|Ralph Lee Mauck|
Ralph Lee Mauck, age 74, of Crane, TX, left us on January 11, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Downsville, MD on May 6, 1938 to the late Russell Baker Mauck and Nancy Virginia Mauck. His hometown was Williamsport, MD. Ralph served as a US Marine in the 5th Battalion Platoon 172 from 1956 to 1958.
Those left to cherish his memory are three sons: Mark Daniel Mauck and wife Vickie of Midland, Clinton David Mauck and wife Amanda of West Virginia, and Floyd Allen Mauck and wife Gail of Crane; daughter: Cherie Michelle Pryor and husband Walter of Hagerstown, MD; six grandchildren: Julia B. Mauck, Deena L. Cady, Tiera Mauck, Kionna C. Twyman, Allen L. Mauck, and Tyler C. Mauck; and one great-granddaughter: Makaiya N. Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Russell Baker Mauck and Nancy Virginia Mauck; daughter: Carolyn Annette Mauck; and one grandson: Clinton Cole Mauck.

|Omar Frias, Jr.|
Omar Frias, Jr., age 3, was given his angel’s wings on January 11, 2013 when he passed from this life at Cook’s Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. He was born on November 22, 2009, in Odessa, Texas to Omar Frias and Jasmine Olivas.
Omar loved 18 wheelers and John Deere, and especially liked horses and goats. He owned it all, as he claimed everything was his. He would dress himself (backwards) but he was dressed. Omar touched your heart once you had met him; he was the joy of everyone’s household. He loved to be outdoors and would make you pull him around in his car.
Those left to cherish his memory are his father: Omar Frias and wife Yolanda Mendoza; mother: Jasmine Olivas and husband Segundo Ramirez; and maternal grandmother: Elia Olivas, all of Odessa; paternal grandfather: Carlos Lujan of Pecos; paternal grandparents: Ramiro and Maria Guadalupe Frias of Odessa; maternal great-grandparents: Javier and wife Lilly Martinez of Odessa and Maria Socorro Lujan of Pecos; brothers: Adriel Angel Frias and Jose Alan Ramirez, both of Odessa.
He was preceded in death by paternal great- grandparents: Estella and Jacobo Diaz, and Lucila and Jesus Frias.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father Joe Uecker. Interment will follow at Peaceful Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University, Odessa, Texas, 79764.

Francisco Alberto Ortega, age 26, of Odessa passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 after a tragic accident in Midland County. He was born in Pecos on April 10, 1986 to Javier and Margie Ortega Carrasco. He married Amber Hout in Odessa on August 22, 2010. He was a driller with Capstar Drilling. Francisco was also affectionately known as “Frank” or “Kiko”.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his parents: Javier and Margie Ortega Carrasco of Odessa; wife: Amber Ortega of Odessa; maternal grandparents: Miguel and Anna Maria Ortega of Odessa; paternal grandmother: Petra Carrasco of Midland; two sons: Dominic Ortega of Odessa and Gaige Ortega of Midland; brother: Erik Carrasco of San Antonio; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm on Monday evening, January 21, 2013 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. William Myrom White, age 85, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Mackinaw, IL on August 21, 1927 to the late William and Elizabeth (Friend) White. He married Beverly Simcoe in Odessa on May 26, 1990. He worked at Prescott’s Café.
William was just an old country boy. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing. He liked watching baseball and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 30 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Beverly White of Odessa; three step-sons: Anthony Pellissier of Midland, Robert Pellissier of Hobbs, NM, and Frederik Pellissier of Wilsonville, OR; three step-daughters: Beverly Pellissier of Conway, AR, Frances Miller of Hobbs, NM, and Paula Montemayor of Hutto, TX; two brothers: Lewis White and Joseph White, both of Mackinaw, IL; three sisters: Carrie Cremmens, Georgia Williams, and Gladys Lee, all of Mackinaw, IL; twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son: Harold Pellissier, Jr.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, January 21, 2013 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell. Interment will be held in Mackinaw, IL under the direction of Haensel Funeral Home. Local arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
|Lawrence Robert Long|
Lawrence Robert Long, age 78, of Odessa, passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 19, 2013. He was born in Seguin, TX on June 15, 1934 to the late Charlie Culberson Long and Eunice Mildred (Bruce) Long. Lawrence graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a degree in Music education and went on to be a high school band director. He was a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity. He also worked for quite some time in the oilfield, mostly as a tool pusher, but retained his lifelong love of music and would play piano and sing for hours at a time.
Mr. Long was a US Army veteran during the Korean Conflict era. He married Betty Ann Thomas in Pleasanton, TX on October 11, 1957 and they raised three children. Lawrence was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and he enjoyed studying his Bible. He was also a Mason affiliated with the Tulia Lodge AF & AM.
Lawrence leaves behind his devoted wife: Betty Long of Odessa; two sons: Charlie Long and wife Annette of Bentonville, AR and Robert Long and wife Glenda of Odessa; daughter: Cindy Ponce and husband Tony of Cedar Park, TX; brother: Milton Long of Falls City, TX; two sisters: Carolyn Whitfield and husband Bill of Falls City, TX and Colleen Allen of Ingleside, TX; seven grandchildren: Krysta, Loren, Trey, Amanda, Jennifer and husband Matthew, Aaron, and Kaylee; and two great-grandchildren: Hunter and Abigail.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Orvil Long.
Memorial services will be held at Sherwood Baptist Church on
Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 am, officiated by Brother Ivy

Alice Benavides, age 49,
of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Medical
Center Hospital in Odessa.
She was born in Galveston, TX on January 25, 1963 to the
late Juan and Maria (Bernal) Benavides.
She was a beloved wife and mother with a deep love for her
children and grandchildren.
Alice was a strong-willed,
free-spirited woman who liked to “run the show.”
She enjoyed crocheting, going to the beach, and loved to
move to the music. She
had her own secret recipes for meatloaf and potato salad and it was
well known that if the potato salad wasn’t going to be there, the
family wouldn’t show up either!
She was extremely patriotic and was a staunch supporter of

Jerry Lee Brown, age 44, of Odessa, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born in California on December 31, 1968.
Jerry loved life. He was an awesome and amazing person. He was generous and always willing to help others in any way he could. He was a rebel and enjoyed watching drag racing and NASCAR. A hard working man, Jerry always made a point of putting in an honest day’s work.
He is survived by his surrogate mom: Vickie Wilkins of Abilene; step-father: David Plaxco of Odessa; god-daughter: Kaylee of Odessa; five sisters: Casey Elliott and husband David, Jackie Duralia and husband, Vanessa Wilkins and Kellie Hankins, all of Odessa, and Nancy Calhoun of Lubbock; five brothers: Ronnie Plaxco, Andy Brown and wife Jackie, and Skeeter, all of Odessa, and Bobby Wilkins and Raymond Miles, both of Abilene; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His mother: Lois Jolene Parker preceded him in death.

Eulalio Lopez Ybarra, age 86, of Odessa, died Monday, January 21, 2013, at Crane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crane. He was born in Sanderson, TX on December 10, 1926. He worked at general maintenance for the I20 Rest Area between Sheffield and Ft. Stockton for approximately 22 years. He was Catholic and a US Army Veteran.
He is survived by his five daughters:
Ernestina Romo and husband Tony of Wickett, Texas, Gloria
Benavides of Odessa, Janie Roberson of Payson, Ariz., Isabel Lara
and husband Miguel of Pecos, and Ninfa Pena and husband David of
Palacios; two sons:
Raul Ybarra of Wickett, and David Ybarra of Palacios, twenty-four
grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.

|Grover Cleveland Smith|
Grover Cleveland Smith, age 78, of Odessa, passed from this life on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Grundy, VA on January 16, 1935 to the late Bill and Ocie Smith. He married Lupe Moreno in Clint, TX in 1961. He was a US Army Veteran and ran his own motorcycle shop, Grover’s Motorcycles.
He was a collector of anything with a motor – cars, motorcycles, etc. and had a passion for foreign cars. Grover enjoyed racing motorcycles for several years as well. He also collected magazines and stray animals or people. He was an animal lover who fed anything that showed up at his doorstep, and was very generous and giving to people. He just couldn’t tell anyone “No”. When Lupe told him to get a hobby, he took up flying and completed flying school.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Lupe Smith of Odessa; two daughters: Jennifer Currie and husband David of Amarillo and Stephanie Giffin and husband Scott of Phoenix, AZ; four brothers: Gene Smith, Zola Smith, and Clarence Davis, all of Maysfield, KY and Roy Davis of San Diego, CA; sister: Gladys Stedham of Maysfield, KY; and three grandchildren: Katie Currie, Emma Giffin, and Bradley Giffin.

Anita C. Pineda, age 62, of Odessa, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at her daughter’s home. She was born in Odessa on April 5, 1950 to Alejandro G. Pineda and the late Maria (Carrasco) Pineda. She worked at a dry cleaners as a pants presser for many years. She was Catholic.
Anita was a loving mother and grandmother and a great listener. She was our “Momanita” – our laughter and our sunshine. She always had an open door for her family and could always make us laugh. Momanita put everyone else’s needs before her own and could be counted on for support at all times. She never met a stranger and treated everyone like family.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are her father: Alejandro Pineda; three sons: David R. Barraza, Joel J. Pineda, and Jonell Pineda; three daughters: Caroline Hernandez and husband Lucas, Sandra Hernandez and husband Raul, and Anita Williams and husband Albert; brother: Joe Pineda; and sister: Angie Collazo; and nineteen grandchildren; all of Odessa.
Her mother: Maria Pineda, and two brothers: Fernando and Eto Pineda, preceded her in death.

Sherrie Ann Patterson, 50, of Midland, Texas, passed away on January 23, 2013. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Midland, Texas, at the age of 18.
Sherrie created many long term friendships while working at various country clubs throughout the Midland area. These friends and her family were important to Sherrie. Her family includes her parents, 6 sisters, 3 brothers, her maternal grandmother, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
All of the people important to Sherrie remember and appreciated her fabulous sense of humor. She always had a good joke to tell and could make anyone smile. Sherrie had a passion for animals and found her work at the ASPCA very fulfilling.
A remembrance will be held at the Duck Pond, 800 N. A Street, Midland, at noon on February 2, 2013. Friends are encouraged to bring photos and stories to share. Donations in Sherrie's name to the ASPCA, PO Box 4371, Midland, TX, 79704 are suggested by the family.
