R Peterson
Richard “Rick” Arnold Peterson, Jr.

Richard “Rick” Arnold Peterson, Jr. age 58, of Gardendale, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Great Falls, Montana on August 13, 1954 to the late Richard Arnold Peterson, Sr. and Darlene Addie (Sindt) Peterson. Rick served 6 years in the Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. Years later, he took a mechanics course, because he loved to tinker around with things, and had a talent for it. He was a jack of all trades type of person.

Rick was a really good guy who loved to clown around.  He would often pull a “Jethro Gibbs” by popping you in the back of the head.  Often mischievous, he would at times arrange for the blame of his pranks to fall on others.  He lost his hand in a sawmill accident and would tease little ones with the hook on his hand, that he called “Chief Charlie”.  Rick was very good with his hands and enjoyed woodworking, making things like a bear coffee table and a Texas table.  An adventurous man and an outdoorsman, originally being from Montana, Rick loved the mountains and liked to pan for gold and other treasures.

He is survived by one brother:  Brian Ray Peterson and wife Keryl of Cascade, MT; and two sisters:  Donna Lee Vandeman, and husband Art of Pasco, WA and Rebecca Jean Hughes, and her husband Michael of Great Falls, MT. Rick a bit of a loner, but he had no trouble making friends wherever he went.  In fact, he made many friends in the Odessa and Gardendale area, whom he considered extended family, and ones that loved him just as much. Some of the most important to him were the Millers, McCollums, Brooks, and Rogers. He had many other friends and family that will all miss him and his personality very much. His life meant much to a lot of people.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister:  Shirley Mae Peterson and brother:  Dale Miles Peterson.
