Gloria G. Cortez went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 21, 2014, surrounded by family at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born on January 31, 1955, in Odessa to Locadio R. Cortez and Maria (Benita) Cortez and was a lifelong area resident.
She worked at various home health facilities, a great caregiver for many elders she called “her” own. They loved how she cared for them with devotion to their best interests. She enjoyed antiques, yard sales, reading, dancing, travels, and much more.
Gloria was a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a mother, a grandmother, and an aunt (tia), randomly taking her nieces and nephews for car rides, movies and ice cream.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Matthew F. Sotelo of Austin; daughter, Saphira Angel Miereles; father and mother, Locadio R. and Benita G. Cortez; siblings: brother, Larry Cortez and wife Adeladia, and sisters, Juanita C. Maldonado and husband Manuel, Rita C. Perry and husband David, Magdalena (Maggie) Carrasco and husband Joe, and Elva Estrella, all of Odessa; four grandchildren: Isabella Gloria Sotelo, Amiyah Pealer, Daniel Miereles, and Izaree Hill.
Rosary will be recited at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:00 am, officiated by Father Joe Uecker. Interment will follow at Peaceful Garden of Ector County Cemetery.

Shirley Faye (Collum) Taylor, 78, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 in Odessa. She was born in Texarkana, TX on Saturday, September 26, 1936 to Mary Georgia Cates and Charlie Milton (Collum) Shirley worked in the restaurant business as a waitress and fry cook.
Shirley was a simple, but happy, woman. She enjoyed gardening whenever she got a chance. Shirley liked gambling, and she was always up for a riveting game of Bingo. Shirley holds a very special place in many people’s heart and she will be sorely missed.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are daughters: Jacqueline and husband Billy Purtle of Atlanta, TX, Deborah and husband Tommy Beasley of Texarkana, TX, and Robbie Taylor of Texarkana, TX; brother: George Collum of Odessa; sisters: Josie Snodgrass of Odessa, Mary Barnhill of Oklahoma City, OK and Dorothy Ainsworth of Dublin, TX; grandchildren: Clint and Erica Purtle and Jake and Mitchell Beasley; and niece: Gloria Hallmark.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Charlie and Mary (Cates) Collum; brothers: Cecil Aaron, Curtis Ray Aaron and Glen Collum and sister: Mae Bell.

Terrie Duane Gunnels, age 55, of Odessa, flew away to be with the angels on Monday, November 24, 2014. She began her earthly journey in Kerrville, TX on Monday, December 1, 1958, born to Stacy Parsons and the late Franklin Dale Harrell. She was a homemaker, loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Anthony Gunnels in 2011.
She was a free-spirited kid at heart, who enjoyed music and dancing, and trips to the lake. She had a beautiful mind, and was very loyal to the Lord. With a very strong faith and hope, family was the biggest value and priority in her life, being 2nd after God. Although quite forgiving, when she got mad, she got MAD! On occasion she was livid, but she never stayed angry for long. She would always love you, and be kind to you no matter what. She was stern when raising children, always firm, but she loved spoiling her grandbabies. Selfless, Terrie would give the shirt off her back to help another. She had been through a lot in life, but still kept her chin up, and people were inspired by that.
Terrie is survived by her husband: David Gordon of Midland; mother: Stacy Parsons of Odessa; sons: Robert Dale Keneson of Huntsville and Mikey Lee Keneson of Odessa; daughters: Kisty Middleton and Bonnie Keneson, both of Odessa; sister: Ima Gene Harrell of Odessa; and twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 1, 2014 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell. Interment will follow in Andrews at Andrews North Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West.

Thomas Franklin “T. F.” Reed, age 80, of Odessa, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at his home. He was born in Crosby, TX on December 14, 1933 to the late Wilbur Gale Reed and Bertha Mae (Shaw) Reed. Tom married Ruby Sage in Monahans, TX on January 30, 1953. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas for over 30 years, retiring from Western Gas Res.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of almost 62 years: Ruby Reed of Odessa; daughter: Sherry Herrington and husband Kim of Gardendale; son: Mark Reed and wife Theresa of Snyder; sister: Wanda Bowman and husband J. E. of League City; four grandchildren: Michael Herrington and wife Raylene of Oceanside, CA, Joshua Herrington of Dallas, Brittany Denton and husband Bryon of San Antonio, and Alexis Reed of Snyder; and three great-grandchildren. Bryana Lopez of George West, and Hunter and Leila Herrington of Temecula, CA.

Florence Mae Roy, 88, of Odessa passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 26, 2014 in her home in Odessa. Florence was born to the late William H. Porter and Isabelle Harvey on December 17, 1925 in Abington, Massachusetts. Florence was a homemaker.
Florence loved to eat and never gained weight. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Florence loved her grandkids dearly and was very involved in their lives. She loved her TV and would get upset when it went out.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter: Vicki Roy and husband Daniel Quintana of Houston, daughter-in- law: Robin Roy of Odessa, sister: Lorraine Watson of Massachusetts and two grandchildren: Robbie Cranfill and William Roy and numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Florence is preceded in death by her parents: William and Isabelle Porter and her Husband: Bill O. Roy, Son: David E. Roy and ten siblings.
Memorial Services are scheduled for Tuesday December 2, 2014 at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Reverend Jimmy Braswell. Interment will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Frances Oleta Fuller, age 82, of Odessa, died Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Sienna Care Center. She was born in San Antonio, TX on August 6, 1932. She was a retired nurse’s aide.
She is survived by her son: Russell Manning and wife Shane of Piedmont, SC; daughter: Cheryl Kay Price of Odessa; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Mae Wharton, 83, of Odessa was called to heaven on November 28, 2014 in Odessa. Bonnie was born to the late Arthur Carl and Sula Mae (Ayers) Darst in Whitewright, TX on Sunday, May 31, 1931.
Bonnie married William H. “Bill” Wharton in 1952. Together they attended First Baptist Church of Plainview until 1983, when they relocated to Odessa. Bill preceded her in death in 1995.
A homemaker, Bonnie loved to sew and cook. She was a remarkable person and will be dearly loved and missed.
Those left to cherish her memories are daughters Patsy Corbell and husband, Terry of Midland, Gail Leaton and husband, Richard of Artesia, NM, and Cheryl Strubel of Medford, OR; brothers James Darst of Arlington, TX, and Alton Darst of Phoenix, AZ; sisters Geraldine Hamblen of Happy, TX, and Peggy Hill of Canyon, TX; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Billy Wharton.

Jerry D. Smith, 58, of Odessa, passed away on November 30, 2014 at his residence. Jerry was born February 27, 1956 to David E and Etta Ann (McCracken) Smith.
A lifetime resident of Odessa, Jerry was a graduate of Odessa High School and Sul Ross State University. He was a bull rider and a member of the Professional Rodeo Association. He was a pipeline welder employed by Holloman Corporation. His true passion was his farm, where he raised cattle and quarter horses. Jerry was a diligent man who placed more value in his handshake than his signature, and was a true friend.
Survivors include his wife: Cathy; two sons: Tye Welch (Rebecca) of Odessa and Tanner Wilkerson of Gardendale; five granddaughters: Katelyn, Makayla, Cheyenne, Aubrey, and Brylee; his father: David of Odessa; and two sisters: Suetta McCorcle (Harley) of Gonzales, Texas and Sherri Helmstettler (Johnny) of Mt. Vernon, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. His Mother preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Molly Redman was born May 30, 1965 in Monahans, TX. Molly and Lawrence Redman were married May 2, 1984 in Odessa. She was a loving wife to Lawrence for 30 years. She was a wonderful mother to four children and three in-laws: Jami (Christie) and William Elledge, Amanda and Sean Clawson, Leonard and Misty Redman, and Lawrence Redman, Jr., all of Odessa, TX. She has two granddaughters and four grandsons.
She loved to do crafts and draw and decorate her grandbabies’ cakes. She always put family, friends, and her animals first before her own needs. She was always smiling, even though she was in pain.
Molly is preceded in death by her adopted parents: Gentry and Paulene Bryant; her biological mother: Virginia Hogan; her other mother: Roxie Coppage and husband James; two brothers: Jesse Hogan and Johnny Sanders; and her sister: Tammy Walker.
She is also survived by her father and step-mom: Ernie and Hortensia Sanders; eight brothers and seven sisters-in-law: Ernie and Becky Sanders, Darrell and Vernice Bryant, Wayne and Janet Bryant, William and Kerri Sewell, Jack Nichols, Mark and Yvette Sanders, Michael and Tammy Sanders, and Richard and Haidelyn Sanders; six sisters and two brothers-in-law: Virginia Gonzalez, Michelle and Larry Rimer, Darlene and Glenn Whitley, Roberta Stilwell, Margie Lynch, and Jodie Juarez; and too many nieces and nephews to count.

Our Lord and Savior called Juanita Stephens Perkins Home, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Juanita was 70 years old. She was born November 6, 1944 and passed November 30, 2014 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Lamesa, TX to John L. Stephens and Katie Lee Sanford Stephens. She was an LVN for many years. She attended the Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents: John L. and Katie Lee Stephens; son: Clarence Edward Stephens; brothers: Charles A. Stephens and Joseph F. Stephens; and sisters: Patsy J. Jackson and Elnora Pigg.
Juanita is survived by her son: Darryl K. Stephens, Sr.; sister: Betty (Nathaniel) Green; grandchildren: Demetra Johnson, Jarva Stephens, Shetiva Stephens (Jr.), Beco Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Danij Stephens, Coby Green, Darryl Stephens III, and Coby Hill, all of Odessa, TX, Dandrell Stephens of Hobbs, NM, and Darryl Stephens II (Janal) of Brea, CA; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Saul Urquidez Pando, 68, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in Odessa. He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on Thursday, April 4, 1946 to Marcelino and Escolastica (Urquidez) Pando. He was a laborer.
A very social person, Saul enjoyed having get togethers with his family. Saul enjoyed music, he loved composing and playing his own original pieces. He was a guitarist and he also could play the accordion. He was a simple man, but he liked to enjoy spirits occasionally. Saul had an appreciation for food, his favorite being shrimp. He was a great person, and he held his family close to his heart. He will be loved and missed dearly.
