Martin Leyva
Martin Leyva, 87, of Odessa, passed from this life, Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Odessa. He was born in Hacienda de Orientales, Mexico on Tuesday, January 29, 1929 to the late Felix and Eufemia (Armendariz) Leyva.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are three sons: David and Remigio Leyva, both of Odessa, TX, and Joel Leyva of Presidio, TX; five daughters: Flor Carrasco, Edelmira Renteria, Letty Carrasco, Corina Leyva and Vilma Muñoz, all of Odessa, TX; brother, Ruben Leyva of Fort Stockton; four sisters, Lourdes Marquez of Lovington, NM, Librada Lujan of Midland, Merced Leyva of Ojinaga, Mexico, and Clara Hernandez of Odessa; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Francisca Leyva; parents; brothers, Ramon, Aurelio, and Natividad Leyva; and sister, Catalina Lujan.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Acres West Funeral Chapel and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Odessa II Section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Hector Anaya, Javier Carrasco, Severo Carrasco, Melissa Chapa, Remy Leyva, and Thalia Muñoz will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Belia Rodriguez
Belia Rodriguez, age 80, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Odessa, TX. She was born Friday, June 19, 1936 in Barrancos, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Gabino Bejarano and Nolberta Vasquez. Belia and Enrique Rodriguez married in August 1954 in Alpine, TX. She loved to listen to music, her shoes and she really enjoyed sewing.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her three sons: Alfredo Rodriguez of Pecos, TX; Enrique Rodriguez Jr. and wife Connie of Odessa, TX; Tony Rodriguez and wife Loree of Odessa, TX; two daughters: Balvina Morales of Odessa, TX; Nori Rodriguez of Monahans, TX; two brothers: Euguenio Bejarano and Merejildo Bejarano; three sisters: Paula Avidrez, Josefa Bejarano and Amalia Bejarano; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse: Enrique Rodriguez Sr. and her brother Benny Bejarano.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Saragosa, TX. Interment will follow at Saragosa Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Ida Ilean Polk

Ida Ilean Polk, age 88 of Odessa, passed from this life on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Grady, NM on Tuesday, November 8, 1927 to the late William Louis and Mary Cathrine (Kos) Box and was raised on a farm near Portales, NM.

Her parents; her husband: Augustus C. “A.C.” Polk; her youngest son: Clifton Polk; brothers: Jim and Tom Box; and sisters: Willie M. Meyer and Rose A. Gibson, all precede her in death.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her sons: Christopher Box and wife Marybeth of Lubbock, Conal Ray Polk and wife Irma of Beeville, and Curtis Lee Polk and wife Mary of Odessa; daughters: Judy Trower and husband Mike of Clovis, NM and Cindy Adams and husband Bobby of Odessa; sister: Betty McCann of New Braunfels; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild with another one on the way.

Ida worked as an all night cook at a truck stop in Portales, NM and thereafter had trouble with keeping her days and nights straight. During her time in the nursing home, she often observed that she really needed to go back to the kitchen and show them how to cook. Her career also included 25 years at the Levi Strauss factory in Midland and ten years at the Carl Miles Meat Market in Odessa. She was a no-nonsense lady who enjoyed word find puzzles, gardening, and “cutting a rug.” She and her husband had won several dance contests at the Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM. She was such a devoted gardener that she sometimes slept in the garden in order to keep the critters out. If you did not think something could grow – she could prove you wrong. When given a word search puzzle book, Ida wouldn’t put it down until it was complete. She was a loving person who was welcoming to all.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will also be at Acres West at 10:00 am on Friday, July 29, 2016. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Gardens of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West.

In lieu of food, the family requests flowers.

Betty Diana Petrosky

Betty Diana Petrosky, age 58, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Sunday, July 24, 2016. She was born in Andrews, TX on Friday, January 17, 1958 to the late Harold Wayne and Della MaeBelle (Kea) McCrary. Betty married Craig Petrosky in Odessa on January 4, 1985.  She was a Lab Technician at Medical Center Hospital, a work-a-holic, she actually held down three jobs.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Craig Petrosky of Odessa and her sister: Donna Overton and husband Carl of Odessa.  She also leaves behind numerous friends.

Services will be privately held. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Manuel Ramos

Manuel Ramos, age 67, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born in Mulato, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on Wednesday, June 22, 1949 to the late Jesus and Isidra (Villalobos) Ramos.

Manuel was a patient and loving father, uncle and grandfather. He loved his son-in-laws like they were his own. Manuel was a strong man and a great teacher. He was very dependable and had a great sense of humor. Manuel was a mentor to all of his friends and family. He was very loved and will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Bahola V. Ramos; three sons: Manuel Ramos Jr, Ricardo Ramos and Raul Ramos and wife Ludivina; four daughters: Cindy Ramos and husband Martin, Maria Ramos and husband Rogelio, Leticia Ramos and Yesenia Ramos and husband Angel; brother: Jose Luis Ramos; sisters: Apolonia Molina, Enedina Orosco, Manuela Carrillo, Yolanda Carrassco and Victorina Caballero and grandchildren: Victoria, Martin Jr, Rudy Jr, Crystal, Anthony, Nathalie, Mavelyn, Raul Jr, Iris, Izek, Richie Jr and Gabby, all of Odessa, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents:  Jesus and Isidra (Villalobos) Ramos; brothers: Armando and Martin Ramos and sisters: Teresa and Trini Ramos and Maria Luisa Urquidi.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Church of the Living God, officiated by Pastor Emilio and Virginia Hernandez. Burial will follow at the Odessa Garden II section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Philip Dwight Cochran, age 50, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, July 25, 2016. He was born in Beaumont, TX on December 17, 1965 to Philip Cochran and Amelia Valdez. He was a painter.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his parents: Armando and Millie Pina; son: Philip Cochran; daughters: Krystal and Whitney Cochran; sister: Amanda Marquez; niece: Emily Marquez; nephews: Daniel and Eric Marquez and two grandchildren.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, July 29, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Deacon Flabio Franco. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

James Phillips
James Bristol Phillips

James Bristol Phillips, age 88, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at his residence on Monday, July 25, 2016. He was born in Long Creek, South Carolina on Wednesday, February 15, 1928 to the late Clifton and Mary Ann (Wilbanks) Phillips. Mr. Phillips worked in the West Texas oilfields as a diesel mechanic until his retirement in 1998.

Mr. Phillips spent his early life on the farm and was drafted into the Military at age 18. Over the course of 8 years, 1946 to 1954, he served in the United States Air Force in the Philippines, Guam and Libya all while achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant Mr. Phillips moved to Texas, working in oil exploration. He met and married Janet Ruth Dunn in Pecos, TX on November 7, 1959. This union was blessed with three children. He was very proud of them and was devoted to their families as well.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife of 57 years: Janet Phillips of Odessa, TX; daughter: Linda Jean Mills and husband Mike of Flower Mound, TX; two sons: Jeffrey David Phillips and wife Donna of Midland, TX and James Clifton Phillips and wife Keri of Antioch, California; sister: Beunice Shockley of Greenville, South Carolina; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Bea Pollard.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Crossroads Fellowship, officiated by Curtis Brewer. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. Lionel Armendariz Cabezuela, age 44, of Odessa passed from this life on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born Monday, November 1, 1971 in Presidio, TX to Concepcion Cabezuela and Elvira (Armendariz) Morales.  He was a back hoe operator and construction worker.  He was Catholic.  Lionel was a Dallas Cowboy fanatic.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife:  Michelle (Zubiate) Cabezuela of Odessa; mother:  Elvira Morales of Odessa; father:  Concepcion Cabezuela of Presidio; three sons:  Randy Rodriguez of Presidio, and Lionel Cabezuela, Jr. and Liovani Cabezuela, both of Odessa; daughters:  Myra Cabezuela, Gabriella Rodriguez, Anna Cabezuela, and April Cabezuela, all of Odessa; brother:  Edgar Morales of Odessa; and five grandchildren:  Brayen, Elaina, Izabella, Sophia and Analeigha.

Memorial mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 11:00 am, officiated by Fr. Fernando Bonilla.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Kevin Ray McLean, age 52, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at his residence on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. He was born in Odessa, TX on Friday, March 20, 1964 to Harold and Hannelore (Brokoff) McLean. He was a Machinist.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his father: Harold McLean of Odessa and brother: Thomas McLean of Odessa, TX;

He was preceded in death by his mother: Hannelore Hedwig Emma McLean.
