Henry Oleans "Hank" Mounce

Henry Oleans "Hank" Mounce, 73, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa on Thursday, October 12, 2017.  He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Placide and Willie Grace (O'Quinn) Mounce on July 16, 1944.  He was a US Army Veteran.

Hank is survived by his sisters:  Anna Freeman of Odessa and Deborah Schumake of Houston; and two children.

He is predeceased by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

No services will be held at this time.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jose A Mora Grado
Jose Alonso Mora Grado

Jose Alonso Mora Grado, age 37, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life unexpectedly on Friday, October 13, 2017 in Andrews, TX due to an auto accident. He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on June 17, 1980 to Jose Maria Mora and Concepcion Grado. He was a contractor.  Jose loved horses and was a huge soccer fan.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his mother: Concepcion Artalejo and husband Levo; father:  Jose Mora and wife Juana; grandmother:  Amelia Carrillo; sons:  Jesus Garcia, Josiah Mora, Jose Mora, Jr. and Isaac Carrillo; daughter:  Denise Mora; siblings:  Rogelio Grado, Moraima Mauricio, Luis Mora, Jose Mora Jr., Joshua Mora, Jovan Mora, Bryan Mora, Jasmin Mora, Bernice Artalejo, Clarisbeth Artalejo, and Danahi Artalejo; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, and two grandchildren:  Angel Zahid Ruiz and Aniyah Carrillo.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at the Odessa Gardens II Section of Ector County Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jesus Abraham Moncayo

Jesus Abraham Moncayo, 19, of Odessa, passed away in Odessa on Friday, October 13, 2017.  He was born in Odessa on January 23, 1998 to Genaro Alberto and Maria (Venegas) Moncayo. 

Jesus is survived by his father:  Genaro Moncayo and wife Luisa; mother:  Maria Moncayo; grandparents:  Maria Guzman and Epifanio Venegas; brother:  Jose Luis Moncayo; sisters:  Maricela Moncayo, Madelyn Moncayo, Jailinne Gomez; and two nieces Ailena and Catalia Rodriguez.

A Prayer service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel.  Graveside services will be on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10:00 am at Odessa II Gardens of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Guillermo Morales.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Michael W Mallard
Michael Warren Mallard

Michael Warren Mallard, 52, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at his home in Odessa, TX. He was born Sunday, March 21, 1965 in Fayetteville, NC to Amos Mallard and Sharon Kelley. 

Michael worked as a construction superintendent.  He was always busy and would help others before he would help himself.  He was especially generous with his family and was a loving and caring husband.  An outdoorsman, Michael loved hunting and fishing. 

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife:  Mariam "Shelly" Mallard of Odessa; father:  Amos Mallard; mother:  Sharon Kelley; sons:  Rusty Kight, Joshua Mallard and Robin Swilling; daughter:  Danielle Thiebaud; brothers:  Aaron Mallard and Petie Mallard; and eight grandchildren:  Joleigh, Evan, Ryleigh, Paxton, Ryder, Maddox, Cameron and London.

Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Friday, October 20, 2017 at Crossroads Fellowship Chapel.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Joe Hernandez Flores
Joe Hernandez Flores, age 57, of Odessa, passed away as a result of a tragic accident on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Joe was born in Phoenix, AZ on October 22, 1959 to Perfecto T. and Epifania (Hernandez) Flores. Joe married Ana Maria Orona in Odessa in 1985.

Joe "Boy" as he was lovingly referred to by his family and friends, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a great friend to anybody that knew him. He was a hard working man that always provided for his family. He loved life and lived it to the fullest and had a smile that would light up the sky. He was so funny and found humor in the most serious situations and always made people laugh. We love you with all our hearts and may you Rest In Peace.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife: Ana Flores of Odessa; sons: Joe Flores Jr. and wife Melina, and Joedavid Garcia, all of Odessa; daughters: Anabell Flores and Isabell Soto and husband Jesse, all of Odessa; five brothers: J.R. Flores of Little Rock, AR, Paul Flores of Atwater, CA, Florencio Garcia of Merced, CA, and Raymond Flores of Odessa; five sisters: Yolie Flores of Odessa, Virgie Alonso of Merced, CA, Cookie Jaramillo of Odessa, Ofie Orona of Little Rock, AR, and Sally Flores of Odessa; twelve grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Ramon and Alex Flores.

Per Joe's wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
Guillermo Arevalo Gomez Jr.

Guillermo Arevalo Gomez Jr., age 60, of Lamesa, TX passed from this life on Saturday, October 14, 2017. He was born in Lamesa, TX on December 28, 1956 to Guillermo Gomez and Enrriqueta Arevalo.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: Guillermo Enrique Gomez; daughter: Jacqueline Gomez; mother: Enrriqueta Gomez; brothers: Alfredo Arevalo and Jerry Gomez and sister: Becky Sanchez.

He was preceded in death by his father: Guillermo Gomez.

Our little angel, Cayde William Blackard was born on Sunday, October 15, 2017 and whisked away to the arms of Jesus in Odessa on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memories are his parents: Davin Blackard and Rebecca Porter; brother: Iden Lee Blackard; paternal grandmother: Cheryl Chase Blackard; maternal grandparents: Lance and Shellie Lake Porter; uncles: Preston Blackard, Duncan Saxey, Matthew Porter and Christian Porter and aunts: Audrey Blackard, Makayla Blackard, Mari Saxey, Sydnee Garcia and Alexandra Porter.  

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: James Michael Williams.

Donna R Haynie
Donna Renee Haynie ~ June 16, 1964 to October 17, 2017

Donna Renee Haynie passed away on October 17, 2017, at Medical Center, in Odessa, Texas. Donna was born in Odessa and went to school and trained to be an LVN at Odessa College. She raised two sons, Jarrett and Keevin Cope, and was very proud of her sons. Donna worked as an LVN for over 20 years and took care of her patient’s needs with expertise, in both Houston and Odessa, Texas. 

She is survived by two sons; Jarrett and wife Amanda Cope, and 3 grandsons from Church Point, Louisiana, and Keevin Cope and wife Zsanae’ and grandson and granddaughter from OAK Harbor, Washington. Her father, Raymond Haynie and mother, Carolyn Haynie, her brother Duane Haynie and his wife Lisa, her Uncle Ron Haynes, and Aunt Patty, Uncle Larry and Aunt Donna Haynie from Stephenville, Texas. 1st Cousins, Suzy Irby, Cheryl Autry, Shaunda Hinton, Angela Wilson, Annette Homsey, Reagan Hall, Ashley Haynie, Johnean McAndrew, Jerri Blakely, nieces Gabrielle Fox, Brittany Haynie, Caitlin Haynie, and  nephew Cody Haynie. 

She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Jeanette Haynie, and her Aunt Sharon Thornburg.

Donna chose to not have a service and her sons will do as she had requested.

Juan Reyes Castro

Juan Reyes Castro, age 60, of Odessa, passed away in Big Lake, TX on October 21, 2017.  He was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico on January 27, 1957 to Lassero and Juana (Reyes) Castro.  He married Maria Guadalupe Nunez in Odessa on December 18, 1975. Juan worked for Select Energy. 

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Maria Castro of Odessa; two sons: Johnny Castro and Ruben Castro; daughters:  Diane Alvarado and Elizabeth Castro; brothers:  Ramon Reyes Castro and Lorenzo Castro; sisters:  Amelia Castro and Paula Castro; and eighteen grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiate by Fr. Frank Chavez.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Michael Claude Spoon

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery for Michael Claude Spoon, age 56, who died Saturday, October 21, 2017 in his home.

Pastor Russ Nebhut of Asbury United Methodist Church will conduct the funeral service.

Survivors include his brother Richard Spoon and wife Rachel of Lafayette, Louisiana; His two nieces and two nephews, Samantha, Jackson, Lillian and Gentry Spoon of Lafayette, Louisiana;
his Aunt, Pauline Pendleton of Breckinridge, Texas, and a host of loving cousins, and second cousins. 

His parents, Marvin and Patsy Kate Spoon, preceded him in death. 

Michael was a native of Odessa, Texas and graduated from Permian High School.  He attended Texas A & M where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering.  Michael was an “Aggie” to the core! He later returned to Odessa to care for his parents. 

Blanca Gamboa 2017
Blanca Urias de Gamboa

Blanca Urias de Gamboa, age 59, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on Wednesday, August 20, 1958 to Nieves Samaniego and Efigenia Urias.

Blanca was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She always put her kids and others before herself. Blanca was very strong and had beaten cancer with 13 years in remission. She was very stubborn but also very caring. Blanca would help anyone with no expectations in return. She loved visiting and eating with her friends and was very fond of her sweets. Blanca also enjoyed shopping, gardening and watering her plants.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Jose Gamboa; son: Jose Gamboa Jr.; daughters: Evelyn Maltos and Stephanie Gamboa; brothers: Ricardo Samaniego, Concepcion Samaniego Urias, Iram Arturo Samaniego Urias and Nieves Samaniego Urias and Agustin Nieves Samaniego Urias; sisters: Amabilia Samaniego Urias and Mayra Samaniego Urias; as well as one grandchild: Nikol Maltos.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law: Luis Maltos.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Odessa Garden II section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Sidney Faye Armentrout

Sidney Faye Armentrout, age 65, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Sunday, October 22, 2017.  She was born April 17, 1952 in Odessa to the late Clarence and Lydia (Vaughn) Wallace.  Sidney worked as an administrative secretary for Automotive Performance Specialists for 40 years.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  James Glenn "Jim" Armentrout; son:  James Armentrout; daughter:  Julie Katherine Armentrout-Evans and husband Thomas; sister:  Lydia Katherine Apollo; and three grandchildren:  John Anthony Minjariz, Madison Taylor Arementrout and Dillon James Armentrout.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
