard.
Family visitation will be Thursday, January 17, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be held Friday, January 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel with cremation following. Pastor Bob Thayer will officiate the service. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
