Karen Sue Harrison

Karen Sue (Lawson) Harrison, age 63, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at her Odessa residence.  She was born in Stanton, TX on April 21, 1948 to Ed and Lurlene (Geurin) Lawson.  She was a homemaker. 

She is survived by two daughters:  Kristie MacMahan of Punaluu, Hawaii and Kendra Traywick of Big Spring; two sons:  Chance Harrison of Odessa and Robert Earl Pace of Abilene; sister:  Karla Ingram of Odessa; and nine grandchildren.    

She is predeceased by her parents, husband:  Johnny Harrison, Jr., and one brother:  Larry Lawson. 

Memorial services will be 4:00 pm Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Lincoln Towers.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas. 

Robert Franklin Capen

Robert Franklin Capen, age 80, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa, Texas.  He was born in Springfield, IL on November 23, 1930 to Ralph Alexander Capen and Mary Ellen (Green) Capen.  He married Marie Antoinette Martin in France on December 26, 1964.  He was a machinist and retired with honors from the US Air Force after 20 years of service. 

Robert was a storyteller and a wise guy who loved to laugh and make jokes.  He went by the nickname of “Colorado Bob”.  He had a big heart and loved people and animals.  He spoiled his two dogs, Jessie and Chelsey, and they were very protective of him.  Bob was known in Odessa as the man who collected over a million aluminum pull tabs to help the Ronald McDonald House.

He is survived by his wife, his “Angel” Antoinette Capen of Odessa; four daughters:  Cindy Lind and husband Mike Lind of Odessa, Diana West of Odessa, Brenda Capen of Northglenn, Colo., and Wendy Prinz and husband Marc Prinz of Frederick, Colo.; one son:  Robert L. Capen of Odessa; sister:  Mary Ellen Capen of Springfield, Ill.; eight grandchildren:  Porsche Lind, Randal Capen, Andrew Capen, Amy Thetford, Michael Lind, Bryana Prinz, James West, and Britany Prinz; and one great-grandchild:  Bobby Thetford, Jr.; and one on the way:  Levi James Brunet.

Memorial mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 2:00 PM Friday, July 22, 2011, Father Mark Woodruff officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Stefani Milagros Yanet Victorio Marshall

Stefani Milagros Yanet Victorio Marshall, age 2 months, went to be with the Lord in her Heavenly home on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Odessa Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Odessa on May 10, 2011.

She is survived by her parents:  Cruz Victorio and Heather Marshall Victorio of Gulfport, MS; paternal grandparents:  John and Patricia Groves of Greensburg, KY; paternal great-grandparents:  Maria Luisa Silva Sanchez and Margarito Victorio Martinez, both of Toluca, Mexico; uncles:  Omar and Juan Victorio of Gulfport, MS; two brothers:  Austin Defazio and Jierad Defazio, both of Louisville, KY; three sisters:  Emma Hernandez and Roxanna Victorio Marshall, both of Gulfport, MS and Rose Hernandez “LLuri” of Odessa.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother:  Ronda McDonald.

Visitation services were from 5 to 8:00 pm Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Arrangements were entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Gulfport, MS under the direction of Riemann Family Funeral Home, (228) 539-9800.

H. O. Chandler

H. O. Chandler, 80, a longtime resident of Odessa, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, July 22, 2011 at Sterling County Nursing Home.  He was born in Greenville, TX on October 28, 1930 to Herbert Jewel and Floy Tida Chandler.  H. O. married Essie Choate on July 5, 1954 in Harlingen, Texas.  He was a faithful member of Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church.

H. O. came to Odessa to work as a draftsman for Shell Oil Company after graduating from East Texas University in 1952.  In later years, he also worked for Gulf and Chevron Oil Companies.  It is said of H. O. that he never met a stranger, making his jobs at Wal-Mart, Sam’s, and HEB a source of enjoyment after retirement.

He is survived by his wife:  Essie Chandler of Odessa; two daughters:  Cathy Gilleland and husband Pat, Sharon “Cheyan” Jackson; and three grandchildren:  Jennifer Ray, John Gilleland, and Katelyn Ballow.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, July 25, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Rev. Ronnie Newton. Interment will follow at Gaines County Memorial Cemetery in Seminole, TX at 3:00 PM.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences to the family may be sent online at acreswestfuneral.com.

Tommy Glen Hildebrand, Sr.

Tommy Glen Hildebrand, age 62, of Big Spring, passed from this life on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Midland Memorial Hospital.  He was born in San Angelo, TX on November 3, 1948 to Joyce Kyle Hildebrand and Lillian Nadine (Jones) Hildebrand.  He married Darlene Hludzik in Lamesa, TX on March 26, 1970.   He was an electronics technician and worked for many years at Basin 2 Way with his partner Kevin.  He was a proud US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Tommy was a great father and a loyal friend who never hesitated to drop what he was doing to lend a hand to someone else.  All he asked for in return was a sack of chicken lips.  He had a tender heart and was slow to anger and quick to joke, with an awesome sense of humor.  He was a talented musician and singer, who played music locally with his good friend, Rich.  He was a “jack of all trades” who could fix anything. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife and soul mate:  Darlene Hildebrand of Big Spring; two sons:  Tommy Glen Hildebrand, Jr. of Big Spring and Ned Randal Hildebrand of Snyder; two daughters:  Barbara Ann Averette and husband Brian of Big Spring and Pamela Jean Hildebrand of Carrollton; two brothers:  David Hildebrand and wife Mary of Odessa and Tony Kennedy of Big Spring; sisters:  Madeline Began and husband Bob of Middletown, OH and Anne Mooney of Navasota; five grandchildren:  Alyssa Hodnett, D’Amberly Averette, Shea Hildebrand, Ned Hildebrand, Jr. and Nathan Hildebrand; and one great-grandson on the way:  Rylan Hodnett.

Those preceding him in death are his parents and one brother: Bradley Kyle Hildebrand.

Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Eldon Ray Aust

Eldon Ray Aust, age 71, of Odessa, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Hospice House.  He was born in Jethro, Franklin County, Arkansas to William Wiley Aust and Ester Mae (Owen) Aust on January 8, 1940. He worked in the oilfield as a heavy equipment operator, in pipeline work, and in water well drilling.  He was a US Army veteran and affiliated with the First United Pentecostal Church.  Eldon was an avid fisherman, whose favorite hobbies were fishing, fishing, and fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father:  William Wiley Aust of Odessa; brother:  Darry Aust and wife Kathy of Saugus, CA; sisters:  Barbara Ross and husband Gaylord of Arlington and Carolyn Johnston and husband Leon of Abilene.

He will be greatly missed as well by a multitude of nieces, nephews, and close friends.

In addition to his mother:  Ester Mae, his sister and brother-in-law: Delores and Keith Brewer, precede him in death.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, July 28, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Graveside services will be 10:00 am Friday, July 29, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Terry Pugh.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Ester Quiñonez Levario

Ester Quiñonez Levario, age 78, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Regency Hospital in Odessa.  She was born in La Paz de Coyame, Chihuahua, Mexico on September 6, 1932 to Felipe and Maria de la Luz Quiñonez.  She was a homemaker. 

Survivors:  son – Domingo Levario of Ojinaga; daughter – Evangelina Levario of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers – Carlos Quiñonez of Phoenix, AZ and Alcario Quiñonez of Ojinaga; three sisters – Natalia Quiñonez and Eulojia Quiñonez, both of Ojinaga, Anacleta Quiñonez of Odessa; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 

Services will be held in Ojinaga.  Burial will be at Jardines de San Jose in Ojinaga.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria De Valles in Ojinaga. 

Walker Allen Lumpkin

Heaven welcomed a new angel on Sunday, July 24, 2011 when Walker Allen Lumpkin, age 4, went to be with Jesus.  Walker was born several months premature in Odessa on November 9, 2006.  A tough little fighter, he wanted to be a cowboy when he grew up and played at deer hunting.  He was a happy child, who loved Iron Man, Sponge Bob, and the Texas Longhorns. 

Those left to cherish Walker’s memory include his father:  David Lumpkin and wife Tamra of Odessa; mother:  Stephanie Swindell and husband James Brogdon of Nashville, TN; paternal grandparents:  Mike and Judy Lumpkin of Odessa; maternal grandmother:  Kim Swindell of Pulaski, TN; paternal great-grandparents:  Judy Joiner of Odessa and Fay Boyd of Midland; maternal great-grandparents:  James and Sue Swindell and Gerald and Alice Murphy, all of Odessa, and Linda Dillon of Sulfur Springs; three step-brothers:  Nathan, Jonathan, and Brandon Valle, all of Odessa; three step-sisters:  Kelly White, Jaycee Brogdon, and Brooklyn Brogdon, all of Nashville, TN; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, both in Odessa and in Tennessee. 

He was preceded on his Heavenly journey by his maternal grandpa, Jimmy Swindell, and his paternal great-grandfathers:  James Joiner and Billy Boyd.

Paul Colin Campbell

Paul Colin Campbell, age 64, of Odessa, passed from this life on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Graham, TX on September 17, 1946 to Cecil Colin Campbell and Pauline (Russell) Campbell.  He played football for Permian High in 1965, before serving in the Marines.  Paul married Wilma Jean Flippin in Odessa on August 2, 1969. 

Mr. Campbell was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church and served in the prayer ministry there.  He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed football and baseball, camping, and fishing.  His hobbies included woodworking, playing cards, and watching sports.  His greatest pleasure was in playing with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife:  Wilma Campbell of Odessa; son:  Michael Campbell and wife Crystal of Odessa; daughter:  Lori Proffitt and husband Stephen of Odessa; brother:  Kim George Campbell of Tulsa, OK; and five grandchildren:  Michelle, Kristen, and Meagan Campbell of Odessa and Brooklyn and Grayson Proffitt of Odessa.

Interment will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Memorial services will follow at 2:00 pm at Crescent Park Baptist Church, officiated by Pastors David Miller and Greg Morris.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences may be sent to the family online at acreswestfuneral.com.

Linda Darlene Shoemaker

Linda Darlene Shoemaker of Odessa, age 58, passed from this life on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born on June 22, 1953 to Jesse Joe and Carlene Barksdale Wallace in Austin, Texas. Darlene was a homemaker. She married John M. Shoemaker on August 29, 1998 in Odessa. They shared thirteen wonderful years together.

Her mother, Carlene Barksdale Wallace, precedes her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband: John M. Shoemaker of Odessa; parents: Jesse Joe Wallace and wife Betty of Colorado City; children: Danielle, Regina, Traci, Danya, Catherine, and Laurie; siblings: Gwen McKinney, Melissa Clowers, and Donald Kite; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law: Doyle Shoemaker, Martin Shoemaker and their families.

Anastacio Jesus Orona

Anastacio Jesus Orona, age 53, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on March 10, 1958 to Anastacio and Juanita (Gonzalez) Orona.  He was a diesel engine mechanic and a member of Principe de Paz Church. 

He is survived by his wife:  Yolanda Orona of Odessa; his mother:  Juanita Gonzalez of Presidio; one son:  Jesus Orona, Jr. of Odessa; three daughters:  Olga Orona, Casandra Orona, and Catalina Orona, all of Odessa; three brothers:  Benjamin Orona and Juan Orona, both of Odessa and Manuel Yanez of Ojinaga, MX; sister:  Angela Orona of Ojinaga and Concha Orona of Odessa; and three grandchildren. 

Visitation will be at Principe de Paz, 6841 W. Dunn St. Odessa. Funeral services will be at a later date in Ojinaga, MX.  Interment will be at Cementerio de Canada Ancha in Ojinaga.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria de Valles in Ojinaga, Mexico. 

Dalton Riley Lewis

Dalton Riley Lewis, an infant, of Odessa, Texas, was born and died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Odessa Regional Medical Center. 

Those left to look forward to seeing him again in Heaven are his parents: Randy Lewis and Melissa (Blake) Lewis of Odessa; one brother:  Colton Lewis of Odessa; maternal grandparents:  Robin and Denise Blake of Odessa; paternal grandmother:  Cindy Lewis of Odessa; maternal great-grandfather:  Roger Blake of Zephyr Hills, FL; and paternal great grandfather:  Bob Ward of Odessa.

Virginia “Gene” Avis Hogan

Virginia “Gene” Avis Hogan of Odessa, age 74, passed from this life on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa. She was born on April 17, 1937 to Samuel Elijah and Mary Avis (Caddell) Millard in Brownsville, TX.  She retired from working park maintenance for Ward County after 17 years. She loved crocheting, crafts, animals, and working in her garden. Jalapenos were one of her all-time favorite foods. Gene was an awesome mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and best friend. She was a single mother and raised five of her children by herself while working three jobs. Gene was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to anyone. She was one of a kind and a fighter. She never gave up on anything. She was known as “My Hero” and a healer to her family. Any family member could call Gene and she was able to take away their pain. Friends and family in Wickett all knew her as Mom. She was the best friend, mother, and grandmother a person could have.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Samuel and Mary Millard; sons: Johnny Sanders, Lonnie Sewell, and James Sanders; daughter: Mary Marie Overhoff; brothers: Robert Millard, William Millard, and Duke Kelly; and sisters: Peggy Fagan, Hazel Blackmon, Lois Burns, and Louise Olneck.

Those left to cherish her love and memory include her sons: Jesse Hogan of Lindsay, OK, Ernie Sanders of Pyote, TX, Jack Nichols of Rusk, TX, and William Gilligan Sewell of Midland, TX; daughters: Darlene Bullard, Molly Redman, Roberta Stilwell, and Mechelle Rimer, all of Odessa, Virginia Gonzales of San Antonio, Jodie Bergin of Sioux City, IA, Margie Lynch of Spirit Lake, IA; brother: Earnest Millard of Wickett, TX; 47 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Faith Community Baptist Church in Odessa, officiated by Pastor Wayne Shelton. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bubba Redman, Jeremy Rimer, Jesse Molinar, Michael Sewell, Lee Redman, and Billy Yanez. Norma Geraline (Bothe) Steddum

Norma Geraline (Bothe) Steddum, age 78, of Odessa, passed from this life on Friday, July 29, 2011, at her son’s home in Odessa.  She was born in Durant, OK on May 12, 1933 to the late Robert Tolbert Bothe and Thelma May (Tierce) Bothe.   

Norma was a loving mother to four sons, who she lauded as her greatest accomplishment.  She also adored the beautiful women that her sons brought home to become her daughters.  She was self employed in the oil field, a “man’s world”, where she worked hard and earned respect working on a rotary water well rig.  She enjoyed travel and scuba diving and taught others to scuba dive as well.  She co-owned and operated her business and bought a resort in Cozumel, but her most important job was being the spiritual leader of her family. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons:  Joe Conn and wife Jodi of Odessa, Charles Conn and wife Becky of Santa Fe, TX, Kevin Conn and wife Edna of Odessa, and Cary Conn of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers:  U. A. Bothe and wife Thelma of Palestine and Hoyt Bothe and wife Paula of Anahuac; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.   

Funeral service will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2011, Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Gregory Turnbull

Gregory Turnbull, age 61, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at his residence.  He was born in Ft. Stockton, Texas on January 29, 1950 to Jesse Rexford Turnbull and Rosemary (Dees) Turnbull.  He was the owner and operator of Omega Production Services. He served in the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife:  Lynda Turnbull of Odessa; three daughters:  Selisa Harkey, Glenys Turnbull, and Leslie Landrum, all of Odessa; two sisters:  Gertrude Griffin of Odessa and Sharon; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Billy Earl Everett

Billy Earl Everett of Odessa, age 80, passed from this life on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born on August 14, 1930 to the late James Earl and Margaret (Almond) Everett in Stonewall, Gillespie County, Texas. He married Melba Jean Wendell on May 4, 1957 in Odessa. They shared 54 wonderful years together. Billy was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved playing cards and shooting pool. One of his favorite pastimes included woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: James Earl Everett, Jr., Charles Everett and Howell Everett; and sister: Mae Edgar.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Melba Everett of Odessa; sons: Thomas Earl Everett and wife Debra of Crowley, TX and Richard Allen Everett of Odessa; daughter: Patricia Hogan of Odessa; brother: Clifford Everett and wife Sylvia of Wimberley, TX; sister: Lucille Armstrong of Atascosa, TX; grandchildren: Lindi, Shawn, Timothy, Tristian, Austin, Lindsey, Jessica, and Kendra; and great-grandchildren: Lilly and Haley.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Pastor Marcos Zuniga. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel
