Gary Wayne Evans
Gary Wayne Evans, age 39, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at his Odessa residence.  He was born in Mineral Wells, TX to George and Bessie Evans on May 15, 1970. He was Baptist.
 
His parents:  George Leynard Evans and Bessie Mae Morgan of Jal, NM survive him, as well as five brothers:  Dewayne Evans of Austin, Michael Evans, Sean Morgan, and Rick Morgan, all of Odessa, and Jerry Clayton, Jr. of Weatherford; and two sisters:  Mindy McBride and Tracie McBride of Weatherford, TX.
 
No services are scheduled at this time.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Norma Thompson

Norma Thompson, age 58, passed from this life on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in El Paso, TX on February 17, 1952 to William Allen and Refugio (Orozco) Strange.  She was an angel to those she served as a nurse at Medical Center Hospital.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was Catholic. 

Those left to cherish her love and memory include her husband of over 37 years:  Robert Thompson of Odessa; son:  Jimmy Thompson of Louisville, KT; four daughters:  Chantal Yvette Williamson, Amy Ruth Garcia, and Danielle Lynette Thompson, all of Odessa, and Sarah Elizabeth Thompson of Grandfalls, TX; one brother:  William Strange, Jr. of Odessa; four sisters:  Bertha Lahart of Odessa, Connie Ballenger of Austin, TX, Rita Coulson of Brownwood, and Irene Holthaus of Denver, CO; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Memorial services to honor her memory will be 6:00 pm Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Emmett Beasley.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

June Loraine Daniel

June Loraine Daniel, age 63, passed from this life on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Fort Worth on June 26, 1946.  She was called “June Bug” as a child, because she was a people person, who was always busy.  She was always ready with a helping hand for anyone who needed it. 

June was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Her cherished family includes her daughter:  Ginger Young and husband Ronald of Odessa; son:  Duncan Daniel and wife Tiffany of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and three brothers:  John Grimes and wife Jana of Austin, TX, Elton Grimes of Powderly, TX, and Travis Grimes of Odessa.  She was “Nonnie” to five grandchildren:  Cody Young and wife Miriam and Eric Young and wife Angel, all of Odessa, and Ashly Daniel, Aaron Daniel, and Savannah Lewis, all of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and three great-grandchildren:  Alyssa Young, Jessica Young, and Trent Young, all of Odessa. 

Her parents:  Bill and Evelyn Grimes, and one brother:  Troy Johnson, Jr. precede her in death.

The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, April 1, 2010 at West Odessa First Baptist Church at Flamingo and W. University Blvd., officiated by Pastor Glenn Clark.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will include:  Cody Young, Eric Young, Aaron Daniel, Josh Grimes, John Young, and Steve Young. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

James Lowell Wilson, II
James Lowell "Jamie" Wilson, II, age 55, passed away unexpectedly of heart failure on Monday, March 29, 2010.  He was born in Odessa on June 16, 1954 to James L. Wilson I and Patricia J. (Bell) Wilson.  He was a press man for Miller Gold.  He was a member of Zion Ministries and served his church for six years.  He served turkey dinners every year at Thanksgiving.  He loved Jesus, his Mama, and animals.  He was an old hippie, a cowboy, and a biker.
 
He is survived by his loving partner:  Billie Sue "Butterfly" Coe of Odessa; mother:  Patricia Wilson of Austin; step-son:  Brad Gass of San Angelo; brother:  Forrestt E. Wilson of Austin; grandfather:  Herbert E. Bell; niece:  Holland Quick of Davis, CA; uncle:  James D. and wife Judy Bell of Houston, TX; God Mother:  Wanda Barrett; and God Uncle:  Fred Gariepy.

His father:  James L. Wilson; grandmother:  M. Virginia Bell; grandparents:  Walt and Dot Wilson; aunt:  Peggy English and uncles:  Gordon and George L. Wilson precede him in death.
 
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Friday, April 2, 2010 at Zion Ministries, officiated by Bro. Dewey Blevins.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial to the food bank or Christmas fund at Zion Ministries may be made in Jamie's name.

 

James Louis Cooper
James Louis Cooper, age 78, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  He was a 40 year resident of Goldsmith.  He was born in Stanton, Texas on Nov. 16, 1931.  He retired from Phillips Petroleum after 43 1/2 years. 

James Louis Cooper married Dorothy Morrow on May 27, 1950 in Odessa, TX.  He went to work for Phillips Petroleum and moved to Goldsmith and later to Phillips Camp.  He was the last person to move out of the camp when it was shut down.

Louis was preceded in death by his mother:  Hazel Cooper Robbins; his father:  Cecil Cooper; and one sister:  Lucille Cooper.

He is survived by his wife:  Dorothy Cooper, four children, thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, April 2, 2010.  Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell.  Interment will follow at a later date at Union Hill Cemetery in Howell County, Missouri.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Darwin Junior Reyes Hill
Darwin Junior Reyes Hill, age 4 months, returned to the Lord on April 1, 2010 at Covenant Children's Hospital in Lubbock, TX.  He was born in Odessa on Thursday, November 26, 2009. 
 
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his parents - Darwin Reyes and April Nicole Hill of Odessa; maternal grandparents:  Ray and Maria Hill of Odessa; paternal grandparents:  Ernesto and Maria Reyes of Honduras; and one brother:  Robert Reyes of Odessa.
 
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Latter Rain Worship Center, 19th and Jackson Streets, officiated by Pastor Craig DeArmond.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Natividad Navarrette Cruz
Natividad Navarrette Cruz, age 75, passed away on Friday, April  2, 2010, at her home in Odessa, TX.  She was born in Cuchillo Parado, Mexico to Archadio and Isac (Rodriguez) Navarrette.  She was a homemaker.
 
She is survived by her five daughtersRomelia Mendoza, Felecita Nuńez, Maria Lujan, and Luz Montoya, all of Odessa and Irma Cruz of Weatherford, TX; three sonsManuel Cruz of Odessa, and Moses Cruz and Martin Cruz, both of Ojinaga, MX; one sisterJuanita Gonzalez of Odessa; two brothersJose Navarrette and Savas Navarrette, both of Odessa; twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren.
 
Rosary will be said at 7:30 pm Monday, April 5, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Interment will be at Cementerio de Canada Ancha in Ojinaga, CH, Mexico on Thursday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 am.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria de Rocha in Ojinaga.

Karen C. Ervin

Karen C. Ervin, age 63, passed from this life on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Hospice House of Odessa.  She was born in Waycross, GA on Tuesday, February 18, 1947 to Allen Harris, Jr. and Charlotte Harris.  She was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era. She was Baptist.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are two daughters:  Georgianna Harbin of Monahans, TX and Charlotte Jones of Commerce, GA; two brothers:  Steven Harris of Camp Verde, AZ and Larry Harris of Interlachen, FL; two sisters:  Becky Hayes and Beth Jordan, both of Blackshear, GA; and two grandchildren:  John Grady Harbin and Ethan Michael Harbin, both of Monahans.

Her parents:  Allen Grady Harris, Jr. and Charlotte (Seymour) Harris; husband:  Arthur W. Ervin; and brother:  Robert Harris, precede her in death.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pmMonday, April 5, 2010 at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veteran’s Home in Big Spring, TX, officiated by Rev. Robert Stone.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory

Glen Lee Spring

Glen Lee Spring, age 55, passed from this life on Monday, April 5, 2010. He was born on January 26, 1955 in Mansfield, OH to Byrdena Buzzard and Harold Spring. He was an owner operator truck driver until 2008. He then went on to work for the Ector County Road and Bridge Department until his passing. Glen enlisted in the Navy in 1973 and served on the USS New Orleans & USS Saratoga and was also part of the last evacuation out of Vietnam. He loved to Bar-B-Que, had a great sense of humor and had many friends.

Those left to cherish his love and memory include his wife: LaDawn Spring of Odessa; mother-in-law: Juanice Windham of Odessa; sister: Rhonda Mann and husband Ron of Monahans; nephew: Justin Smith of Dallas; brother: Harold Spring, Jr. of Lexington, OH; brother: Gail Spring of Salem, VA; brother: Les Spring and wife Bonnie of Gallion, OH; sister: Karen Boggs and husband John of Ontario, OH; sister: Heather Downing of Sacramento, CA; brother: Ronnie Hostetter and wife Bobbi of Mansfield, OH and many nieces and nephews.

Those preceding Glen in death are his mother and father and his sister: Bev Oswalt.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, April 7th, 2010 at Northside Baptist with Pastor Clydel Chapman officiating. Pall Bearers will be Steve McDaniel, Ron Mann, Jerry Woody, James Lopez, Justin Smith and Jeff Mann. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. Sandy Lynne Threatt Fulfer Varnell

Sandy Lynne Threatt Fulfer Varnell, age 57, was born October 10, 1952 in Odessa, TX to James and Armittie Threatt of Odessa. On April 9, 2010, God was working in his garden of angels and decided to take one of his precious angels home with him. Sandy was a very hard worker in all aspects of her life. She worked at Cozy Country Kennels as an animal care giver. She previously worked at Jojo’s Drive Inn and Pizza Hut. She will be greatly missed by her family, her many friends, and customers she had over the years. Sandy was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend to many people. Sandy passed on at her home.

Survivors include her husband: David Varnell of Odessa; her son: James Fulfer and wife Charlotte of Odessa; a daughter: Becky Durham and husband Paul of Aransas Pass, TX; six grandchildren: Ariel Lundberg of Aransas Pass, Christopher and Zachary Fulfer of Odessa, Chad Durham and James Daniel Durham, both of Aransas Pass, and Kimberly Frazier of Odessa; two great-grandkids: Kaylee and Jessica Fraizer, both of Odessa; one brother: Travis Threatt; two sisters: Kaye Patterson and Anne Bowman of Odessa; and many friends.

Sandy never met a stranger; she would make friends with anyone. Sandy was a loving mother and wife, who cared for her family very much. She had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off her back if it would help someone out. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church. She married Jerry Fulfer in 1971. He preceded her in death. Sandy married David Varnell some years later and spent the last fourteen years with him. She attended Odessa High School and was a long time Bronchos fan. She was a Boy Scout leader and Girl Scout leader for several years. She was a J.R.O.T.C Mom as well.

Services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel with James Fulfer officiating. Services will be held at 5pm Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Burial will follow at the Varnell Family Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Rae E. Ward-Judd

Rae E. Ward-Judd, age 75, shed her earthly body for angel's wings on  Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Hospice House. While those of us remaining will miss her a lot, those already in heaven are welcoming her home with open arms and lots of love.  She was born Rachael Elizabeth King on Saturday, May 5, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA to Charlie Henderson King and Margaret Florence McGrory and was raised a Methodist.  Her first job was for the Library of Congress as a bookkeeper.  She then moved west to Las Vegas and worked as a photographer, but soon found her way to Texas which became her home and her love.  Rae's creativeness could be seen in everything she did; an artist, a homemaker and an interior decorator, she worked as a model for White & Kirk, a department store in Amarillo, and was a participant in the Ms. Maryland Beauty Pageant.  Rae stayed involved in the community through charity work and club membership.  Rae’s biggest passion was her work for the Republican Party in which she was the Chairman of Community Affairs for the Republican Women’s Club.  Rae was a devoted wife, a loving, kind and caring mother and a trusted friend.  She was a beautiful, fun-loving and outgoing woman who loved life, family, the mountains, to tell jokes, host parties and travel.  Rae touched many lives during her stay here, had lots of friends and would give the shirt off her back to help someone. She was quoted as saying “I kept all my rubbish and gave all my good stuff away” Rae always had the good Lord in her heart.

Juli would like to thank those who loved and cared for her mother. God Bless each and every one of you, she will be missed tremendously.

Jimmie Lee Hill

Jimmie Lee Hill, age 67, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2010. He was born on Friday, July 10, 1942 in Glendale, AZ to Walter George Hill and Martelle Phillips. Jimmie served his country in the Navy and was a member of the IBEW union. He married the love of his life Elaine Hill on July 21, 1985 in Odessa. He was a Baptist.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of Odessa; two sons: Ricky Fulks of Sherman, TX and Jonnie Fulks of Azle, TX; three daughters: Cleasie Williams of San Antonio, Christonya Hill of Austin and Jamie Hidalgo of Camp Wood, TX; one sister: Florence Riley of Denison, TX; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 am Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel officiated by Brother Wayne Shelton. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Adela Morales Hernandez

Adela Morales Hernandez, age 54, passed from this life on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born on April 3, 1956 in Presidio to Jesus Aguilar and Petra Marufo. She married Mario Hernandez on September 23, 2007 in Odessa. Adela was a wonderful woman. She was a certified nurse’s assistant and a homemaker.  She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Those left to cherish her love and memory include her husband: Mario Hernandez of Odessa; two sons: Jesus Manuel Aguilar of Odessa and Jason Morales of Greenville, TX; two brothers: Frankie and Ricky Aguilar, both of Odessa; three sisters: Natalia Torres, Prisciliana Morales and Socorro Chavez, all of Odessa; seven grandchildren: Sarai Carrasco, Esperanza Aguilar, Jesus Aguilar Jr., Alivia Aguilar, Alyzebeth Aguilar, Esteban Aguilar, all of Odessa and Dakota Morales of Phoenix, AZ; and one great grandchild: Anahi Rodriguez of Odessa. We will miss you and always love you.

A rosary is scheduled for 7 pm Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 11 am Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father Arturo Pestin. Pallbearers will be Jason Morales, Fernando Vega, Juan Chavez, Minnie Orona, Robert Chavez and Ricky Aguilar. Honorary Pallbearer will be Victor Cadena.
