Richard Edward Keenzel

Richard Edward Keenzel, age 48, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at his home in Odessa. He was born March 02, 1961 in Bitburg, Germany to the late George Edward and Dorothy May (McGillis) Keenzel. He was a General Service Administrator for the US Government. 

Richard was an awesome husband, father, brother, son-in-law, and grandpa.  He was Teresa’s soul mate and a real sweetheart.  He was full of life and loved camping and fishing.  He enjoyed animals, especially his dogs:  Blondie and Dagwood.  He had the answers to ALL the questions. 

Those left to cherish his love and memory include his wife: Teresa Keenzel of Odessa; two sons: George Keenzel and wife Laci of Aztec, NM and James Keenzel of Odessa; four daughters: Amanda Keenzel and Patricia Keenzel both of Aztec, NM and Tiffany Martinez and husband Gabriel of Andrews and Candice Keenzel of Odessa; his mother-in-law:  Vonnie Butler of Waco, TX; father-in-law:  Homer Hankins of Odessa; three brothers, Dale Keenzel of Odessa, David Keenzel of Aztec and Roger Keenzel and wife Debbie of Houston; nine grandchildren; brother-in-law:  Jimmy Hankins of Odessa; sister-in-law:  Melissa McIntyre of Odessa; five nephews:  Michael Allen and wife Dana, Joshua Keenzel, Dustin Keenzel, Ray Embree, and Jeremiah McIntyre; and five nieces:  Xanthi Shumake and husband Erik, Jamie Keenzel, Alyssa Keenzel, Tabitha Keenzel, and Kara Hankins.   

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Wayne Shelton.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jesus MinJarez Serrano

Jesus MinJarez Serrano, age 81, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009 at his Odessa residence.  He was born in Mexico.  He was a farmer.
 
Survivors:  Wife- Maria Serrano of Odessa; sons:  Hector Serrano and Efrain Serrano, both of Odessa, Antonio Serrano of Presidio, TX, and Higinio Serrano and Jesus Serrano, both of Ojinaga, CH, Mexico; four daughters:  Micaela Castillo Serrano and Manuela Duran, both of Odessa, Erma Delgado of Aldama, MX and Maria Molinar of Ojinaga, MX; three sisters:  Manuela Martinez of Artesia, NM, Martina Acosta of Pecos, TX, and Margarita Arroyas of Odessa; 37 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
 

Visitation in Odessa will be Monday evening, (May 4, 2009) until 10:00 pm. Services will be held at a later date in Ojinaga, CH, Mexico.  Interment will be at Cementerio de Las Conchas in Ojinaga.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and De Valle Funeraria in Ojinaga.

Nanci Nance Cook

Nanci Nance Cook, age 65, passed from this life on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Hospice House of Odessa.  She was born in Riverside, CA on December 23, 1943 to Sterling and Mildred (Martin) Nance.  She was a homemaker. 

She is survived by her husband: Stephen D. "Steve" Cook of Odessa; three daughters:  Dina Ann Stunkard and Kimberly Dawn Skiles, both of Odessa and Stacey Lee Strickland of Jefferson, TX; three sons:  Charles Russell Folley and Ralphord Wayne Skiles, both of Odessa and Michael Clay Strickland of Jefferson, TX; brother:  Ronnie Nance of Dallas, TX; and three grandchildren:  Ashli Ann Latimer, Cody Ray Skiles, and Elijah Hunter Strickland. 

Memorial services will be 2 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Skip Hedgpeth.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Maria Paula Ortiz

Maria Paula Ortiz, age 54, went to be with our father on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Hospice House in Odessa, Texas. She was born in Roswell, NM on June 29, 1954 to Leon and Balbina Ledesma. She was a registered nurse. She was loved by many and will not be forgotten.  

Survivors include her mother: Balbina Ledesma of Grenada, CO; one son: Pedro Thomas Ortiz Jr. of Odessa; two daughters: Elsie Marie Ortiz-Fonseca of Baldwin, NY and Tracy Ortiz Flores of Odessa; two brothers: Daniel Ledesma of Lovington, NM and Albert Ledesma of Ulysses, KS; five sisters: Ester Morales of Carlsbad, NM, Retta Pizarro of Lamar, CO, Rosie Vega of Johnson, KS, Yolanda Ledesma of Dalhart, TX and Connie Vega of Granada, CO. She has seven grandchildren:  Samantha Kim Porras, Anthony Fonseca, Samuel Aaron Porras, Andrew Fonseca, Salina Porras, Eric Ortiz and Kassandra Ortiz. 

She is preceded in death by her father: Leon Ledesma and one brother: Pete Ledesma. 

A rosary is scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2009 at 7:00 pm. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Victor Joseph Gianfala III

Victor Joseph Gianfala III, age 59, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009 at his Odessa residence.  He was born in Church Point, LA July 28, 1949 to Vito Joseph Gianfala II and Theresa (Hall) Gianfala.  He was a retired US Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife:  Kathy Gianfala of Odessa; mother:  Theresa Gianfala of Church Point, LA; one son:  Maj. Victor Gianfala IV of Saudi Arabia; three daughters:  Tessa Gianfala of Church Point, LA, Victoria Gianfala of Lafayette, LA and Sarah Fontenot of Odessa; brother:  Billy Gianfala of Church Point, LA; two sisters:  Lilly Gianfala of Church Point, LA and Susan Constantine of Bloomington, IN; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Brunte McMaryion

Brunte McMaryion was born to Maricus and Lakeisha (Calloway) McMaryion on Wednesday, April 19, 1995 in Odessa. At the tender age of 14, he passed from this life on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at his Odessa residence. He had been a seventh grade student at Clute Intermediate in Clute, TX.  He also attended Sidewalk Sunday School every Saturday in Clute.  He loved to listen to music and draw.  He also loved God. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents:  Marcus and Lakeisha McMaryion of Odessa and grandparents:  Earl and Christine Templeton of Odessa; grandmother: Maple McMaryion of Midland; grandfather:  Wallace Howell of Midland; his younger brothers and sisters:  Christaniesha Palmer, Silky Dixon, Duvé Dixon, Duvé Zhanyé Dixon, Drevon Markelle Hille, Ayla McMaryion, Donijah McMaryion, Amber Simpson, Macayla Willingham, D’Quan Witfield, and Tredon Smith, all of Odessa; Aunts and Uncles:  Lavondra Burditt, Christopher Burditt, Derrick Johnson, Patricia McMaryion, Jacquelyn McMaryion, Tammy Cornish, Jeffery McMaryion, Bashar Jordan, Jamal Howell, Wallace Tremaine Howell, Robert Quarker, Nefeisha Saylor, Tasha Morris, Chari Hillard, Kamilla Templeton, Arjumand Templeton, Sabba Templeton, and Jamal Templeton; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded Home by his grandfather:  Alvin Morris and one uncle:  Dewayne Calloway Morris. 

The family will gather and receive friends at 3713 Holley in Odessa.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 15, 2009 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Tatum.  Pallbearers will be:  Nevatiny Berry, Robert Quarker, Dorick Ross, Breeon Green, Shon Calloway, and Derrick Johnson.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Timothy Issac Jimenez

Timothy Issac Jimenez was born January 4, 1991 to Brenda Jimenez in Odessa, Texas.  He was a local high school student.  Due to an unfortunate car accident, he left this life on May 9, 2009.   

Funeral services to honor his memory will be 10:00 am Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Templo Buenas Nuevas, officiated by Pastor Rosario Hill.  Pallbearers will be Jacky Villa, Joe Villa, Gilbert Guerrero, Steven Velasco, Johnathan Rayos, and Brandon Rodriguez.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Timothy leaves behind his mother:  Brenda Jimenez of Odessa; grandmother:  Elva Jimenez of Odessa; five sisters:  Jennifer Velasco, Mary Gonzalez, Jamie Trevino, Erica Tadeo, and Stephanie Jimenez; two brothers:  Santiango “Jimmy” Trevino and Mark Jimenez; ten nieces, eight nephews, three great-nephews, and one great-niece. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather:  Fred P. Jimenez and uncle:  Mike Jimenez.

Rhonda Renee Goetz

Rhonda Renee Goetz, age 49, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 11, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born in Odessa, Texas, on March 13, 1960. She attended Odessa schools and worked for a period of time at Medical Center Hospital. She spent many years near Lake Whitney where she enjoyed boating and all water sports. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Corey Huffty; her mother and stepfather, Paula and Eddie Boles; her brother, Robbie Goetz; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl H. Goetz Jr.

An informal memorial service and visitation with family and friends will be held at the Boles home on Saturday evening, May 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Home Hospice, 516 N. Mary Dean Thomas
Mary Dean Thomas, age 83, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Dunn, TX, May 15, 1925 to the late Bernice and Ozie Mae (Folsom) Johnson.  She married Robert L. Thomas on February 1, 1942 in Walters, OK.  He preceded her in death September 9, 1998.  She was a homemaker.
 
She is survived by four sons:  Terry Thomas of Dallas, TX, Tom Thomas of Houston, TX, and Jim Thomas and Bob Thomas, both of Odessa; two daughters:  Nina Thomas of Odessa and Linda Daude of Kempner, TX; sister:  Jean Jones of Odessa; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
 
Graveside services were held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park, officiated by Chaplain Clay Porter.  Arrangements were entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
 

Jeffrey Howard Baldwin

Jeffrey Howard Baldwin, age 52, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at his Odessa residence.  He was born in Houston, TX. He graduated from Permian High School in 1975.  He was currently working as a medical gas installation technician for the TexMed Company in Odessa.  He was an awesome rocking Dad and Granddad and will be greatly missed. 

Jeff was preceded in death by his father:  John Baldwin; mother:  Dorothy; and his sister:  Cheryl Annis. 

He is survived by his wife of 31 years:  Brenda Baldwin of Shallowater, TX; son:  Jared Baldwin and wife Mandy of Dayton, OH; daughter:  Misty Barron and her husband Chris of Lubbock, TX; four grandchildren:  Zeppelin, Zayla, Zage and Zeven Barron, all of Lubbock; and brother:  Doug Baldwin of Portland, OR. 

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Lubbock City Cemetery in Lubbock, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Lubbock.

Keith Nelson
Keith Nelson, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  He was born in Overton, TX to the late William Lewis Nelson and Gladys (McKey) Nelson.  He was a compressor mechanic.  He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He was a member of Gardendale Church of Christ.
 
He is survived by his wife of over 46 years:  Priscilla Nelson of Odessa; one son:  Paul L. Nelson of Blanchard, OK; two daughters:  LaFonda Fletcher and husband Keith of Blanchard, OK and DeAnna Giesick of Odessa, TX; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Kenneth Nelson
 
Family visitation will be Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd. Odessa, TX from 6 to 8 pm.  Graveside services will be 2 pm Friday, May 15, 2009 at Andrews Old Cemetery in Andrews, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa.

Juan Correa Miranda
Juan Correa Miranda, age 88, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Hospice House of Odessa. He was born in El Mulato, CH, Mexico to Isabel Correa and Ruperta (Miranda) Correa.  He was a farmer.
 
He is survived by one brother:  Agustin Miranda of Artesia, NM; one sister:  Martina C. Lujan of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
 
A prayer service will be held Friday, May 15, 2009 at the funeral home at 7:00 PM.  Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Templo Monte Calvario, 601 N. Lauderdale in Odessa, officiated by Pastor Pedro Emiliano.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
