Elpidia Rios de Zubia

Elpidia Rios de Zubia, age 55, of Odessa, passed away in Odessa at Medical Center Hospital on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.  She was born in Maijoma, Chihuahua, Mexico on Wednesday, November 16, 1960 to Antonio Rios and Magdalena Lona.  She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband:  Rene Zubia; her parents:  Antonio Rios and Magdalena Lona; son:  Rene Zubia Jr.; and daughter:  Yulissa Zubia, all of Odessa.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Friday evening, March 25, 2016 at 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be at a later date with interment to follow at Maijoma Cemetery in Maijoma, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria de Valle in Mexico. 

James L Steffey
James Larry Steffey

James Larry Steffey, age 47, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at his residence on Thursday, March 24, 2016. He was born in Odessa, TX on Wednesday, March 12, 1969 to the late James and Judy (Dooley) Steffey.  He was a 1987 graduate of Odessa High School.  James was a proud Veteran of the US Marine Corps.  Some of his decorations or awards included a Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Mast, National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his brother: Jason Steffey and sister: Tammy Casseday and husband Brad of Sidney, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Judy (Dooley) Steffey.

Memorial services with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Mike Bartlett. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Elena Mireles de Lozano

Elena Mireles de Lozano, age 86, of Odessa, passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 26, 2016. She was born in Morenci, AZ on November 12, 1929 to the late Urbano and Berardina (Castañon) Mireles.  She was a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Martiniano Lozano.

She is survived by her children, five sons and four daughters, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at a later date with interment to follow at Jardines de San Jose in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria de Valle in Ojinaga.

Linda Diane Swink

Linda Diane Swink, age 54, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Saturday, March 26, 2016.  She was born in Hobbs, NM on May 11, 1961 to Wendell and Dorothy T. (Blackman) Guthrie.  She worked as a waitress.

Linda is survived by her daughters:  Daylan Guthrie and Angel Young, both of Odessa; brother:  Wendell Guthrie, Jr. of Brownwood; and six grandchildren.

Her parents and her baby girl, Deanna, precede her in death.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Linda Kay Tidwell

Linda Kay Tidwell, age 73, passed from this life in Odessa on Monday, March 28, 2016. She was born on Friday, August 21, 1942 in Kermit, TX to James Edward and Grace Marie (Roundtree) Tidwell. She was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her three brothers: Kenneth Edward Tidwell of Andrews, TX, Donald L. Tidwell of Bedford, TX and Noble Glenn “Teddy” Tidwell of Odessa, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: James Edward and Grace Marie (Roundtree) Tidwell; three brothers: Bobby, Billy and Wayne and two sisters: Doris and Nita.

Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the SPCA.

Socorro Corrales de Rodriguez, age 65, of Odessa, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 27, 2016.  She was born in Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico on May 27, 1950 to the late Jose de la Luz Corrales and Maria Angela (Carrasco) Corrales.  She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Jesus Rodriguez, four sons, one daughter, and numerous siblings and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at a later date in Mexico with interment to follow at Panteon Canada Ancha in Ejido Canada Ancha, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and to Funeraria de Valle in Ojinaga.

Floyd Benjamin  Floyd L Benjamin
Floyd Leonard Benjamin

Floyd Leonard Benjamin, age 83, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at his residence on Sunday, March 27, 2016. He was born in Halcot Center, NY on Tuesday, January 23, 1933.  He was a retired veteran of the US Marine Corps.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his two daughters: Melissa Fuentes and husband Juan of Odessa, TX and Shannon Boote of San Antonio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter:  Linda Gramling.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Buster Bruce Trout

Buster Bruce Trout, 81 was born on September 16, 1934, in Cogar, Oklahoma and went to be with the Lord Easter Sunday, March 27th in Odessa, Texas.  His father was A.A. Trout and mother was Vedie Faulkenberry Trout.  Buster married Betty Jo Hail on October 22, 1953 in Minco, Oklahoma.  From this Union two sons were born, Steven Bruce Trout and Darrell Gene Trout.

Buster made his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma for 50 years and today they reside in Odessa, Texas.

Buster was in the oilfield from the age of 16 until he retired at the age of 64, he worked his way up from roughneck to drilling superintendent. His hobby was restoring cars and he raced stock cars for about 10 years along with hunting and fishing with his grandkids.

He's preceded in death by mother and father, 5 brothers and 3 sisters and survived by his wife Betty Trout, his sons; Steven Trout and Darrell Trout and daughter-n-laws Liz Trout and Rhonda Trout, 5 grand children, 17 great grand children, 2 great-great grand children, 1 brother, Bobby and 1 sister Lavernia.

Two Memorial services will be held for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at 2 P.M.  Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Harvest Time Church at 8300 State Highway 191, Midland, TX.  Also, a service will be held at Grand Assembly of God in Chickasha, Ok at 11:00 on Saturday, April 2nd which he was a member of for 30 years and served as deacon, treasurer, board member and greeter.

Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Robert Charles Cave

Robert Charles Cave, age 59, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Sunday, March 27, 2016. He was born in San Angelo, TX on Wednesday, October 24, 1956 to Arlon Lavughn and Mary Patricia (Myers) Cave. He worked in the oilfield.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his mother; Mary Cave of Odessa, TX; two daughters: Jennifer Derrick and Shawna Blair of Witchita Falls, TX; brother Larry Cave; sister: Sherry Little; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father: Arlon Lavaughn; sister: Kathryn Anderson and one great-grandchild Bentley.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Mike Bartlett. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Carol Ann Yates Switzer
Carol Ann (Hayes) Switzer

Carol A. Hayes Yates Switzer, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, departed this world March 28, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was 81 years old. Carol was born August 21, 1934 in Springfield, Illinois to parents Kenneth E. and Carrie Grooms Hayes. She resided in Decatur, Illinois for many years. In
1969, she married Jack D. Switzer and moved to Midland, Texas. Carol loved Texas and said she may not be a native, but got here as fast as she could.

Carol lovingly raised seven children. She was an amazing mother with never-ending patience and an understanding heart. She nurtured, encouraged, and
supported her children, instilling values and integrity. She saw the good in everyone, and people were naturally drawn to her. Her zest for life, sense of humor, and wonderful laugh were well known. Carol was brilliant in mind and spirit, artistic, outgoing, with a broad range of interests. She had a passion for family
history and genealogy, was an avid reader, gardener, hobbyist, and birdwatcher. She studied the birds of Texas, enjoying many birding expeditions with her daughter Caryn. In her younger days, she enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, and out-fished everyone. She was a champion carp fisherwoman. She loved playing indoor and outdoor games with her children and their friends at a home where everyone was welcome. Carol had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, travel, places and people. Her greatest love was her family, all of whom adored her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Switzer; her stepdaughter, Nancy New; son, Cary Yates; sister, Linda Blair; and brother William Hayes.

Carol is survived by her brother, Charles Hayes of Shelbyville, Indiana; her children: daughters, Tracy Yates of Midland and Caryn Stoner of Odessa; sons, Kenneth Yates and wife Leslie of Utah, and Kevin Yates and wife Paula, and Chris Yates and wife Cheryl, all of Midland; grandchildren, Karrie Yates, Shay Wright, Tyler Yates, Phillip Yates, Mandy Marquez, Misty Yates, Samantha Lopez, Adria Sowell, Taylor Rountree, Bailey Yates, Misty Pace, and Marissa Lovera; as well as many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carol touched many lives and will be deeply mourned and missed. A memorial service will take place at St Paul United Methodist Church in Midland on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

Reyna Abrego Rodriguez
Reyna Xochitl (Abrego) Rodriguez

Reyna Xochitl (Abrego) Rodriguez, age 41, of Andrews, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. She was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on Wednesday, March 26, 1975 to Enrique and Faride (Dominguez) Garcia. She married Abundio Pineda in April 2003.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Abundio Pineda of Andrews, TX; son: Benjamin Pineda of Andrews, TX; two sisters: Bertha A. Adame of Odessa, TX and Margie G. Reyes of Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers: Antonio Abrego Rodriguez and Ezequiel Abrego Rodriguez; mother:  Faride Dominguez Rodriguez; and father:  Enrique Garcia.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, April 1, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held at Andrews County North in Andrews, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres west Funeral Chapel.
