Jesus Madrid

Jesus Madrid, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  He was born in Presidio, TX on March 6, 1936 to the late Antonio and Monica (Galindo) Madrid. He was a welder.

Survivors include his daughters: Nora Madrid of Odessa, Cris Primera of Monahans, and Monica Madrid of Decatur, TX; brothers: Basilio Madrid and Albert Madrid, both of Odessa; sister: Manuela Waddington of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A prayer service will be held 7:00 pm Monday, November 29, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, November 30 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Pastor Frank Cedillos.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden in Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Joel E. Garcia

Joel E. Garcia, age 52, of Odessa, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.  He was born in Imperial, TX on March 27, 1958.  He was a chef at Golden Corral.

He is survived by his father:  Humberto Garcia of Presidio; three daughters:  Shannon Garcia and husband Juan Gomez of Artesia, NM, and Lorena Garcia and Desirea Ayriah Garcia both of Odessa; one son:  Joel Garcia, Jr. of Odessa, two sisters:  Olga Sanchez and husband Juan of Odessa and Mary Ordonez and husband Pablo of Monahans; four brothers:  Eddie Garcia, David Garcia, Henry Garcia and Humberto Garcia, Jr. all of Visalia, CA; and one grandson:  Ayden Gomez; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

His mother:  Rosa Esparza Garcia, preceded him in death. 

Funeral services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2010, Fr. Bernardito Getigan officiating.  Interment will follow at the Presidio Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Dwayne Watson

Walton Dwayne Watson, age 70, of Gardendale, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Buena Vida Nursing Home in Odessa, Texas.  He was born in San Angelo, TX on December 11, 1939 to Moody and Loren (Barnes) Watson.  He served in the US Navy for several years.  Dwayne married Betty Rickard on March 7, 1975 in Lovington, NM.  They had recently celebrated 35 years together.  Mr. Watson was retired from working as a shop foreman for Rig Works.  He was a loving husband, dad, and devoted granddad.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty Watson of Gardendale; three daughters:  Geri Williams and husband Steve of Lubbock, Jodi Cook and husband Todd of Odessa, and Sherry Watson of Tucson, AZ; two sons:  Terry Watson of San Diego, CA and Dave Watson of Tucson, AZ;  seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

His parents and one son:  Danny Watson, precede him in death.

Special thanks go out the loving staff of Home Hospice and Buena Vida Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 2, 2010, officiated by Pastor Johnny Thomason.  Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.   Pallbearers will include Todd Cook, Stephen Knight, Michael Hernandez, Steve Williams, Mike Alcorn, and J. W. Brake.   Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Hilton Dean Goff

Hilton Dean Goff, age 18, of Iraan, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater, Texas, after a fatal car accident.  He was born in Odessa on December 1, 1991 to Benny Goff and Mary CeCelia (Cawley) Goff.  He was a 2010 graduate of Iraan High School and was currently attending TSTC.  He loved all of his classmates and friends.

He was a very active person who enjoyed playing football in high school, and doing almost anything outdoors.  He would fish, hunt, and ride dirt bikes and loved going to the lake.  He also did woodworking and played Xbox.  He was a hard worker who loved people and was much loved in return.  He was Daddy’s helper and Mamma’s boy and looked up to and adored his sister.  He always wore a big smile and everyone who met him, loved him, whether they were young or old. 

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his parents:  Benny and Sissy Goff of Iraan; sister:  Ashley Goff of Odessa; grandparents:  Terry and Judy Cawley of Odessa; great-grandmother:  Learneda Schneider of Odessa; aunts and uncles:  Garland and LaTayne Reid of Odessa, Terri and Jerry Tucker of Odessa, and Sam and Deanna Goff, of Warner, OK; and numerous cousins.

His grandparents:  Hilton and Carolyn Goff, precede him in death.

Funeral services will be at Iraan High School Auditorium at 4:00 PM Friday, December 3, 2010, Bro. Mac Deaver officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, in Odessa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iraan Ex Student Association, PO Box 1084, Iraan, TX 79744. 

Billie June McCain

Billie June McCain, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, entered into eternal rest in the early morning hours of Monday, December 6, 2010 at Hospice House of Odessa.  She was born in Levelland, Texas on May 25, 1951 to George and Lois Wright, moving early in her life to Odessa.  She married Jackie McCain in Odessa on April 3, 1966.  They enjoyed almost 45 years together.  During this time they became proud parents of three children, loving grandparents to five grandchildren, then doting great-grandparents to their first great grandbaby.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Jackie McCain of Odessa; two daughters:  Angie Sly and husband David and Tammie Weiershausen and husband Waylon, all of Odessa; one son:  Michael McCain and wife Shannon of Aztec, NM; five grandchildren:  Sydney, Miles, Brandon, Michaela, and Montana; and one great-granddaughter:  Jacie.

A family visitation at the funeral home will be Friday evening, December 10, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Craig DeArmond.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
 

Angelica Nevaeh Hardin

Angelica Nevaeh Hardin, an angel from Heaven, blessed us with her presence on Earth from July 11, 2009 until December 7, 2010.  She was born in Odessa and returned to Heaven from Lubbock, TX. 

Angelica was always happy and had a beautiful smile lighting up her face.  She loved to wrestle around with her brothers and play peek-a-boo.  She was much loved by her family and extended family, including eight doting cousins.

Those left to cherish their short time with Angelica are her parents:  Michael and Kristina Prudencio of Odessa; brothers:  Joseph, Logan, and David Prudencio, all of Odessa; paternal grandparents: Savanna and James Cody of Lovington, NM, Steve and Teresa Prudencio of Hobbs, NM, and Bobby and Rhonda McCraw of Lubbock; and maternal grandparents:  Mary Hardin of Odessa and Billy and Brenda Hardin of Lovington, NM.

Graveside services will be 10:00 am Friday, December 10, 2010 at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Matt Wilson.  Funeral services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Renate (Kinkel) Van Riel

Renate (Kinkel) Van Riel, age 73, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December  8, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Frankfurt, Germany on May 21, 1937 to Josef and Auguste (Zuegel) Kinkel.  She was a bookkeeper and a member of the Church of God. 

She is survived by her two sisters:  Lieselotte K. Tumlison of Montgomery, AL and Ursula Stryk of Frankfurt, Germany; one brother:  Joachim Kinkel of Frankfurt, Germany; and her ex-husband:  Farid Yahiachikh.       

Memorial services will be privately held.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas.

Nova Jean McCann

Nova Jean McCann, age 67, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Odessa to Henry Adolf and Dorothy (Stuart) Froelich on April 9, 1943.  She married the love of her life, Ronnie McCann, in Odessa and they raised three children together. She was a homemaker, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Ronnie McCann of Odessa; three sons: Gene McCann, Dean McCann, and Seth McCann, all of Odessa; brother: Henry Froelich Jr of Andrews; sister: Anita Ann Fry of Tulsa, OK; and four grandchildren: Tyler McCann, Jerrod McCann, Logan McCann, and Cameron McCann, all of Odessa.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, December 10, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Wayne Shelton.  Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Janice Megan ( J. Megan) Downs

Janice Megan ( J. Megan) Downs, age 24, of Odessa, was taken from us unexpectedly Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in La Grange, TX on July 29, 1986 to Scott and Michele Downs.  She was a 2004 graduate of Odessa High School, where she had participated in the Bronchettes.  She went on and graduated from Southwestern Institute with her medical assistant’s license in 2006.

Janice was a bright, cheerful, and loving person with a really big heart.  She was always there for her friends and family and everyone loved and respected her.  She could boss her brothers like no one else.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her mother:   Michele Davis of Odessa; soulmate and companion:  Chris Pinson of Odessa; paternal grandparents:  Karen and Covan Downs of Artesia, NM; maternal grandparents:  Mike and Pam Pettigrew of Yuma, AZ; daughter:  Elizabeth Pinson of Odessa; and four brothers:  Jason Michael Pettigrew Downs, Jacob Mitchell Pettigrew Downs, Joshua Charles Jolly, and Michael Bassam Ali, all of Odessa.

Her father:  Scott Downs and her uncle:  Matthew Kimbro precede her in death.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Bro. Dewey Blevins.  Graveside services will be 10 am MST, Monday, December 13, 2010 at Artesia Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, NM.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

Robert William Haynes, Jr.

Robert William Haynes, Jr. age 79, passed away on Thursday, December 09, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital of Odessa.  He was born in Brownfield, TX on August 27, 1931 to Raymond Weeks Haynes and Lillian Mae (Shewmake) Haynes.  He was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Odessa and the Masonic Lodge AM and FM #95 of Pueblo, Colorado.  He was a retired ironworker.

He is survived by his son:  Robert W. Haynes III of Tallahassee, FL; two daughters:  Sandy Mehlhoff of Odessa and Debbie Campbell of Ft. Worth; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor John Lyons.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

 
Stephen Verner Jetton

Stephen Verner Jetton passed away Friday, December 10, 2010. He was born on Thursday, August 8, 1946 in Manhattan, KS to Eldon Verner and Margaret (Hardenbrook) Jetton. He served in the US Army, and was a Vietnam Veteran.  Stephen married the love of his life, Charlotte Slape, on May 28, 1965 in El Paso. They shared over 45 wonderful years together.

Mr. Jetton was an electronics technician until retirement. In recent years, he was a substitute teacher for ECISD. He spent time as a volunteer docent at the Commemorative Air Force Museum. Other hobbies included a profound love of history and remote controlled airplanes.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Charlotte Jetton of Odessa; two daughters: Heather Jetton Ojala of Brandon, VT and Colleen Jetton of La Fayette, CA; and one grandchild: Rowan Jetton Ojala of Brandon, VT.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Samuel Jetton; and sister: Diane Jetton.

Graveside services with military honors will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, TX 79761. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Randy Gene Baumguardner

Randy Gene Baumguardner, age 53, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at his residence in Notrees. He was born in Brownwood, TX on September 19, 1957 to Samuel L. Baumguardner and Bonnie Edwards Baumguardner. He was a welder. 

He is survived by his mother: Bonnie Bass and her husband Jessie of Odessa; brother: Sam Baumguardner of Notrees; and sister: Debra Richardson of Bayfield, CO. 

He was predeceased by his father.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

Billy Lee Camp, Jr.

Billy Lee Camp, Jr. age 54, passed from this life on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Odessa on November 20, 1956 and was an Odessa High School graduate.  He worked in the oilfield for many years and also welded and built fences for Mr. Del Nesmith on his ranch.  He traveled to Tokyo for a drilling company and with the railroad across the U.S. on their maintenance crew.

Billy cared deeply for animals and was very involved with the Humane Society of Odessa. He also loved gardening, having his own flower garden and vegetable garden.  He also enjoyed playing billiards.  He was a caring person who took wonderful care of “Grannie Wanda” before her passing. 

Billy was one who loved sharing a good joke and he often made up his own funny anecdotes.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brother:  Tony Camp and wife Tonya of Jefferson; niece:  Michelle Stevens Rea, husband Jeff, and family of Odessa; niece:  Stephanie Stevens Lee, husband Robert, and family of Odessa; niece:  Cassandra Camp Belk, husband Robert, and family of Odessa; nephew:  Tony Lynn Camp, Jr. of Odessa; aunt:  Joyce Redwine of Eldorado; great-nieces; great-nephews and many cousins.

His parents:  Billy Lee Camp, Sr. and Wanda Nadine (Taliaferro) Camp and sister:  Karen Camp Stevens, preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 20, 2010 at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Terry Tamplen.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Helen May Varnell

Helen May Varnell, age 81, passed from this life on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Canton, IL on September 14, 1929 to the late Frank and Dorothy (Ford) Cozadd.  She was a seamstress for most of her life, having sewed awnings and worked in a blue jean factory.  She was Baptist.

Helen married Charles William Varnell in June of 1947 in Illinois.  He preceded her in death in April of 1978.  Their daughter, Ruby, also precedes her in death.

Mrs. Varnell is survived by her sons:  David Varnell and Danny Varnell, both of Odessa, and Donny Varnell of Rockford, IL; daughter:  Ruth Varnell of New Jersey; two brothers:  Eugene and Robert Cozadd, both of Illinois; two sisters:  Charlotte Cozadd of Illinois and Elaine Smith of Concho Valley, TX; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Memorial services will be held Friday, December 17, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 2:00 pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
