Vivian Kay Wilson
Vivian “Kay” Wilson

Vivian “Kay” Wilson left this earth on March 21, 2016 to sing with the angels and reunite with her parents. Herman and Wanda Hamilton were blessed with a spirited, beautiful daughter on August 17, 1948 in Lamesa, TX. She was an only child and was lovingly doted on by her parents. Kay graduated from Monahans High School and attended beauty school in Odessa, TX. As the natural progression goes, she married and had 3 children and raised them in Sheffield and Iraan, TX.

Being a hairdresser was her passion and calling. She loved her clients and became known to them as KK, a name given to her by a sweet, young boy, Hilton Goff whom she is rejoicing with in heaven. Even though she met the love of her life and moved to Odessa, Kay continued to do hair in Iraan. By that time, her clients had become family and she refused to leave them. Kay was gifted with the ability to sing and play the piano. She enriched many lives by sharing her gift.

Her adoring parents, Herman and Wanda Hamilton, preceded her in death.

Kay leaves behind her love of 20 years, Ben Granger and her three children and families: Russell “Scooter” Harris (Kasey Clayton), Melinda “Sissy” Boshears (Jerry “Bo”) and last, but not least Melanie Wilson. She reluctantly left behind her 5 grandchildren: Jaden and Kemri Bertelson, Khera Wilson (Joseph Antillon), Bradley Cantu, and Baylor Wilson, and two great-granddaughters, Khloe Antillon and Bayah Cantu. She also leaves behind Stacy DeHaven (Colby) and Victoria Escalante (Juan) of Dallas and their children: Alex and Briel DeHaven and Joaquin and Leonardo Escalante. A great loss will be felt in the community of Iraan because of the people she loved there.

A hairdresser’s prayer…

Oh Lord, continue to anoint my hands with care and bless me daily as I cut hair. Continue to remind me that in your image I was made and work is more than doing cut, color or fade. It is still a place where I can glorify you in everything that I do. Lord, help me not to be just a hairdresser, but an example of you and let your love and patience shine through me too. And when the scissors have finally been put away, let me have made a difference in someone’s day.
