Lloyd G. Smith

Lloyd G. Smith, 55, of Lubbock, TX passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Wednesday, January 17, 1962 in Chula Vista, California.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his spouse: Rhonda Smith of Lubbock, TX; one son: Ricky Freeman of Odessa, TX; four daughters: Rebekah Davis  of Floydada, TX; Sarah Wilson of Surprise, AZ; Jordan Chavez of Lubbock, TX; China Smith of Little Field, TX; three sisters and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd George Smith and Wanda Wills Smith and his daughter: Haley Smith Harper.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton, TX, officiated by Brother Chris Downer. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Heraldo L. Mireles

Heraldo L. Mireles, age 70, of Odessa, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Dexter, NM on Friday, November 15, 1946 to Eloy and Eliser Mireles.  He married Jessie Rodriguez in Dexter on January 25, 1967.  He worked as a truck driver for Dakota Land.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Jessie Mireles; daughter:  Rebecca Mireles; and son:  Bobby Mireles, all of Odessa; brothers:  Gilbert Mireles of San Antonio, Eloy Mireles Jr. of Albuquerque; Tommy Mireles of Dexter, and Abel Mireles of Roswell; sisters:  Delia Brady of Dexter and Ruby Parks of Roswell; and six grandchildren:  Audrey, Candace, Ethan, Patrick, Jden, and Brylen.

His parents and one sister, Juanita Natividad, precede him in death.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm Sunday evening.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 pm on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, officiated by Father Fernando Bonilla.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens of Ector County Cemetery.

Tomasa Corona Gonzalez

Tomasa Corona Gonzalez, age 92, of Odessa passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.  She began her earthly journey in Cienega de Ojos Azules, Chihuahua, Mexico on November 7, 1924, born to Deciderio and Nestora (Anchondo) Corona. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband:  Socorro Gonzalez; son:  Santos Gonzalez, two young sons and two young daughters, three brothers:  Antonio Corona, Arturo Corona, and Ignacio Corona, and one sister:  Moncerrat Espino.

She is survived by her son:  Eriberto Gonzalez and wife Alejandra Rivera Gonzalez, daughters:  Ramona Gonzalez, Cecelia Tarin, Socorro Solis and husband Jesus Solis, Ofelia Alvarez and husband Alvaro, and Guadalupe Gonzalez, cousin:  Elvira Bustillos and her family, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be at 7:00 pm Friday, February 24, 2017 at the funeral home.  Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brothers Joe Vidal and Roy Leyva.  Interment follows at Odessa II Garden of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Patricia Anne (Hughes) Willis

Patricia Anne (Hughes) Willis, age 64, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at Deerings Nursing and Rehabilitation on Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was born in Swainsboro, GA on December 28, 1952. She married Jimmy Willis in Georgia in April 1985.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her beloved husband of 32 years: Jimmy Willis of Odessa; sons: Tommy Sause and wife Stacie of Midville, GA and Brian Sause and wife Jill of Swainsboro, GA; daughter: Heather Aycock and husband Wes of Odessa; mother: Mollie Chapman of Midville, GA; brother: Jim Riner and wife Dora of Midville, GA; sister: Vickie Harbin of Anderson, SC; 5 grandchildren: Ally, Amy, Monica, Kyler and Bailey and 1 great-grandchild: Jordan.

Memorial services will be held privately at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Santos Lujan

Santos Lujan Burciaga, age 92, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at his residence on Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on November 1, 1924 to the late Manuel and Felicitas (Burciaga) Lujan.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his beloved wife: Agricola Sotelo Lujan; sons: Adrian Lujan, Jose Luis Lujan, Carlos Lujan and Margarito Lujan; daughters: Armida Aguilar, Genoveva Sanchez, Margarita Leyva, Felicitas Caballero, AnaMaria Levario, Rosario Leyva and Zoraida Huitron; 56 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sons: David Sotelo, Santos Lujan Jr. and Jesus Manuel Lujan.

Services will be held at a later date in Mexico with burial at El Ultimo Adios de Canada Ancha, Canada Ancha, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Matias B Salgado
Matias Bustillos Salgado

Matias Bustillos Salgado, age 89, passed away at his Odessa residence on February 26, 2017.  He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on March 25, 1927 to the late Jesus and Felipa (Bustillos) Salgado.  He married Ana Ramos in Mexico in 1949 and she preceded him in death April 28, 2008.

Matias is survived by his sons:  Luis Salgado, Reynaldo Salgado, and Matias Salgado; six daughters:  Irma Zubia, Soila Gavaldon, Maria Elena Zubia, Maria Jesus Salazar, Martha Hernandez, and Rosa Hilda Bustillos; brother:  Francisco Salgado; sister:  Candelaria Salgado; forty-six grandchildren; sixty-three great grandchildren; and twenty-two great-great grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited Monday, February 27, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa.  Funeral services will be at a later date in Cañada Ancha with interment to follow at Cementerio de Cañada Ancha, Cañada Ancha, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa and Funeraria de Valle in Ojinaga.

Mary Beaver

Mary Beaver, 81, of Odessa, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Tuesday, February 11, 1936 in Fort Worth, TX to the late Alvie and Grace (Crawley) Dickson.  She was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Eddie Beaver and wife Diana; daughter:  Sharon Haney and husband Buck, all of Odessa; and eight grandchildren:  Elexus, Stephanie, Ashley, Hunter, Chris, John, Bucky and Dristy; and multiple great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Ray Beaver.

Memorial Services will be held at Vine Baptist Church, 2200 West 22nd Street at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2017, officiated by Pastor Johnny Touchstone. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Doretta (Harris) Simpson, age 75, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at her residence on Monday, February 27, 2017. She was born in Denison, TX on May 14, 1941 to the late Herbert “H.P.” Pledge and Gertrude (Price) Harris.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Dwain Washburn of Claude, TX; daughter: Kathi Hudson of Odessa; brother: Robert Harris of Claude, TX; sister: Iris Floyd of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday March 4, 2017 at Crossroads Fellowship Church, 6901 E. Hwy 191, Odessa, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Teresa de Jesus Cervantes

Teresa de Jesus Cervantes, age 69, of Alpine, TX, passed from this life in Odessa on Monday, February 27, 2017. She was born in Alpine, TX on April 14, 1947 to the late Sebastian and Maria (Acosta) Cervantes.  

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her brothers: Ruben and Sebastian Jr. Cervantes; sister: Yolanda Cervantes and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Ramon, Benito, Armando and Bruno.

Rosary will be held at 10:00 am, March 2, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine, TX. Funeral Mass will be held immediately following the Rosary with Fr. Robert Kobe officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Kennith Ray Hodges, age 75, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. He was born in Odessa, TX on Tuesday, March 18, 1941 to Johnnie and Velma (Adams) Hodges.  He was a retired construction worker and a US Navy Veteran.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his daughters: Elizabeth Hodges and Sharon Pace; son: Brian Hodges; 7 grandchildren: Toni, Lisa, Alex, Lane, Paul, Justis and Hunter and 7 great-grandchildren: Adan, Layla, Keira, Ally, Gemma, Liam and Alexis.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Memorial services with military honors will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday March 4, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Larry Hood. The family invites all to a gathering following the memorial services at the American Legion.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Angelica Denise Velasquez, age 11, of Odessa, TX passed from this life in Lubbock, TX on Monday, February 27, 2017.  She was born in Odessa, TX on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 to Juan Velasquez and Stephanie Ruiz. She attended Crockett Middle School and was active in the choir. She loved spending time with family, friends and her beloved dog Gigi.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her mother: Stephanie Ruiz; father: Juan Velasquez; brothers: Alex and Johnny Jr. Velasquez; paternal grandparents: Manny Martinez and Alice Velasquez; maternal grandparents: Albino Ruiz and Dora Leyva and husband Cleo; uncles: Robert Velasquez, Robert Kinsey and Alvin Ruiz; aunts: Mia Velasquez, Sabrina and Sylvia Ruiz and Sierra Mezzell and cousins: Daniel Ruiz, Jermiah Perez, Ariana Perez, John Paul Escobar, Chance Mezzell, Easton Velasquez and Adan Gardea.

Linda Gaye (Norman) Jones

Linda Gaye (Norman) Jones, age 67, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in Odessa. She was born in Odessa, TX on Sunday, September 25, 1949. She was the youngest daughter of the late Reverend Ervin (EJ) and Dorothy Norman. She graduated from Odessa High School.

 Linda met and married the love of her life and soul mate, Stanley P. Jones Sr. on December 20, 1967. They were married 49 wonderful years, which brought her two sons Stanley Jones Jr. and Byron Jones. She was a homemaker and an angel with a golden heart. Linda never met a stranger and was always giving and doing things for others, never herself. She was always working for God. Linda loved and worshiped the Lord with all of her heart and soul. When she arrived in Heaven, I believe God told her “Well done my child.”

Linda was preceded in death by her parents: EJ and Dorothy Norman; sister: Donna Newton and nephew: Donnie Gray.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years: Stanley Jones Sr.; sons: Stanley Jones Jr and wife Dana and Byron Jones and wife Gwendolyn; sister: Faye Gray of Austin, TX; aunt: Juanita Greer; a niece, two nephews and great nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends that she loved very much, as well as 6 grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She loved each of them with all of her heart: Lane, Toby, Tate, Caleb, Isaac and Jaela Jones, all of Odessa

Linda will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing or meeting this strong woman.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear."

Viewing will be held Friday evening thru Tuesday at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell. Burial will follow at the Los Angeles section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
