Linda Jenell Cox
Linda Jenell Cox
Linda Jenell Cox, age 64, of Midland, TX, passed away at Midland Memorial Hospital on Saturday, June 4, 2016. She was born in Monahans, TX on Tuesday, April 1, 1952 to the late Buddy and Geneva (King) Harpole.

It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Larry Cox, on June 29, 1968. She found her purpose in life – family. Linda lived for her family and always put everyone’s needs above her own. As her kids grew and began raising children of their own, she became “Memaw” to her grandchildren and great grandchild. Linda spent the last 28 years of her life devoted to her son, Justin Cox, where she was very active in Young Life and Capernaum. Linda was a strong advocate for special needs children’s rights and respect.

Linda left behind many wonderful memories for her husband: Larry Joe Cox of Midland; two sons: Chris Cox and wife Angelica and Justin Cox, both of Midland; two daughters: Amy Hill and husband R.J of Shelbyville, KY and Michelle Ward and husband Butch of Wylie, TX; one son: Don Harpole and wife Michelle of Fairbanks, AK; 12 grandchildren: Dylan and Jake Hill, Shawn and Ethan Cox, Jacobie Roland, Dakota Ward and Taylor, Hannah, Haley, Emily, Madison, Alexis Smalley and one great-grandchild: McKenzie Morgan Cox.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson: Alexander Jordan Hill.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Crestview Baptist Church, 301 Loop 250 Frontage Rd in Midland with Dr. John Geralch officiating. Flowers or expressions of sympathy can be sent to 2505 B Haynes Dr., Midland, TX 79705. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Janice I. Johnson, age 62, long time resident of Odessa went to be with her Lord, Sunday, June 5, 2016. She was born in Kermit, TX on Monday, August 24, 1953 to the late Jack Akin and Mittie Pursell. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Janice married Eddie Johnson, Saturday, July 20, 1991 in Kermit, TX. Janice was a homemaker and loved reading.

Janice leaves behind her husband: Edward Johnson of Odessa; two step-sons: Justin Johnson and wife Randi of Odessa; James Johnson and wife Kim of Odessa; one daughter: Nichole Johnson of Odessa; seven grandchildren; one sister: Kathy Kapka and husband Jim of Weatherford, TX; one brother-in-law Mike Bandel of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Rusty Akin and one sister: Cheryl Bandel.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Northside Baptist Church in Odessa, TX and interment will be held Thursday at 3:00 pm at Kermit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Paul David Gates, 66, of Odessa, passed from this life Monday, June 6, 2016 in Odessa, TX. He was born Friday, November 21, 1949 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Francis Edward and Wenonah Evelyn (Patterson) Gates.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his spouse: Doris Copeland of Odessa, TX; one son: Ken Little of Odessa, TX; two daughters: Tammy Crawford of Odessa, TX; Terri Webb of South Haven, MI; two sisters and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Services will be held privately by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Our little angel, Ashben Wyatt Huddleston was whisked away to the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Odessa Regional Medical Center.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his parents: Aaron and Tiffany Huddleston of Odessa, TX; maternal grandparents: WD and JoAnn Edwards; paternal grandparents: Lola Grundy and Mark Huddleston; brother: Asher Huddleston; sisters: Tatiana Ortega, Talia Ortega and Tamia Ortega, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Ginger Outlaw; maternal great-grandfather: Johnny Outlaw and great grandmother: Ruth Grundy.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 am, Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Los Angeles section of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Craig DeArmond. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Danny Joe Tipton, age 57, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Magnum, OK on Monday, June 16, 1958 to Otha Lee and Luvada (Lanning) Tipton.

Danny was a very helpful and caring person. He always loved visiting with friends and helping people. Danny enjoyed riding horses, fishing, hunting, repairing cars as a shade tree mechanic, coffee shops, Pojos and Country Café. He was a kid magnet and a father figure to everyone. He loved them all and they loved him. Danny met his wife Mary Bilbrey in the 70’s. They married in Odessa, TX on October 11, 1985 and enjoyed 31 years together.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Mary Bilbrey Tipton of Odessa, TX; son: Ryan James Tipton of Odessa, TX; three brothers: Otha Lee Jr. Tipton of Rankin, TX, David Ray Tipton of Crane, TX and Jerry Lynn Tipton of Gamaliel, KY; five sisters: Monica Sue Buchanan of Bethpage, TN, Terri Lanette Henderson of Albany, KY, Margaret Strause of Goliad, TX, Cathy Johanson of Orland, CA and Ruby Fulcher of Crane, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Otha Lee and Luvada Tipton; three brothers: Sherman Lee Tipton, Earl Franklin Tipton and Gary Wayne Tipton.

Ema’Lyn was our little warrior who fought from beginning to end.

Israel ”Dodge” Fierro, age 40, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Friday, June 10, 2016. He was born in Dodge City, KS on Thursday, May 6, 1976 to Marcos Fierro and Maria Garcia.

Dodge loved making model cars and motorcycles. He also collected ceramic horses and would fix them up by adding saddles. Dodge was a grouch all the time, he was always grumpy. Having been born in Dodge City Kansas he acquired the name “Dodge”.

Rosa Castelia (Torres) Calanche, age 54, of Odessa, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Sunday, June 12, 2016. She was born in Pecos, TX on Monday, April 2, 1962 to Refugio and Maria Lydia (Payen) Torres. She was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Mario Calanche of Odessa, TX; parents: Refugio and Maria Lydia Torres of Odessa, TX; son: Mario Calanche Jr. and wife Isabel of Odessa, TX; three daughters: Maria Munoz and husband Jesus, Vanessa Munoz and husband Noe and Jasmine Calanche, all of Odessa, TX; two brothers: Jesse Torres and wife Rufina of Odessa, TX and Anthony Vasquez and wife Rosalinda of Azle, TX; four sisters: Manuela Deanda and husband Rey of Verina, TX and Lupe Torres-Licon, Refugia Torres-Rojero and Socorro Sosa and husband Carlos, all of Odessa, TX; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild on the way.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Acres West 24 Hour Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, officiated by Father Miguel Romero. Patricia Gibson
Patricia Gibson

Patricia Gibson, age 82, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Thursday, June 16, 2016.  She was born in Rosiclare, IL on February 5, 1934 to the late Wilburn and Myrtle (McDonald) Collins.  Pat spent most of her life in Albuquerque, New Mexico before moving to Midland, Texas later in life.  Pat was a hardworking self-sufficient woman enjoying careers as a beautician, grocery retail clerk, and Job Corps.  Pat enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas, gambling and relaxing at home.  Pat was blessed with 9 children. 

Pat is survived by all nine of her children, son, David Chester and wife Anita, son, Eddie Chester and wife Barb, son, Paul Gibson and wife Vickie, daughter, Carol Ratliff and husband Charles, daughter, Debbie Martinez and husband Gerald, daughter, Elizabeth Dowd and husband David, daughter, Kim Fitch and husband Don, son, Tim Gibson, son, George Gibson and wife Viola.  Pat is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Pat will be greatly missed by the many who loved her. 

Her husband, her parents, and her brothers, Wilburn Jr. and Bobby, preceded her in death.

A celebration of her life will be held at 16 Cody Road, Peralta, New Mexico on July 9, 2016 at noon.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Rafeal Salas White

Rafeal Salas White, 81, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his residence. He was born August 18, 1934 in Alpine to Santiago & Braulia (Salas) White.  He worked as a foreman and insulator. 

Rafeal loved family and fishing and enjoyed beer and music.  He was a wonderful husband and great father who taught his family so much.  He leaves them with wonderful memories and a legacy of love. 

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla (Torres) White of Odessa; three sons, Rafael White, Jr. and wife Maggie of Karney, NE, Ruben White and wife Lidia of Sonora, and Hector Payen and wife Olaya of Amarillo; four daughters, Anna Fuentes of Odessa, Rosie Anderson and husband Jason of Borger, Mimi Orona of Odessa, and Olivia Aguilera and husband Alfredo of Odessa; brothers, Elias White and wife Nancy, and Santiago White and wife Rosa, all of Borger, and David White and wife Grace of Odessa; sisters, Alicia Rodriguez and Orelia Rodriguez, both of Borger, Ofelia Rodriguez and husband Ken of Sandoval, and Elia Rodriguez and husband Armando of Borger; and twenty-three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

Rafeal is preceded in death by his daughter, Mary “Mickie” Ruiz; and brother, Fidel White. 

Viewing will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 9 AM – 7 PM at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Services will be held privately by the family.
