Edilberto Leyva, age 73, of Odessa, passed away on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2013 at his home in Odessa. He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on October 1, 1939 to the late Ramon and Tomasa (Hernandez) Leyva. He was a rancher and a member of the Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Etelvina (Quiroz) Leyva of Odessa; two sons: Edilberto Leyva, Jr. of Sanger, TX and Samuel Leyva and wife Itzel of Midland; daughter: Elizabeth Padilla and husband Jorge of Odessa; and nine grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son: Omar Leyva; daughter: Griselda Leyva; two brothers: Angel and Erazmo Leyva; and three sisters: Gabina Lujan, Flora Chavez, and Abigail Leyva.
Rosary will be said at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa at 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Thursday, January 3, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, TX with Father Rudy Lacerna officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Reginald Robert Fisher, age 65, of Terlingua, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Hospice House of Odessa following a brief illness. He was born in Atlanta, GA on August 17, 1947 to the late Reginald Dewitt Fisher, Jr. and Janet Harriet (Maiersperger) Fisher. He was a master carpenter and a US Air Force Veteran.
He is survived by his wife: Diane Womack of Terlingua; son: Michael Fisher of Arvada, CO; daughter: Lisa Fisher of Arvada, CO; brother: Richard Fisher of Frisco, NC; four sisters: Lynda Bowman of Fairfield Glade, TN, Jone Click of Knoxville, TN, Cindi Olszewski of Bow, WA, and Schatzie Crowther of Hillsborough, NC; one uncle: Robert Edwin Fisher of West Brandywine, PA; and eleven nieces and nephews.

Tracy O. Flores, age 42, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday,
January 2, 2013, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
She was the daughter of Pedro Ortiz of Ojinaga, Mexico and the late Paula (Ledesma) Ortiz, born in Roswell, NM on August 29, 1970. She married Thomas Flores in 2000 in Johnson, KS. They are the proud parents of five children. Her children meant the world to her. Her granddaughter, Xiomara, was the light of her life.
Tracy loved County music, Spanish music and dancing.
She always got along with everyone and helped others.
She put everyone else’s needs first.
When she was ill, her neighbor’s daughter (a four year old)
was always checking on her and worrying to be sure the family took
care of her.

Rosa Valenzuela Hernandez, age 83, of Odessa, passed from this life on Saturday, January 05, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on April 30, 1929 to the late Pedro and Beatrice (Franco) Valenzuela. She was a Christian woman and a homemaker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Eulojio Hernandez of Odessa; sons: Baudilio Hernandez of Odessa, Arnoldo Hernandez of Brownfield, and Eulojio Hernandez, Jr. and Emilio Hernandez, both of Odessa; daughters: Paula Pantoja, Sophia Urquidi, Anna Ortiz, Juanita Ramos and Araceli Juarez, all of Odessa; brother: Pedro Valenzuela of Presidio; sisters: Juanita Carrasco of Houston, Magdalena Gomez of Roswell, NM and Consuelo Hernandez of Midland; 38 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Pedro and Beatrice Valenzuela; son: Arnold Hernandez; three brothers: Felipe, Chuy, and Ricardo; and four sisters: Velsora, Elvira, Batrice, and Angela.

Reba Naomi Daniels, age 94, of Odessa, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 08, 2013 at her home. She was born in Taylor County, TX on June 25, 1918 to the late Curtis and Ophelia (Ashby) Sledge. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, who leaves behind quite a legacy. “I’ve lived a long life and I’ve had a long row to hoe, but I’ve had a lot of love.”
Reba was a homemaker who loved to quilt and sew. An outgoing person, she never met a stranger and loved to laugh. She was loving and fun and loved by many.
Mrs. Daniels’ legacy includes one son: Ronnie Price of Anaheim, CA; daughters: Mary Lou Elder of Goldsmith and Barbria Daniels of Odessa; sister: Helen Murphy of Nocona; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren. She was a Baptist and a volunteer for over 15 years with Servants of the Poor.
She was preceded to her Heavenly home by her husband: Ray Berry Daniels; two sons: Jimmy Don Randall and Danny Ray Daniels; three daughters: Louise Ruby Goodson, Linda Cathryn Daniels, and Patricia Ann Daniels; all five of her brothers: Arthur “Sun” Sledge, Marcell Sledge, Richard Sledge, Raymond Sledge, and Curtis Sledge; sister: Elizabeth Shuler; grandson: Cody Elder; and great-grandson: Dustin Teague.
The family will receive friends and visitors at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening, January 10, 2013 from 6 – 8:00 pm. Funeral services in Odessa will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 11, 2013 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Johnny Touchstone. Abel M. Cadena, 55, of Odessa, passed away on January 7, 2013, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born October 10, 1959, to the late Emiterio Cadena and Rita (Madrid) Cadena in Monahans, Texas. He was Catholic.
Abel was a welder. He was a very hard worker, who loved his work. He believed “You couldn’t go anywhere if you did not work”. He was a Cowboys fan and enjoyed Western movies. Abel was always there for his kids. Lately though, as he had needed lots of assistance, he called his only daughter his “muscle”. He loved his brothers and sister and was good brother. His siblings used to call him the man with nine lives.
He is survived by his sons: Isaac L. Cadena and wife Maria of Houston, TX, and Julian Cadena of Odessa; daughter: Rebecca L. Cadena of Odessa; brothers: Emiterio Cadena, Jr., Oscar Cadena, Tony Cadena, Ricky Cadena, all of Odessa; sister: Amelia Cadena of Odessa; and six- grandchildren: Nicholas Cadena, Neveah Cadena, Nathan Cadena, Gabriel Cadena, Jiovanna Guerro,and Belen Guerro, all of Odessa. “Grandpa Abel” was a proud and loving grandfather.

Willard Dewayne “Red” Henderson, age 72, of Odessa, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Odessa on January 25, 1940 to Frank Gerald Henderson and Katey Lou (Thyme) Henderson.
Red was a free spirited man, who loved the ladies and loved to be surrounded by them. He enjoyed the outdoors, helping his mother with her garden and spending time on Lake Buchanan with his parents. He was a merchant seaman and enjoyed his duties near the ocean. He had also worked as a carpenter and roughneck. Red loved to be around people and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his son: Steve Henderson of Odessa and one brother: Earl Henderson of Midland.
His parents: Frank and Katey Henderson and two brothers: Gurney Gerald Henderson and Tim Henderson, precede him in death.

Vivian Hazel Howell Roberts, 81, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday on January 9, 2013, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. She was born on August 9, 1931 in Pecos, Texas to Victor Floyd Howell and Daisy Agnes (Snodgrass) Howell. She was a bookkeeper.
Survivors are her son: Floyd Roberts of Hamilton, Texas; daughters: Amy Nobles of Odessa and Effie Roberts of Midland; brother: Jimmy Howell of Columbus, Texas; sister: Verdie Howell of Nacogdoches, Texas; and numerous grandchildren.

Peggy Mae Ellen, age 83, of Odessa, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. She was born in Amity, TX on April 17, 1929 to Henry Wirt and Buela Lee (Crownover) Robertson. One of three children, she attended May High School. She married Johnny Ellen Sr. in Talpa, TX on September 27, 1953. They enjoyed over 36 happy years of marriage before being separated by his death on February 1, 1990.
She was the proud mother to two sons and supported them by being a Cub Scout Leader. Peggy was a member of Westover Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons: John Ellen, Jr. of Austin, TX and David Ellen, Sr. of Odessa; brother: Bill Robertson of Arlington; and six grandchildren: Brent, Jason, David Lee, Jr., Michael, Jessica, Johnny Ray, and five ½ great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Buela Robertson; husband: Johnny Ellen; sister: Bobbie Martin (who passed away on October 18, 2001) and grandson: Brent Miller (who we tragically lost on June 30, 2007).
