James Earl Canada
James Earl Canada, age 63, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at his Odessa residence.  He was born in Hobbs, NM on December 8, 1946 to James Edward Canada and Triona Mae (Teague) Canada.  He was an oilfield worker.
 
He is survived by his aunt:  Bobbie Jenkins of Odessa.
 
Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
Edwin L. Zachero

Edwin L. Zachero, age 52, passed from this life on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 11, 1957 in Pell City, AL to Aime Zachero and Betty Dunlap. He was a hard worker who spent most of his life building, roofing and remodeling. He married the love of his life, Donna Zachero on June 31, 1991 in Crane, TX. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Donna of Odessa; his mother: Betty Todd and step-dad Grover Todd of Pell City; one son: Weston Cotton of Odessa; two daughters: Keitha Holmes of Big Spring and Kristi Cotton of Odessa; two brothers Dewayne and Roy Todd of Pell City; and two sisters: Nickie Clough and Beckie Johnson, both of Pell City. He had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also blessed with nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. 

His father, Aime Zachero, preceded him in death. 

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Acres West with Reverend Jason Cotton officiating. Interment will follow at Western Roses Memorial Park, 4100 N. FM 1788, Midland County.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Ramona Vega Renteria

Ramona (Vega) Renteria, age 59, of Meoqui, Chihuahua, MX, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in Odessa, Texas.  She was born on March 6, 1950 to Gregorio Polanco Renteria and Brijida Vega Renteria in El Pueblito, CH, MX.  She worked as a cook in a factory. 

She is survived by three daughters- Margarita Nunez Renteria, Norma Nunez Renteria, and Maria de Jesus Nunez Renteria, all of Chihuahua, MX; one son - Victor Manuel Nunez Renteria of Chihuahua, MX; two sisters - Juana Renteria of Midland and Maria Renteria of Odessa; five brothers - Alvaro Renteria, Mario Renteria, Jose Renteria, and Manuel Renteria, all of Odessa and Apolonio Renteria of Chihuahua, MX; and four grandchildren.   

Her husband and parents precede her in death.    

Services will be at a later date in Meoqui, CH, Mexico.  Interment will be at Panteon Municipal in Meoqui, CH, MX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria Rodriguez in Meoqui. 
Betty Jean Rhoten
Betty Jean Rhoten, age 78, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Crane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in San Angelo on March 22, 1931 to George W. Stephenson and Gladys Stevens.  She was a factory worker.
 
Survivors include her two sons: Richard and Malcolm Stewart, both of Odessa; one daughter: Janet Bigham of Amarillo; two brothers: Paul and Bobby Stephenson, both of California; three grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Three brothers:  Jack, Jerry, and Larry Stephenson; one sister: Claudia Stevens; and her grandson:  Joshua Stewart, precede her in death.
 
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Fay Hogan Allison

Fay Hogan Allison “MeMaw” was born July 10, 1932 in Salt Gap, TX to Manuel and Annie Hogan.  On December 22, 2009, she went to meet her Lord and Savior.   

She married Don Allison on October 26, 1950 in Odessa, TX. After living in many states, they decided to call Odessa their home.  Together they shared fifty-nine years of marriage and five children:  Donna, Doug, LaVona, Nils, and Kitrena.  They were active in many churches and enjoyed teaching their kids to love the Lord.  MeMaw gave of herself to everyone she came in contact with.  She was MeMaw to many and friend to even more.   

She was preceded in death by her parents and three of her children:  Donna, Doug, and Nils. 

Left to cherish her memory are her husband:  Don; daughters:  LaVona Baker and Kitrena Allison of Odessa; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters; four brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.   

The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Friday, December 25, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Gary Douglas and assisted by Rev. Larry Douglas. Pallbearers are Gary Douglas, James Baker, Jason Bushong, Matthew Allison, Bobby White, and Willie Skelton.  Honorary pallbearers will include Gary Keese, Luke Bedrick, Shae Pettigrew, and Jacob Keese.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Online condolences may be sent at acreswestfuneral.com. 

On this day there was a joyful reunion in Heaven between MeMaw and her children and one day we all look forward to joining them. 
Phillip Glen Wages

Phillip Glen Wages, age 60, of Hobbs, NM passed from this life at Hospice House of Odessa, TX on Thursday, December 24, 2009.  He was born in Hobbs on March 21, 1949 to the late Herbert Dee Wages and Dessie Mae (Posey) Wages.  His father taught him to weld and he worked in California for a while doing offshore welding.  He later moved back to Hobbs and made it his home. 

Phillip served in the Army in Vietnam. He was Past Post Commander for VFW Post 3274 in Hobbs and was Seam Squirrel of the Cooties of Hobbs.  He enjoyed the cowboy life, working in rodeos, riding horses, ranching, and doubling as a bronc rider in western movies.  He loved all animals and was always taking in strays.  He was also a family man.  He loved to cook and had a great devotion to his family. 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sons:  Cassidy and Cody Wages, both of Carlsbad, NM; one step-son:  Eric Arnold of Waco, TX; and a step-daughter:  Brandy Arnold of Bellville, TX; sister:  Glenda Tremaine of Arlington, TX; brother:  Charles Wages of Capitan, NM; and eight grandchildren:  Gavin Wages, Keelie Arnold, Sidney Arnold, Chandler Arnold and McKenzie Marshall. 

Memorial services with full military honors will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the VFW Post #3274 in Hobbs, NM, officiated by Rev. Tim Tremaine.  Burial with military honors will be Monday, January 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Fort Bayard National Cemetery near Silver City, New Mexico.  Arrangements were entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Odessa. 

Clarence Earl Kenley Sr.

Clarence Earl Kenley Sr. also known as “Banjo”, age 82, of Penwell, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  He was born in O’Donnell, TX on November 1, 1927 to William Jennings Bryan and Effie Mae (Townsend) Kenley.  He was a well known pipe inspector who owned and operated Red’s Inspection Service.

After serving in the Army in WWII, he eventually returned to West TX and became a member of the Masonic Lodge #955 and was a Master Mason. In 1987, he was President of the Odessa Shrine Club.  If you ever saw the “Shriner” bucking car in the 4th of July parade, spinning around in the middle of the street, you’d know him immediately.  That car and his cigar were a couple of his trademarks that made him so memorable.  He was also a proud gang boss for the renowned Chuck Wagon Gang in 1980.  He truly loved and believed in the Masons, the Shriners, and the Chuck Wagon Gang. Those of us left behind will always remember his kindness for his fellow man, old funny stories, and all the good times we shared. Daddy never met a stranger and never failed to help someone in need.

His oldest daughter, Marcy Rhodes of Penwell and her late husband Jerry, gave him two granddaughters, Ashley Caitlan and Bailey Erin.

His daughter, Jayne Faltus and husband Doug of Odessa, gave him five grandchildren:  Jori D’Ann and her husband Buddy Pearce, Kari Lyn and her husband Adolfo Gomez, Chelsea Lea Hedrick, Cynthia Dawn Faltus, and Christopher D. Faltus.

The youngest, Clarence Earl Kenley Jr. of Odessa brought to the family his son, Bryan Allen and his brothers, Dwight and Justin.

He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Chase Alexander Pearce, Alexander Joey Pearce, Jayden Bryce Pearce, Brianna Nichole Hedrick, Kaleb Matthew Gomez, and Kaylee Chenault.

His former wife of 25 years, Audrey Kenley, his parents, a baby brother and one sister:  Lillie Baker, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Pastor Al Workman.  Interment will follow at the Rhodes Family Cemetery in Penwell.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa. 

Buford Gotcher
Buford Gotcher, age 66, of Artesia passed from this life on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born in Plainview, TX. He was a surveyor for the oil field.
 
Survivors include three sisters: Shirley Sanchez, LeVerne Strawn and Glenda Maurer, all of Artesia; brother:  Preston Gotcher of Gatesville, TX; brother-in-law: Mike Maurer; and niece:  Jackie Black.
