Aurelio Alfaro Samaguey

Aurelio Alfaro Samaguey, age 61, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. He was born in Rio Bravo Tamaulipas, Mexico on Tuesday, August 24, 1954 to Jose and Maria (Alfaro) Samaguey. He married Maria C. Martinez in Hildago, TX on November 23, 1972 and they enjoyed 44 years together. He was a derrick man for Great Basin for six years.  He was a member of Templo Bautista La Hermosa.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Maria C. Samaguey of Odessa, TX; mother: Maria Alfaro of Pecos, TX; two sons: Albert Samaguey and wife Aurelia Martinez of Odessa, TX and Jose Samaguey and wife Celena of Pecos, TX; two daughters: Veronica Natividad and husband Tomas Jr. of Odessa, TX and Cynthia Ramos and husband Rogelio Jr. of Odessa, TX; four brothers: Antonio, Pedro, Jesus, and Juan Samaguey; sister: Maria Luisa Samaguey; and thirteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father: Jose Samaguey and his sister: Maria Ventura.

Prayer services will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday April 1, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Ignacio Rubio. Burial will follow at Odessa Garden II of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Julia Evelyn Johnson

Julia Evelyn Johnson, age 87, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven at her residence on Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was born in San Angelo, TX on Wednesday, September 19, 1928 to the late John and Marguerite (Hardin) Nettleton. She was a member of First Southern Baptist of Gardendale and loved her church family very much. She was also a school teacher.

Evelyn was very opinionated, had lots of spunk and wouldn’t mind voicing her opinion. She loved to dance, play bridge and to visit Lake Buchanan. Evelyn was a school teacher in El Paso, Sanderson, Odessa, Round Rock, Rock Springs and Wink. She enjoyed teaching 4th & 5th grade the most. Her last few months she got to watch her granddaughter Trista dance and cheer, which she had wanted to do forever. She also got to hold one of the newest great-granddaughters Lilly. Evelyn got to go back to Lake Buchanan one last time to see it full, the bluebonnets and visit with longtime friends and neighbors. She enjoyed watching the various birds and cardinals were her favorite.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: David Bolinger of Odessa, TX; daughter: Brenda Hoover and husband Louie of Odessa, TX; 6 grandchildren: Dave Roff, Lauren Bolinger, Toby Kiker and wife Crystal, Staci Popp of Eunice, NM, Scott Hoover and wife Jolie of Conroe, TX and Ryan Hoover of Odessa, TX; 8 great-grandchildren: Lilly, Maisie, Trista, Kiley, Kalen, Brayden, Bailey and Eli.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Marguerite Nettleton; brother: John Nettleton; sister: Jean Welch; grandchild: Jeremy Kiker, as well as, David & Brenda’s father: Malcom Bolinger.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at First Southern Baptist Church of Gardendale, officiated by Reverend Terry Easley. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences to the family may be sent online at acreswestfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Southern Baptist Church of Gardendale General Fund.

Cecil Roy Cox
Cecil Roy Cox, age 94, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born in Waxahachie, TX on Thursday, March 23, 1922 to Jessie and Willie (Pate) Cox. He was a veteran of World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart and four Bronze Stars.

Cecil was an avid reader and would read five to six books a week. He loved to share his knowledge with others. He served in the US Air Force from 1942 until 1945 where he was awarded a purple heart. He met Ann Burch in San Angelo and they married in Carlsbad in 1952. He was a Lineman for 12 years and then went on to become a Heavy Equipment Operator on Pipe Line until the age of 85.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: Gary Cox and wife Brenda of Odessa, TX; daughter: Joann Holloway and husband Jerry of Odessa, TX; sister: Sadie Cox; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Ann Cox; parents: Jessie and Willie Cox; son: Virgil Duane Cox; brother: J.T. Cox; sisters: Clara Preas, Luberta Preas and Veda Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00, Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Larry Brewer. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Peaceful Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Michel Anntoinette Clemmer

Michel Anntoinette Clemmer, age 56, of Odessa, passed from this life unexpectedly on Friday, April 1, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Odessa, TX on Saturday, November 21, 1959 to Roman and Mary Jane (Bullard) Gaspard. She was a retired locksmith and had worked for K & B Safe and Lock as a manager for 25 years.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her mother: Mary Jane Gaspard of Odessa, TX; one son: Michael P. Clemmer of New Mexico; one brother: Ray Gaspard of Bossier City, LA; two sisters: Victoria M. Morgan of Odessa, TX and Elizabeth La Salle of New Iberia, LA; one granddaughter Hayleigh M. Clemmer of Odessa, TX; nephew:  Daniel Morgan of Odessa; niece:  Stephanie Griffin of Ft. Erwin, CA; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father: Roman Julian Gaspard and  brother: Roy Dean Gaspard.

Memorial Services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Mt. Zion Christian Church, officiated by Bro. Dewey Blevins. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Orma Cordelia Kessler

Orma Cordelia Kessler, age 75, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 at her home.  She was born in Amarillo, TX on April 21, 1940.   She owned and operated her own house cleaning business, and was a homemaker.

Orma is survived by her husband:  Larry Dean Kessler of Odessa; brothers:  Val Sapp of Odessa and Robert Harper of Aurora, CO; and seven beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents:  Mr. Phelps and Ms. Virginia Lorraine (Dunning) Hambrice, her brother:  Dennis Hambrice, and niece:  Alisha Hambrice.

Funeral services will be at 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jody Pirdle.   Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Willie Valdez Dutchover, age 77, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Deerings Nursing and Rehabilitation on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. He was born in Balmorhea, TX on Wednesday, June 15, 1938 to the late Louis and Herminia Dutchover.  He married Angelica Rodriguez in Balmorhea, TX on April 10, 1965 and she preceded him in death in 2008. He was a veteran in the US Army. He was also a retired Welder and Heavy Equipment Supervisor.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his five brothers:  Esequiel Dutchover of Balmorhea, TX and Ismael, Fred, Joe Luis and Baltasar Dutchover, all of Odessa, TX; five sisters: Bennie Anchondo and Carmela Gomez, both of Balmorhea, TX, Mary Ellen Rodriguez of Midland, TX and Erlinda Carrasco and Ortensia Lara, both of Odessa, TX.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Angelica Dutchover; parents: Louis and Herminia Dutchover and sister: Elizer “Elsie” Martinez

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated by Father Hilary Ihedioha. Private Interment with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Rosehill section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

Mary M Minor
Mary Margaret Minor

Mary Margaret Minor, age 93 of Levelland, passed away on Wednesday, April 06, 2016 at Levelland Nursing Home.  She was born in Ft. Worth, TX on April 21, 1922 to Mr. and Mrs. Westfall.  Like “Rosie the Riveter,” Margaret chipped in during WWII and worked at a base near Ft. Worth.  An adventurous spirit, Margaret had spent eight years living in Colombia and Venezuela, South America while married and raising her children.  Though she was small in stature, she was fiery by nature.  Margaret was also a real head-turner and always got lots of attention. She was a retired florist and had worked at Vivian’s Flowers and 8th Street Albertsons. 

Margaret loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart.  Her granddaughters and great-grandchildren were her caregivers and their loving devotion and unselfishness inspired her and made many memories for them all. Her granddaughter, Sheila Alcazar and her family, ensured that Margaret lived fully in her last few years and wanted for nothing.

Margaret is survived by her sons: Clifton M. Minor, Jr. and wife Elizabeth “Liz”, and David Minor, all of Odessa; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her beloved dog: Sassy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son:  Mike Gilmore; daughter:  Sandy Martin; brother:  Dan Westfall; and one grandson:  Jimmy Don Pack.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, April 8, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa.  Private interment will be at American Heritage Cemetery in Midland.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Robert Austin Davis

Robert Austin Davis, age 87, of Ft. Stockton, TX, died at his residence on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. He was born in Morganfield, Kentucky on Friday, August 31, 1928 to Melvin and Lillian (Stone) Van Dyke.  He was a welder and a US Army WWII Veteran.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Brandy Nicole Perrin, age 20, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at her residence on Thursday, April 7, 2016. She was born in Katy, TX on Tuesday, May 9, 1995 to William and Karen (Woodlee) Perrin.

Brandy loved spending time with her family. She loved animals and playing Pokemon video games. Her favorite place to go was The Smokey Mountains. She was very fond of the spanish language. Brandy also enjoyed swimming and dance class..

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her parents: William and Karen Perrin of Odessa, TX; biological mother: Karen Gail Perrin of Columbus, OH; grandfather: Donald Woodlee of OK; sisters: Amber, Chelsey Shayla and Annie; brother: William; nephew: Trenton; nieces: Trinity, Lorena and Viviana, as well as, numerous aunts, uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Patricia Woodlee and William and Carol Perrin.

Jerry Short Westfall

Jerry Short Westfall, age 77, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at his residence on Thursday, April 7, 2016. He was born in Wilson County, TX on Saturday, December 31, 1938 to the late Stephen Arthur and Miriam Ada (Short) Westfall.

Jerry loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling and hunting. He was also a hard worker and worked in the oilfield as a driller until he became disabled in 1990.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife of 53 1/2 years: Sandra Westfall of Odessa, TX; son: Thomas Westfall of Odessa, TX; daughter: Valecia Chambers and husband Guy of Odessa, TX; sister: Shirley Scheid of Abilene, TX; brothers and sisters in law: David and Janice James, Sonny and Karen Carpenter, Willie and Ilene Carpenter, Wanda Westfall, Evelyn Westfall and Pat Willeford; father in law: Maurice Carpenter; 6 grandchildren: Kristin Lopez and husband Adam, Letitia Medrano, Maeghan Soriano and husband Miguel, Jordan Medrano, Seth Westfall, Tesiah Chambers; 2 great-grandchildren: Michael Soriano and Andrew Cortez; lifelong best friends: Jeff and Sandra Ward and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Stephen Arthur and Miriam Ada (Short) Westfall; son: Charles Westfall; brothers: Steve, Vaughn, Ed and Lee Westfall; sisters: Margie Alderman and Dorothy Riley.
