Jesus Manuel Rodriguez Maynez

Jesus Manuel Rodriguez Maynez, age 39, of Odessa, TX passed from this life in Presidio on Monday, March 6, 2017. He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on December 14, 1977 to Manuel and Alma Rosa (Maynez) Rodriguez. He had worked at a grocery store.

Services will be held at a later date in Mexico with interment to follow at El Ultimo Refugio. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Lucas “Nana” Gonzales Medrano

Lucas “Nana” Gonzales Medrano, 88, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Odessa, TX. She was born Thursday, March 15, 1928 in Pecos, TX to Margarita (Lujan) and Anselmo Gonzales.

As the matriarch of her family, her strength was unrelenting and although she was unable to recall everyone over the last few months, she never forgot how to pray.  She put up a great fight and was still able to lead by example in teaching her family that even in the most trying of times, it is faith that heals and surpasses all other things.  Like she always said, "Vaya con Dios y que Dios me los Bendiga."

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her three daughters:  Teresa Madrid, Rosa Martinez and Gloria Medrano; one son: Mario Medrano; one sister: Manuela Gonzales; 20 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her spouse: Simon Medrano; three sons: Manuel, Edmundo and Gregorio Medrano; one brother: Bartolo Gonzales; one sister: Josefa Gonzales; and a granddaughter: Ashley Medrano.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, March 10, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Isadore Ochiabuto.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Debra Kay Morgan, age 59, of Odessa, passed from this life in Odessa on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was born in Odessa, TX on Sunday, March 31, 1957 to the late W.J. “Dub” and Margie (Goodwin) Franklin.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Wesley Morgan and wife Lacy of Gardendale, TX; daughters: Brandy and Sandi Morgan, both of Odessa; brother: Ted Franklin of Aurora, CO; sisters: Trenna Briley of Evergreen, CO and Cynthia Stinson of Ruidoso, NM, as well as 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Mike Bartlett. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
 
William "Bill" Crothers
William "Bill" Crothers, age 78, of Goldsmith, passed from this life in Odessa on Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on March 31, 1938 to the late William and Mary (Myers) Crothers. He married Lela Duke October 22, 2004. He was a commercial electrician and was a US Army Veteran, having served in Korea and Vietnam.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Lela Duke-Crothers of Goldsmith; daughter: Amber Elaine Crothers of Nashville, TN; step-daughter: Stacy Pollock of Creston, British Columbia; step-son: Dan Duke of Modesto, CA; brother: Mitchell Crothers and sister: Sarah Crothers; and three grandchildren.

No services will be held at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Josefa Cisneros, age 76, went to be with the Lord in Odessa on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She looked forward to joining her daughter Jena. Josefa was born in Terlingua, TX on February 24, 1941 to the late Apolinaria and Ysidro Cisneros Sr.

Josefa was extraordinary and courteous to everyone. She loved her sons dearly as well as making and buying many items for her nieces. Josefa enjoyed sewing, spending time outside in the yard and had quite the collection of roosters. She will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Victor Lujan and Billy Joe Lujan; sisters: Maria Luisa Rivera, Blasa Lara, Lupe Sanchez, Teresa Cisneros, Marie Devore and Juanita Hernandez; brothers: Celestino Cisneros, Alvino Cisneros, Ysidro Cisneros Jr and Mike Cisneros; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Jena Lujan; sister: Manuela Subia; brother: Ricky Cisneros.

Maria de Jesus Anchondo, age 98, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life in Odessa on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was born in San Andres, Chihuahua, Mexico on Thursday, July 25, 1918 to the late Maximino and Manuela (Palacios) Granados.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Roberto Anchondo Jr.; daughters: Hilda Hernandez, Eva Hernandez and husband Augustin, Ana Molina and husband Miguel; brother: Nicolas Granados; sister: Manuela Granados; as well as 26 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren, one on the way and 14 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Roberto Anchondo; daughter: Josefina Anchondo; brothers: Ramon and Maximus Granados; sisters: Martha, Socorro, Carmelita, Josefa and Maria; grandsons: Roy Hernandez and Eric Rendon and granddaughters: Lourdes Anchondo and Marisela Jimenez.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Rosehill section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Cruz (Orona) Carbajal, age 76, of Odessa, TX passed from this life in Odessa, TX on Friday, March 10, 2017. She was born in Presidio, TX on Friday, May 3, 1940 to Pedro and Isabel (Cisneros) Orona.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Cecilio Rodriguez and wife Maria, Eloy Carbajal and wife Angela, Pedro Carbajal and wife Rocio and Jose Carbajal and wife Lupe; daughters: Ramona Orona and husband Santiago, Maria Mendoza, Dolores Gavaldon and husband Jesus and Angelica Olivas; brothers: Pedro , Vincente, Gabriel, and Jesus Orona; sister: Consuelo Pena; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Pilar Carbajal; son: Felipe Rodriguez and brothers: Jose and Teodolo Orona.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, March 13, 2017 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Diane Jackson Barton, age 73, passed from this life at her home in Odessa on March 11, 2017. She was born in Commerce, TX on May 31, 1943 to the late D. D. and Virginia (Sanders) Jackson.  She worked as a caregiver.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son, Steven Barton and wife Beatriz of Odessa; four grandchildren:  Jacob Luna, Jessyca Vera, Jennifer Perez, and Christopher Sanchez; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Barton.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Phil Skelton.  Interment will be privately held at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

After a short battle with cancer, Phil Mac Badgwell died on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Odessa, TX at the age of 65.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his beloved wife: Jody (Vasek) Badgwell; sons: Phil Mac Badgwell II, Justin Badgwell and Jared Stracener and wife Shellie; daughter: Racquel Yi and husband Won; sister: Dena Brooks and husband Mike; 8 grandchildren: Kim Lopez and husband Hunter, Briohna Stracener, Ehren Chambers, Noah Stracener, Alex Badgwell, Kezi Badgwell, Hunter Badgwell and Macinley Badgwell and 3 great-grandchildren: Allison, Abbey and Jaiden.

Phil was born Thursday, April 19, 1951 in Odessa to the late Clint and Eula Betty Jo (Strickland) Badgwell. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1969, and then served his country in the United States Army. He also attended Odessa College earning an Associate’s degree in business. Phil was the manager of U.S. Automax for 29 years. He was always ready for a poker game with his friends or to play with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are all spoiled rotten because of their PaPa.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 18, 2017 at West Side Christian Church, officiated by Pastor Farrell Ard. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Judith Faith (Lester) Fischer

Judith Faith (Lester) Fischer, age 72, of Odessa, TX passed from this life in Odessa on Monday, March 13, 2017. She was born in Baton Rouge, LA on May 29, 1944 to the late Vaughn Taylor Lester and Ethel Louise Sivey.  Judith was a seamstress and had worked for Katalina Swimwear.  She has also worked many years at several motels and hotels as housekeeper and night auditor.  Her colorful career also included managing several local bars (including Boot Scooter) and work as a dog groomer for Dawn's Grooming Inc.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: James Fischer Jr and Edward A.F. Fischer and wife Sara; daughters: Cheryl Lyn Erwin Medcalf and husband Walter and Eleanor Lucille Roe and husband Joseph; grandchildren:  Charles Fischer Sr. and wife Rachel, Priscilla Vinet and husband Cade Morris, Sabrina Thompson and husband Jackie, Tiffany Evans and husband Jared, Matthew Milligan, Joseph Roe III, Diesel Roe, Briteny Chappel and husband Baily, Jessica Fischer, James Fischer Jr., Hailey Fischer, Triston Fischer, Blake Fischer, Edward Fischer Jr., Jasmine Fischer, and great-grandchildren:  Zachery Taylor, Bryleigh Scott, Dylan Collier, Charles Fischer Jr., Landon Evans, Aeriana Fischer, Eric Chappel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Jack Rudd; son:  Jerry McBee Jr., brothers: Perry Lester and William "Bill" Lester; and sisters: Martha Wood, Mary Rhoman, Cicillia Butchee, Dorothy Lane and Ninna Poe.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Mike Bartlett.

Don Lee Elliott, age 70, of Odessa, passed from this life at Buena Vida Nursing Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. He was born in Pecos, TX on Saturday, July 20, 1946 to the late Rufus Adril "Bill" Elliott and Emma Lena (Tilley) Elliott.  Don had retired from service in the US Navy, having served during the Vietnam War, earning a Bronze Star.  He had also retired from working at Walmart.  Following retirement, Don won the lottery and moved to Las Vegas.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sisters:  Sandra Elliott and Shirley Elliott, both of Odessa; brothers:  Jerry Elliott and wife Donna of Fleming Island, FL and Billy Elliott and wife Paulette of Payette, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond Rueles Camacho, age 86, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at his home in Odessa on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. He was born in Ranger, TX on January 8, 1941 to the late Gregorio Reynosa and Petra Ruelas Camacho.  He was self-employed, owner/operator of Amco and had served during the Korean War in the Coast Guard.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: Fred Camacho and wife Tashya of Odessa.

Lavona Lee (Kaker) Everhart, age 70, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Madison Medical Resort on Thursday, March 16, 2017. She was born on Friday, August 9, 1946 to the late Harry and Wilma (Bevill) Kaker.  She had retired from working in the administrative offices at Odessa College.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sisters-in-law: Augusta Burton and husband Wayne of Odessa, Tammie Boehm of Jal, NM, Linda O'Rear and husband Jimmy of Jal, NM, and Donna Everhart of Odessa; and grandchildren: Devin and Ryann Everhart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: James William Everhart and son: James Dewie Everhart.
