Frances Ellen Cook

Frances Ellen Cook passed from this life Saturday morning, April 11, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital at the age of 65.  She was born in San Saba, TX on January 22, 1944 to Clayton Rawls and Johnny Leat (Madison) Rawls.  She retired from the Odessa Country Club after 25 years of service.  She was Baptist. 

Frances leaves behind her mother:  Leat Green of Foreman, AR; two sons:  Ken Cook and wife Marsha of Gardendale, TX and Kellen Cook of Odessa; one daughter:  Keeney Miles and husband Buddy of Gardendale, TX; one sister:  Cindy Campbell of Midland; step-mother:  Mildred Rawls of Odessa; step-brother:  Jimmy Campbell and wife Melodee of Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren:  Kandace Miles, Kenisha Cook, Brandi Heaton, and Shawna Cook; and two great-grandchildren:  Kaelyn Heaton and Blayne Cook. 

She was preceded in death by her father:  Clayton Rawls; one son:  Ken-Neth Cook; and one brother:  Noel Rawls. 

Roses in your pillow, we love you, Mom. 

Graveside services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Western Roses Memorial Park Cemetery (4100 N. FM 1788), officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Cordell W. Curtis

Memorial Services for Cordell W. Curtis, 86, of Odessa, will be April 25, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Church at Forrest, N.M. officiated by Reverend Freddie Caton.  Arrangements are with Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa. TX.

Mr. Curtis died April 11, 2009. He was born January 21, 1923 in Portales, N.M. He married Edith Curtis on May 29, 1950, in Clovis, N.M. He was a well respected life-time farmer who moved to Durango, CO in 1959 to work at the Vanadium Corporation as a heavy duty diesel mechanic. He moved to Hereford in 1968 and worked for Holly Sugar in the same capacity until his retirement in 1989. After he retired, he continued farming until 2005 when he became disabled.

Cordell was preceded in death by his wife Edith and his parents Melvin and Minnie Curtis.

Cordell is survived by his two daughters Rosa Clark of Belen, N.M. and Laveta Hergenreter of Odessa, TX. He has five granddaughters, Cordie Sue, Rhonda, Ricki, Kimberly and Kelly and five great grandchildren, Mandy, Holly, Tyler, Shawn and Kyle. He has one surviving brother Quentin Curtis of Hereford, TX and one brother who preceded him in death, Dorman Curtis.

Olga Ramirez Garcia Bullis

Olga Ramirez Garcia Bullis, age 65, went to be with our Father on Sunday, April 12, 2009. She was born on Wednesday, May 26, 1943 to Manuel Ramirez and Maria Luise Romero Ramirez in El Paso, Texas. She was a nurse aide. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.  

Those left to cherish her memory are three sons: Alfred Garcia Jr. of San Diego, CA, Jesse Garcia of Odessa, TX and Oscar Bullis Jr. of Midland, TX; two daughters: Maria L. Bullis of San Benito, TX and Flossie M. Bullis of Santa Ana, CA; five brothers: Manuel Ramirez of Riverside, CA, Tony Ramirez of Santa Ana, CA, Michael Ramirez of Los Angeles, CA, George Ramirez of San Francisco, CA and Charles Ramirez of Anaheim, CA; two sisters: Norma Ramirez of Anaheim, CA and Melinda Ramirez of Hemet, CA; thirty-two grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. 

Rosary will be held 7:00 pm Monday, April 20, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Peggy Grandlund

Peggy Grandlund, age 61, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Regency Hospital in Odessa. She was born Thursday, June 12, 1947 in Ely, White Pine County, Nevada to Adolph and Edna (Ontiveros) Grandlund. 

Peggy was a considerate, giving, and loving person.  She was also a strong person, a fighter, who had overcome great obstacles.  After retiring from her nurse’s aide position, she was a Mary Kay representative.  This was where her personality could really shine through.  Peggy was a forgiving person, who always put others’ needs before her own.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life. 

Those left behind to cherish her love and memory include her daughter:  Cynthia Garcia of Odessa; two sons: Jesse Grandlund of San Antonio and Frankie Grandlund of Odessa; two sisters: Helen Perez and Matilda Sandoval of Odessa; and a brother: Richard Ontiveros of Odessa; eleven grandchildren:  Brittany, Bobbie Jo, Xavier, Valerie, Bobby, Ezequiel, Nadia, Keanu, Emily, Marc, and Jessi Reneé and one great-grandchild:  Brody.    

She was preceded in death by father and a sister:  Frances Salazar. 

Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, April 17, 2009 at St Joseph Catholic Church with Father Mark Mueller as celebrant. Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Bettylee S. Phillips
Bettylee S. Phillips, age 90, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Hospice House of Odessa.  She was born in Rosser, Texas.  She was a retired school teacher.  She was Catholic.
 
She is survived by one son:  Phillip Phillips of Midland; one daughter:  Teresa Elizabeth Phillips of Odessa; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
 
Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Friday, April 17, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 18, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, officiated by Father Mark Woodruff.  Interment will follow at the Phillips Family Cemetery in Odessa.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University, Odessa, TX.

Don Wayne Fletschinger
Don Wayne Fletschinger, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at his residence in Odessa, TX. He was born June 21, 1946 in New Orleans, LA to the late Benjamin and Ruth (Bayhi) Fletschinger. He was a sign painter.
 
He is survived by his daughter: Kristina Foss of Picayune, MS and four grandchildren.
 
A Remembrance Service is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Odessa, 7012 W. Mockingbird Lane, Odessa, TX. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Betty Joan McCann

Betty Joan McCann, age 78, of Odessa passed from this life on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born March 29, 1931 in Bend, OR to the late Claire and Roberta Lynn Richards.   

She worked as a secretary for Wallace Studio and later as a tea cart lady at Furrs Cafeteria.  Her biggest job, however, was raising three boys and a girl, mostly on her own.  Since all four children banded together and refused to tell on one another, they all got spankings together when one caused trouble. 

Betty is survived by her three sons:  Joe Hicks and Charlie Robinson, both of Odessa and Richard Hicks and wife Patty of Midland, TX; one daughter:  Debra Palmer and husband John of Odessa; one sister:  Roberta Fuselier and husband Joe of Reno, NV; three grandchildren:  Harry Taylor, James Taylor, and Anna Yandell and three great-grandchildren:  Hope Taylor, Andrew Taylor, and Taylor Yandell. 

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Bro. Mark Kirby of Dunn St. Baptist Church.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Irene Ethel Beasley

Irene Ethel Beasley, age 86, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Fristoe, Missouri on March 11, 1923 to George and Millie (Walker) Hart.  She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Christian Church. She was very involved with Special Olympics and volunteered her time for 30 years. 

Survivors include three sons: Emmitt Beasley and wife April of Odessa, Bob Eli of Joplin, MO and Leroy Eli of Colorado; four daughters: Pamela Beasley of Odessa, Mildred Lloyd of Oklahoma, Freda Dodson of Joplin MO and Marilynn Elaine Sands of Nebraska; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.  

She is preceded in death by two sons: Larry Eli and Ronny Eugene Eli, and a daughter: Sharon McDowell.  

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Dewey Blevins and Pastor Carrie Barrett. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Amanda Acosta

Amanda Acosta, age 77, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at her residence in Odessa. She was born in Los Charcos, CH, Mexico to the late Jesus and Juana (Medrano) Levario.  She was a homemaker. She was Catholic.

She is survived by her husband: Gerardo Acosta of Odessa, TX; two sons: Rene Acosta Levario and Fernando Acosta Levario both of Odessa; two daughters: Edelmira Hernandez of Odessa, TX and Lorena Herrera of Midland; one brother: Manuel Levario of Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico; two sisters: Florentina Polanco of Odessa and Jesusita Spencer of California; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Barbara Ann Floyd

Barbara Ann Floyd went to be with her Lord on April 20, 2009.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roy Joe Floyd; daughters:  Jo Ann Acuff and husband Joe of Odessa, Martha Jane Peeples and husband Bobby Dean of Tyler; granddaughters, Kim Wells and husband Jason of Odessa, Tamra Greeson and husband Chris of Atascocita, Kellye Pando and husband Noel of Webster and Bridget Peeples and fiancé Stewart Smith of Humble.  Also her sister, Linda Sue Woods of Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Floyd, and her parents, Minnie and Lawton "A.L." Cox.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2009 at Kingston Avenue Baptist Church, 5200 Kingston Ave. Odessa, TX at 11:00 am.  Brother John Taylor will officiate.

Donations can be sent in her memory to Hospice House of Odessa.

Nancy Claudine Wright
Nancy Claudine Wright, age 60, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at her residence in Odessa, Texas. She was a housewife.
 
Survivors include her life partner: Robert Van Ness of Odessa; four daughters: Debra Wright, Leora Wright, Thelma Brown and Bobbie Smith, all of Odessa; three brothers: Herbert Bishop of Kingsbury, TX, Ray Bishop of Midland, TX and Leroy Bishop of Odessa; two sisters: Mary Stephens of Odessa and Phyllis Cowey of Seguin, TX; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
 
She is preceded in death by her husband: Joe Bonnie Wright; her parents Claude and Leora Bishop; one daughter: Phyllis Wright; two brothers: Johnny Art Bishop and Harvey Bishop; and one great-great grandchild.
 
Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 6:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by James Fulfer. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Concepción Gonzales

Concepcion Gonzales, age 92, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Seabury Nursing Center in Odessa, Texas. She was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, MX. She was a housewife.  She was Catholic. 

Survivors include three sons: Aldolfo, Arturo and Aureliano Armendariz, all of Ojinaja; two daughters: Alicia Aurora Ortiz of Alpine, TX and Aida Proaño of Ojinaga; 13 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.  

Rosary is scheduled for Friday evening, May 1, 2009 at the Funeraria de Valle in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, MX. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Funeraria de Valle in Ojinaga. Interment will follow at Cementerio de Ultimo Refugio in Ojinaga.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria de Valle in Ojinaga.
