Our little angel, Ryder Pride Collins was born and whisked away to the arms of Jesus in Odessa on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

Those left to cherish his love are his parents: Brandy Lea (King) and Phillip Ray Collins; one brother: Mikal Kahm; four sisters: Andrya Kahm, Alexis Cupps, Shyla Collins and Piper Collins; paternal grandparents: Allen and Imer Collins, Lenee and Randy Grice; and maternal grandparents: Wesley and Suzie King.

Albert "Elvis" Bustamante Alvarez Sr

Albert "Elvis" Bustamante Alvarez Sr. age 66, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life on Thursday, June 8, 2017. He was born in Pecos, TX on May 3, 1951 to Jose G. and Dolores (Bustamante) Alvarez.

Albert loved singing and dancing to music, but he especially loved Elvis. He also enjoyed spending time with all of his family and will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: Albert Alvarez Jr. of Fort Collins, CO; brothers: Oscar Alvarez (Judy) of Kyle, TX, Arturo Alvarez (Elizabeth), Abel Alvarez (Melissa), Raul Alvarez and Jose Alvarez Jr. (Juanita), all of Odessa, TX; sisters: Socorro Gonzalez (Rafael) of Denver, CO, Dolores Rodriguez, Imelda Sandate (Paul), Nora Luna (Sammy), Yolanda Pulido (Lupe) and Sara Alvarez, Irma Alvarado (Roman), Mary Munoz (Javier) and Estella Hernandez, all of Odessa, TX and grandchild: Vincent Lee Alvarez.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son: Ruben Alvarez.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, June 12, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Odessa Garden II section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

W.L. "Leroy" "Pa" Castleberry
W.L. "Pa" Castleberry of Odessa, Texas passed away Friday June 9, 2017 at his home. Leroy was born Feb. 21, 1939 in Loco, Oklahoma to Dow Bob and Josie (Barber) Castleberry. He married the love of his life Gwen Turner Nov. 1, 1957.

Pa was a contract welder in the West Texas oilfields. He was one of the hardest working men you've ever met. He started work at the family dairy at age 6 & continued to work limited side jobs up until the day of his death.
As a younger man, Pa raced his stock cars & enjoyed his Harley rides. He loved to garden, fish, work and have coffee with his buddies every morning, but most of all he loved his family with all his heart.
He is survived by his children: Darrell Castleberry of Odessa, Debra Minchey of Arkansas & Donna Hazard of Odessa, TX; sister: Gayla (Harrell) Stowers; brother: Jimmy (Emma) Castleberry of Lake Dallas, TX; as well as grandchildren: Chad Payne, Casey (Randy) Alexander, all of Odessa and Krista (Scott) Wielhe of Ft. Worth, Shane Minchey (LaVenda) of Arkansas, Nicole (Taylor) Stein, all of OK, Tye Castleberry of Austin, TX, Chance Castleberry of Corpus Christi, TX, Lyndsey Castleberry of Whitewright, TX; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years: Gwen Castleberry; parents: Dow & Josie Castleberry of Madill, OK and brother: Vernon Castleberry of Montana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held at Brunson Memorial Park in Eunice, New Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

James Head
James Francis Head

James Francis Head, age 71 of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Saturday, June 10, 2017. He was born in Rhode Island on Monday, October 1, 1945 to the late James Henry and Helen (Ruby) Head. He married Karen Kukuk in Michigan on January 30, 1970.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his beloved wife of 47 years: Karen Head; sons: Lonnie and Matthew Head; daughter: Heather Dodson and grandchildren: Chris Head, Mason Lance, Carey Lance, Breanna Lance, Jordan Weathermon, Byron Dodson, Jarod Dodson, Courtney Head, Ayden Lance and Greyson Sanchez.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Russell Head.

Cathy Elaine Cook

Cathy Elaine Cook, also known as “Kitty Cat”, age 53, of Midland, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 11, 2017.  She was born in Midland on October 18, 1963 to John L. Cook, Sr. and the late Mae Dell (Griffin) Cook. 

Cathy was a loving, nurturing and devoted caretaker. She was a dedicated employee at Manor Park for several years. Cathy was kind, beloved and adored by all who knew her. She was treasured by all of her family and friends, especially Ethel Shaw, Kolishia Washington, Leonard Porter, Mary Mitchell and Carolyn “Shorty”. Bingo was her favorite hobby.

Cathy is survived by her father: John Cook Sr. of Midland; daughters:  Markeshia McGee of Midland (daughter of the late Mr. Mark McGee); husband:  Felix Martinez Sr. and his children - three sons:  Felix Martinez Jr. of Midland, and John Michael Martinez and Freddy Martinez, both of Lubbock; and Lisa Ortega of Midland; sisters:  Linda Griffin of Midland, Alice Faye Rivers of Houston, Pearl Cook Pratt of Austin and Willie Faye Ennis of Midland; her precious grandmother: Mrs. Mary Lee Ennis of Austin and great nephew: Branson Stott; as well as dearly loved grandchildren:  Jerimiah McGee, Samiah McGee, Mae Joy McGee and Ashley Benavidez, all of Midland and Joseph Ruiz of Lubbock; five step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother:  Mae Dell Griffin; brother:  John L. Cook, Jr.; great aunt: Etta Brunson; aunts: Odessa Griffin-Webb and Zollar Griffin; uncles: Herman Griffin, George Cook and Billy Ray Ennis; grandfathers: Mr. Otis Ennis and Mr. Robert Cook and a very dear nephew: Corey Ennis.

Viewing will be held Thursday & Friday, June 15-16, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Wake will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, June 16, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 am at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West.

Wilma Elizabeth Alford, age 64, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Monday, June 12, 2017. She was born in Odessa, TX on October 1, 1952 to the late W.J. Alford and Geraldine McCarty.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Bryan Jeffcoat; daughter: Beth Dupree; brother: Reily McAfee; sisters: Sherry and Gail Alford; grandchildren: Satessa and Maggie Duke and Blake and Cameron Jeffcoat and her beloved service dog: Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Dale McAfee.

Zenaida Ontiveros Gonzalez, age 52, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. She was born in Ojinaga, MX on June 5, 1965 to the late Pedro Ontiveros Luna and Gabina Gonzalez.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Ismael Garcia; daughters: Mercedes Melchor, Ivonne Garcia, Reyna Garcia, Gabina Garcia and Heidy Garcia; brothers: Jose and Manuel Ontiveros; sisters: Rosa, Rosario, Olga, Manuela, Elizabeth and Aracely Ontiveros; and ten grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date in Mexico with burial to follow at Colinas del Eden, Ojinaga Chihuahua, Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Terry Lynn McCollum

Terry Lynn McCollum, age 70, of Odessa, TX passed away in Forrest City, AR on June 16, 2017.  He was born in Carmi, IL to Alton Ray McCollum and Joyce Witty (Lowe) McCollum on July 31, 1947.  He was a pipe inspector in the oil and gas industry.

Terry is survived by his siblings:  David McCollum and wife Cyndi, Robert McCollum and wife Dee Dee, Charles McCollum and wife Cathy, Jimmy McCollum, Cathy Terry, and Barbara Hallmark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His parents and siblings:  Patsy and Danny McCollum, preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be privately held with interment at Crane Memorial Cemetery in Crane, Texas.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Ricky Mack Snedegar, age 61, of Odessa, TX passed away from a battle with cancer on Saturday, June 17, 2017. He was born Wednesday, October 12, 1955 in Odessa, TX to the late Frances (Patton) and Johnny Mack Snedegar.

Ricky enjoyed watching westerns, scary movies and NHRA drag races. He collected anything with wolves and loved to enjoy a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and Gandy’s milk. Ricky retired from Medical Center Hospital after twenty-nine years as a machine operator in the laundry department.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Ruth (Goyne) Snedegar; one daughter: Dawn McCrory; two step-sons: Jeff and Roy Sample; one brother: Gary Snedegar; six grandchildren and his beloved dog Santana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, Officiated by Dr. Tony Henson. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy Ann Anders, age 85, of San Angelo, TX, passed from this life on Saturday, June 17, 2017. She was born in Jones County, TX on Thursday, July 9, 1931 to the late Benjamin Edgar Griggs and Clonie Dorothy Ruff.

She was preceded by her beloved husband Winfred Odell Anders and her parents.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Flonoia Lee "Gil" Gilstrap

Flonoia Lee Gilstrap, 80, of Odessa passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Odessa. He was born Tuesday, October 23, 1936 in Crane, TX to the late Monnie Marie (Collard) and Clement Howard Gilstrap.  Gil was a US Army Veteran and had been on the West Point Rifle Team.  He was a plant operator for General Tire.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his daughter: Tana Samford; eight grandchildren: Barby Shahan, William Biles, Sherrie Biles, Amanda Samford, Chance Endsley, Rilee Hinson and Jolynn Price; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse: Barbara Gilstrap; four sons: Jimmy Biles, Eddie Joe Biles, and  Todd Biles; one brother: Lamar Gilstrapl;  and twin sisters.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, June 24, 2017 at Crane Memorial Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Larry Hood. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Vanessa Maybelle Long, 47, of Odessa passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Odessa, TX. She was born Monday, December 29, 1969 in Weatherford, TX to Annie Bernice (Holman) and Harvey Christian.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her beloved husband of 30 years: Michael Long Sr.; sons: Michael Long Jr.; Joseph Long and David Long; brothers: Gary Christian of Weatherford and Tommy Joe Christian of Mineral Wells; father: Harvey Christian; sisters: Doris Boiles of Midland, Janet Huston of Stephenville and Darla Drake of Midland; six grandchildren: Michael Long III; Bailey Long; Anthony Long; Hayden Long; Hunter Long and Heavyn Long.

She was preceded in death by her mother and brothers: Jackie and James Christian.
