Consuelo Rodriguez Renteria

Consuelo Rodriguez Renteria, age 38, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Odessa Regional Medical Center. She was born in Ft. Stockton on Sunday, January 15, 1978 to Ricardo and Alma Rosa (Modesto) Rodriguez. She was a graduate of Odessa High School and a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Ricardo Renteria; mother: Alma Rodriguez; three sons: Ricardo and wife Jo Marie Renteria, Noel Renteria and Esteban Renteria; daughter: Sophie Isabel; three brothers: Felix and wife Araceli Rodriguez, Ricardo and wife Virginia Rodriguez and Rene and wife Amanda Rodriguez; sister: Ruby and husband Samuel Hinojos; one grandchild: Adilynn Isabella Renteria, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter: Estrella Renteria and father: Ricardo Rodriguez.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Monday, February 8, 2016 at Iglesia del Camino, officiated by Pastor Humberto Porras. Burial will follow at the Peaceful Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Our little angel, Evelina Jimenez Hernandez was born and whisked away to the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her parents: Edmundo Jimenez and Cecia Hernandez of Odessa, TX; one brother: Exekiel Jimenez and numerous cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 am, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Los Angeles section of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Humberto Hernandez.

Lequietta Barnhart
Lequietta “Quietta” Joy Barnhart

Lequietta “Quietta” Joy Barnhart, 71, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born April 13, 1944 in Odessa to Elmer and Mildred Maxine (Coffey) Dowling.  She was a homemaker. 

Quietta is survived by her husband, Royce Barnhart of Odessa; son, Randy McDorman of Odessa; daughters, Cindy Woods of Corpus Christi and Brenda Huffty of Odessa; sister, Patricia Kennedy of Odessa; grandson, Kevin McDorman of Dallas; and niece, Denise Farr of Midland. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Hopkins; and sister, Nita Fay Palmar. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 4 – 8 PM at Acres West Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be Friday, February 12, 2016 at 3 PM at Acres West with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

William Wall
William (W.D.) Dolphus Wall

William (W.D.) Dolphus Wall, age 94, of Odessa, TX, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 8, 2016.

He was born in Elgin, Kansas on October 19, 1921 to the late William Nelson and Grace (McKee) Wall. His family moved to Nowata, Oklahoma in 1933. He joined the Army in 1940 and was stationed in Panama. In 1944, his second tour he was in Patton’s Third army, 10th armored division, landing in Cherbourg France into Germany for the first days of the Battle of the Bulge. Following WWII, he was in the Army Reserves. Upon returning to Nowata he met Melva Fry. They married April 13, 1946 and moved to Kermit, Texas. In 1950 he was called back into the army and sent to Korea. In 1952 he was working the oilfields of West Texas. He worked for Jackson Rental Tools in Kermit and retired from NL Industries in Odessa in 1985.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his four daughters: Linda McCormick of Odessa, TX, Janice Palmer and husband Larry of Odessa, TX, Krysta Brooks and Cheryl Wall, both of Midland, TX; grandchildren: James McCormick Jr and wife Jennifer of Palestine, TX, John McCormick of Plano, TX, Tina Bowlby of Brewerton, NY, Tara Anderson and husband Chad of Midland, TX, Christopher King and wife Vanessa of Midland, TX, Justin King and wife Kindra of Midland, TX, Airman 1st class Ryan Richardson and wife Erin of Yigo Guam, Logan Richardson of Lubbock, TX, Greg Palmer of Burleson, TX and Michelle Palmer Bailey and husband Paul of Odessa, TX. Expanding the family were his great-grandchildren: Caitlin and Kortney McCormick, Kayla Matthews, Camryn McCormick, Hannah Anderson, Jacob Palmer, Joslyn Bowlby, Brandon Bowlby, Ryker, Rylee, Aydin and Kyra King, Stetson and Destiny King, Zachary Bailey and wife Tara, Kyleigh Bailey-Gorrell and husband Ben and great-great grandchildren Vaughn, Tyler and Nikole Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents: W.N. and Grace Wall; two brothers: James Isaac Wall and Howard Nelson Wall; great-grandson: Brayden Ramsey King and wife: Melva Lavon Wall, whom he will be laid to rest beside.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, February 12, 2016 at New Dawn Fellowship, 4803 Plaza Blvd, Bldg 1, Odessa, TX 79762, officiated by Wally Schiwart. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Kermit Cemetery at 2:30 pm in Kermit, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, W.D. asked that memorials be made to New Dawn Fellowship at the address above.

Pallbearers will be: James McCormick, John McCormick, Chris King, Justin King, Logan Richardson, Chad Anderson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Stetson King, Greg Palmer, Ryan Richardson, Ryker King, Aydin King and Paul Bailey.

Floye was the 2nd child of 5 girls born to Albert & Mary Horton Alma OK, on November 16, 1939. She married Lee Gilbow Lubbock TX 12-17-57. She was a beloved Mother of 5 children.
Someone once said what did you do with your dash ? That little mark on your headstone between birth & death. She spent her life wearing many hats serving the Lord, caring for others, Waitress, Custodian, Shoe Store Manager, Wife, Mother, sometimes helping her husband in his Machine Shop. She was a Jack of all trades & Master of none save 1 in our opinion. She mastered that dash all things considered.

She is preceded in death by her parents Albert & Mary Horton, step father Floyd Morgan, sister Jaunitha Williams, and her son Robert Gilbow.

She is survived by husband Lee Gilbow, children, LeEtta (Rodney) Martinsen, Frank (Letty) Gilbow, Kellye (John) Stuart, & Glen Gilbow , grand-daughters LeEtta Baker, Hailey (Chuck) Alfano, Nikki (Jeremiah) Hipol, Suzanna (Brook) Eden & seven great-grand children, and three sisters Patsy Morgan, Charline Fortenberry, & Kathy Shegrengost.

Anthony “Tony” Patrick Wooten

Anthony “Tony” Patrick Wooten, age 44, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. He was born in El Paso, TX on June 9, 1971 to Bill and Sherry (Patterson) Wooten. He worked in construction.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his father: Bill Wooten and wife Robin of Odessa, TX; brother: Thomas Gene Wooten of Odessa, TX; three sisters: Angel Akhtar of Alpharetta, GA, Dayna Nicholson of Virginia and Mindy McNeal of Bay Cliff, TX.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Sherry Patterson and a sister:  Sherry Woods.

Memorial services will be 6:30 pm, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Faith Temple Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Donny Kyker. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Alicia Elena Romero

Alicia Elena Romero, age 74, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Thursday, February 11, 2016.  She was born in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico on Saturday, May 10, 1941 to the late Alejandro and Juana (Portillo) Dominguez. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her two sons: Manuel and Alejandro Romero, both of California; three daughters: Sandra E. Casas of Odessa, and Ana Isabel Munoz and Sylvia Gonzales, both of California; five grandchildren: Arianne Sanchez, Nidia Romero, Walter Stancampiano, Rodolfo Munoz and JoAnna Romero, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Alejandro and Juana Dominguez, and her husband.

In her last moments, she was cared for by her granddaughter Nidia Romero.

Services will be at a later date in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico and burial will follow at Jardines de Fatima. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria Delicias in Delcicias, Mexico.

Maria Dolores Vasquez

Maria Dolores Vasquez, 57, of Odessa, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born June 6, 1958 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Armando and Ramona (Roman) Salgado.  She was a homemaker and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ramona Salgado; and sister, Yolanda Salgado. 

Maria is survived by her husband, Ruben Vasquez of Odessa; son, Joshua Salgado and wife Norma of NC; daughter, Ashley Vasquez-Sollars and husband William of Odessa; father, Armando Salgado of Rocky Ford, CO; and brother, Leonard Salgado of Greely, CO. 

The Rosary will be recited Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 7 PM at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 1 PM at the funeral home with Fr. Fernando Bonilla officiating. Burial will follow at the Peaceful Gardens section of the Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Joseph Cervantes, age 31, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life unexpectedly on Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was born in Odessa, TX on Tuesday, December 25, 1984 to Gonsalo and Ruby Marquez (Rivera) Cervantes.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his son: Xavier Cervantes of Odessa, TX; spouse: Argentina Martinez of Odessa, TX; parents: Bernardo and Ruby Marquez of Odessa, TX; maternal grandmother: Mary Rivera of Odessa. TX; paternal grandparents: Bernardo and Jovita Marquez of Odessa, TX and Gonsalo Cervantes Sr. of Bakersfield. CA; five brothers: Nicky Larez, Francisco Larez, Marcos Cervantes of San Antonio, Luke david Marquez, and Isaac Marquez of Oklahoma; two sisters: Angela Larez of Ft. Worth, TX and Martha Marquez of Austin, TX.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Federico Rivera; paternal grandmother: Maria Cervantes; brothers: Bernardo (BJ) Marquez III and Israel Cervantes.

Rosary will be 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Acres West 24 Hour Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 19, 2016, officiated by Father David Herrera. Burial will follow at the Peaceful Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

The Lord took Bobbie Gail Keefer, age 81, of Odessa home to be with her Heavenly family on Monday, February 15, 2016.  She was born in Cottondale, FL on February 9, 1935 to the late Acie Goldbridge and Lulubell (Ketechum) Peacock.  She was a nurse’s aide at the Big Spring State Hospital for 20 years and worked nights as a manager at Denny’s for 23 years.

A Pentecostal, Gail was a wonderful lady who loved animals.  She was fiercely independent and loved to shop.  JC Penny and Mervyns were her favorite stores.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her son:  Rudolph “Rudy” Harold Norwood, Jr. of Odessa; daughter:  Susan Courtney of Gainesville, FL; sisters:  Evelyn Sapp and Faye Harrod, both of Tallahassee, FL; three grandchildren:  Lisa Heffington of Tow, TX, and Lynn Dunivan and Jason Heffington, both of Odessa; four great-grandchildren:  J. P. Heffington, Melinda Asewicz, Miranda Burton, and Marissa Norcross; three great-great grandchildren:  Evan Burton, Brinley Flick, and Oliver Thomas; and numerous extended family members.

Gail rejoined her parents, her ex-husband:  Rudolph Harold Norwood, Sr.; daughter:  Debra Kay Wheeler; and a sister:  Velma Cole, in their Heavenly home.  This is a bittersweet time, for as the Lord ushered Gail home, we welcomed to our earthly family her new great-great grandson:  Oliver Thomas Asewicz.  “I will forever love you, Mom.” - Rudy

David L Hinson
David Lee Hinson

David Lee Hinson, of Gardendale, TX, went to be with his Lord on February 16, 2016. He was 67, and he passed at Medical Center Hospital after a long illness. David was born, December 19, 1948 in Graham, Texas to Betty Jean Moring, and Lenard Lee Hinson.

David grew up in Odessa, and attended Permian High School. He entered the Navy in 1969, and served until 1973. He married Gayla Ann Giles June 19, 1976, and they remained married until September, 1985. At the age of six, David began taking piano lessons, and that became his lifelong passion. He played the piano and sang in the choir of several churches over his lifetime, and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Gardendale. David collected sheet music, and loved to research family genealogy. He also volunteered at the Odessa Globe Theater, and the Permian Playhouse.

David is survived by his father, Lenard Lee Hinson of Abilene, TX, five sisters; Elaine Lee August of Dover, Delaware, Cheryl Lynn Hinson of Definiak Springs, Fl, Nancy Sue Matthews of Odessa, TX, Connie Jean Eicher of Gardendale, TX, Lora Leah Hinson of Abilene, TX, one brother, Michael Len Hinson of Springtown, TX, and one step-sister, Connie Dilynn Boehm.

David was predeceased by his mother, Betty Jean Moring, on October 13, 1990, and his step-mom, Gloria Marie Hinson, on September 27, 2008.

Services will be held at First Southern Baptist Church, 6849 Goldenrod, Gardendale, TX, on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 2:00 pm. Pastor Terry Easely will officiate. Memorial donations can be sent to Star Hospice, 820 N. Grant Avenue, Suite 100, in Odessa, TX, 79761.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Jack W Shelton Sr
Jack William Shelton, Sr.

Jack William Shelton, Sr. age 85, of Odessa departed this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital.  He began his earthly journey in Pampa, TX on June 24, 1930, born to the late Cecil Worton Shelton and Mary (Hemmer) Shelton.  Jack married Mary Beth Wetherington in Valdosta, GA in 1958.  He was a US Air Force Veteran.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his sons:  Jack W. Shelton, Jr. and wife Tanya of Bastrop and Henry W. Shelton of Odessa; daughter:  Carol Renee Lisenbe and husband Roscoe of Temple and seven grandchildren: Colby Shelton of Longview, Kyle Shelton and wife MacKenzie of Shelbyville, Garrett Wetsel and Jase Shelton, both of Bastrop, Heather Meyer and husband Jimmy, Sarah Lisenbe, and Tyler Lisenbe, all of Temple; as well as six great-grandchildren: Tucker, Noah, and Layla Shelton, Gavin Wetsel, Ian and Reagan Meyer.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth on August 19, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Mary Shelton; one brother, Mack Shelton; and one sister, Mary Jo Bessett.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery with Pastor Lyndel Lee officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
