Allan W Miller
Allan Wayne Miller

Allan Wayne Miller, 53, of Odessa was called to Heaven on March 5, 2015 in Odessa. Allan was born to the late Richard Allan Miller and Lavelle Lacy on March 3, 1962 in San Diego. CA.  Allan married Kathy Secrest in 1991 in Kissimmee; FL. Allan was a caser-supervisor in the oilfield industry.

Allan was independent.  He loved America and our constitution. Allan also enjoyed going to the oilfield and riding his bike (a 2001 Road King). He was just getting into gold prospecting. He loved his kids and grandkids. Allan was a very selfless man and worried more about his family. He loved music, such as rock-and –roll, metal, classic rock, and blues. His favorite band was AC/DC, but he also enjoyed listening to Ted Nugent and Eternal Mosh.  Allan was known as “Casing God”.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memories are his loving wife: Kathy Secrest of Odessa; mother: Lavelle Miller of Westbrook; sons: Max Howe and wife Jan of St. Cloud, FL, Zach Wiseman and Rambo Miller both of Odessa; daughters: Kara Howe and husband Doc Pierson of Kissimmee, Ashley Wiseman of West Jefferson, OH, Casey Wiseman, Nikki Secrest and husband Ben Montoya and Shanna Miller all of Odessa; brother: John Miller of Westbrook; and sister: Lynn Zant and husband Warren of Westbrook; aunt: Dorrie of Westbrook, and fifteen grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel on  Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 2 pm officiated by Brother Dewey Blevins.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd. Odessa, TX.

Valentina Galindo

Valentina Galindo, edad 90 años, de Odessa, falleció en su casa el viernes 6 de Marzo de 2015. Hija del Sr. José Acosta y las Sra. Clara De la O, en El Rancho Incoteas Coahuila México, el 12 de Febrero de 1925. Era ama de casa y de religión católica.

 Valentina era una mujer muy amorosa, fuerte, y muy respetuosa,  le gustaba cantar, cocinar y la jardinería; siempre muy generosa y servicial con todos.

Fue muy querida por todos los que la conocían, fue un gran pilar para su familia ya que gracias a ella, sus hijos son muy unidos y se cuidan unos a otros.

Los que se quedan para conmemorar su recuerdo y mantenerlo vivo son sus hijos(as) y sus conyugues:

El rosario será en la funeraria Acres West el Domingo 8 y lunes 9 de marzo de 2015 a las 7:00 pm.

La misa será el martes 10 de marzo de 2015 a las 10:00 am. En la iglesia católica San José, oficiada por el padre Isidore Ochiabuto. Saliendo al panteón Ector County en la sección  Peaceful Gardens.

Valentina Galindo, age 90, of Odessa, passed away at her home on Friday, March 6, 2015.  She was born to the late Jose and Clara (Dela O) Acosta at Incoteas Ranch in Coahuila, Mexico on February 12, 1925.  She was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Valentina was brought up to respect others and was a strong and loving woman, who was beloved by everyone who knew her.  She was her family’s foundation.  Because of her, they will always be united and devoted to one another.  Valentina enjoyed singing, cooking, and gardening.  She was a generous and helpful person to everyone.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her sons:  Reyes Galindo and wife Teofila, Refugio Galindo and wife Velia, Carlos Galindo and wife America, Eleacer Galindo and wife Guadalupe, Alfredo Galindo and wife Doris, and Jorge Galindo and wife Lily, all of Odessa; daughters:  Ricarda Marquez and husband Clemente of Lovington, NM, Beatrice Galindo of Delicias, CH, MX, Sabina Valdez and husband Ildefonso of Presidio, Vaciliza Huerta and husband Eloy, Gloria Valdez and husband Rogelio, Celestina Juarez and husband Pablo, all of Odessa, and Juana Ruiz and husband Alfonso of Monahans; brother:  Hiliario Acosta of Odessa; sisters:  Dominga Galindo and Rufina Bernal both of Ft. Stockton, and Gregoria Eredia of Midland; forty-seven grandchildren; eighty-four great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents:  Jose Acosta and Clara Dela O; husband:  Jose Galindo; daughters:  Antonia, Santos, and Valentina; son:  Antonio; sisters:  Erminia Gomez, Leandra Marquez, Manuel Marquez, Margarita Garcia, Antonia Torres, and Maria Garcia; and brothers:  Gomicindo, Saturnino, Reyes, Cecilio, and Elpidio Acosta.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel at 7:00 pm Sunday and Monday, March 8th and 9th.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Father Isidore Ochiabuto.  Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Sonia Isabel Kay

Sonia Isabel Kay, 19, of Odessa was called to Heaven on Friday March 6, 2015 in Odessa. Sonia was born on Tuesday November 28, 1995 to Joseph Kay and Mary Lopez in Odessa. Sonia worked as a cashier.

She was a character who was a tough little cookie. Her favorite colors were black and white. She was a good person, and loved listening to oldies and rap music and adored her nieces and nephews. Sonia will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her beautiful memories are her parents: Mary and Joseph Kay of Odessa, maternal grandparents; Roman and Francis Lopez of Andrews, paternal grandmother; Isidora Kay of El Paso, brothers; Joseph Kay and David Kay, sister: Ximena Diana Gallegos all of Odessa.

Funeral Services will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Wednesday March 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Gabriel Gomez. Following services, she will be interred at Andrews Cemetery in Andrews Texas.

Nancy Deal
Nancy Charlene Deal

Nancy Charlene Deal, age 44, of Odessa, died Friday, March 6, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Monday, June 15, 1970 in Abilene, TX to Elbert Henry Burkhalter and Nancy Jean Goddard.

Nancy was a fun loving and caring person who put her all into everything she did.  She was always helping anyone that needed it and was very dedicated. She was an awesome daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, as well as an “other mother.”  She loved to color and to watch WWE, with her favorite being John Cena.  She also enjoyed watching NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr., and she was a big Dallas Cowboys fan.

Survivors are her mother: Nancy Goddard; one son: Bobby Lynn Mansker and one daughter, Normajean Darlene Clements and husband Jesse Clements, all of Odessa; one brother: Judson Mikle Burkhalter and wife Jennifer of Linkwood, MD; sister: Jessica Collison of Cambridge, MD; and two grandchildren:  Desary Darlene Deal and Aden Mansker, with another one on the way; uncle:  Harry Goddard and wife Deborah; and father of her children:  Billy Deal.  She is also survived by her adopted son, Rojo Hernandez, and her best friend, Judy Owens.

Open Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Belmont Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor John McLemore. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Consuelo Salcido Vargas

Consuelo Salcido Vargas, age 57, of Odessa, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 7, 2015.  She was born in Emiliano Zapata, Valle de Zaragoza, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Juan and Elvira (Quintana) Salcido.  She was a homemaker.  She was a Jehovah Witness and loved sharing with other people about the Bible.

Consuelo loved to be in her garden.  She also loved cooking and listening to Songs to Jehovah.  Consuelo loved her husband dearly and they enjoyed traveling together.  Her children and grandchildren were everything to her.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years:  Francisco Vargas of Odessa; two sons:  Luis Vargas and Isaac Vargas and wife Amanda, both of Odessa; three daughters:  Blanca Vargas, Flor Carretero and husband Sergio, and Sandra Fuentes and husband Victor, all of Odessa; brother:  Ricardo Salcido of Kansas; and Ana Faudoa of Zaragoza, CH, MX.

On Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 7:00 pm, a prayer service will be held at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Anciano Hugo Martinez.  Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

James Everhart  James W Everhart
James William Everhart 

James William Everhart, 68, of Odessa, was embraced by our loving father on Saturday, March 7, 2015 in Odessa. James was born to the late Dewie Wanda Everhart and Vera Louise Freeman on Wednesday, October 2, 1946 in Quitaque Texas. James married Lavona Kaker on Saturday, November 18, 1967 before leaving for Germany for a year. He worked as a diesel mechanic for over twenty five years.

 He was a big outdoor person who loved riding his four wheeler, fishing and camping. James also enjoyed bowling, singing and playing his guitar. His favorite band was “The Eagles” and he also enjoyed old country music. James loved his family. James was a very personable person everyone he met liked him. He would move heaven and earth to help out people.

He had worked at various places throughout over Odessa. James loved taking photos and doing yard work. He also did some carpentry and worked on his house. James was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan. He also enjoyed Nascar especially when his favorite driver was racing (Dale Earnhart Jr.) James also enjoyed watching humming birds.

Those left to cherish his wonderful and precious memories are his loving wife: Lavona Everhart, one son: James Dewie Everhart of Odessa, sisters: Linda O’Rear and Tammie Boehm both of Jal NM., two grandchildren: Devin Everhart and Ryann Everhart both of Odessa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother:  Rickey Everhart.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Mack D Swoopes
Mack D. “Chokey” Swoopes

Mack “Chokey” Swoopes, Jr. was born on March 11, 1936 to Mr. Mack Swoops, Sr. and Mrs. Inez Truesdale Swoopes in Lott, Texas. He was the fourth child of seven born to that union. He passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa on Monday, March 9, 1936.

At a very rare age, he and his family moved to Odessa, Ector County, TX, where he and his siblings attended the public schools of ECISD. After graduation from Blackshear Jr.-Sr. High in 1957, Chokey entered Huston Tillotson College in Austin, TX and later transferred to Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. After college, Chokey joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country for two years before being honorable discharged. He served as a certified jailer for Ector County and was very active in politics. He was an active member of Mission Dorado Baptist Church.

His survivors include two sisters: Jackie L. Hammond (Lee Roy) of Odessa, TX and Billie Louise Swoopes of Lubbuck, TX; one son: Jerald Glen Rheams of Dallas, TX; one grandson: Mack Rheams of Odessa, TX and his beloved companion: Katherine Wallace.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2015 at St. Matthew Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Christopher Redden.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

 
Timothy Carroll Nicholson

Timothy Carroll Nicholson, age 35, of Odessa, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Odessa. He was born in Casper, WY on Monday, May 28, 1979 to Rick Nicholson and Patricia Ann Doyle. Timothy met the love of his life, Mandy Jo Mendoza, and married her on December 24, 2009 in Alaska. Timothy worked in the oilfield as a radiation safety officer. 

Those left to cherish his love and memory are wife: Mandy Jo (Mendoza) Nicholson of Odessa; mother: Patricia Ann Corkill of Dubois, WY; son: Lane Nicholson of Dubois, WY; daughter: Jacinda Nicholson of Dubois, WY; and sisters: Teresa Baier of Casper, WY, and Amanda Lake of Helena, MT.

Timothy was preceded in death by his father: Rick Nicholson, and his daughter: Alexis Nicholson.

Harold Lee Gaddis

Harold Lee Gaddis, age 87, of Odessa, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.  He was born in Linton, Indiana on September 28, 1927 to Clyde and Juanita Gaddis.  He married Marybelle Elsie Ehrhart in Odessa in 1997.  He worked in the oilfield as a pumper and a truck driver.

Harold was a dedicated husband and hard worker.  In his early years, he rode motorcycles and more recently enjoyed traveling to Illinois to see family with Marybelle.  Harold loved to eat meat. He enjoyed fishing and was always tinkering with whatever he could get his hands on.

He is survived by his wife:  Marybelle Gaddis of Odessa; son:  Butch Gaddis of Corpus Christi; daughter:  Sharla Nickell and husband James of Nebo, IL; step-son:  Joe Smith; grandchildren:  Crystal, Mary Francis, Margie, Monica, Melissa, Tammy Duke, Michelle Barnett, Gabrielle Blye, Rebecca Smith, Bobbie Smith, Thurmon Smith and Michael Smith; and great-grandchildren:  Brandy, Billy, BJ, Josh, Ashley, Kathy, Chris, Bart, Colton, Shelbi, Abby, Byron, Jilessa, Robyn, Tonya, Ricky, Tas, Hailey, Lindsey, Allen, Jonathan, Ashley, Michael, Destiney, Christina, Micah, Marissa, and Joshua; great-great grandchildren:  Elaine, Ross, Natalie, Shyanne, Hayden, Riley, John, Kristen, Phoenix, Jameson, Harley, Austin, Kalliope, and Brittan.

Bruno O. Salazar

Bruno O. Salazar, age 88, of Presidio, passed away at his daughter’s home in Odessa on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.  He was born in Redford, TX on October 6, 1926 to the late Felipe and Maximiana (Olivas) Salazar.  He was a farmer and rancher and had retired from the oilfield. He was Catholic.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons:  Arnulfo Salazar of Denver City, Bruno Salazar of Lovington, NM, Felipe Salazar of Odessa, Uriel Salazar of Monahans, and Gabriel Salazar of Odessa; daughters:  Sofia Valenzuela of Denver City, Dolores Rodriguez and Zulema Salazar, both of El Paso, Socorro Covos of Odessa, Esperanza Melendez of Presidio, Lucia Aguilar of Odessa, Susan Mendoza of El Paso, and Leticia Mendoza of Odessa; brother:  Eddie Salazar of Denver City; sisters:  Maria Jesus Carrasco of Carlsbad, NM and Lupe Orona of Denver City; twenty-nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son:  Bruno Jr.; daughter:  Lucia; and one great-grandson.

Rosary will be recited at St. Teresa de Jesus Catholic Church in Presidio at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2015.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, March 13, 2015, officiated by Fr. Mike Alcuino.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
