Chainey Darren Whitacre

Chainey Darren Whitacre, age 55, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life on Thursday, June 22, 2017. He was born on Friday, August 11, 1961 to the late Arthur Edwin Whitacre and Edna Pearl Hammon. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force.  He was also a Hospital Visiting Pastor and an Associate Pastor at Mt. Zion.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his beloved wife: Patricia Whitacre; sister: Billie Foster; sons: James Whitacre, Shaughn Norton and Michael Norton; daughters: Natalie Whitacre and Troylene Moyer; brother: Charley Whitacre; as well as numerous grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son: David Dodd; brother: Don Lynn and sister: Glenda.

No services have been scheduled at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Phillip Stanley
Phillip David Stanley

Phillip David Stanley, age 67, of Odessa, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 25, 2017. He was born in Breckenridge, TX on January 15, 1950 to the late Newt and Lois (McCullough) Stanley.  Phillip was a construction superintendent and welder for over 50 years.

He was a hardworking man that loved taking care of his family.  He traveled a lot with his work and made friends all across the Southern states.  He loved to garden, fish, B-B-Q, and cook in general.  He could grow roses like no other.  He would barbecue for family and coworkers and was known to take some of his coworkers under his wing and mentor them, treating them like family.  His fried catfish was the best you ever tasted.  Towards the end of his life, he got the chance to slow down and enjoy some of the things he loved, such as fishing and making such good friends with his neighbors that even a particular raccoon would come to visit him every evening.

Mr. Stanley is survived by his wife and companion of 17 years, Ilene Booth of Odessa; four daughters:  Lynetta Neeland of Livingston, Brandy Stanley of Midland, Misty Lamb and husband Billy of Odessa, and Shannon Cross and husband Zach of Gonzales; two brothers:  Curtis Stanley and wife Shawna of Caldwell and Rick Stanley of Anson; three sisters:  Patsy Griffith of Cisco, Janet Guynes and husband James of Gainesville, and Anita Carpenter and husband Wayne of Rye; grandchildren:  Andrew Neeland, Tristin Stanley, Montana Anderson, Bobby Anderson, JC Cross, Ben Cross, Skai Lamb, Greg Slaughter, Taylor Stanley, Blake Stanley, and Kaleb Stanley; and great-grandchildren:  Aidyn, Jude, Brayson, Cailin, Emilie, and Lillie.

Memorial services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Mike Bartlett.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Patrick Les Catoe
Patrick Leslie "Les" Catoe

Patrick Leslie "Les" Catoe, age 72, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Friday, June 23, 2017. He was born in Kershaw, SC on Monday, September 18, 1944 to the late Charlie Catoe and Helena (Poovey) Catoe.  He was self employed as a welder and was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Vickey Catoe; sons: Patrick Daniel Catoe and wife Lori Kunkel of Odessa, Roger Winkler, David Winkler and Jackie Fowler, all of Odessa, and Brian DeLong of Graham; daughter: Ivy DeLong of Brownwood; and grandchildren: Patrick Jesse Catoe, Tanner Kunkel, Hailie DeLong, Savanah Harden, Travis Fowler, Austin Winkler and Christopher Miranda.

Memorial services with military honors will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor Larry Hood.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West.

Jose Ivan Hinostroza
Jose Ivan Hinostroza

Jose Ivan Hinostroza, age 20, was taken away suddenly to his Heavenly home on Friday, June 23, 2017.  He was born in Odessa on February 8, 1997 to Jose S. Hinostroza and Bilma Y. (Espinoza) Bustamante.  He had been working for Basic Energy.

Ivan “Pelon” as many of his friends called him was full of life. He loved to spend time with his family and friends but more importantly he loved to spend time with his girlfriend Lesley. Ivan was kind hearted, humble and full of laughter. He always had a smile on his face and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Ivan had recently started a new job with Basic Energy for which his Dad worked, where he enjoyed learning and spending quality time with him.

Ivan is survived by his father:  Jose Hinostroza and wife Lillian of Ft. Stockton; mother:  Bilma Bustamante and husband Domingo of Odessa; brother:  Santiago Espinoza; six sisters:  Marimar Hinostroza, Alexia Hinostroza, Anahi Hinostroza, Lizzette Rodriguez, Natalia Hinostroza, and Nayeli Hinostroza and grandparents: Lidia and Lucio Espinoza and Jose and Enedina Hinostroza.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 27 th and a rosary service will be at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel in Odessa at 7:00 pm.  Visitation will transfer to Ft. Stockton on Wednesday and will be at Trunfo de la Fe at 606 N. Colpitts with viewing to begin at 10:00 am and a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ft. Stockton on Thursday, June 29, 2017, officiated by Father Serafin Avenido.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Gerardo Rodriguez Fuentes III, age 44, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Saturday, June 24, 2017. He was born in Fort Stockton, TX on October 13, 1972 to Gerardo Fuentes Jr. and Andrea Rodriguez Gomez.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his mother: Andrea Gomez (Tomas); sons: Gerardo Fuentes IV (JosieLynne) and Isaac Fuentes; daughter: Amanda Fuentes; brothers: Tomas Gomez Jr., David Gomez (Caroline) and Daniel Gomez (Ivett); sisters: Linda Scarborough (Jason), Anita Espinoza (Lupe), Leonore Moreno and Aurora Casarez; as well as 6 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father: Gerardo Fuentes Jr.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Odessa Garden II section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Michael Manning
Michael David Manning

Michael David Manning, age 48, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Saturday, June 24, 2017. He was born Monday, March 24, 1969 in El Monte, CA to Carol Shay and Dale Manning. Michael loved riding and tinkering with his motorcycle. He loved his wife Rosie and his children. He enjoyed the ocean, fishing, skateboarding, and trying his luck at the game rooms. Michael was a talented wood worker and furniture maker.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Rosie Castro; his parents: Dale Manning and wife Rebecca; Carol Minjarez and husband Daniel; two sons: Joshua David Manning and Ricardo Lujan; one daughter: Michelle Dawn Manning and two brothers: Paul Jay Manning and Brian Manning.

Memorial services for Michael will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 9:00 am, Friday, June 30, 2017 in the Los Angeles section of Ector County Cemetery. Pastor Jimmy Dennis will officiate.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Thomas Jerly Eaton

Thomas Jerly Eaton, age 84, of Big Spring passed away at Laman-Lusk-Sanchez State Veteran's Home in Big Spring on June 24, 2017.  He was born in Longview, TX on July 1, 1932 to the late Thomas Johnson and Nova (King) Eaton.  He was a US Marines Veteran.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 10:00 am on Friday, June 30, 2017 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Mario Calanche
Mario Nieto Calanche

Mario Nieto Calanche, 55, of Odessa, TX passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 in Odessa, TX. He was born Wednesday, February 28, 1962 in La Paz de Mexico, Chihuahua, MX to Andrea (Nieto) and Julian Calanche. Mario was a very loving man. He enjoyed working as a derrick hand in the oilfield and spending time with his horses and other animals. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.  

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his father: Julian Calanche; one son: Mario Calanche Jr. and wife Isabel; three daughters: Maria Lidia Munoz and husband Jesus, Vanessa Munoz and husband Noe and Jasmine Calanche; two brothers: Ciro Calanche and Martin Calanche; four sisters: Socorro Valencia, Romana Calanche, Gloria Quinones and Leticia Medrano; plus thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Andrea Calanche and his wife: Rosa (Torres) Calanche.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and interment will follow at Odessa Gardens II section of the Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Christine Herrera

Christine Herrera, age 47, of Iraan, TX passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.  She was born in Richmond, TX on September 8, 1969 to Alvaro and Lucia (Ybarra) Herrera.

Services will be privately held by the family.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Candelaria (Hernandez) Ulate

Candelaria (Hernandez) Ulate, age 75, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Thursday, June 29, 2017. She was born in Paredes, Chihuahua, Mexico on Monday, February 2, 1942 to Marciano Monroy and Beatriz (Garcia) Hernandez.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Edward Ulate (Melinda Orona); father: Marciano Hernandez; brothers: Erasmo Hernandez, Julio Hernandez, and Tony; sister: Angie Garcia; six grandchildren: Christina Soto, Edward Ulate, Jr., David Ulate, Chris Guerrero, Megan Garcia, and John Michael Ulate; and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband: Juan Ulate and mother: Beatriz Hernandez.

Rosary will be held Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 10 AM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, followed by cremation. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
