Nellie Hoyle
Nellie Joe Hoyle

Nellie Joe Hoyle, age 89, of Odessa, passed away at Seabury Nursing Home in Odessa on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.  She was born in Clinton, AR on February 26, 1926 to the late Clyde Richard and Melvina (Gardner) Cooley.  She was a homemaker.

An old fashioned country girl, she was always wanting to feed everyone.  She loved to baby children (even the ones who belonged to someone else). She loved to garden, especially when Liz did all the work! She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her sons:  Johnnie C. Hoyle of Blackwell and Bransford Hoyle and wife Angela of Ballinger; daughter:  Elizabeth Bishop and husband Robert of Odessa; and one sister:  Edith Howard of Paris, MO; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

In addition to her parents and husband:  John Walter Hoyle, she is preceded in death by her daughter:  Agnes; daughter-in-law:  Peggy; three brothers and one sister.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Christian Raymond Andersen

Christian Raymond Andersen, age 61, of Odessa, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Odessa. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday, April 1, 1953 to Andy and  Dorla (Mertz) Anderson. Christian met the love of his life, Murray Anne Jackson, and they wed on Friday, December 23, 1994 in Peoria, Arizona. Christian was a truck driver, an owner and operator of a truck driving company, spanning 48 states.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife: Murray Anne Andersen of Odessa; son: Wesley Ray of New England, ND; daughter: Connie Andersen of Odessa; brother: Steve Andersen of Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Christian was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Dorla Andersen.

Memorial services will be 2 pm Monday, March 16, 2015 at Grace Christian Fellowship, officiated by Pastor Clark Racca and assisted by Pastor Steven Adair.

Josefina Sierra Vega
Josefina Sierra Vega

Josefina Sierra Vega, age 62, of Odessa, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 14, 2015.  She was born in Jalpan, Queretaro, Mexico on March 19, 1952 to Genoveva (Vasquez) Sierra and the late Angel Sierra.  She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband:  Felix Vega of Odessa; mother:  Genoveva Sierra of Mexico; three sons:  Senovio Vega, Leo Vega, and Felix Vega, all of Odessa; three daughters:  Maggie Garcia and Yolanda Vasquez, both of Odessa and Maria Martinez of Alvin, TX; four sisters; eighteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and one son:  Gilbert Vega.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Carollou Audrey Meade

Carollou Audrey Meade, age 87, of Midland passed away at her home on Saturday, March 14, 2015.  She was born in Cloquet, Minnesota on December 4, 1927.

She is survived by her husband Frank Meade of Midland.

She is preceded in death by her parents:  Einard and Muriel (Hansen) Swenson; her brother:  Arnold Swenson; and sister:  Elizabeth Swenson.

Services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Enrique Ochoa Ronquillo

Enrique Ochoa Ronquillo, age 19, of Odessa, was called away suddenly to his Heavenly home after a car accident early Sunday morning, March 15, 2015.  He was born in Odessa on March 1, 1996 to Enrique Ronquillo Fernandez and Maricela (Ochoa Galindo) Ronquillo.  He worked as a welder’s helper in the oilfield. 

Enrique was a cheerful and outgoing man.  He was a respectful and well respected person, who was loved by all.  He always put other people before himself.  An outdoorsman, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.  Enrique was a lovable son and brother and a great uncle.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents:  Enrique and Maricela Ronquillo of Odessa; grandfather:  Enrique Ronquillo Poblano of Ojinaga, CH, MX; one brother:  Eduardo Ronquillo of Odessa and sister:  Marisol Ronquillo of Odessa; nephew:  Adriel Ronquillo of Odessa; and his Tios Ronquillo and Tios Ochoa.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Father Frank Chavez. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Donna Marie (Hodnett) Gant

Donna Marie (Hodnett) Gant, age 55, went to meet her heavenly Father on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at her home in Odessa, Texas. She was born in Odessa on Saturday, August 8, 1959 to Madilyn Marie Cloniger and the late Don Hardy Hodnett.

Donna is survived by her mother: Madilyn Marie Lowman; her two daughters: LeaAnna Gant Calzada and Aleisha Gant; her grandchildren: Taylor, Abigail, Elliot, and Derek Abram; her two brothers: Clyde Hedrick and his sons Alex and Connor of Woodland California, and Ted Hedrick and wife Leia their children Lexi and Laityn of Odessa, Texas.

Donna graduated from Odessa High School on May 31, 1977. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Seabury Nursing Home for some time but later in life became a homemaker. She took care of her children along with the neighborhood brats. She was fun and enjoyed a good laugh.

Donna left too soon and will be missed by all especially her kids and grandkids. She is preceded in death by her father: Don Hardy Hodnett; her stepfather: Ed Lowman; and her grandparents: Elias Don and Willie Lea Cloniger, and Hap and Rosa Hodnett.

Viewing will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Thursday March 19, 2015 from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm and a memorial service will be held at Acres West on Friday March 20, 2015 at 11:00 am.

Ezekiel Eduardo Carrillo

The Lord decided he needed help from another angel and selected Baby Ezekiel Eduardo Carrillo to sit at His right hand. Little Ezekiel was born Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Odessa Regional to Jesus Eduardo Carrillo and Samantha Kim Porras.

Those left to look forward to holding him again one day are his parents, his paternal grandparents: Maria Tereza Celis and Marcos Carrillo of Durango, Mexico and maternal grandfather: Samuel Porras of Odessa; as well as his Aunt Salina Porras of Baldwin, NY and Uncle Samuel Aaron Porras of Odessa.

His loving grandmother, Tracy Flores, holds him in Heaven until we can join him someday.

Graveside services are scheduled for 9:00 am, Monday, March 23, 2015 at Los Angeles Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.

Carolyn Bell Monroe Montgomery
Carolyn Bell Monroe Montgomery, a loving Mom, Grandma and Sister picked up her wings and joined her Lord in Heaven on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at her home in Odessa. She was born Thursday, February 21, 1957 in Lubbock to the late James and Venora (Rollie) Montgomery.

Carolyn loved her family, kids and grandkids and enjoyed cooking for them all. In her pastime, she enjoyed shopping, playing Bingo, traveling and listening to Blues. She was a great entertainer who was very good at making people laugh and was very proud of her wide collection of ladies’ hats which would turn others green with envy and would sport one whenever she could (everyday). An outgoing, robust woman, Carolyn was a hard worker who most always held down two jobs. She graduated Ector High in 1975 and went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree as a Teacher’s Aide having maintained an “A” average throughout her schooling. She was a member of Manna for Life Ministries.

Those left behind to cherish her memories are one son: Devedrick Montgomery and wife Ladonna; one daughter: Sharika Groves and husband Bobby; two sisters: Catherine Montgomery, Patricia Williams and husband Terry all of Odessa, one brother-in-law: Henry Alexander of Midland, four grandchildren Ada’avon, Drenique, Da’vonta and Isaiah and one great grandchild on the way.

Wake will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Greater St John Baptist Church, with services to be held at 1 pm Friday, March 27, 2015 with Reverend Donnie Rollie officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Greg Johnson, Patrick Jenkins, JJ Simpson, Johnny Rollie, Gary Rollie and Alfred Rollie. Honorary Pallbearers are Clifton Montgomery and Lester Morrison.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Douglas “Zok”, three sisters: Joyce Alexander, Rochelle and Renee Montgomery.

Lowrance Larry Homsey, Jr.

Lowrance Larry Homsey, Jr., age 68, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 in Odessa. He was born in Elk City, OK on Sunday, October 6, 1946 to the late Dorothy Louise (Elliott) and Lowrance Larry Homsey, Sr.. Larry joined the military and served in both the United States Marines and the Navy.

Larry stayed busy; he was enlisted in the Marines for ten years until he had to retire. He didn’t like that too much, so he turned around and enlisted in the Navy, where he stayed for eleven years. He was a big family man; he loved to spend time with his grandkids. Larry was what one would consider a very complex, ornery, yet simple man. Larry liked computers and he had a house full of them, even if they weren’t running. He enjoyed watching television, especially making sure not to miss Jeopardy at 6 every night, and his regular Thursday night line-up. He loved ice cream and 8th Street Southern Maid donuts. Larry had an extensive knife and gun collection, which he was proud of. He was a hard worker and go-getter, God sure broke the mold when he made Larry. He will be loved and missed dearly.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife: Laura Sides, of Odessa; sons: Kevin and Chris Homsey, both of Odessa; daughters Brieanna “Brie” and husband Lynel Stubbs, of Odessa, Cari Knuckles and husband Scott of Nashua, NH, and Dawn Homsey, of San Antonio; brother: Lynn Homsey, of Odessa; and five grandchildren.

Lowrence was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister: Faith Scott.

Rojeana Lee (Busby) Brunette Garrett

Rojeana Lee (Busby) Brunette Garrett, age 66, of Odessa passed away at Continued Care Hospital in Midland on Monday, March 23, 2015.  She was born in Elkhart, KS on October 20, 1948 to Bill and Ethel (Conway) Busby.  Rojeana married Marvin Garrett in Las Vegas on December 12, 1994.  She was a retired beautician.

Rojeana was a super NASCAR fanatic with an extensive memorabilia collection.  She never missed watching or listening to a race.  She also enjoyed decorating with craft material seasonal cards to personalize them.  Making cakes and floral crafts was another outlet for her artistic flair.  A great conversationalist, she was a stranger to no one with a special love for the kiddos and for animals.  Rojeana loved to shop and to travel and had always wanted a backyard garden. Her sister-in-law, Beth, was her partner in crime and they always shared their molten lava cakes. “She was fierce, she was strong.  She wasn’t simple. She was crazy and sometimes she barely slept.  She always had something to say.  She had flaws and that was ok.  And when she was down, she got right back up.  She was a beast in her own way, but one idea described her best.  She was unstoppable and she took anything she wanted with a smile.” – RM Drake

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband:  Marvin Garrett of Odessa; two sons:  Clifton Garrett and wife Rhonda of Corpus Christi and step-son, David Charles Brunette of Florida; step-daughter:  Shyree Brunette of Junction; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
