Celia T. Carrasco
Celia T. Carrasco

Celia T. Carrasco, age 87, of Odessa, passed away at Continue Care Hospital in Odessa on Thursday, March 30, 2017.  She was born in San Juan, Ojinaga, Mexico on June 20, 1929 to the late Sixto and Francisca (Escontrias) Tercero.  She was a homemaker.

Celia is survived by five sons:  Francisco "Kiko" Carrasco of Eunice, NM, Javier Carrasco of Odessa, Adolfo Carrasco and Valentine Carrasco, both of Ojinaga, and Mario Carrasco of Odessa; two daughters:  Rosa Licon of Hobbs, NM and Romelia Carrasco of Odessa; four brothers; three sisters; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Her parents, her husband:  Benigno Carrasco, two sons and two daughters, precede her in death.

Funeral services will be at a later date in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico with burial to follow at Vado de Piedra.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

Royce Wayne Barnhart

Royce Wayne Barnhart, age 66, of Odessa, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.  He was born in Odessa on Sunday, December 24, 1950 to the late Roy C. and Thelma Faye (Glidewell) Barnhart.  He married his beloved, Lequietta Joy "Quietta" Dowling in Odessa on September 22, 1995.  She preceded him in death February 7, 2016.  Royce was a master electrician.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his brother:  Tim Barnhart of Odessa; son:  Randy McDorman of Odessa; daughters:  Brenda Huffty of Odessa and Lacy Barnhart of Washington; son:  Royce Wayne Barnhart, Jr. of Corpus Christie; sister:  Patricia Kennedy of Odessa; grandchildren:  Kevin McDorman of Dallas, Dustin Brown of Midland, and Clinton Huffty of Dallas; three great-grandchildren:  Madi, Peyton and Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His beloved wife:  Lequietta Barnhart; mom:  Thelma Barnhart; father:  Roy C. Barnhart; sister:  Gayle Smith; and brother:  Jim Barnhart, precede him in death.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Braswell.  Interment will follow at Odessa II Garden Section of Ector County Cemetery, where he and Quietta will be laid to rest together.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Graciela (Bustamante) Pardo

Graciela (Bustamante) Pardo, age 65, of Midland, TX, passed from this life at Midland Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 31, 2017. She was born in Manuel Benavides, MX on Tuesday, March 18, 1952 to the late Braulio and Paula (Flores) Bustamante.

Services will be held in Ojinaga, Mexico at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Susie Jane Whitfeldt

Susie Jane Whitfeldt, age 65, of Odessa, passed away at Odessa Regional Medical Center on Friday, March 31, 2017.  She was born in Abilene, TX on Sunday June 10, 1951 to Lonnie and Velma (Starnes) Neatherlin.  Susie married Rod Whitfeldt in Friday Harbor, WA on December 9, 1995.  She was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Rod Whitfeldt of Odessa; sons:  Dustin Rimes of McKinney and Lonnie Rimes of Celina; step-mother:  Mary Neatherlin; brothers:  Terry Neatherlin and Milton Neatherlin; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother:  Velma Starnes; father:  Lonnie Neatherlin; and brother:  Lonnie Neatherlin, Jr.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Patricia Vion (Smith) Council

Patricia Vion (Smith) Council went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the age of 79.  She was born in Finley, OK on October 23, 1937 to the late Bill and Nena (Hogan) Smith and attended Finley and Antlers public schools.

Pat met the love of her life, Claud Wayne Council while he was home on leave from the Navy.  The met at the local Tastee Freeze where she commented, "I'm going to marry that guy."  They were married March 31, 1958 in Hugo, OK.

Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, one son:  Claud Wayne Council, Jr, and a daughter:  Sheila Cessna.

She is survived by one daughter:  Shelley Traywick and husband Eddie of Odessa, TX, grandchildren:  Rosa Lee Billy and husband Steve, Bryan Council, Michael Cessna, Brittany Cessna, Brandan Cessna, and Cory Cessna, all of Antlers, OK.  She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren:  Titus, Gabrielle, Christian, Camden, and Jet, also of Antlers, OK.

Memorial and prayer service with pot luck dinner to follow will be at the Traywick home,(message Shelley Traywick for address) if you would like to attend or bring a dish. Memorial service will be officiated by Sister Dorothy Temple on Sunday April 9, 2017 around 4:00 pm.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. Luis Sandoval Serrano

Luis Sandoval Serrano, age 67, of Andrews, TX passed away in Ruidosa, TX on Friday, March 31, 2017.  Luis was born in Mexico on November 28, 1949 to the late Juan and Maria Ines (Sandoval) Serrano.  Luis married Guadalupe Sanchez in Andrews, TX on July 11, 2016.  He was good with his hands and worked his whole life in construction. 

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Guadalupe Serrano of Andrews:  son:  Luis Serrano, Jr. of Abilene; daughter:  Louisa Serrano of Abilene; brothers:  Rafael Serrano of Lovington, NM, Pablo Serrano Porfirio Serrano, and Benjamin Serrano, all of Presidio, Jaime Serrano of Hobbs, NM, and Victor Serrano of Lovington, NM; sisters:  Aida Serrano of Gardendale and Elena Olivas of Odessa; grandchildren:  Luis Serrano III, Alyssa Celeste Hinojosa, Amanda Danielle Hinojosa, Ashley Marie Hinojosa; and great-grandchildren:  Virginia Navaeh De Los Santos and Serenity Serrano.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings:  David Serrano, Librado Serrano, and Bibiana Carrasco.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Narciso Gomez.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

David Alan White, age 44, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Friday, March 31, 2017. He was born in Odessa on Thursday, May 11, 1972 to Howard Leroy and Diana Claire (Bartleson) White.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: Jaden White; daughter: Nakyah White; mother: Diana White; brother: Jimmy White and wife Jennifer and sisters: Michele James and Nicole Steele and her husband Travis.

He was preceded in death by his father: Howard Leroy White.

Memorial Services will be held at Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 8, 2017, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Phyllis Janice "Jan" Davis

Heaven gained another angel on April 1, 2017 in Odessa, Texas. Phyllis Janice "Jan" Davis was born on February 27, 1940 in Ooltewah, TN to Frank and Estelle Johns.  

As a young woman, she taught ballroom dancing for Arthur Murray and loved to dance. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years and was frequently seen playing Bingo at area Bingo Halls and at the Eagles Lodge where she was a member. She was an avid Facebooker and had many Internet friends. She enjoyed her Bible studies and was part of an online ladies religious group called Ruth Sisters.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Tamara Strutz and her grandson, Timothy Hardy.  

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 40 years Howard “Cowboy” Davis; her children, Therese (Allen) Archer of Marble Falls, TX, Tommie (Ty) Wemken of Odessa, Renee (Mitch) Hawkins of Tyler, TX, and Howard Davis and Christopher (Rachel) Davis, all of England; her sisters, Lucy Parrott of Crossville, TN, Earlene "Ressie" Knutty of Adolpus, KY, Jean West of The Village, FL,  and her brother, Dale Johns of Ooltewah, TN;  13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family wants to express their thanks to Medical Center Hospital, Sienna Nursing home and Home Hospice for all the care provided during her last days. Acres West Funeral Home is in charge of providing her final wishes of cremation. A private family memorial will occur as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers the family would like to encourage a donation to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association (for members of our family who suffered with this disease).

Lillian Faye Cummings

Lillian Faye Cummings, age 61, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation in Lubbock, TX on Friday, April 1, 2017. She was born in Woodville, TX on August 8, 1955 to Itus Vivan and Nellie Jean (Flinn) Franks. She married Louis Edward Cummings in Crocket, TX on March 6, 1972.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her beloved husband of 45 years: Louis Cummings of Odessa; sons: John Cummings and wife Jeanette; Steven Cummings and wife Andrea; Louis Cummings Jr. and wife Amber and Travis Cummings; daughters: Renee Neer, Latonya Williams and husband David, Emily Palmer and husband Ben and Teresa Nance and husband Randy; mother: Nellie Frank; brothers: Ronnie Franks and wife Stacey and Aubrey Franks and wife Cheryl; sisters: Donna Hood, Anita Marsh and husband Mike, Dorothy and her husband Frank McClain and Darlene Alonzo and husband Luis and Marie Jamieson; as well as 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father: Itus Vivian Franks.

Family visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Services will be held privately at a later date by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Climmie Washington Draughan, age 64, of Odessa, TX passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Saturday, April 1, 2017. She was born in Camden, AR on Tuesday, April 25, 1952 to Henry and Ruth (McGee) Washington.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her brother: Jimmy Washington

She was preceded in death by her brother: Henry Washington Jr. and sisters: Mary Jones, Ella Hambrick and Doris Evans.

Calistro Carrillo
Calistro Ortiz Carrillo
Calistro Ortiz Carrillo, 35, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Odessa. He was born December 1, 1981 in Odessa to Leobardo and Maria Gloria (Ortiz) Carrillo.

Calistro was, first and foremost, a man who loved God. He loved his family deeply and was a wonderful husband and father. He was a very happy, good, and loveable person who had many friends. He was also high-spirited, joking and playful and was wise beyond his years. Calistro would not stop trying something until he perfected it. He was a talented and dedicated musician and spent the last 14 years playing drums for the Norteño Christian band, Grupo VII.

He is survived by his wife, Isabel Carrillo; sons, Abram Calistro Carrillo and Caleb Carrillo; daughter, Belisa Carrillo; parents, Leobardo and Maria Gloria Carrillo; grandmother, Mariaelena Carrillo; grandfather, Sotero Mata; brothers, Ricardo Carrillo (Rocio), Gerardo Carrillo (Norma), and Marcos Carrillo; and countless extended family members, band mates, and friends.

A prayer service will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 at 6:00 pm at Iglesia de Poder y Restauración (11300 W. University). Funeral services will be Monday, April 10, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Iglesia de Poder y Restauración followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
