Tammy Shaleen Tovar

Tammy Shaleen Tovar, age 45, of Brady, TX, passed from this life at her residence and began her life in Heaven on Thursday, February 25, 2016. She was born in Bakersfield, CA on Monday, July 6, 1970 to Michael and Susan (Lindsey) Henson. She was a restaurant manager.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband Wes Huckins of Brady, TX; mother: Susan Redfern and husband Glen of Bakersfield. Ca; father: Michael Henson of Salisaw, OK; two sons: Bradley Tovar of Los Angeles, CA and Cody Huckins of Brady, TX; six daughters: Kristen Huckins and spouse Caleb of Brownwood, TX, Susan Steadham and husband Bobby of Odessa, TX, Chelsie Bigelow of Beaverton, OR, Cheyeanne Huckins of Brady, TX, Amanda Huckins and spouse Matthew Griffith of Brady, TX and Melody Patten and husband Dylan of London, TX; two brothers: Michael Henson of Tulsa, OK and Levi Henson of Waco, TX; two sisters: Amy Henson and husband Brian of Sand Springs, OK and Jaclyn Hawkins and husband Chuck of Bakersfield, CA and five grandchildren: Aiden Huckins, Emily Dren, Elizabeth Steadham, Sophia Steadham and Alice Patten.

Services will be held privately by the family at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Coy Mae Anthony

Coy Mae Anthony, 83, of Midland, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born May 3, 1932 in Weatherford, TX to Wayne Clifford and Emma Love Rutlidge (Morris). 

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Dee Dewayne Strickland. 

Coy is survived by her sons, Olen Travis Reese of Abilene, and Donnie Sims of Omaha, NE; daughter, Lois Love Reese of Odessa; brother, Donald Ray Scherer of Orange County, CA; sisters, Linda Pearl Howard of O’Neal, NE and Kay Francis Cline of Grant Pass, OR; 9 grandchildren, April Sims, Charles Sims, Charity Sims, Amanda Smith, Donnie Sims, Tommie Sims, Brittney Sims, Travis Reese, and John Reese; 16 great grandchildren, Tracey Sims, Steffanie Sims, Tori Sims, Ethan Jones, Alex Sims Butler, Zack Sims Butler, Lizzie Sims Butler, Mia Yanez, Cali Yanez, James Borland, Victorya Baldwin, Merissa Sims, Jamie Sims, Jayden Sims, Tyler Reese, and Trevor Reese; and 5 great-great grandchildren, Sophia Tudon, Felix Tudon, Arabella Seals, Bralynn Seals, Tylor Reese, and one on the way whose name will be Alijah Juarez.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at West Kentucky Baptist Church in Midland with Bro. Bob Porterfield officiating.  

Gil Cerros Sanchez

Gil Cerros Sanchez, age 84, of Odessa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 26, 2016 in Odessa.  He was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on April 6, 1931to Leonardo and Leonor (Sanchez) Cerros.  He married Tomasita Gutierrez and they enjoyed 69 years together.  He worked as a ranch hand.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his devoted wife:  Tomasita Cerros; two sons:  Horacio Jurado and Gil Cerros; daughters:  Viola Hernandez, Claudia Elizondo, Moraima Herrera, Luz Gutierrez, Silva Gomez and Rosy Cerros; and numerous additional extended family members.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Odessa Garden 2 of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Maria Cruz Mendoza

Maria Cruz Mendoza, age 72, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Sunday, February 28, 2016.  She was born in Del Rio, TX on September 28, 1943 to the late Juan and Anita (Galindo) Cruz.  She was a laundry attendant.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband:  Maximino Mendoza of Odessa; sons:  Max Mendoza of Jourdanton, TX and James Mendoza and wife Toni of Little Elm, TX; daughters:  Anita Chalambaga and husband Gilbert and Hilvia M. Garcia and husband Tony, all of Odessa; brother:  Osvaldo “Chico” Cruz and wife Lupe of San Antonio; grandchildren:  Steven Mendoza, Maxie Mendoza, Brandon Mendoza, Priscilla Mendoza, Gilbert Mendoza, Christopher Mendoza, Clint Mendoza, Kristen D. Gilmore and husband Josh, Jimmy Mendoza and wife Ashley, Mary C. Puga and husband Charles, Tina M. Switzer and husband Randall, and Hilvia M. Garcia and husband Tony; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in death by one brother and six sisters.

Services will be privately held.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Martin Munoz Galindo

Martin Munoz Galindo, age 50, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Sienna Nursing Home on Sunday, February 28, 2016. He was born in Odessa, TX on Sunday, May 16, 1965 to Jesse Duarte and Maria Louise (Munoz) Galindo. He married Maribel Galindo on March 1, 2001 and they enjoyed 15 years together.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: John Orosco of Odessa, TX; two daughters: Cassandra Orosco of Odessa, TX and Samantha Orosco of Abilene, TX; three brothers: David Galindo, Danny Galindo and Jesse Galindo Jr., all of Odessa, TX; three sisters: Belinda Landaverde of Dallas, TX, Esmerelda Castillo and Aadela Galindo, both of Odessa, TX and five grandchildren: Nikolas Barrios, Elias Barrios, Javen Orosco, Jaden Orosco and Daymian Huber.

Prayer service will be 7:00 pm, Monday, February 29, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Manuel R. Levario 
Manuel Ramirez Levario “Baby”

Manuel Ramirez Levario “Baby”, age 47, of Odessa passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Sunday, February 28, 2016.  He was born in El Paso on December 26, 1968 to Ines Manuel T. Levario and Consuelo Ramirez de Levario.  He was a radiologic technician for about 20 years and loved his job.  He had worked very hard to complete his internship and obtain his license.

Manuel loved to shoot and was an NRA supporter.  Always up for a change, he had a large variety of interests and was always on the move.  He loved to travel and camp with friends and would say that the best therapy was laughter.  Manuel enjoyed making model cars and planes, as well as painting and art. He was always there for his friends and his family.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his parents:  Consuelo and Manuel Levario; daughter:  Victoria Levario; brothers:  Saul Levario and Angel Levario and wife Maria Beltran-Levario; sister:  Lupe Levario and husband Manuel Bustamante; grandson:  Adriel Navarrete; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Odessa.

Visitation at the funeral home will begin Monday, March 7, 2016 at noon. Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel, officiated by Father Joe Uecker.

Vernon Tobias
Vernon Ray (Toby) Tobias

Vernon Ray (Toby) Tobias, age 71, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, February 29, 2016. He was born in Houston, TX on Sunday, October 8, 1944 to the late James Vernon Tobias and Ruby (Watters) Voyles. He met Dianne Womack in 1993 and they married March 17, 2006.  He was a loving husband and excellent step dad.

Toby was an ornery fella and a cowboy through and through.  His passion was team roping and he could rope and ride from an early age.  In his younger days, he was more often on a horse than in a car.    He worked as a coast to coast truck driver and was a veteran of the US Army.  Toby’s tough exterior covered a very tender heart, and he was easily moved to tears.  He loved the Lord and the Cowboy Church.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Dianne Tobias of Odessa and step-daughter: Renee Bunn of Ozark, Alabama.

In addition to his parents, Toby was preceded in death by his step-son: William “Bill” Cale; and sister: Mary Sue Mingus.

Visitation will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 10 am to 12 noon.  Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Peggy L Patton
Peggy Lavonia Patton

Peggy Lavonia Patton, age 75, of Odessa, passed away at Seabury Center in Odessa on Wednesday, March 2, 2016.  She was born on October 25, 1940 in Mississippi to the late Douglas Hartwell Skipper and Gertrude Skipper.  Peggy loved her family more than anything.

For many years, Peggy worked as a unit secretary at Medical Center Hospital and later at Odessa Women’s and Children’s Hospital.  Peggy greatly enjoyed the residents and staff at the Seabury home.  She loved to participate in the activities there, including Bingo and Bible study.  At an early age, Peggy learned Spanish fluently and used this skill to communicate with the Hispanic residents and staff.  She was their self -appointed welcoming committee and she would write daily scriptures and words of encouragement for residents.  She would also handcraft personal birthday cards for friends and family, fellow residents, and Seabury staff.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands:  first husband Paul Nelson Allen and second husband William Hause.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter:  Paula Eastman and husband Darrell of Odessa; two sisters:  Alice Skipper of Bedford, TX and Bonnie Allen and husband Leonard of Cornville, AZ; four grandchildren:  Angela Hunt and husband Bryant of San Antonio, Heather Villarreal and husband Edmundo of Katy, Matthew Brooks of Odessa and Ryan Eastman and wife Kelly of Holliday; and two great-grandchildren:  Samantha Hunt and Silas Villarreal; as well as several beloved extended family members and numerous loving friends.  A special thanks goes to Alan Hause and wife Melanie, Andy Hause, Adam Hause, and Amy Garcia and husband Jose.  She also leaves behind her beloved dog, “Earth Angel.”

The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to Home Hospice and to all of the residents and staff of Seabury, who became her second family, especially to Colleen Smith, who was by her side like a second daughter.

Matthew 5:12 “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven.”

Celebration of Life services will be held at Crossroads Fellowship Church, Room #1135 on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 3:00 pm.

Shirley Ann Turnell, age 66, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Odessa, TX on Wednesday April 6, 1949 to the lateHoward Alfred and Lela Palestine (Mitchell) Turnell. She married Dale McCown and they enjoyed 30 years together. She was a cashier.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her two sons: Troy Bodwell of Odessa, TX and Benjamin Taylor of Fritch, TX; two daughters: Carol Lee of Arlington, TX and Terrie Jolene Taylor; two sisters: Sheila Perez and Debra Taylor, both of Odessa, TX; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Kenneth and Chester Spencer and sisters: Daphane Brown and Betty Moyer.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, March 4, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Dewey Blevins. Burial will follow at the Peaceful Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Theresa “Lil Bit” Braun, age 56, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Odessa Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. She was born in Ruidoso, NM on Saturday, June 13, 1959 to the late Bill and Bertha (Flores) Kluting. She was a caregiver.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: William Jeffrey Kluting and wife Crystal of Odessa, TX; brother: Bill Kluting and wife Cindy of Peoria, AZ; four grandchildren: Jasmine Stevens, Mikayla Stevens, Erika Stevens and Nicholas Kluting, as well as Brothers and Sisters from The Last Few and many other beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Gary Braun and son: Jon Wayne Stevens.
