James Preston Banks was born on December 26, 1938 in Mingus, TX to Bert and Omadean Banks.  He took his place in Heaven beside his Lord on January 28, 2010, at his home with his family by his side.  He retired from Electracom Automation in 1988.  He married his soul mate, Shreda Partick, February 24, 1999.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He enjoyed taking trips with his wife and talking on his ham radio. 

He is survived by his wife:  Shreda Banks of Odessa; daughter: Sheli Woodson and husband Glen of Arlington, TX; step daughters:  Becky Biggerstaff and husband Kenny, Sheree Martin and husband Tony, and Sherill Sanders, all of Odessa; step son:  Stephen Sanders and wife Nita of Odessa; sisters:  Pat Gilliam of Odessa, Leeadria Clakely of Monahans, TX, Brenda Byrom of Odessa, and Doris Gage of Houston, TX; brothers:  Leo Banks of Strawn, TX and Frank Banks of Iowa Park, TX; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved friend and companion his dog Staci.      

He was preceded in death by his parents:  Bert and Omadean Banks; brothers:  Michael Banks and Prefis Banks; and sister:  Betty Nell Lewis.  

He will be missed by all who knew him. 

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Cross Roads Baptist Church.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

David Robert Weeks, Jr. age 59 of Midland passed away Saturday January 30, 2010. He was born June 15th, 1950 in Rotan, Texas to Dave Robert Weeks & Ina Faye Newsome. He grew up in Midland, Texas and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1969. He joined the U.S. Navy after graduation and served until 1971.

David was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and he will be dearly missed.

David is survived by a daughter, Lindsay Michele Weeks, a grandson Corben Chase Wynne of Blackwell, Texas, mother Ina Faye Weeks and brother Reggie Kenneth Weeks of Midland, Texas. A Private memorial will be held Saturday February 6th, 2010 to remember and celebrate David's life.

Steven Howard "Buzz" Pulda passed away on January 31, 2010 after a brief illness.  He is survived by his loving wife:  Susan (Menard) Pulda and her children:  Dan, Joe, Christina, and Kady Hovagimian.  He also leaves two grandchildren:  Kalley Reed and Autumn Carroll.  Steven is also survived by his sister:  Gale Pignataro, her husband Anthony, and brother: Michael Eszes and his wife Betty.  He is also the uncle of Tiana and Skyler Pignataro and Brandon and Heather Eszes. 

Steven was born July 18, 1957 in Worcester, MA to the late Philip Pulda and Elsie (Welch) Eszes.  He graduated from Boys Trade and later served in the US Coast Guard.  He moved to Pecos, TX in 2006 and was the owner of the Sunset Steakhouse.  A well known tattoo artist, Steven was instrumental in the legalization of tattoos in Massachusetts in 2000.  He had been both the owner and operator of Miraculous Creations and Mass Tattoos in Worcester.

Brenda Kay Kenney - Brych, age 59, was granted her angel wings Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by friends and family that Brenda had touched through her memorable life. She was born in Breckenridge, TX on December 8, 1950 to Don Chandler and Bernice (Clary) Chandler. 

For the last nine years she was employed by Permian Basin Community Centers. Brenda worked in the vocational programs helping those individuals with disabilities find employment or get ready to work. Her ability to show love and patience with those who were assigned to her will never be forgotten. Brenda was devoted to her work, but loved to travel in her spare time. She also enjoyed casinos, computer games, and gardening. She was a Baptist, great wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband Frank Brych of Odessa; mother:  Bernice Chandler of Odessa; three sons:  Gary Don Kenney and wife Amanda of Odessa, Weylon J. Kenney and wife Kathryn of Gardendale, and Aaron Kenney of Odessa; daughters:  Rebecca May and husband Dennis of Monahans, Catherine Balent and husband Jim of Sandy,  UT, and Carrie Hisel and husband Gabriel of Brownfield, TX; two brothers:  Cole and Eddie Chandler, both of Odessa; three sisters:  Barbara Nance of Odessa,  Glenda Parshall of Browntown, MI, and Linda Edwards of Fayetteville, TX: and seven grandchildren:  Joshua, Megan, Logan, Brikayli, Blaire, Levi, and Harli; nine additional grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 pm Friday, February 5, 2010 at Faith Community Baptist Church officiated by Brother Wayne Shelton.  Pallbearers will be Ted Hickey, Anthony Cobos, T.J. Rogers, Shiloh Chandler, Parker May, and Ronnie Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Blaire Kenney, Logan Kenney, Levi Kenney, Joshua Kenney, and Jackson Hisel.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.  We would like to thank all of the staff of MCH and the Iron Pig Motorcycle Club for their help and support.

Mrs. Lerma was a very kind person, who always gave good advice, whether you wanted it or not!  She was always warning others to be prepared – the Lord was coming.  She never played favorites, but loved each one of us the same, with the slight exception for her great-granddaughter who had had heart surgery – they always fought and argued and she held a special place in her great-grandma’s heart.  She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping.  She was a devout Catholic, devoted to the Virgin Mary. 

Her parents:  Antonio and Agrapino Galindo; her husband:  Guillermo Lerma; daughter:  Laura Alcorn; brother:  Antonio Galindo; and two sisters:  Pino Villalobos and Angelina Rascon, all preceded her to the Heavenly gates. 

Those left behind to “Be prepared” and look forward to seeing her again are her son:  Eustacio Lerma and wife Maryann Zeleski; daughters:  Marie Salinas and husband Gregg, Norma Gandara and husband Eddie, and Grace Lerma and husband Abel Wright, all of Odessa; eight grandchildren:  Anthony Salinas, Yvonne Cruz, Adam Anthony Ruiz, Tiphny Ruiz, Stevie Lerma, Angelina Camacho, Fabian Lerma, and Cassandra Alcorn, all of Odessa; five great-grandchildren:  Yanelli Cruz, Delilah, Desirae, Delizah, and Devony Lerma, all of Odessa; and one great-grandson on the way:  Ayden Guillermo Salinas. 

Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, February 8, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Joe Uecker.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include:  Anthony Salinas, Stevie Lerma, Fabian Lerma, Creepy Castro, Thumper Ruiz, Josh Salinas, and Michael Chavez.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.   

Keith David Hardin left this world on February 9, 2010 to be with our Lord.  Keith was born on January 15, 1957 in Lubbock, TX to Barbara E. Cline and Elbert J. Hardin.  He grew up in El Paso, TX.  He married Katherine Hill on March 3, 2003.  They settled in Odessa and started their family.

Keith had a career as a truck driver.  He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, motorcycle riding, and woodwork.  Most of all though, he loved just sitting on the porch with his family.

Keith was an amazing husband, father, brother, and friend.  Keith gave the kind of love that will last you a lifetime.  He will truly be missed.

Floyd  “Tom” Watson, age 70, passed from this life on Monday, February 15, 2010 at Hospice House of Odessa.  He was born in Raymondville, TX on March 16, 1939 to Floyd Scott Watson and Anna Laura (Wilcox) Watson.  He served our country in Vietnam, retiring from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service.  He also worked as an Assistant Service Manager for a Ford dealership for 14 years.

Tom married Carol Anderson in Lovington, NM on February 3, 1982.  They enjoyed 28 years together. He was a loving husband, proud father, father-in-law, and great friend.  He was an outstanding father, caring, supportive, and strong; never turning the kids down.  His family was included in all decisions.  He loved fishing and hunting, motorcycles, and was an airplane fanatic.  He also enjoyed video games and football, especially his Dallas Cowboys.  He liked driving around the countryside and accomplished his goal of making it to all of the lower 48 states.  

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol Anderson Watson, of Odessa; father:  Floyd Watson of El Centro, CA; one son:  Jeffrey Johnson of Schertz, TX; four daughters:  Deborah Barton, Anita Augustadt, Cheryl Preston, and Lisa Johnson, all of Odessa; one brother:  Jim Davenport of Washington; two sisters:  Hazel (Bonnie) Shaddy and Maejene Taylor of Yuma, AZ; nine grandchildren:  Angela, Vanessa, Michelle, Catrina, Chad, John, Brandon, Evin, and Aaronn; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Memorial services with full military honors will be 4:30 pm Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Chaplain Emmett Barnard.  Family visitation will follow until 6:30 pm.  Interment will be 2:00 pm Friday, February 19, 2010 at Texas Veteran’s Cemetery in Abilene, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
