James “Jamie” Dewie Everhart

James “Jamie” Dewie Everhart, age 44, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at his residence on Sunday, December 11, 2016. He was born in Odessa, TX on Saturday, November 18, 1972 to James and Lavona (Kaker) Everhart. He was a Mechanic.

Jamie was a good hearted and caring person. He loved his parents and children very much. Jamie enjoyed talking about friends and old times. He loved cars and tools. Dallas Cowboys were his favorite football team and he never missed a game. Dale Earnhart Jr was his favorite NASCAR driver and he would always tease Devin about the Rockets losing to the Spurs or Mavericks. Jamie loved loud music, being outdoors, hot weather and riding four wheelers at the Sandhills.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his mother: Lavona Everhart of Odessa; son: James Devin Everhart of Odessa; daughter: Ryann Everhart of Odessa and their mother Jennifer Nunez and close friend: Kelly Griffith.

He was preceded by his father: James William Everhart and close friends: Jason Riley and Byron Voss.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Janie L Urban
Jane “Janie” Laverne Urban

Jane “Janie” Laverne Urban, age 63, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Sunday, December 11, 2016. She was born in Monahans, TX on Tuesday, February 3, 1953 to the late Richard and Vanley “Faye” (Skurlock) Pierce.

Janie was a truck driver and trained others how to drive semi trucks. She was also a school bus driver and loved all of her kids. Janie enjoyed shopping and cooking. She and her best friend Debra loved getting in trouble together and they were more like sisters. Janie would pray and her dog Barney would join in and pray with her.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Fred Urban of Odessa; three brothers: Melvin “Mo” Mosley of Odessa, Richard Pierce of Artesia, NM and Lonnie Pierce of Carlsbad, NM; five sisters: Vanda Lockhart, Shirley Simmons, Wilma Brannan, Delores Mansell, all of Artesia, NM and Frankie Priest of Carlsbad, NM, as well as three grandchildren: Trey Urban of Odessa, Tara Harmes and husband Aaron of Fort Hood and Tori Urban of Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Christopher Bratcher and brother: Arthur Ray Mosley.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Mike Bartlett. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Karen Lee Duncan

Karen Lee Duncan, age 62, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was born in Odessa on September 15, 1954 to the late Waiburn Kent and Norma Lee (Lankford) Smith.  Karen was the bookkeeper at Dunlaps for 12 years.  She also worked a couple of years for the Odessa American and five years at Compass Hospice.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her son:  Adam Mannering of Odessa and her brother:  Taylor Smith of Milwaukee, WI.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Tommy R Puga
Thomas Ruben Puga

Thomas Ruben Puga, 52, of Midland, TX passed away in Lubbock, TX on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at University Medical Center.  He was born in Crane, TX on August 8, 1964 to Ruben Puga and Hope (Fierro) Hall.

Tommy was a hard working man and a typical guy.  He loved football and loved to BBQ.  A big hearted man, he was a dedicated father and friend, who would do anything for anyone.

His son, Justin Wayne Puga, preceded him in death.

Mr. Puga is survived by his sons:  Thomas Puga and wife Amy and Jordan Puga and wife Samantha, all of Midland; their mom:  Donita Puga Huckabee and their grandmother:  Latonia Huckabee; his mother:  Hope Hall and husband Don of Crane; his father:  Ruben Puga of Midland; his longtime girlfriend:  Michelle Smith of Midland; brothers:  Tony Puga and wife Kym of Oklahoma and David Puga and wife Sonja of Crane; sisters:  Sylvia Puga of Wichita Falls and Joann Mead of Longview, TX; and three grandchildren:  Justin, Rylie and Wyatt.

Memorial services will be privately held by the family.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Charles F Selmon
Charles Fredrick Selmon

Charles Fredrick Selmon was born in Slayton, TX on Monday, January 18, 1932 to the late Travis Lee and Thelma Cleo Selmon.  He passed away in Odessa, TX at Medical Center Hospital on Wednesday, December 14, 2016.  Charles served in the National Guard during the Korean Conflict (1950 to 1953). 

An electrician by trade, he worked for Texas Electric for 38 years.  He was also the owner and operator of Double Eagle Pawn for ten years.  Upon retirement, he was able to spend more time on his other varied interests:  upholsterer, seamstress, jeweler, gunsmith, cook, machinist and carpenter to name a few.  He was always doing something with his hands.  If he did not know how to do it, Charles would find a way.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, dancing, and cooking for his family.  Mr. Selmon was a 3rd ° Master Mason (Lodge #1385 AF & AM), 32nd ° Scottish Rite and a member of the Al Maida Shrine.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Travis and Thelma Selmon, one sister:  Jessie Beth, and a brother:  Truman Lee Selmon.

Charles is survived by his loving wife and companion of 65 years:  Mary Idell Selmon; daughter:  Pamela Rimer and husband Larry; granddaughter:  Christy Graham; great-grandchildren:  Tiffany Graham Elrod and Jarred Graham and wife Jessica; and great-great grandsons: Trystin Elrod, Jarred and Braxten Graham.  He is also survived by his sisters:  Clara Jean Tarver of Sulphur, LA, Wilma Kidd of Hobbs, NM, and Nelda Sue Lee and Billy Francis Thatcher Parker, both of Decatur, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, December 16, 2016.  Funeral services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, TX at 10:00 am Saturday, December 17, 2016Masonic Graveside Services will be at Rose Cemetery in Merkel, TX that afternoon at 3:00 pm.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Martha Elida Elvira

Martha Elida Elvira, age 54 of Midland, TX, passed from this life at Midland Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, 13, 2016. She was born in Ojinaga, MX on Friday, May 4, 1962 to Cipriano and Librada (Galindo) Parra.

Martha was a hardworking and loving person. She always had fun with everyone and she loved her family very much. Martha enjoyed cooking, dancing and joking around. She had a big heart and it was open to anyone.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her father: Cipriano Parra of Midland; two sons: Adrian Bejarno of Midland and Alex Elvira and wife Michelle of Midland; one brother: Daniel Parra of Midland; one sister: Olivama Cruz and husband Alberto of Midland; nieces: Deisy Cruz, Jessica Cruz and Bianca Parra; nephews: David Parra, Xavier Parra, Eddie Parra, Mark Parra and Daniel Parra.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Acres West 24 Hour Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 19, 2016 at Acres West 24 Hour Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens in Midland, TX. Lloydell Lee (Laird) Barnes

Lloydell Lee (Laird) Barnes, age 70, of Eden, TX passed from this life at Concho Health and Rehabilitation in Eden on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was born in Odessa, TX on Tuesday, September 3, 1946 to the late Adell and Goldie (Lowrey) Laird. She was a nurse's aide.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her niece: Brandy Baker of Odessa; nephews: Shane and Cory Little, both of Odessa and cousins: John Baxter and wife Mary of Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Sue Baker, and cousin:  Karis Lewis.

Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Carlos Palomares
Carlos Palomares, Jr.

Carlos Palomares, Jr., 5 months, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born June 26, 2016 in Odessa to Carlos Palomares and Jacqueline Lujan.

He is survived by his parents; twin brother, Ernesto Palomares; sister, Vanessa Palomares; grandparents, Ernesto and  Loly Palomares and Jose Luis and Manuela Lujan; uncles, Jose Luis Lujan, Jr. and Alvaro Lujan; and aunts, Noviakarla Palomares, Lizeth Lujan, and Adriana Lujan.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Los Angeles Gardens section of the Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Robert D. Laviers

Robert D. Laviers, age 69, of Fort Stockton, passed from this life at Pecos County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, December 20, 2016. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday, October 29, 1947 to David and Mary Laviers.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sons: Kennard and his spouse Sabra Laviers of Alpine, TX; Allan and his spouse Gloria Laviers of Fort Irwin, CA and Anthony Laviers of Van Horn, TX; Four grandchildren: Jeremy Laviers, Shelby Laviers, Anthony and Amy Laviers.

Luis Burrola Sr.
Luis Burrola, Sr.

Luis Burrola, Sr. age 66, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa on Monday, December 19, 2016.  He was born in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico on August 16, 1950 to the late Calixtro and Sabina Gardea. He was retired from working at Crystal Rivers Painting and Remodeling. 

Luis is survived by his sons:  Luis A. Burrola, Luis Burrola, Jr. Saul Padilla, and Joe Padilla, all of Odessa; one  daughter:  Melecia Burrola of Odessa;  numerous brothers and sisters; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter: Veronica Martinez.

Funeral services will be held at a later date in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, MX with burial to follow at Cementerio Valle Nuevo. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Phillip Michael Bibey
Phillip Michael Bibey, age 37 of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on December 19, 2016.  He was born in Pinehurst, North Carolina on Saturday, August 4, 1979 to David Michael and Pamela (Swoope) Bibey.
Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Lashantaye (Moore) Bibey of Odessa, TX; his mothers’ Pamela Matthews of Pinebluff, NC and Karla Allen of Las Vegas, NV; his father Lavell Moore brother:  Mark Allen Matthews;  four sisters: Rebecca Bibey Caddell of Aberdeen, NC;  Mary Beth Matthews of Pinebluff, NC;  Lakieva Moore of Austin, TX and Conchetta Johnson of Odessa, TX. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews and an abundant amount of family and friends who will miss him dearly.  He was loved and will be deeply missed.
