Amber Michelle Couch

Amber Michelle Couch, age 30, of Odessa, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. She was born in Odessa, Texas to Glenn and Leisa (Jarrett) Couch. She was a homemaker.

Amber Couch was a very loving and caring mother, daughter, niece, aunt, granddaughter, and friend who always put herself last and thought about everyone else’s needs first. She went home to be with her parents and grandparents. Although she was ill, she fought courageously so that she could be there for her kids who she cherished dearly. Amber was a jokester and never lost her sense of humor. Amber was loved by everyone she touched especially her aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins and many friends.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her paternal grandparents: E. Lavern Couch and James Charles Couch of Odessa; maternal grandmother: Naomi Jarrett of Lamesa, Texas; sons: Gage, Kolby, and Ryan Wadley; daughter: Haleigh Wadley; brother: Tim Couch and wife Sara; sister: Tasha Lodge and husband Patrick, all of Odessa.

Amber is preceded in death by her parents: Glenn and Leisa Couch.

Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Monday, May 18, 2015 at Acres West Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Richard Womble. Interment will follow at Los Angeles Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Kevin Raymond Henson

Kevin Raymond Henson, age 52, of Goldsmith, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born in Farmington, NM on Sunday, September 23, 1962 to the late Andrew Wayne and Lawanda June (Colvin) Henson. He was employed as a roughneck in the oilfield.

Kevin was a simple man who enjoyed being outside fishin’ and drinkin’. He will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are brothers: Deryl and wife Marilyn Kathleen Henson, of Bullard, TX, Joe and wife Jannetta Henson, of Tyler, TX, and Jake Floyd, of Goldsmith, TX.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Andrew Von Henson and Steven Dale Henson.

Kevin’s ashes will be laid to rest in Big Lake, Texas at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd., Odessa, TX 79764.

Juanita C Miller
Juanita Chavez Miller

Juanita Chavez Miller went to be with her Lord as well as her husband, parents, father and mother-in–law and a sister, Sophia on May 15, 2015. Juanita was born March 8, 1941 in Shafter, TX to Jesus and Felicitas Ortega Chavez.

When the family moved to Marfa, she attended Blackwell School and graduated from Marfa High School.  She was employed by Safeway. On October 21, 1961, she married her “High School Sweetheart”, Gilbert Miller.  The couple moved to Odessa where they raised three Wonderful children, Gilbert Jr., Yvette and Myra. Juanita was a Full-time, compassionate Domestic Engineer, a Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.  She loved traveling and visited such far-away places as Australia, Spain, Shafter, Washington DC, and Las Vegas. Juanita was a devout Catholic and was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Odessa. In 1985, Juanita suffered a stroke which left her wheelchair bound. Despite her disability, she never lost her radiant smile, sense of humor and strong love for her family.  She adored her husband and missed him dearly after his passing in 2004. Juanita’s strong love for her grandchildren and later on great-grandchildren Jace, Jamauri, and Marli Rae gave her the will to keep her world bright.  She continued to enjoy life. She even managed some trips to Las Vegas and Cancun with her children.  She loved a parade, especially the Marfa Lights Parade.  She loved Gilbert’s and Yvette’s menudo.  She enjoyed going out to the mall, concerts, going for caldo and Rosa’s chile verde con carne. Juanita will be greatly missed, but the memories will give us comfort.

Juanita is survived by a son: Gilbert Miller Jr.; daughters: Yvette Rodriguez and husband Simon, and Myra Miller and husband Michael Abila; grandchildren: Steven Rodriguez and wife Jacqui, Tarah Rodriguez and Jerred Rodriguez, Jace Wyatt Abila; great-grandchildren: Jamauri and Marli Rae Guyton, all of Odessa; brothers: Epolito Chavez of Marfa, Jesse Chavez and wife Susan of Poolville; a nephew: Justin Chavez and wife Carrie of Crowley; and a niece: Jessalyn Chavez of Poolville.

The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 1 to 9 pm. Rosary will be recited on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 7:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Esteban Sescon. Interment will follow at Merced Cemetery in Marfa, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Betty Adcock  Betty S Adcock
Betty Sue (Lambright) Adcock

Betty Sue (Lambright) Adcock, age 65, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born in Athens, TX to the late Granville “Shortie” and Mary Lou (Looney) Lambright.

Betty, who was also known as “Mom”, “Grandma”, and “Grandma Betty Boop”, was an adventurous woman who loved traveling and enjoyed being outside. She treasured heading to the mountains and going fishing. Betty had a green thumb, and she took pride in her garden. Gambling was something she liked to do occasionally, Betty loved those slot machines. She was a huge family woman, and she adored her grandchildren, spending as much time with them as possible. She will be loved and missed dearly.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are son: James and wife Melissa Adcock, of Odessa; daughters: Robbie and husband Greg Ash, of Odessa, and Rhonda and husband Jerry Carter, of Odessa; brothers: David and Michael Lambright, both of Odessa; sisters: Shirley McKinney, of Odessa, and Hazel and husband Jimmy Elder, of Odessa; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard Pasley; brother: Sonny Lambright; sister: Audrey Neal; and granddaughter: Hayley Adcock.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am, Monday, May 18, 2015 at Odessa First Church of the Nazarene, officiated by Pastor Andrew Arp. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

James Darrell “Pa” Springfield

James Darrell “Pa” Springfield, age 79, of Odessa, passed away at his residence in Odessa. He was born in Ackerly, TX on Sunday, April 12, 1936 to the late Barney Otis and Neva Mattie (King) Springfield. James proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

James Darrell “Barney” was an active, adventurous man who enjoyed gold prospecting. His passion was mules and covered wagons, which he loved to take out on the trails and ride. Barney was a mule skinner, and it was something that he really enjoyed being a part of. A tinkerer, Barney could be found spending a lot of time fixing a whole lot of everything. He could always figure out a way to fix what was broken. After Barney was discharged from the Navy, he hitchhiked from California to Texas, where he began working at General Tire in 1961. Barney had met the love of his life, Ellen Blanchard, at Roy’s Drive-In in Odessa, and joined each other in holy matrimony in 1961. Barney retained his employment at General Tire until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed gardening very much. Barney was a little man with a big heart, compassionate with no bounds. He will be loved and missed dearly.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are wife: Ellen (Blanchard) Springfield, of Odessa; son: Kenny and wife Kris Springfield, of Plano, TX; daughter: Lorri Springfield-Petty and husband Jay, of Odessa; sisters: Joyce and husband Kenneth Orr, of Big Spring, TX, Dean and husband Bill Blankenship, of Snyder, and Dawn Springfield, of Lewisville, TX; grandchildren: Jacob, Kathryn, and Matthew Springfield, all of Plano, Courtnee Springfield and husband Tim Pearson, and Tana and Calvin Petty, all of Odessa; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will have a celebration of life at the family home on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

Patricia Lee Moore

Patricia Lee Moore, 63, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in Odessa, Texas. She was born in Loraine, Texas to Alton and Ada (Collier) Thompson. She married Joel David Moore on April 7, 1974 at Eastside Baptist and they were together for 41 years.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband:  David Moore of Odessa; son: Joel Moore of Odessa, Texas; daughters: Stormy Evans of Everett, Washington and Tiffany Martin of Odessa, Texas; sister: Betty Zellner of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and grandchildren: Justin Evans and Bre Anna Wesson of Everett, Washington, and Samantha Moore and Sarah Martin of Odessa, Texas

She is preceded in death by her sister Judy Thompson.

Memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Jeff Cleere .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Cooks Children’s Hospital 4405 River Oaks Blvd. Ft. Worth, Texas 76114.

Christopher Allen “Chris” Menzl

On May 18, 2015, Christopher Allen “Chris” Menzl, age 33, of Andrews, TX made his journey to his heavenly home.  Chris was one of two children born to Andre Robert and Terrie Sue (McIntyre) Menzl.  He was born in Lubbock, TX on June 7, 1981.  He worked as a packer hand in the oilfield.

Those left to cherish his memory are his father:  Andy Menzl of Bettendorf, IA; mother:  Terrie Kersch of Odessa; maternal grandmother:  Betty McIntyre of Andrews; paternal grandmother:  René Menzl of Davenport, IA; two sons:  Aric Menzl of Crane and Damon Menzl of Andrews; three other children whom he cared for as his own:  Adam, Nia, and Josh Allen of Connecticut; two brothers:  Andrew Menzl of Bettendorf, IA and James Kersch of Odessa; sister:  Angela Menzl of Odessa; and girlfriend:  Stacey Allen.   

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather:  Willie D. McIntyre; paternal grandfather:  Fred J. Menzl; and beloved uncle:  Jerry McIntyre.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 25, 2015 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm.  At 2:00 pm, Funeral Services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Glenn Hammack.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. Barbara Jean Mosley

Barbara Jean Mosley, age 73, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.  Barbara was born in Oxnard, CA on Saturday, May 2, 1942 to the late Elton and Goldie Mae (Baxter) Nixon.  She married M. D. “Mo” Mosley in Monahans, TX on January 27, 1960 and proceeded to make their house a home.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed gardening and loved animals.  Barbara was a people person who lit up the lives of those around her.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Mo Mosley of Odessa; sons:  Doug Mosley and wife Ellen and Lance Mosley and wife Christie, all of Odessa; daughter:  Janette Clair and husband Bob of Dallas; brother:  Jeff Largent of Breckenridge; four sisters:  Judith Farmer of Weatherford, Pat Warden of Ramona, CA, Glenna Jackson of Breckenridge, and Debbie Bridges of Graham; four grandchildren:  Alexandria Clair, Megan Clark, Jeriami St. Clair, and Jo Ellen Heredia; and four great-grandchildren:  Chloe, Makenzie, Gabby, and Caleb.

Memorial services will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:00 am, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Johnny Rosales
Juan (Johnny) Rosales

Juan (Johnny) Rosales, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital. Johnny was born in Iraan, Texas on August 30, 1955. He married Denia Voorhies on November 17, 1989.

During Johnny’s life, he enjoyed meeting new people.  He never met a stranger.  He loved the outdoors and being at the lake and fishing.  He had the pleasure of being the equipment manager of the Roughnecks for a time. He was a very loving and caring father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Maria (Moreno) Rosales.

He is survived by his wife Denia Rosales; two sons Michael Thomas Voorhies (Ashleigh Lorenz) and Jonathan Robert Rosales (Megan Ruiz) along with one daughter Codee Nicolle Rosales (Jesus Hernandez); seven grandchildren Madison, Aiden, Leo, Deegan, Matthew, Aspen, and Kayden; sister Mary Abalos and husband Lasaro Abalos; two nephews Lasaro Abalos Jr. and wife Kelly, Layo Abalos and wife Claudia; and niece Leslie Martinez and husband Angel; five great-nieces Emily, Miranda, Brianna, Madilyn, and Lilly; two great-nephews Jo Alex and Benjamin; and lifelong best friends Henry Lopez and Lori Anderson.

The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM, at Acres West Funeral Chapel 8115 W. University Blvd Odessa, TX 79764, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens 6801 Hwy 80 (Business 20). Eugene Geno Mendoza
Eugene Adam "Geno" Mendoza

Eugene Adam Mendoza, age 41, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona due to a motorcycle accident. He was born in Odessa, Texas on January 16, 1974 to Julian Mendoza and Aida DeAnda Mendoza.

Geno loved to go riding and his favorite pastimes were fishing and hanging out.  He loved spending time with family and friends.  A hard worker, he would work sun up to sun down with no complaints. 

Those left to cherish his love and memories are father: Julian Mendoza; grandmothers: Enedina DeAnda and Minnie Saenz; and son: Geno Ray Mendoza, all of Odessa; daughter: Bridget Mendoza of El Paso; brothers: Albert Mendoza, Eric Mendoza and wife Daisy, Victor Mendoza, Manuel Saenz, and Anthony Mendoza, all of Odessa; sister:  Minnie Mendoza of Odessa; and grandson:  Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his mother:  Aida DeAnda Mendoza, and grandpa:  Luis DeAnda.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 10, 2015.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Father Joe Uecker.
