Gary Wayne Clair, age 57,
passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at his Odessa residence.
He was born in Detroit, MI. He was an oilfield hand.
He
is survived by his brother: Dorse Wayne Clair and wife Wanda of
Sarasota, FL and sister: Carolyn Redmond of LaFollette, TN.
Memorial services will be at a
later date in Middlesboro, KY. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres
West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Shumate Funeral Home in
Middlesboro.

Deborah Paulette "Debbie" Badley, age 57, went to be with the Lord and her Mama on Monday, October 19, 2009. She was born Monday, February 18, 1952 to Jerald David and Wanda Rue Folk in Colony, Kansas. She was a homemaker, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Debbie leaves behind to cherish her love and memory her father: Jerald David Folk of Odessa; two daughters: Jacque Laverne Blount and husband Jim and Mashell Clarise Underwood, both of Odessa; three brothers: Eddie Folk and wife Carolyn of Farmington, NM, Dan Folk and wife Jackie of McKinney, TX, and Mike Folk and wife Linda of Odessa; six grandchildren: Terika Wagner, Nathan Roberson, Chase Blount, Codie Blount, Pickle Blount, and Harley Underwood; and one great-grandson: Creed Wagner. She was preceded in death by Lewis Alton Biggers, the love of her life. From that love she was blessed with three step-children, Donna, Kevin and Edwin and 5 grandchildren, Mandy, Tena, Tiffany, Jenea and Barbara. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 23, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Lorrie Roehl. Pallbearers will be Jerrod McCann, Scott Folk, Nathan Roberson, David Folk, Charles Folk and Boomer Bloomer. Asa Womack and Brant Folk are honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Western Roses Memorial Park, 4100 N. FM 1788. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Medical Center CCU nurses, Maria and Ricky, for their love and support during her short time in the hospital, also to Nevaeh Hope’s Fellowship for all of their kindness, food and love for the family.

this life unexpectedly Wednesday, October 21, 2009 as a result of a
traffic accident in Colorado City, TX. He was born in Odessa on May
28, 1985 to Efrain and Frances (Escarcega) Sanchez. He was a
lifetime resident of Odessa and a 2003 graduate of OHS. He was a
welder who greatly enjoyed his work. He loved horse racing.

Johnny Iness, age 55, passed away
on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Hospice House in Odessa. He was
born June 04, 1954 in Kermit. He was a diesel mechanic. He served
in the Army.
Survivors include: his
wife: Shirley Gallagher; one son: R.J. Iness; one daughter:
Cherell Bivins; four brothers: Roy Iness, James Iness, Steve Iness,
and A. J. Posey; one sister: Lisa Iness: and four grandchildren.
A
memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 pm Wednesday, October 28,
2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Pastor Roy Iness
officiating. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

She wore many hats
throughout her lifetime. She was a licensed hairdresser, employee of
Gibson Department Store, 7-11 Corporations, Grays Nursing Home and
finally, the job she loved the most and retired from, was as a bus
driver for
She leaves behind
two children, Jimmie Allen Batte and wife, Sharon of Austin, Texas, and
Linda Batte Shortes and husband David of Odessa, Texas; and a
sister-in-law and lifetime friend, Ollie Batte Stallcup of
Beatrice was
preceded in death by her parents, Samuel E. and Margaret Wright; five
sisters and two brothers; her husband of 39 years, Jimmie Cebron Batte;
and one daughter, Joyce Yvonne Batte.
She was a beautiful
unwavering believer in Jesus Christ and a faithful prayer warrior. God
used her frequently to intercede on the behalf of numerous individuals.
She was the backbone of her family, a beacon of light to the neighbors,
friends, family and all her children are believers because of her
exemplary life. She left behind a heritage to her children,
grandchildren, nieces and nephews that can’t be purchased.

Shirley Ann (Sutherland) Roberts Lee,
age 73 of Odessa passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009 after a lengthy
illness at Buena Vida Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born
in Centerville (Wayne County), Indiana on March 22, 1936 to James Floyd
and Mattie Will (Rich) Sutherland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jeremy Lane
Nichols.
Shirley received her high school diploma from Greens Fork, Indiana in
1954. She resumed her education after many years as a homemaker and
earned a BA in English, graduating cum laude from Texas Women’s
University in Denton, Texas at the age of 60. Shirley previously worked
for Anderson Publishing in Denton, Texas before retiring in
2006. She was known to many for her excellent sewing and cooking
skills; however Shirley’s passions were classical music, singing and
reading. Her love of reading was taught to her by her mother and her
wealth of knowledge on most any subject was self taught through
reading. All who knew Shirley remember, she was seldom ever seen
without a book to read in her possession.
She is survived by her former husband of 40 years, Darrell Desmond
Roberts of Somerset, Ky., her children: son, Darwyn Lee and wife,
Marilyn Roberts of Jamestown, Ky., daughter, Melanie Lynette and
husband, Joe Taylor of
Somerset Ky., daughter, Shari Laraine
and husband, Roger Donovan of Clarkesville, Tn., daughter, Sheila Diane
Hisaw King Wallis of Kermit, Tx.
(formerly from Odessa, Tx.), son, Kevin Lane Roberts of Naples
FL., son, Scott Michael Roberts of Denver Co. son, Jeffrey Brian and
wife, Margaret Roberts of Corbin Ky.,
daughter, Stephanie Dawn and husband, Allen Steadham of
Odessa Tx., and daughter, Erica Nicole
and husband, Michael Bek of Little Rock, Ark.
There are 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Shirley’s personal request was to have no service. The family would
like to thank the entire staff of Buena Vida Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center, Home Hospice and Acres West Funeral Chapel for their care and
compassion, along with the many calls and concerns from friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel And Crematory.
