Michael Andrade

George Michael Andrade went to be with his Lord Thursday, April 17, 2008 in Dallas, TX at the age of 20.  He was born, Saturday, December 5, 1987 to George and Veronica (Bustillos) Andrade in Odessa, TX.  He was a home builder in the construction industry.

He is survived by his parents:  George Andrade and Veronica Andrade, both of Odessa; his paternal grandmother:  Patricia Cheney of Odessa; maternal grandmother:  Teresa Bustillos of Midland; one brother and three sisters:  John Bustillos, Stacey Andrade, Stephanie Andrade, and Eva Bustillos, all of Odessa; one nephew Isaah Andrade of Odessa; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family.

Rosary will be recited 7:00 pm Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 pm Monday, April 21, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Joe Uecker officiating.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden Section of Ector County Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Christopher Rodriguez, Jessie Rodriguez, Adrian Bustillos, Oscar Chavez, Alfonso Sanchez, and Christian Bustillos.  Honorary pallbearers will be David Bustillos, John Bustillos, and Juan Saucedo.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Amelia Hernandez de Vasquez
Amelia Hernandez de Vasquez, age 69, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at her residence in Odessa.  She was born in Villa Union, Durango, Mexico.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church.
 
Survivors include her husband:  Carlos Vasquez of Odessa; one son:  Carlos Vasquez Hernandez of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico; one daughter:  Julia Muro Vasquez of Odessa; two brothers:  Albino Hernandez Gomez of Baja, CA and Amador Hernandez Gomez of Villa Union, Durango, Mexico; five grandchildren:  Carlos Alberto Vasquez Martinez, Laura Guadalupe Vasquez Martinez, Cynthia Jasmine Vasquez Martinez, and Victoria Alejandra Vasquez Orta, all of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and Lorenza Manuela Muro of Odessa; and one great-grandson: Eric Isaac Espinoz of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
 
Services will be held in Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico with interment to follow at Recinto de la Oracion.  Arrangements were entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Lily Mae Roghair

Our precious Lily is now in our Heavenly Fatherís arms.  We only got the honor of having Lily with us for two short months.  Lily lightened our hearts with her beautiful smile and she will be greatly missed by all that loved her.  We will cherish those few months for the rest of our lives.  Lily Mae Roghair was born to Rickey Joann Roghair on February 13, 2008 and was taken from us on April 21, 2008.

Those left to hold her close in memory include her mother:  Rickey Roghair; grandparents:  Andy and Jacquelyn Brown and Rick Roghair; great-grandparents:  Debbie Holder, Jackie Dunn, Perry and Bonnie Brown, John Roghair and Joann Roghair; great-great grandmother: Nancy Wright; aunts and uncles:  Monica and Author Ellison, Kristina Roghair, Kristy Bloomfield, April Brown, Natasha Brown, Britani Brown, and John Roghair; great aunts and uncles:  Tandra and Dennis Linder, Jessie Dunn, Donnie and Lori Brown, Donna and Chris Molsbee, KC Brown, Jerry and Lisa Brown, and Jackie Pickens; great-great aunts and uncles:  Bea Looper and Billy and Thelma Brown and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Friday, April 25, 2008 at Rose Hill section of Ector County Cemetery officiated by Pastor Donnie Brown. Pallbearers will be Timothy Linder and Jeffery Brown.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

P.R. Whittington

Paul Ray "P.R." Whittington, longtime Odessa resident, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Hospice House of Odessa at the age of 72.  He was born July 12, 1935 in Duncan, Oklahoma.  He was a US Army veteran.  P.R. married Johnnie Cooper in Monahans almost thirty years ago.  He worked in the oilfield as a roughneck.  He was a Christian.

Those left to cherish his love and memories include his wife:  Johnnie Whittington of Odessa; one step-son:  Pete Tijerina of Houston, TX; two step-daughters:  Genon Hisaw and husband Bobby and Mona Williams and husband Pat, all of Odessa; one brother:  Jerry Whittington of Odessa; six sisters:  Zela Kresta and Reta Crawford, both of Kermit, Aloha Smith of Farmington, NM, Anita Mann and Jeanne Mikel, both of Gladewater, TX and Ruth Roberson of Greeley, CO; ten step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora Jones and Johnnie Whittington; brothers:  Alonzo, Johnnie, and Billy Whittington; and sisters:  Iva Holt and Linda Newberry.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, April 25, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Johnny Thomason officiating.  Interment will follow at Western Roses Memorial Park.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston Ave, Odessa, TX 79761.

Ruth Carson

Ruthell Chapman Carson passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Hospice House of Odessa.  She was born Wednesday, August 16, 1916 in Winters, TX to John Henry and Learah (Virden) Chapman.  She married B. F. Carson March 13, 1936 in Stanton, Midland County, TX.  They enjoyed almost 64 happy years of marriage before his death February 2, 2000.  She was a homemaker and they were the proud parents of three children.

Ruth is survived by her children, two sons:  Scotty Ray Carson and wife Bonnie of Hurst, TX and Ben L Carson and wife Debra of Rosebud, TX, and one daughter:  Brenda Wilson and husband Mel of Midland; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Her parents: John and Learah Chapman, one sister:  Minnie Lee Johnson, one grandson:  Shawn Wilson, and her husband:  B.F. Carson preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bill Billett officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Elaine Jacobs Kennedy Ross

Elaine Jacobs Kennedy Ross passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008 at her residence in Odessa.  She was born Saturday, October 19, 1940 to Earl and Froney (McLeroy) Jacobs in Rusk County, TX.  She married Glen Ray Ross November 16, 1996 in Odessa.

Elaine attended Texas Tech University and made a career as a legal secretary.  Her more than twenty years of serving as a legal secretary included working for the Texas State Attorney Generalís office.  She was also a volunteer for Catholic Charities.  She was a loving mother to two children and was much loved by her friends and family.

Those left to cherish her love and memory include her husband:  Glen Ray Ross; one daughter:  Terry Earlynn Kennedy; daughter-in-law:  Deanie Robinson Kennedy; one grandson:  Adicus Lynn Mercer; and two grandchildren adopted-in-love:  Phoebe Nicole McDowell and Choyce Wayne Tolliver, all of Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son:  Perry Earl Jacobs Kennedy.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Los Angeles Garden Section of Ector County Cemetery officiated by Chaplain Jane Morin.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Star Care Hospice, 620 N. Grant Ste. 100, Odessa, TX 79761.

Donna Rebecca Maynard

Donna Rebecca Maynard, age 55, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at her residence in Odessa.  She was born in Fresno, CA to William Albert and Jeanette Maxine (Scott) Smith.  She was a certified nurse's assistant.

She is survived by four sons:  Jerry Williams of Hanford, CA, Jeremy Williams of Odessa, Steven Garcia of Odessa, and Jacob Garcia of Big Lake, TX; one daughter:  Jeanette Cummings of Odessa; one brother:  Daniel Smith of Taft, CA and thirteen grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel officiated by Tony Alford.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Ronald D. Pruitt

Ronald D. Pruitt, age 65, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008 at his residence in Odessa.  He was born February 8, 1943 in Winnsboro, TX to Luther C. Pruitt and Bessie (Turner) Pruitt.  He graduated from OHS and went on to join the military, serving in the both the US Army and Navy.  He was a Vietnam War veteran.

Ronald is survived by his mother:  Bessie Turner Leonard of Santa Clara, UT; one sister:  Karen Swift and husband T. P. of Odessa; niece:  Amanda Navarrette of Odessa; nephews:  Hiram Matthews of Ft. Worth, TX and Jackie Matthews of Midland; three great-nieces:  Lacey, Brooke, and Annsylee; two great-nephews:  Jason and Devyn; and two great-great nephews:  Chase and Parker. 

He was preceded in death by his father:  Luther C. Pruitt; two brothers:  Jerry Pruitt and Jerry Pruitt; and one sister:  Nancy Slayton. 

Graveside memorial services with military honors will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens officiated by Brother Terry Wright.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

JD Pflieger
JD Pflieger, age 86, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at his Odessa residence.  He was born in Dodge City, KS.  He retired from Pioneer Natural Gas and then opened his own business in heating and air conditioning.  He was a US Army veteran and lifetime VFW member.
 
He is survived by his wife:  Joan Pflieger of Odessa; two daughters:  Paula Roush of Gardendale and Debbie Pflieger of Pleasant Farms; one brother:  Stanley Pflieger of Wyoming; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
 
Graveside services with military honors will be 10 am Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Owen Sharp officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Ana Ramos Salgado
Ana Ramos Salgado, age 75, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in Odessa.  She was born August 9, 1032 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Sinforiano and Juana (Navarrette) Ramos.  She married Matias Bustillos Salgado in 1949 in Mexico.  She was a homemaker.
 
She is survived by her husband:  Matias Bustillos Salgado of Odessa; three sons:  Luis Salgado, Reynaldo Salgado and Matias Salgado, all of Odessa; six daughters:  Irma Zubia and Martha Hernandez, both of Ojinaga, CH, Mexico, Ziola Galvaldon, Maria Elena Zubia, and Rosa Hilda Bustillos, all of Odessa, and Maria Jesus Salazar of Midland; three sisters:  Maria Jesus Ramos of Ojinaga, CH, Mexico, Tomasa Hernandez of Portales, NM, and Concepcion Rios of Odessa; 46 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held in Ojinaga, CH, Mexico with interment to follow at Cementerio de CaŮada Ancha.  Arrangements were entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Billy Ray (Snake) Shorts

Billy Ray (Snake) Shorts departed from this world on Monday, April 29, 2008 at the tender age of 47 at his residence.  He was born Tuesday, April 4, 1961 in Odessa to Dessie Pride and James Shorts Sr.  He was a lifetime resident of Odessa.  He graduated from Ector High School (Ector Jr. High) in 1979.  He attended Odessa College in 1989.  He was employed with Odessa Hilton from 1988 to 1991.  In 1991, he was employed with ORMC until his death, of which he served 16 years as a cook.  He was known for his cooking skills and style of cooking.  He was also known for his kindness he showed toward people that came across his path.  He will truly be loved and missed by many that came to know him through his lifetime.  

He was preceded in death by his father:  James Shorts, Sr. and sisters:  Jackie Morris and Virginia. 

He is survived by his wife:  Marjorie; sons:  Jamerson and Jefferson of Odessa; daughter:  Serenity of Odessa; his mother:  Dessie Pride of Odessa; brothers:  James Shorts Jr. of Odessa and Mickey of San Angelo; sister:  Laura of Calvert and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Prayer House Church of God in Christ, 404 Foster Ave, Odessa officiated by Pastor Charles E. Turner assisted by Supt. Paul Thompson, Sr. Pallbearers are Glenn Carroll, Alvoris Carroll, Alnoris Carroll, Michael Carroll, Cornelius Cleaver and Cornell Cleaver.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
