Michael Anthony Buskirk, 58, of Odessa passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at his Odessa Residence. Michael was born on May 8, 1956 in Aberdene, WA. Michael married Joanna Russell in Fayetteville, AR on May 28, 1999. He worked as a lead tech for the Family Dollar maintenance department.
Survivors are his loving wife Joanna Buskirk, two brothers, two sisters, and one niece: Nicole Pyle of Minnesota.

Bobby Kirk “Bob” Harmonson, age 78, of Odessa was called home by his Lord on Friday morning, May 9, 2014. He was born on February 3, 1936 to the late Sam Jackson Harmonson and Willa Jo (Kirk) Harmonson in Breckenridge, TX, where he grew up with his grandparents: Bob and Mattie Kirk. He moved to Odessa in the mid 50’s and owned Bob’s Meat Packing Plant for many years. He made some of the best sausages and hams around!
Bob met his wife Georgia Lena (Johnke) Harmonson in Big Spring and they married September 3, 1953. They were devoted to one another for 56 years until separated by her death in 2009.
Bob loved to fish and spent much of his time at his favorite lakes. He enjoyed the friendship of several dogs throughout his life and loved them dearly. Bob never met a stranger and had a contagious smile. His special ministry throughout his life was bringing others to the Lord on a daily basis.
Those left to carry on his legacy are his son: Kirk Allen Harmonson of Watauga; daughter: Beverly Ann Harmonson of Lubbock; granddaughter: Brittney Musser and husband Ben and their children: Haley, Tyler, and Parker, all of Watauga; sister: Roxanna Dolph of Ft. Worth and her daughter: Nickie Avery and family of Ft. Worth.
The family wishes to recognize Gloria Aguilar who took such great care of Bob.

Kenneth Mitchell “Kenny” McKee, Jr. age 56, passed from this life on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Deerings Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Odessa. He was born in McCamey on December 24, 1957, an early Christmas present, to Nola Modean (Stephens) McKee and the late Kenneth Mitchell McKee, Sr. He was Baptist.
Kenny had a talent for the art of cake decorating. Although he had no children of his own, his nieces, nephew, great-nieces, and great-nephews always knew that he was devoted to them. He enjoyed all children and liked to share his knowledge about decorating cakes and other handy skills with them. Kenny was always very family oriented, and although he and Quentin might teasingly gang up on their sister Tonia, he was the first to be there when anyone in his family needed anything. He was a good hearted person who was fun to be around. He liked to watch Disney films and the Wizard of Oz.
He is survived by his mother: Nola McKee, brother: Quentin McKee, and sister: Tonia Nash, all of Odessa. His beloved group of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews includes: Heaven, Missy, Lisa, Sadie, Callie, JoJo, Rhemi, Ruby (who is on the way), Charles Mitchell, Jordi, C. J. and Mitchell. He also had a large “Odessa family” that will mourn his loss.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd. Odessa, officiated by Shawn Key of Rainbow Promises. Interment will follow in McCamey at the Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Juliana S. Briones, age 73, was called to Heaven from her Odessa home to reunite with her beloved husband, Mauricio, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, the anniversary of his death. Juliana was born on January 7, 1941 in Pecos, Texas to Macedon and Filomena (Gomez) Segovia. She married Mauricio Briones in Kermit, TX in 1957. She was a great homemaker, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was Catholic.
Those left to cherish her memories are four sons: Lorenzo Briones of Albuquerque, NM, Humberto Briones of Kermit, Mauricio Briones Jr. of Ozona and Mario Sauceda of Roswell; six daughters: Gloria Armendariz of Kermit, Irma Sauceda of Roswell, NM, Josie Serna, Rachel Briones and Yuri Saenz, all of Odessa, and Lizette Briones of Albuquerque, NM; her sister: Abby Montoya of Odessa; twenty-six grandchildren and fifty-two great-grandchildren.
Her parents, her husband, five brothers and three sisters all precede her to her heavenly home.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Acres West 24 HR Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel, officiated by Fr. Joseph Mamachen. Interment will be at a later date at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, Odessa.
|Elmer Leo Stearns|
Elmer Leo Stearns, 78, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2014 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on Saturday, February 29, 1936 to George E. Stearns and Gertrude Hill. He graduated high school and wed the love of his life in March of 1965. Elmer enlisted in the United States Army on April 1, 1959 and served until March 16, 1961 as a Corporal in the Vietnam War.
Elmer was a “crackerjack”, he was always found telling jokes. He loved his friends and family dearly. A very crafty gentleman, he liked to make chimes out of metal pipe and aluminum cans. Elmer also liked to make kids’ rocking chairs out of plywood.
Those left to cherish his love and memory is his wife, Mary, of Odessa; sons Larry Beacom and Scott Beacom, both of Traverse City, Michigan; daughters Mary Beth Beacom of Venice, Florida, Cindy Gault of Carson City, Nevada, and Robin Cisco of Odessa; brothers Richard Walker and Vance Morgan, both of Odessa; sisters Elma Collins, of Sacramento, California, and Vicki Morgan of Odessa; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents.

Enedina Martinez, age 52, of McCamey, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Odessa. She was born in McCamey, TX on October 21, 1961 to the late Albino Luna and Celestina Deanda. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
Enedina’s grandchildren were the world to her. She loved to dance and was full of laughter. She was unselfish, generous, and always there when you needed her. A wonderful sister, she always kept everyone laughing. Enedina enjoyed traveling and the San Antonio River Walk was a favorite.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband: Luis A. Martinez of McCamey; son: Luis C. Martinez of McCamey; daughter: Enestina Deanda of Odessa; three brothers: Pete Deanda of Rankin, Eloy Deanda of McCamey and Arturo Luna and wife Virginia of Hobbs, NM; four sisters: Maria Quintanar and husband Ismael of Odessa, Elvira Deanda of San Antonio, Annie Valenzuela and husband John of Cedar Park, and Emma Deanda of Odessa; and five grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey, officiated by Father Laurent Mvondo. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Odessa.

Kathryn Gayle “Kathy” Robins, age 64, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at her home. She was born in Edmond, OK on October 2, 1949 to the late Earl and Mildred Augusta (Schuster) Robins. She worked for Medical Center Hospital as a PBX operator.
She is survived by several nieces, one nephew, and many cousins.
Her parents and her brother, Phillip Robins, preceded her in death.

Richard Lopez Soto, age 51, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 in Springfield, MO. He was born in Tulare, CA on November 24, 1962 to Lydia (Lopez) Soto and the late Panfilo A. Soto. He worked in construction and concrete laying and finishing.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his mother: Lydia Soto of Odessa; three sons: Richard Lopez Soto, Jr. of Odessa, Xavier Diaz Soto and wife Maira of Georgetown, and Christopher Diaz Soto of Dallas; daughter: Amanda Ann Soto and husband John Maldonado of Odessa; brothers: Eddie Soto and Robert Soto, both of Odessa; sisters: Yolanda Hidalgo and husband David of Odessa and Gloria Soto Juarez and husband Juan of Houston; grandchildren: John Fabian Maldonado Jr., Arianni Sophia Maldonado, and Isabella Renee Soto; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Melvin Dewayne Teague, age 57, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed from this life on Monday, May 19, 2014 at his home in Goldsmith. He was born in Giddings, TX on October 22, 1956 to Carmon Ruth (Wilson) Jones and the late Melvin Dee Teague. He was a truck driver, who traveled coast to coast and a US Army Veteran. He was also a 4th Degree Master Mason.
Melvin enlisted in the Army at the age of 18 and served in Germany. While working for Kellogg Brown and Root, he traveled to Iraq. As a truck driver, he went all over the USA. He loved people and never met a stranger. As he made his journeys, he made friends all over the world. As an avid outdoorsman, Melvin enjoyed scuba diving, hunting and just being in the mountains.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother: Carmon Ruth Jones of Corpus Christi; brother: Tom Teague of Longview; sisters: Davenia Sleet, Ferol Bosley, Hellena Jones, Mildred Lulana Cain and Lonnie Jones, all of Corpus Christi, Lorrie Morgan of Denver, NC, and Carmon Ruth Teague of Lockhart; and his step-mother: Annie Gladine “Dean” Teague of Longview.

Leroy Wayne “Roy” Carey, age 55, of Odessa, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was born in Big Spring, TX on August 16, 1958 to Elva (Osburne) Blackmon and the late Wayne Carey. He worked in construction and was a very hard worker.
Leroy was a family man who was very protective of his children. He had a special bond with his mother and enjoyed going to the lake with his granddad. Leroy was an excellent storyteller who could draw you in make the story real. He lived his final days with his cousins, Denise and Tammy Bolt. Roy wanted everyone to know that he loved Dennis Bolt like a brother and he appreciated how Dennis could always make him laugh.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his mother and father: Elva and James Blackmon of Odessa; sons: Josh Carey of Indiana and Justin Carey of Odessa; daughters: Ashley Carey of Waco and Ayla Carey of Odessa; brother: Monte Caldwell of Odessa; sister: Sheila Smith of Odessa; and numerous grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
