|Mildred Rea “Millie” Richardson|
Mildred Rea “Millie” Richardson, age 80, of Odessa, passed away Sunday June 2, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Springfield, Illinois on September 22, 1932 to the late Edward and Lena (Dulaney) Burris.
She was a retired cook, and enjoyed cooking. Millie was used to cooking for lots of people and her large family, so she never got the hang of cooking for one person. When Millie cooked, everyone usually got invited over to help consume the bounty from her kitchen. She loved to paint with oil and acrylics. She also enjoyed sewing summer dresses and short sets for her granddaughters. Her hobbies and interests included playing Bingo, roses, hummingbirds, wind chimes and reading.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are four sons: Don Eugene Richardson and wife Jeanie, John Edward Richardson and wife Kathy, William Nolan Richardson, Kenneth Lee Richardson and wife Samantha all of Springfield, Illinois; four daughters: Patricia Ann Nunn of Springfield Illinois, Georgette Holt and husband Jerry of Odessa, Nancy Jean VanPelt of Springfield, Illinois, Lena Lozano and husband Julian of Odessa; two brothers: George Burris and wife Shelba of Springfield, Illinois, John Burris of Odessa; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild: Dalton Levi Richardson, two sisters: Nora Comer and Donna Burris, one brother: Edward Burris, and step-mother: Ethel Burris.
She will be greatly missed.
Memorial Services will be at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2013, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell.

John Earl Peacock, age 56, of Odessa, died Sunday, June 3, 2013 at his home. He was born in Odessa on March 11, 1957 to Woodruff and Margaret Ellen (McIntire) Peacock. He married Betty Cleere in Odessa on February 23, 1988. John worked as a cement truck driver.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Peacock of Odessa; two sons: Carl Cleere of Odessa and Jonathan Peacock of Haltom City, TX; three daughters: Carita New of Odessa, Amanda Idol of Houston, and Deann Renee Peacock of Haltom City; brothers: Milton Peacock of Houston, Michael Peacock of Ft. Worth and Charles Peacock of Kauffman; eleven grandchildren: Amber, Cain, Chase, Anthony, Caitlyn, Samantha, Morgan, William, Charlsie, Gavin, and John Paul; and two great-grandchildren: Gabriella and Vincent.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Ronald Peacock.
Memorial services will be Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00 am at
Belmont Baptist Church, 806 N. Belmont, Odessa, officiated by
Pastor John McLemore.

Catherine Mae Jones, age 78, of Odessa, passed
away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at her residence.
She was born in Bexar County, Texas on March 24, 1935 to the
late Walter H. Fox and Pauline K. (Nehr) Fox.
She married Glenn Jones, Sr. in Cotulla, TX on August 30,
1958. She was a
homemaker. She is survived by her son:
Glenn Jones, Jr. of Odessa; two
daughters: Janine Price
and Amy Jones, both of Odessa; three grandchildren:
Shawn Srader, Jackie Price, and Sarah Jones; sisters-in-law:
Betty and G.W. Amy of Odessa, Rosalie Jones of Yancey, TX,
Marilyn Thomson-Owen of San Angelo, Joyce Jones of Abilene, Ozella
Carroll of Dallas, and Liz Kempf of Black Creek, TX; numerous nieces
and nephews; and numerous grand-puppies. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, and nine half brothers and sisters:
Kempf - Alvin, Tony, Dip, Lindy and Joe, and Fox - Roy,
Richard, Bessie, and Ora; brothers-in-law:
Ray Jones, Harold Jones, and Bill Thomson. Graveside memorial services will be privately

Veronica Bernal, age 35, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Pecos, TX on January 19, 1978. She worked in inventory at a warehouse and was a Catholic.
Veronica was full life, friendly and loving, and loved to joke around. She always gave generously and unselfishly – even in death, as an organ donor, she gave life to others. A hard worker, she was often told she worked harder than a man.
She is survived by her mother: Rosario Nava and husband Santos of Odessa; father: Ismael Bernal of Allende, Mexico; and her brother: Gabriel Bernal and wife Leslie of Odessa.

Efren Holguin, age 56, of Odessa, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at his home. He was born in Lovington, New Mexico on June 18, 1956 to Carolina (Bara) Holguin and the late Jesus Holguin. He married Elva Rodriguez in Lamesa, TX on August 21, 1986. Efren worked in the construction of swimming pools and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife: Elva (Rodriguez) Holguin of Odessa; mother: Carolina Moncallo of Portales, NM; son: Efren Holguin, Jr. of San Marcos; daughter: Syndra Holguin of Odessa; six brothers: Raymond Castillo of Lubbock, Jesse Holguin of California, Herman Holguin of Portales, Jimmy Holguin, Joey Holguin and Carlos Holguin, all of Odessa; four sisters: Librada Medrano of Midland, Pamela Deanda of Odessa, Angela Cisneros of Georgetown, and Jessica Holguin of Austin; four grandchildren: Amaryza, Rita, Alyna, and Samuel; and his god child: Brenda Marr.

Garrett Rasmus Collins, age 72, of Odessa, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Hospice House. He was born in Clovis, CA on May 27, 1941 to George Henry Collins and Juanita Marie (Ziegler) Collins. He married Belinda Alvarado in Andrews, TX on July 23, 1974. He was Catholic.
Mr. Collins lived in California until adulthood moving to Odessa to be closer to his mother and step-father and continue his training in cooking. His step-father was a five star chef and passed down his cooking and baking traditions. Garrett was already quite adept in the kitchen and had cooked for the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Cowboys, Jimmy Durante, Maureen O’Hara and other famous palettes. His pineapple upside down cake and shrimp scampi made everyone’s mouths water and they all loved to eat his delicacies. Garrett was a resident of Odessa for 33 years and was a dedicated cook for Catfish and Co. until he retired. A constant comedian, he kept everyone laughing and in good spirits. Everyone had a nickname and was dear to his heart.
Those left to cherish his love and memory include his wife: Belinda Collins of Odessa; sons: Sonny Gutierrez and Robert Collins, both of Odessa; daughter: Denise Collins of Midland; brother: Johnny Collins of Aspermont; sister: Linda Barret of Oklahoma; ten grandchildren: Anitia Gutierrez, Alex Collins, Robert Collins, Jr., Seira Collins, Jorge Collins, Trinity Collins, Adrian Collins, Sarah Glenn, Collin Glenn, and Nathaniel Collins; and two great-granddaughters: Marcy Grooms and Raslynn Grooms.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home Sunday afternoon, June 9, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Felipe Rivera De La Rosa, age 83, of Odessa, passed away, Tuesday,
June 4, 2013 at his residence.
He was born in Castolon, TX on August 23, 1929.
He was an oilfield worker and a rancher. Felipe married
Alicia Barrientos in Ojinaga, Mexico in 1952.

Felipe loved gardening and being outside. Felipe loved teaching his grandchildren good morals and work ethics. Felipe enjoyed taking his grandchildren to baseball games and spending time with his family. His utmost favorite hobby was eating; he would get upset when his family would stop him from eating. His other favorite past time was sleeping. Felipe also enjoyed a good old western movie and animal shows.
When Felipe and his wife would argue he jokingly would call his wife Bartola and she lovingly would respond by calling him Bartolo.Rosary will be said Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. Pilar Navarrete Gomez
Pilar Navarrete Gomez, 87, of Odessa Texas passed away on Wednesday June 5, 2013. She was born in Ojinaga Mexico on October 11, 1925 to Manuel and Ildefonsa Perez. She was married to Armando Gomez.
Pilar was a one of a kind. Her cooking was extra special. She cooked from the heart and made the best empanadas and sweet cookies - never using a recipe. She added a pinch of this and a pinch of that and lots of love to her dishes. She would help anyone at any time. It was usually her way or the highway but in a good way. Her children considered her the best mom ever, and a wonderful person. Pilar was a fun loving joker who loved to play around. Pilars pride and joy was her rose bushes.
Those left to cherish her memories are one son: Alvaro Navarrete of Fort Stockton; three daughters: Ramona Gomez de Chavez of Chihuahua Mexico, Enedina Gomez de Garcia of Odessa, Nora Gomez de Baeza of Hobbs New Mexico; one sister: Maria Navarrete de Gutierrez of Ojinaga Chih, MX; Fourteen Grand children and eighteen great grandchildren.
Pilar was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Ildefonsa Navarrete, and her husband Armando Gomez.
Rosary will be recited at Acres West at 7 pm Thursday June 6, 2013. Funeral services and interment will be at a later date in Ojinaga, Mexico. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria De Valle in Ojinaga, Mexico.
Connie Colleen Todd
Connie Colleen Todd, 75, of Odessa, joined her Savior on Thursday, June 5th at 1:33 pm. She was born to Johnny James and Helen Louise Williamson on October 27, 1937 in Clover, Idaho. She graduated from high school in Buhl, ID and attended Boise Business College.
Connie married the love of her life, Tom Todd, on January 22, 1972. God blessed them with 41 years together. She was the owner of T&C Sales, and co-owner of Urban Land Company and M&J Sitter Service. She and Tom volunteered with Make-A-Wish, CASA, and the Civil Air Patrol, which allowed them to travel from coast to coast by airplane and vehicle. Connie had also served as a member of the Republican Women.
Connie was a devoted wife, mother, granny and Nana to her best friend, Brentley. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Her passions included gardening, collecting lighthouses and miniature cars, and most importantly taking immaculate care of her beloved ’79 powder blue Corvette.
She is survived by her husband: Tom Todd; siblings: Rita Strong, Johnny Williamson, Betty Williamson, and Lana Salter; daughter: Tammy Todd; son: Mike Todd; daughter-in-law: Anita Todd; daughter: Mindy Gregg and son-in-law: Wiley Gregg; nephews: Scott Salter, Jeff Salter, and Kyle Todd; nieces: Dana Todd and Jennifer Todd; nieces-in-law: Catriona Salter and Petra McCall; grandchildren: Tia Gregg, Rusty Waggoner, Jason LeMonie, Jessica Gregg, Ashley Carpenter and Amber Gregg; grandchildren-in-law: Jordan Waggoner, Christa Brown, Josh Gregg, William Carpenter, Louie Swabby, and Brenden Darby; great-grandchildren: Brentley Swabby, Kagen Waggoner, Keaton Waggoner, Khloe Pearson, Faith Becker, Dayton LeMoine, Colton Gregg, Jayden Carpenter, Mallory Carpenter, William Carpenter, Jr., Emma Darby, and Kensley Darby; great-nephews and great-nieces: Justin and Corey Salter, Michael Strong, Megan Todd, Ewan Salter, Adam Salter and Cody Parker; and special family member: Elaine Baeza.

Walter Henry Schwartz, Jr., age 85, of Odessa, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at his home. He was born in Crews, Texas on September 4, 1927 to Walter Henry Schwartz, Sr. and Sadie Lee (Moore) Schwartz. He was a roughneck and a welder. He was also a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Schwartz was a religious man who watched GLC on a daily basis. He was also very interested in politics and current events. You almost never saw him without a Bible and a newspaper. His major priorities were God, family, and country.
He is survived by his wife: Christine Schwartz of Odessa; four sons: Alvin Schwartz and wife Cindy of Andrews, Jerry Schwartz and wife Vickie of Lubbock, and Gary Stringer of Odessa and Rusty Schwartz of Gatesville; daughters: Diane Schwartz of Odessa and Rebekah Barnes of Gatesville; sisters: Jennie Margaret Lee of Abilene, Arlene Fay Boles of Winters, Waldene Wilda Walpole of Monroe, LA, Martha Lee Standlee of Sugarland, Phyllis Elizabeth Fulton of Odessa, Nancy Dell Allison of Rio Rancho, NM; brothers: Hartwell William Schwartz of Comanche, Donald Ray Schwartz of Odessa, and Jimmy Elwood Schwartz of Early; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Doretta Willeen Gerhart, Alta Mae Belfiore, Joyce Lanell Peteete, Ralph Hale Schwartz, and Lanny Ross Schwartz.
