David Wilbur Kuhlmann, age 67, passed from this life on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Hospice House of Odessa. He was born in Auburn, NE on August 3, 1943 to Wilbur and Eileen Kuhlmann. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Before moving to Odessa, he was a Captain in the Nebraska National Guard. David owned and operated Kuhlmann Construction in Odessa since 1974. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0430 and member and past president of Eagles Lodge #2914.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy Kuhlmann of Odessa; two sons: David Kuhlmann and wife Janna and Bradley Scott Kuhlman and wife Myra, all of Odessa; daughter: Shari Kuhlmann of Odessa; step-son: James Mahan and wife Michelle of Odessa; step-daughters: Terri Marshall and husband Les of San Antonio and Debbie Stevenson of Austin; two brothers: Darold Kuhlmann and wife Betty of Horseshoe Bend, ID and Dale Kuhlmann and wife Glenda of Emmett, ID; sister: Sandra Sasser and husband Don of Emmett, ID; brothers-in-law: Leonard Betzel and wife Cathy of California and Russell Betzel and wife Doris of Kansas City, KS; sister-in-law: Linda Else of Odessa; fifteen grandchildren: Joe Dorman and wife Jacquelynn, Jayson Dorman, Brianna Kuhlmann, Aiden Kuhlmann, Clayton Jones, Casey Jones, Michael D. Bell, Leslie Marshall, Amy Anderson and husband Jason, Ashley Marshall, Grant Marshall, Kristin Cowan, Andrew Mahan, Dylan Mahan, and Kolten Mahan; two great-grandsons: Brady Dorman and Zachary Marshall; four nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services with military honors will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jerry Bagwell. Esperanza Escarcega Rivas, age 84, passed away on her birthday, Friday, September 3, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Ruidosa, TX to Francisco and Ladislada Rivas. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her five daughters: Teresa Baeza of Levelland, and Juana Ruiz , Frances Sanchez , Esperanza Gardea, and Adela Escarcega, all of Odessa; five sons: Jose Escarcega , Ismael Escarcega , Manuel Escarcega , Lalo Escarcega, and Cesar Escarcega, all of Odessa; one brother: Manuel Rivas of Hobbs, NM; twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Her parents, husband: Palacido Escarcega, son: Jesus Escarcega, grandson: Alexis Sanchez, and siblings: Francisco Rivas, Jr, Alfonso Rivas, Eloy Rivas, Jesus Rivas, Pilar Rivas, and Lupe Acosta, precede her in death.

Amy Jo (Autry) Jimenez, of Odessa, passed away suddenly Sunday,
September 5, 2010, in Odessa at the age of 32. She was born in El
Paso on October 29, 1977 to Francisco "Frank" Autry and Josefina Lugo
Tello. She was an LVN. She was a beloved wife, mother,
sister, daughter, niece, aunt, and friend, who left behind a beautiful
Christian example to her girls.
Graveside services will be at 10 am Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Libby Monique (Wilson) Hancock, age 61, of Odessa, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Monahans, TX on July 24, 1949 to John Thomas Wilson and Dona Frances (Burrow) Wilson. She was a Certified Medical Assistant and Certified Nurse’s Assistant in home healthcare.
She was a good cook and an animal lover. She had cats and a beloved dog, “Laila”. She raised her children on her own, and worked hard, raising other children also. Everyone knew her as “Mom”. She had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor. She loved all of her patients and they loved her in return. Although she seemed to get the most difficult patients, they always ended up loving her.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters: Brandi Trotter and husband Rusty and Stormy (Lovey) Pittman and partner Barbara Wolff; two sons: Duane Hancock and Kevin Hancock and wife Faith McClaskey, all of Odessa; one sister: Linda Kay Butts of Euless; brother: John Mark Wilson and wife Debbie of Burleson; three grandchildren: Kamon (Tooter) Trotter, Shelby (Diva) Dawn Trotter, and Trevor James McClaskey; and her bestest friend: Tricia Bentley of Odessa.

Gerardo Acosta, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at his Odessa residence. He was born in Las Pocitas, Mexico on October 3, 1923. He was a laborer. He was Catholic.
He is survived by his two daughters: Edelmira Hernandez of Odessa and Lorena Herrera of Midland; two sons: Rene Acosta Levario and Fernando Acosta Levario, both of Odessa; four sisters: Petronila Sanchez, Cruz Acosta, Chela Acosta, and Erminia Acosta, all of Mexico; one brother: Manuel Acosta of Mexico; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
His parents: Jorge Acosta and Teresa Polanco Contreras Acosta, and his wife: Amanda Levario Acosta, precede him in death.

Anita S. Johnson, age 60, of Odessa, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 6, 1949. She was a purchasing agent.
She is survived by four daughters: Barbara Norris of Odessa, Debbie Johnson of Fort Worth, Paula Mayes of Odessa, and Stephanie Haveman of Fort Stockton; one son: Richard Johnson of Odessa; one sister: Lisa Haber of Pensacola, Fla.; four brothers: David Hicks of Beaver Dam, Wis., Robert Hicks of Pensacola, Fla., Buddy Hicks of Orlando, Fla., and Larry Hicks of Pensacola, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 10:00 am Saturday, September 11, 2010, officiated by Pastor Mike Wright. Interment will be at Seagraves Cemetery in Seagraves, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

He was a member of the First Church of God and had been a
resident of Odessa for the past 55 years.

He was a retired US Army Veteran.

Mantooth of San Antonio and Mike Moore of Austin; daughter: Oma Lynn Ellis of Colorado Springs; step-sons: Dave Savage of Odessa and Dickie Criswell of Del Rio, TX; step-daughter: Tony Clark of Lubbock; four sisters: Fairy Mantooth of Odessa, Margaret Webb of Irving, Billie Patterson of Mt. Irma (Clark) Wood, age 59, passed from this life on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at her home. She was born in Booneville, MO on December 22, 1950 to Ulyses Grant Clark, Jr. and Betty Lou (Bailey) Clark. She married Fred Wood on October 23, 1970 in Odessa. She was a US Air Force medic in Vietnam.
She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Tiffany, Ace, and Caitlin were particularly close to her heart. She mothered everyone around her and had a deep love for all living creatures great and small. She was a foster mother for abandoned kittens; bottle feeding many, nursing them to health and preparing them for loving homes through Paws Cat Rescue Haven House. Her loving nature made her invaluable to her family and grandbabies and a joy to all who met her.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband: Fred L. Wood, Jr. of Odessa; three sons: Fred Wood III and wife Trish of Odessa, Josiah Wood of Odessa, and Jacob Wood of Victorville, CA; three daughters: Christina Flowers of Lubbock, Vanessa Boland and husband Curtis of Pampa, and Catherine Watkins of Odessa; two sisters: Wanda Lackey and Vickie Lee, both of Odessa; and eleven grandchildren: Heather Conkle, Veronica Conkle, Tiffany Britton, Destinee Conkle, Ace Britton, Colby Boland, Caitlin Wood, Hanna Boland, Jordan Watkins, Samantha Watkins, and Gracyn Boland.

Doreen Cooper Griffith, age 87, passed away on
Sunday, September 12, 2010.
She was born October 1, 1922, in Leicester, England, but
spent most of her childhood in Melbourne, Australia.
She worked on an Army base during WWII where she met
American G.I. Lloyd Cooper, whom she married on December 20, 1942.
With her toddler son in tow, she came to the United States
as a war bride in 1945, traveling on the SS Monterey and settling
in Arkansas where a daughter and second son were born.
The family moved to Odessa in 1961, and Mr. Cooper passed
away in 1965. She was
then married to W. A. Griffith in 1966 until his passing in 1980.
She had various jobs after moving to Odessa,
but one of her proudest achievements was managing the gift shop at
Odessa Women’s & Children’s Hospital for 25 years.
She worked until she was 80 years old.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother who was an artist at heart and enjoyed expressing
herself through ceramics, stained glass and painting; she also
loved teaching painting to those who shared her passion.
She was an accomplished knitter, having learned that skill
as a child, and especially enjoyed knitting
baby blankets and caps for the hospital
auxiliary infant bereavement project.
Mourning her loss and cherishing her memory
