Rosa Tarin Perez

Rosa Tarin Perez, age 84, of Odessa passed from this life on Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Lubbock, TX. She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on August 30, 1926 to Estanislao and Nasaria (Tarin) Perez. She was a homemaker. 

Survivors include her sons: Alfredo Munoz of Carlsbad, NM, and Arturo Munoz of Ojinaga, Mexico; daughters: Belzo Perez Rios of Presidio, TX, Gloria Perez Sotelo and Elsa Perez, both of Odessa; brother: Antonio Perez of Ojinaga, MX; sisters: Nasaria Perez and Consuelo Perez Rodriguez, both of Ojinaga, MX; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held in Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria De Valle of Ojinaga, MX. 

Thomas Wayne Ferguson

Thomas Wayne Ferguson, age 72, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his residence in Odessa. He was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on January 10, 1938 to the late Wayne Ford Ferguson and Mattie Loue (Murray) Ferguson. He was an oilfield driller. 

He enjoyed collecting guns and knives and owned a few horses in his younger years.  He always took care of others.  Where ever he lived, if someone needed help, Thomas was there for them.

Survivors include his sons: Barry L. Ferguson of Lovington, NM, and Mike T. Ferguson and Shane T. Ferguson, both of Odessa; daughters: Penny D. Ferguson of Yakima, WA and Connie Mullins of Odessa; brothers: Lloyd Ferguson of Sylacauga, AL, and Charles Ray Ferguson of Redlion, PA; sister: Jenny Ferguson of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Mary Helen Sanders

Mary Helen Sanders, age 71, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born in San Angelo, TX to James Andrew Bushong and Hazel Catherine (Connelly) Bushong on July 18, 1939.

Survivors include her mother: Hazel Bushong of Odessa; sons: Stephen Sanders and David Sanders, both of Odessa; daughter: Cathy Sanders of Odessa; brothers: George Bushong and Gerald Bushong, both of Odessa, and Lewis Bushong of Abilene, TX; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Family visitation services will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Bro. Paul Thompson. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Patricia Ann Sisson

Patricia Ann Sisson, age 71, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born in Roswell, NM on October 19, 1939 to the late Porter and Jewell (Ackerman) Garner.  She was a florist. 

Survivors include her son: Rick Sisson of Odessa; daughter: Rae Ann Neatherlin of Fruita, CO; sister: Sandy De Moss of Odessa; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Memorial services will be at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Larry Hood. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jesus Hinojosa Cervantes

Jesus Hinojosa Cervantes, age 71, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at his home.    He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on July 14, 1939.  He was a farmer.  He was Catholic.

He is survived by four daughters:  Yolanda Hinojosa, Armina Rivera of Midland, Consuelo Silva of Austin, and Patricia Dominguez of Midland; three sons:  Jesus Hinojosa, Facundo Hinojosa , and Cesar Hinojosa, all of Odessa; two sisters:  Elva Baeza of Marfa and Maria Rios of Ojinaga;  one brother:  Jose Hinojosa of Odessa; twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.   

Services and interment will be at a later date at Cementerio de Maijoma in Maijoma, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa.

Vincent Max Woodard, Jr.

Vincent Max Woodard, Jr. "Butch", age 50, passsed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at his residence in Odessa. He was born in Hobbs, NM on June 9, 1960.  He was a driller in the oilfield.

Survivors include his mother:  Wilma Kipgen; son: Benjamin Woodard; daughters: Christi Smith, Brandie Woodard, Candice Stell, Alicia Lewis, and Angie Pond; brothers: Ronnie Woodard and Vernon Woodard; sisters: Denise Woodard and Eliane Hawk; and ten grandchildren, all of Odessa.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Pastor Carrie Stanton. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

Calvin Travis "C. T." Huffman

Calvin Travis Huffman, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at his residence in Odessa. He was born Rankin, TX on November 17, 1930 to the late Samuel and Clara Mae (Goode) Huffman. He was an oilfield mechanic.

Survivors include his wife: Rose Huffman of Odessa; daughters: Deborah Kay McComas of Odessa and Kellye Fondren of Santa Clara, CA; brothers: Carl L. Huffman of McCamey, TX and Dulyn B. Huffman of Gardendale, TX; sister: Ovella G. Cooper of McCamey, TX; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Rankin Cemetery.   Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Judy Mae Tarwater

Judy Mae Tarwater, age 62, of Midland, passed from this life on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Midland Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Big Spring, TX to Richard and Katie Mae Warden on March 21, 1948.  She was a retired school bus driver.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter:  Joy McMillion of Mineral Wells; son:  Richard "Shane" Tarwater and wife Martha of Midland; three sisters:  Mary Warden of Mineral Wells, Pat Taylor of Houston, and Shirley Bailey of Granbury; one brother:  Frank Warden and wife Susan of Cleburne; five grandchildren:  Michael, John, Josh, Rachel and husband Joshua Smith, and Sarah; and one great-granddaughter:  Madison Smith.     

Her parents:  Richard and Katie Warden; first husband:  Milton Wayne Tarwater; second husband:  Raymond Lee Washburn; sister:  Nadene Hulsey; and her son:  Milton Wayne Tarwater, Jr. precede Judy in death.

Graveside services will be at Brad Cemetery at 3:00 PM Monday, January 10, 2011, Ted Oliver officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.
Dillon Davis Hogans

Permian High School football manager, Dillon Davis Hogans, age 19, lost a long battle with muscular dystrophy on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Odessa Regional Medical Center.  He was born in Fort Worth on November 19, 1991 to Barry Wade Hogans, Sr. and Cheryl Christine Hogans. 

Dillon will be sorely missed by a host of family and friends.  His father: Barry Wade Hogans, Jr. and fiancée Shelly Hammer of Odessa; brothers:   Ross Wade Hogans of Weatherford and Logan Patrick Hammer of Ft. Worth; paternal grandparents:  Barry Wade Hogans, Sr.  and Janette Hogans of Ft. Worth;  great aunt and uncle:  Chuck and Dee Gray of Odessa; great-grandmothers:  Ethel Davis Wooten of Odessa and Frankie Trivette of Ft. Worth; aunts and uncles:  Vikki Trammell and Michael Ard of Bells, TX, and Brian Wayne Hogans and Brandy Hogans and Marilyn Davis, all of Sherman; and nephew C. J. Hogans of Bells are among the many who survive him.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, January 8, 2010 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at a later date at Annetta Cemetery in Weatherford, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Jasper Bond

Jasper Bond, age 82, passed from this life on January 7, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  He was born in Lee Creek, Arkansas on September 11, 1928 to William Thompson Bond and  Lydia Florence Pannell Bond.  He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart for his valor.  On June 20, 1955, he married Loretta Bell Dunn in Jal, NM.  They enjoyed over 55 years of marriage.   Mr. Bond retired from El Paso Energy.  He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church on Yukon Rd.

In addition to his beloved wife, Loretta Bond, Mr. Bond is survived by two sons:  Kendal Jasper Bond of Odessa and Leslie Wayne Bond and wife Abigail Ann of Jal; daughter:  Sharon Kay Clary of Odessa; two brothers:  Roy Bond of Farmington, AR and Johnnie Bond of Prairie Grove, AR; sister:  Eula Elmore of Alabama; grandchildren:  Chad, Jonathan, Candace, Michael, Summer, Misty, Amanda, Chiane, and Becky; and numerous great-grandchildren. 

His parents, three brothers:  Joe, Willie, and Troy; two sisters:  Frances and Katy; and one granddaughter:  Crystal Kay Clary, precede him in death. 

Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Johnnie Storz.  Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Jazper Aaron Kidd

Jazper Aaron Kidd, an infant, was born and returned to Heaven on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital of Odessa.  

He is survived by his mother:  Rebecca May of Odessa; father:  Guy Liston Kidd of Odessa; maternal grandparents:  Dianna and Charles Dorland of Odessa; paternal grandparents:  Heather Ann Parker of San Antonio, TX; and maternal great-grandparents:  Cecilia and Gus Klaus of Rowena, TX. 

Services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

Birdie Grace (Tyler) Pettus

Birdie Grace (Tyler) Pettus, age 83, of Odessa, Texas, died Saturday, January  8, 2011, at Buena Vida Nursing Home in Odessa, Texas.  She was a retired dietician for Buena Vida (formerly Four Seasons). 

She is survived by her daughter:  Sharon Jean Bolen of Oklahoma; two sons:  Lurline Eugene Pettus, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev. and Author Dale Pettus of Odessa; one sister:  Lillie Mae Washburn of Fort Worth, Texas; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be privately held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

Ray Albert Schoonover

Ray Albert Schoonover, age 71, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Roseville, CA on September 2, 1939.  He was a driller in the oilfield.  

He is survived by two brothers:  Scott Rowell and Steve De’Sha, both of Odessa; three sisters:  Adelle De’Sha and Gwen Lout, both of Odessa, and Frances Burton of Simi Valley, CA; cousins: Connie Hall of Wichita Falls, TX and Donna Jennings of Fayetteville, NC; godchild:  Candice Derrick of Odessa; nephews:  Josh Collins and wife Amy, Tony James Collin, John Collins and wife Heather, and Steven "Country" De'Sha, all of Odessa; and one niece:  Amanda De'Sha of Odessa.

His parents:  John Franklin and Una Dell (Knight) Schoonover; and his wife:  Barcie (Johnson) Schoonover, precede him in death.

Memorial services will be at a later date.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Edith Mae Rowlett

Edith Mae Rowlett, age 65, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Crane on April 10, 1945 to L. C. and Lillie (Burkeen) Brem.  She was married to William Archie “Bill” Rowlett Jr. and together they owned and operated the Handy Spot Drive Inn in Crane for many years.

Bill and Edith’s parents precede her in death.

Edith was a rancher’s daughter who was country through and through.  She loved everyone and never knew a stranger.  She enjoyed playing cards and liked to go to Vegas.  Edith had a very close knit family and she enjoyed getting together with them.

Those left to cherish her loving memory are her daughters:  Carrie Nichols and husband Johnny of Odessa, Tonya Tallman and husband Robert Sr. of Loudon, TN, and Lillie Wagner and husband Shane of Odessa; three brothers:  Oscar Lenton Brem and wife Betty of Rockport, TX, C. W. Brem and wife Jean of Gilmer, TX, and Ray  Brem and wife Barbara of Victoria, TX; two sisters:  Alice Glasgow and husband J. T. of Monahans and Polly Byrd and husband J. T. of Cross Cut, TX; nine grandchildren:  Will, Cristi, Malinda, Melanie, Melissa, Robert Jr., Stetson, Shane, and Chance; and seven great-grandchildren:  Bradley, Jessie, Nya, Allison, Zia, Conner, and Pistol.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Jackie Brem.  Pallbearers will be Will Rowlett, Robert Tallman, Jr., Stetson Wagner, Shane Wagner, Chance Wagner, and Marc Byrd.  Interment will follow at Crane County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Brenda Sue Madrid

Brenda Sue Madrid, age 43, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2011 at Texas Tech Medical Center in Lubbock.  She was born in Alpine, TX on May 22, 1967 to Betty Robles. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother: Betty Robles of Odessa; sister: Melissa M. Covarubbias of Marfa, TX; brother-in-law: Antonio Covarubbias of Marfa; nephew:  Joseph S. Covarubbias of Amarillo; and great nephew: Joseph Troy Covarubbias of Midland. 

Rosary will be said 7:30 pm Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Celebrant will be Father Joe Uecker. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Weldon Leo Vaughan

Weldon Leo Vaughan, age 89, of Odessa, Texas, passsed from this life Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Moreland, AR on March 2, 1921 to Jessie Lee and Stella (Kinder) Vaughan.  Mr. Vaughan was employed as a truck driver and was a US Army veteran. 

He is survived by his daughter:  Brenda Thomason and husband Tommy of Odessa; sister:  Quetta Helen Caldwell of Russville, Ark.; three grandchildren:  Debbie Walker, Beverly Jones and Kim Lightfoot; six great-grandchildren:  Staci Mobley, Seth Gower, Shelby Swinford, Whitney Smethers, Amanda Webber, and Charles Lightfoot; and six great-great grandchildren:  Kaci Mobley, Lanie Mobley, Jake Webber, Syrena Webber, Brody Smethers, and Bailey Smethers, all of Odessa.     

Memorial services with military honors will be at Calvary Baptist Church at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 22, 2011, James Bishop officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Gregorio Guebara

Gregorio Guebara, age 95 passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Hospice House in Odessa. He was born in Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico on September 16, 1915 to the late Lucio and Eliza (Natividad) Guebara.

Survivors include his wife: Pabla Guebara of Odessa; sons: Ruben Guevara and wife Irma, Armando Guevara, Javier Guevara and wife Maria Elena, and Jesus Manuel Guevara, all of Odessa; daughters: Teresa Calbillo and husband Baldomero, Olivia Galindo, Inez Rodriguez and husband Saul, and Maria Estrada and husband Sergio, all of Odessa; 34 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be 2;00 pm, Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, offiicated by El Anciano Rojelio Rios. Interment will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
