Sherry Lynn Heldenbrand

Sherry Lynn Heldenbrand, age 57, of Odessa went to sleep in death on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Detroit, MI on October 2, 1958 to Edward and Barbara (Paulk) Camp.  She was a homemaker and a tax preparation specialist.  

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Stephen E. Heldenbrand of Odessa; father:  Edward Camp of Newnan, GA; daughter:  Chantel Randolph of Odessa; brothers:  Lonnie Camp of Newnan and Randy Camp of St. Petersburg, FL; and three grandchildren:  Reece Dominguez, Niyah Dominguez, and Isabella Randolph.

She was preceded in death by her mother:  Barbara Camp and her son:  Justus Stephen Heldenbrand.

Visitation at Acres West Funeral Chapel will be on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.  Graveside services will be at Peaceful Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10:00 am.  Memorial services, officiated by Charles Dietz, will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 321 N. Adams Street, Odessa on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Elizabeth Benavides Perez

Elizabeth Benavides Perez, age 65, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, May 16, 2016.  She was born in Galveston, TX on May 22, 1950 to Jesse and Bertha (Gutierres) Benavides.  She was a homemaker.

Elizabeth is survived by her son:  Jamie Perez of Odessa; daughter:  Jessica Perez of Odessa; brother:  Chris Garza of Galveston; three sisters:  Sylvia Torres of Galveston, Patricia Meyers of Houston, and Lilly de la Cruz of Galveston; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son:  Steven Perez; and one brother:  Mike Garza.

No services will be held at this time.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Lyle D Charles
Lyle Dean Charles

Lyle Dean Charles, age 80, of Kermit, TX, passed from this life at his residence on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. He was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Burr Johnson Charles and Justine (Avona) Charles on Saturday, December 7, 1935.

Lyle worked in the oilfield for 50 years and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post # 339 and Sons of American Legion Squadron. He was a great mechanic and he owned and operated 2 service stations. Lyle loved rock hunting, fishing and playing computer games. He was the world’s worst to get in an argument with because he was always right.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Judy Charles of Kermit, TX; son: Lyle Zane Charles and wife Tammy of Kermit, TX; daughter: Debbie Oliver of Amarillo, TX; six step-children; one sister: Karen Phillips of Odessa, TX and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter: Cindy Warren.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday May 20, 2016 at the VFW in Kermit, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

JESUS M SERNA
Jesus Manuel “El Guero” Serna

Jesus Manuel “El Guero” Serna, age 39, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at Medical City Dallas on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. He was born in Presidio, TX on Sunday, September 12, 1976 to Rodolfo and Tomasita (Muñiz) Serna.

Jesus was owner and director of Flama Nortena, it was established in 1995 in Odessa, TX. Music was his passion. He loved his children and family very much. He enjoyed camping, dancing and outdoor activities. He will remembered as a loving and caring person.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his parents: Rodolfo and Tomasita Serna; two sons: Jesus Manuel Serna Jr. and Jose Angel Serna, both of Midland, TX; two brothers: Arnulfo Serna of Sanderson, TX and Rodolfo Serna Jr. of Odessa, TX; and sister: Diana Rivera of Odessa, TX.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, officiated by Father Michael Rodriguez. Burial will follow at the Peaceful Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

LaJuan Miles

LaJuan Miles, age 79, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Oklahoma City, Ok on Thursday, August 13, 1936 to the late Vincent and Lois (Goode) Halliburton. She was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Rocky Miles and Shannon Miles, both of Odessa, TX and Glen Jeter of Cristoval, TX and Steven Johnston of Oregon; 3 grandchildren: Shannon Kay Miles of Odessa, TX and Alex Jordan Fraley and Jared Thomas Fraley, both of Denver, CO, as well as 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Vincent and Lois Halliburton.

No services will be held at this time.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Shane Alan Osborn

Shane Alan Osborn, age 53, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at his residence on Thursday, May 19, 2016. He was born in Crosbyton, TX on Wednesday, November 28, 1962 to David Earl and Doris Janella (Martin) Osborn. He worked in the oil field.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his two brothers: David Brent Osborn of McCamey, TX and Gerald Wayne Osborn of Odessa, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Homero Diaz, Jr.

Homero Diaz, Jr., age 16, of Odessa, passed away in Odessa on Friday, May 20, 2016.  He was born in New Ulm, MN on Wednesday, July 7, 1999. He was a 9th grade student at Odessa High School. 

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his mother:  Maria Diaz of Odessa; biological mother and her husband:  Norma and Tomas Gallardo of Chaska, MN; brothers:  Juan Diaz and wife Maria of Event, Marco Diaz and wife Mobina of Odessa, Herbert Diaz and wife Laura of Albuquerque, NM, Ponciano Diaz and wife Jessica of Midland, Luciano Diaz of Odessa; Franky Cano and Tomas Gallardo, Jr. both of Chaska, MN; sisters:  Edna Diaz and husband Santos of Albuquerque, Maria Sanchez and husband Juan and Lorena Diaz, all of Odessa, Emily Diaz of Albuquerque, and Yasmine Cano of Chaska, MN.   

He was preceded in death by his father, Homero Diaz, Sr. 

Prayer services will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening at Templo Romanos 8:1, 614 W. Ada St. Odessa, TX.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am at Templo Romanos 8:1, officiated by Pastor David Campos.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jesus Clemente Muñoz

Jesus Clemente Muñoz, age 64, of Odessa, passed from this life at Odessa Regional Hospital in Odessa on Saturday, May 21, 2016. He was born in Harlingen, TX on November 14, 1951 to the late Herlinda (Silva) and Clemente Muñoz.  He was a custodian for many years and had also worked as a screen printer.

Those left to cherish Jesse's love and memory are his wife:  Rosa Elia (Garza) Muñoz of Odessa; three sons:  Gabriel Muñoz and wife Debbie, Orlando Muñoz, and Fabian Muñoz and wife Dusty, all of Odessa; and seven beloved grandchildren:  Marina Ybarra, Beyonce Muñoz, Britini Muñoz, Jesse Muñoz, Alyvia Muñoz, Cesar Montaño and Iyla Muñoz. 

Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Josue Rakesh Garcia, age 16, of Odessa, passed from this life in Midland, TX on Sunday, May 22, 2016.  He was born in Odessa on Saturday, August 7, 1999.  He was a 9th grader.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his mother:  Gardenia Garcia; grandparents:  Elia and Isidro Casias; brother:  Manuel Carrion; sisters:  Maritza Sierra, Ashley Rodriguez, and Jazmine Rodriguez, all of Odessa; uncles and aunts:  Omar & Crystal Garcia, Jaime & Crystal Pinedo, Ariel Lujan, Angelica & Adam Garcia, Angela Garcia & Jr. Rubalcaba, Obed Valenzuela, and Elizabeth & Adan Arreola; nephew:  Angel Carrion; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

His grandfather, Lucio Garcia, precedes him in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel.  Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel.  Interment will follow at Peaceful Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Clifford LeRoy Serviss

Clifford LeRoy Serviss, 74, of Odessa, passed from this life Monday, May 23, 2016 in Odessa. He was born Thursday, March 26, 1942 in La Junta, Colorado to the late Thelma Joy Rush and Roy M. Serviss. Clifford retired from the city of Odessa and became a deacon at Kingston Avenue Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: Billy R. Serviss of Odessa, TX; two daughters: Tammy S. Taylor of Odessa, TX and Sissy King of Imperial, TX; one sister: Linda Serviss of Schertz, TX; one niece: Diane Serviss of Schertz, TX; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters: Brenda Kay Serviss and Leigh Ann Serviss; and two brothers: Bobby Lee Serviss and Roger Serviss.

The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening, May 26, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, May 27, 2016 at Kingston Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Tressa Ann Burson 
Tressa Ann Burson

Tressa Ann Burson, age 45, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. She was born in Odessa, TX on Tuesday, September 8, 1970 to Dewayne and Sandra (Hillerby) Burson.

Tressa was a great mom and grandma who was always happy and laughed often.  She cared a lot for her family and loved to spend time with her kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and sister. Time with family was her first priority and she just could not get enough. Tressa also enjoyed family BBQ’s, playing games, cards, and slots. She had a heart for others and shared everything she had with anyone who needed it.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her two sons and daughters-in-law: Little Gary Wayne Burson and wife Beth Burson and Casey Lynn Burson and wife Elizabeth Burson, all of Odessa, TX; husband: A.J. “Buck” Price of Odessa, TX; one brother: Herschel Burson and wife Tonya of Odessa, TX; sister: Tammy Rich and husband Kevin of Odessa, TX; two grandchildren: Nathan Burson and Madalynn Burson; two nieces: Kandace Williams and Kailey Burson and two nephews: Dustin Rich and Caden Burson.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dewayne and Sandra Burson.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, May 27, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Services will be held privately by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Robert Samuel Kenny

Robert (Bob) Kenny passed away on May 24, 2016. He was born March 17,1951 in Alhambra, California and raised in Boulder City, Nevada. Bob joined the US Marine Corp in 1969. He was a veteran and served in Vietnam until 1971 when he was honorably discharged.  

He was an exceptional animal lover, where he would take in and feed any and all stray animals. He worked for Midessa Transportation for 33 years.  

He is survived by his daughter Carrie Faith and son Robby Lee, both of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by Linda & Ron Montgomery of Midland, Texas who were his closest friends.  

He is preceded in death by his mother Esther Burr and his father Bill Burr, both of Boulder City, Nevada.  

Bob will be sadly missed by all who loved him. 

His wishes were to be cremated and a memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
