| Tracy D. Hill |
|
Tracy D. Hill went home to be with his Lord and
Savior Monday, May 10, 2010 at his home in Odessa with his family
gathered at his side. He fought a long and hard battle, exceeding many
timelines that had been placed on his short time here on earth. Tracy
was such a fighter that would never complain. During his struggle, if
asked how he was he would always give that answer that “I’m Okay”, when
all knew differently. He
was such a man with a strong will to fight and be here for his family.
Just in the last weeks of his life, Tracy stated he was tired and ready
to go home. It was then that we knew his fight was over and he was
going to God’s home for a place of peace and no more pain. Over 25 years ago, Tracy came from Clinton, OK to
Odessa, TX with no intentions on staying. He met Suzanne Kirby and her
three small boys, through a mutual friend, just by coincidence. The
story goes from there as Tracy, Suzanne and the three small children
were married December 14, 1985 and they have been a wonderful family
that has grown over the years. Tracy also had two sons of his own, Jay
and Terry. He longed for their phone calls and visits over the years.
He never gave up on his boys and always kept them in his
thoughts even in long periods of absence. He was at peace as he had
seen and had contact with both of them. Tracy was born in El Paso, TX on November 21, 1941
to Nolan Hill and Jeannie A. Sumpter. He entered the Marines in 1958
and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He worked as a welder, tool pusher,
and driller. Drilling rigs were his passion for years. He was an avid
Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan. You could always see him
rooting his favorite team on. Tracy was an excellent cook and loved to
cook and have the family over on Sunday evenings. Family was so special
to him. With six boys, in 2003 a baby granddaughter was born that would
be living near. Tracy was never so excited to have his Ashlyn in his
life as his “little princess”. He loved all of his grandchildren each
and in a special way and wanted the best for each. One of his proudest
days was when he became “Papa” for the first time in 1993 with the
birth of Christopher. He took this love on his vacations and all
around. Tracy was a quiet man but had so much love to share. Being so
quiet, Tracy was more laid back and calm while Suzanne was chatting
away. Tracy would always
tell her she was like a bull in a china cabinet. We love and miss you dearly, but know you are now
at peace. Until we meet again- our love. He is preceded in death by his parents, his
grandparents: Grandma and Daddy Hill, a sister: Sharron Gray, a niece:
Debbie Fairbanks, and a grandson: Danzen Hill. He is survived by his wife: Suzanne Hill of
Odessa; five sons: Jay Hill (Stephanie) of Abilene, TX, Chad Waite of
Denver City, TX, Jason Waite (Lisa), and Casey Waite (Rachel) all of
Odessa, and Terry Hill of Clayton, NM; four grandchildren: Christopher
and Ashlyn Waite, both of Odessa, TX, Caden Hill of Abilene, TX, and
Emily Hill of Clarksville, AR, and one brother: David Fairbanks (Emily)
of College Station, TX, and one special cousin: Jackie Lee Townsend
(Richard) of Wolfforth, TX. Family visitation will be at Acres West on
Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm
Friday, May 14, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Pastor John McLemore
of Belmont Baptist Church, where Tracy was a member, will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. Online
