Mauro Anaya

Mauro Anaya, age 61, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Friday, June 30, 2017. He was born in Potrero de Llano, Chihuahua, Mexico on Sunday, January 15, 1956 to the late Fermin Anaya Jasso and Maria Aguilar Holguin.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sons: Mario Anaya and wife Britania and Victor Anaya; daughters: Vanessa Anaya and husband Cristian Casas, Brisa Selena Anaya, Anabell Anaya and Selena Anaya; brothers: Macario, Ramon, Fermin, Jose Dolores, Jose, Isabel and Rogelio Anaya; sisters: Delia Cruz, Josefina Anaya, Sofia Pina, Lucila Renteria, Azucena Vasquez and Genoveva Quinonez and one grandchild: Arian Casas.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Elvira Mata Calderon and parents.

Services will be held at a later date in Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Marcie Bush

Marcie Bush, age 45, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Friday, June 30, 2017. She was born in Odessa, TX on Tuesday, October 12, 1971 to Don and Gynith (Walter) Bush at Medical Center Hospital.

Marcie attended Regan, Nimitz and Permian High School. She also got a degree from Odessa College. Marcie was active in the Odessa Jaycees for years. She made many friends at work as well. Marcie worked for the state of Texas for 9 years. She never met a stranger and was always happy, even though she had many health conditions. 

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her mother: Gynith Bush; sister: Denise Brandon (Bruce) and nephew: Colton Brandon.

She was preceded in death by her father: Don Bush.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an organization or charity of your choice.

Patricia Ann Garcia

Patricia Ann Garcia, age 59, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Saturday, July 1, 2017. She was born in Carlsbad, NM on January, 21, 1958 to Daniel and Isabelle (Duran) Fernandez.

Patricia was a hard worker. She worked for Images Embroidery for 17 years. Patricia was a very happy person and everyone knew her from her contagious, unique and infectious laugh. She loved her kids, grandkids and everyone she knew. Patricia was also a very helpful, generous and had a big heart. She enjoyed traveling every chance she got.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Patrick Michael Garcia (Tasha) and Armando Garcia; daughter: Terri Ann Garcia (Brett Boyd); mother: Isabelle Fernandez; sisters: Marie Aleman (Jose) and Carmen Attaway (Eddie); as well as 5 grandchildren: Jonathan Chavez, Alyc Garcia, Devin Chavez, Armando Garcia Jr. and Nathan Garcia and 1 great-grandchild: King Chavez.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Patrick R. Garcia; father: Daniel Fernandez.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 7, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Juan Carlos Molina, age 24, of Odessa, Passed from this life on Friday, June 30, 2017. He was born in Odessa, TX on Wednesday, December 2, 1992 to Julian and Enedelia (Renteria) Molina.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sons: Julian Hector and Juan Elijah Molina, both of Odessa; daughters: Alazay and Audrey Molina, both of Odessa; parents: Julian and Enedelia Molina; maternal grandmother: Francisca Renteria of Mexico; paternal grandmother: Emilia Molina of Odessa; brothers: Julio and Julian Jr. Molina, both of Odessa; sisters: Dulce and Cynthia Molina, both of Odessa; as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Acres West 24 Hour Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Aaron Garrett Briswalter

Aaron Garrett Briswalter, age 39, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Saturday, July 1, 2017. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on June 1, 1978.

Aaron was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. He was saved by the grace of God and turned his life around. Aaron was a devoted and loving father of four sons. He loved his sons and was a loyal friend to so many. Aaron loved to garden and he made the best hot sauce out of the vegetables from his crops. Aaron enjoyed doing many things with his boys, including carving pumpkins. He was a great dad and father to so many. We will miss him, but because of faith in Jesus, we are confident we will see him again.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sons: Aaron, Isaiah, Caleb and Anthony Briswalter; mother: Dee Briswalter; grandmother: Sarah Beth Branyon.

Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Redemption Church, officiated by Pastor Josh Green and Pastor Tanner House. Gwendolyn Ladell Dukes "MiMi"

Gwendolyn Ladell Dukes "MiMi", age 78, of Odessa, TX went from being an angel on earth to being an angel in Heaven on Sunday, July 2, 2017. She began her earthly journey in Sweetwater, TX on September 2, 1938, born to the late Fred and AnnaBelle (Davis) Bassham.  Gwen married Don Dukes in Crane, TX on February 22, 1958 and they enjoyed over 59 years together.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband:  Don Dukes of Odessa; two daughters:  Donna Lynn Dukes Carroll of Big Spring and Debra Loren Dukes Woods of Odessa; two sisters:  Karen Christie and husband Ronny of Tyler and Linda Rhoton and husband Craig of Eastland; four grandchildren:  Maranda Keen, Lindsey Ortega and husband William of California, Elisha McKinney of Ft. Worth, and Shae Jacquez and husband Geno of Big Spring; and two great- grandchildren:  Ava Ortega and Gage Carroll.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Bettye Williams, and a great-granddaughter, Leighla Rain Jacquez.

Memorial services will be at West University Church of Christ in Odessa on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10:00 am.  Doug Doyle and Craig Rhoton will officiate.  Interment will be privately held at the Texas State Veteran's Cemetery at Abilene.

Tomasa Ortega

Tomasa Ortega, age 79, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born in La Paz, Chihuahua, Mexico on Wednesday, December 29, 1937 to the late Ambrosio and Cecilia (Nieto) Olivas.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Oscar Ortega (Melissa) and Seferino Ortega Jr. (Yana); daughters: Modesta Cervantes (Alvarado), Estella Ortega, Rosa Ortega and Veronica Ortega; brothers: Alfonso, Irene, Florencio, Cleotilde, Loreto, Jesus, Everisto, Angel and Ramon; sister: Manuela; as well as 13 grandchildren: Alvaro Jr., Ricardo, Obed, Noe, Guadalupe, Gabby, Vanessa, Valerie, Diego, Janessa, Aracely, Paula and Hanna and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Serefino Ortega and parents.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Odessa Garden II section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Mary "Joann" Kendrix

Mary "Joann" Kendrix, age 80, of Odessa, passed from this life into eternity on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Lincoln, NE on May 10, 1937 to the late Earl Wesley and Beaulah (Walker) Sloniger.  Joann worked as a sales clerk.

She is survived by her son:  Paul Kendrix; daughter-in-law:  Louella Bryant-Green; brother:  Jimmy Sloniger; three grandchildren:  Christopher, Steven, and Shawna Kendrix; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents; two sons:  Mark and Michael Kendrix; and two siblings:  Pete Sloniger and Bayara Evans.

Visitation will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel Sunday evening, July 9, 2017 from 4 to 8:00 pm.  Graveside services will be Monday, July 10, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Odessa II Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Mike Bartlett.

Gumecinda “June” Tavarez, age 86, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life on Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born on July 4, 1930 in Mission, TX to the late Paula (Aguirre) and Rogelio Tijerina.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her two sons: Antonio Bernal and wife Cindy; Ricardo Bernal and wife Margaret; one daughter in law: Susan Bernal; nineteen grandchildren, 41 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Roberto Tavarez; one son: Steve Bernal; one daughter: Yolanda Peregrino; four brothers: Rojelio, Melchor, Enrique and Crispin Tijerina; three sisters: Rosita Ramos, Elida and Alicia Rodriguez.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 7, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Evelyne Heath
Evelyne Heath "Mam-Maw"

On Monday, July 3, 2017, Evelyne "Mam-Maw" Heath, 89, of Odessa, left this earth and got her Angel wings, where she's waltzing across heaven with her loved ones. Evelyne was born in Temple, OK to Ross and Nellie Glasgow on November 1, 1927. She grew up on the farm with her parents and nine brothers and sisters. She was a down to earth country girl, She moved to Crane, TX in the early 1960's. She was a beautician and loved fixing people s hair, that was her passion. Evelyne loved being around people, making them feel good and looking pretty was her goal. She was a great business woman with a heart of gold. Evelyne never met a stranger and everyone loved her so. She loved spending time with the family and grandkids, also loved to go dancing with the girls.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her children:  Billy Jack McGee of Ft. Worth, Latonia Jean Huckabee and husband Bill of Midland, Nancy Smylie and husband Eddie of Cloudcroft, NM, Regenia Jones and husband Jimmie of Odessa and Jerry Dale McGee and wife Caroline of San Angelo; sister:  Gale Morris and husband Ernest of Marlow, OK; thirteen grandchildren, thirty two great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was loved by all and will greatly be missed.

Her parents, eight brothers and sisters, and one great-grandson: Justin Puga, precede her in death.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Clarke Racca . Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Dementia Foundation.
