Carol Jeane Arnold Cavender
Carol Cavender, age 63, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010 at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born on January 8, 1946 in Big Spring. She was a housewife.
 
Survivors include her husband: Jim Bob Cavender of Odessa, six sons: David, Scott, and Eric Arnold, all of Odessa, Bill and James Cavender of Odessa and Shawn Cavender of Phoenix, AZ; six daughters: Penny, Aprile and Amy Arnold, all of Odessa, Dianne and Nancy Cavender of Odessa and Angi Cavender of Phoenix, AZ; one brother: Robert Keefer of Odessa; and one sister: Sue Pritchard of Odessa.  She was "Grannie Carol" to twenty-five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister:  Judy Cavender; parents:  Lewis Parker and Marjorie Anne Overton Parker; son:  Dale Arnold; and first husband:  William Melvin Arnold.
 
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Central Baptist Church. Pastor David Johnson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Sylvia Lloyd Gulledge

Sylvia Lloyd Gulledge, age 82, passed from this life on Monday, January 4, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital of Odessa.  She was born in Hagley, England on February 22, 1927 to Fred and Olive (Aston) Lloyd.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in San Antonio and attended Mid-Cities Church in Midland. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her son:  Roger Lloyd Patton and wife Melanie of Odessa; daughter:  Carolyn Askew and husband Guy of San Antonio; four grandchildren:  Steven Mautz and Lisa Silver, both of San Antonio, Shasta Gomez of Austin, TX, and Meisha Overby and husband Patrick of Sacramento, CA; and four great-grandchildren:  Megan Silver, Niki Silver, and Madison Mautz, all of San Antonio, and Ava Overby of Sacramento, CA. 

Her parents:  Fred and Olive Lloyd; husband:  Thomas W. Gulledge; and one sister:  Mary Withnell, preceded her in death. 

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Monday, January 11, 2010 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, officiated by The Rev. Michael D. Chalk.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Colton Trae Vaughn

Colton Trae Vaughn, an infant, of Odessa, Texas, was born and returned to Jesus on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Odessa Regional Medical Center. 

He was the son of Terry Vaughn and Christina (Guillen) Vaughn.  He is also survived by his sisters -Victoria Shae Vaughn and Lexi Rhae Vaughn, both of Odessa; paternal great-grandfather – Richard Bush of Monahans; maternal grandparents – Joy and James Griffith of Odessa; paternal grandparents – Jeff and Regina Walker of Odessa; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, January 7, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Graveside services will be 10:00 am Friday, January 8, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Anthony Edward Crivella
Anthony Edward "Tony" Crivella, age 58, of Terlingua, Texas, died Wednesday, January  6, 2010, at Hospice House in Odessa, Texas. He was born in Tillamook, OR.  He worked in an Oregon shipyard.  He was a US Marine veteran.
 
He is survived by his four sisters:  Barbara Wodesky of Tillamook, Ore., Judy Lovall of Molalla, Ore., Betty Crivella of Alpine, Texas, and Celia Williams of Tillamook, Ore.; and six brothers:  Jimmy Crivella, Jr. of Gresham, Ore., Joseph Crivella of Brighton, Ore., Andy Crivella of Gainesville, Texas, Mark Crivella of Garibaldi, Ore., Phillip Crivella of Garibaldi, Ore., and Leslie Crivella of Garibaldi, Ore.       
 
Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel

Luis Angel Martinez, Sr.

Luis Angel Martinez, Sr., age 46, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in El Paso to Pablo and Celia Martinez on June 17, 1963.  He was Catholic. He was a truck driver.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife: Lillian (Nava) Martinez of Odessa; parents: Pablo Martinez and Celia (Rojas) Martinez of El Paso, TX; grandmother:  Consuelo Regalado of Juarez, Mexico; grandfather:  Jesus Rojas of El Paso; daughter: Sabrina N. Martinez of Odessa; three sons:  Luis A. Martinez, Jr., Marco A. Martinez, and Richard Martinez, all of Odessa; four sisters:  Martha Sanchez, Carmen Rocha, Susie Rivas, and Angie Martinez, all of El Paso; four brothers:  Eddie Martinez, Cesar Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, and Jesus Martinez, all of El Paso and six grandchildren:  Marco A. Martinez, Jr, Jonathan Martinez, Elijah Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Jacob Martinez, and Brayden Martinez, all of Odessa.        

Rosary will be 7:00 pm Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral mass will be at St Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Friday, January 15, 2010, Father Joe Uecker officiating.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jaime Ramirez Morales

Jaime Ramirez Morales, age 18, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Odessa on June 13, 1991 to Jaime Chacon Morales and Maria Veronica Ramirez.  He was a student at the Career Center. 

Jaime was the best son anyone could ask for.  He was a hard worker.  He liked to stay up late and sleep late, and loved to race cars.  He was the type of person who’d give the shirt off of his back to others and who had actually lain his jacket down over oil so others could walk across unsoiled.   

Those left behind to cherish his love and memory are his mother:  Maria Veronica Ramirez; grandmother:  Consuelo Ramirez; brother:  Bailey; two sisters:  Berenice and Quiana; and Gabe Baeza, who was like a father to him, all of Odessa. 

Rosary will be said 7:30 pm Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the funeral home.  Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Father Joe Uecker.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Omar Montoya, Jr. Aaron Montoya, Gabriel Baeza, Rodolfo Montoya, Ramon Author Modisett, Jesse Mendez, Isidro Ramirez Jr. and Willie Torres.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

Thomas "Tommy" Stanley Pearson
Thomas "Tommy" Stanley Pearson, age 87, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Fabens, TX on March 13, 1922 to Frederick W. Pearson and Mathilde (Hernandez) Pearson.  He was an Army Veteran of WWII.
 
He is survived by his wife Phyllis (Wheeler) Pearson of Odessa and son-in-law:  David Bennett of Odessa.       
 
Graveside services will be privately held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Robert Arthur Ayer

Robert Arthur Ayer, age 63, of Alpine, Texas, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Hospice House of Odessa.  He was born in Bath, Maine to William Leo Ayer and Lillian (Stailing) Ayer.  He was an electrician and a boat builder. 

He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years: Claire (Redlow) Ayer of Ft. Stockton and one daughter:  Wendy Ward of Minot, Maine.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Odessa.

Raymond Horace Lovinggood

Raymond Horace Lovinggood, age 80, of Odessa, was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Hospice House of Odessa.  He was born in Iraan, TX on January 21, 1929 to Horace Gerard Lovinggood and Tennie Fay (Gray) Lovinggood.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He worked for Marathon Oil for 43 years, and was a member of the West University Church of Christ. 

He is survived by his wife: Betty Lovinggood of Odessa; three sons:  Kenneth Reid of Bowie, TX, William Reid of Lubbock, TX, and Shawn Lovinggood; one daughter:  Misty Egge of Odessa; four sisters:  Theresa Byrd of San Angelo, Cecelia Wilson of Brownfield, Thelma Fiest of Oceola, IN, and Doris Meurer of Odessa; and ten grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8:00 pm Saturday, January 16, 2010.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Bro. Roy Jones.  Interment with full military honors will follow at Western Roses Memorial Park in Midland. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Catherine (McClelland) Wallette

Catherine (McClelland) Wallette, age 86, passed away early Thursday, January 14, 2010, at her home in Odessa, Texas.  She was born in Odin, Illinois on December 27, 1923 to Jonas and Goldie McClelland.  She married Earnest Sail Wallette, Jr. on November 7, 1942 in Salem, IL. 

She was an interior decorator, who enjoyed making the world a more beautiful place.  She loved to play Bingo.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are two daughters:  Charollette McBrayer of Odessa and Margaret DeBenedetto of Houston; one son:  Ronald Wallette of Houston; one brother:  Harold McClelland of Farmington, NM; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Her parents: Jonas and Goldie; husband: Earnest; two sons:  Larry and Robert; and three brothers:  Cecil, Loren, and Ray, precede her in death.    

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, officiated by her grandson, Rev. Farren Dunaway Mathena.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Anibal Hernandez

Anibal Hernandez, age 23, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010 in a car accident in West Odessa.  He was born in Odessa and was a lifetime Odessa resident.  He was Catholic.
 
He is survived by his mother:  Antonia Hernandez; grandmother:  Cristina Hernandez; grandfather:  Thomas Hernandez; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
 
Rosary will be said Monday, January 18, 2010 at 7:00 pm and Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 7:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, officiated by Father Arturo Pestin.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Maria Lucia Galindo

Maria Galindo, age 85, of Marfa, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Hospice House of Odessa.  She was born in Redford, TX on Christmas day of 1924.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marfa. 

She is survived by her daughter:  Maria C. Muñoz of El Paso; one sister:  Trine Morales of Marfa; two grandchildren:  May Rodriguez of El Paso and Rosa Strange of Las Cruces, NM; three great-grandchildren:  June, Ryan, and Risa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, January 25, 2010 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas.

Maria I. (Soria) Gonzales

Maria I. (Soria) Gonzales, age 85, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico on January 7, 1925 to J.L. and Irene (Garcia) Soria.  She was a missionary.  She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.   

She is survived by her two sons:  Joel Gonzales and wife Ruth of Lancaster, Calif. and Elias Gonzales of Odessa; four sisters:  Irene Soria Vasquez of Odessa, Nohemi S. West of San Antonio, Lidia S. Sanchez of Midland, and Rosa M. Soria-Debes of Odessa; five brothers:  Julio Soria of Anaheim, Calif., Jose Isaac Soria of Fort Worth, Daniel Soria of Monterey Park, Calif., David Soria of House, NM and Jonathan Soria of San Marcos, Calif.; four grandchildren:  Christopher, Timothy, Monica, and Alicia and five great-grandchildren:  Angelo, Andrew, Adrian, Raylene, and Adriana.       

A prayer service will be held 7:00 pm Friday, January 22, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, Brother John Lyons officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
