Augustine Gomez Sr.

Augustine "Augie" Gomez Sr., 60, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 in Midland, TX. He was born Saturday, October 19, 1957 in Odessa, TX to Juanita Samaniego Gomez and Julian Pacheco Gomez.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his father: Julian Gomez; one son: Augustine Gomez Jr.; three daughters: Celestine Trujillo; Bernadette Hernandez and Estodia Hernandez; three brothers: Antonio Gomez; Israel Gomez and wife Elia and Joe Alfred Gomez and wife Patricia; one sister: Alicia Garcia and husband Rudy; three half-brothers: Julian Gomez Jr., Johnny Gomez and Joel Gomez; half sister: Janave Neufeld and four grandchildren: Marcus and Nathan Orosco, Allison Rios and a little one on the way; and eight other grandchildren from his step-daughters.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Juanita Samaniego Gomez; his daughter: Valerie Gomez and his brother: Lawrence Gomez.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Odessa Bible Church, 2110 E. 10th Street, Odessa, officiated by Brother Bob Thayer. Interment will follow at Odessa Gardens II section of the Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Irene Lillian Banks

Irene Lillian Banks, age 92, of Odessa, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.  She was born in Dewey, OK on November 18, 1924 to the late Earnest "Brownie" Brown and Helen (Biggs) Brown.  Irene was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary.

Preceding her on her heavenly journey are her parents; husband:  William Henry "Whistle" Banks; and her siblings: Daisy and Bill.

She is survived by her son: Jerry Banks and wife Priscilla; daughter:  Vicki Jones and husband Tom; five grandchildren:  Jonathan and Jennifer Banks, Joann, Julie and Shaun York, Casie and Ronny Gall, and Kelly and Chad Mapp; and great-grandchildren:  Kiley, Jordyn, and Jackson Banks, Katelyn, Lily, and Luke York, Tyler, Alexa and Laci Gall, and Alexina Mapp.

Services will be privately held.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Mireta Brandstetter Burns Woodward
Mireta Brandstetter Burns

Mireta Brandstetter Burns, age 74, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. She was born in Gorman, TX on March 22, 1943 to the late Milton Eugene Brandstetter and Carmleta Nora (Bible) Brandstetter.

Mireta loved plants, flowers and gardening. She had a green thumb and owned her own garden center and flower shops “Flower Shack” and “Yours Florist”. Mireta also enjoyed painting, making crafty stuff, genealogy and scrapbooking.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Jimmy Dale Burns Jr. and wife Anna Coffey Burns; daughter: Mireta “Sissy” San Miguel and husband Ruben; brother: Raymond Eugene Brandstetter and sister: Joyce RubyLee Brandstetter; as well as 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband: Jimmy Dale Burns; her second husband: Robert Woodward; sons: Carey Lee Burns and Randy Gene Burns; sister: Yvonne Brandstetter and grandchild: David Bynum.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Los Angeles section of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Mike Bartlett. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Gregoria Dominguez
Gregoria Moreno Dominguez

Gregoria Moreno Dominguez, age 77, of Snyder, TX passed from this life into eternity on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.  She began her earthly journey in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on March 12, 1940, born to the late Jose Y. and Ricarda (Ramirez) Moreno.  She married Juan Dominguez in Odessa, TX in 1961 and they enjoyed 56 wonderful years together.  She was a homemaker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Juan Dominguez of Snyder; four sons:  Juan Calbillo, Baldomero Calbillo, Hector Calbillo, and Robert Calbillo, all of Odessa; daughters:  Gloria Sanchez of Odessa and Marylou Treviño of Lubbock; one brother:  Angel Moreno of Odessa; eighteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Gregoria loved her children and cherished the time she got to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her greatest treasures were her beloved Jennifer, JIm, Isaac, Jenesis, Leslie and her Torrie and Khloe.  Her love for her Savior and her family is unmeasurable.  Her faith will keep us together.  We love you Wella!

In addition to her parents, Gregoria is preceded in death by her brother:  Antonio Moreno and one sister.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Pastor Samuel Lopez.  Interment follows at Odessa Gardens II of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West.

Ricardo Carrasco
Ricardo Hernandez Carrasco

Ricardo Hernandez Carrasco, age 77, of Odessa passed away after a tragic car accident in Odessa on October 26, 2017.  He was born in Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico on April 3, 1940 to the late Fidel and Trinidad (Hernandez) Carrasco.  He was an insulation supervisor.

He is survived by his wife: Corina Carrasco of Odessa; sons: Esben Carrasco of Odessa, Daniel Carrasco, Freddy Carrasco and Ricardo Carrasco and Esben Galindo, all of Presidio, and Neri Carrasco of Ojinaga, CH, Mexico; daughters:  Trinidad Tercero Carrasco of Presidio and Marina Rodriguez Carrasco and Lupita Carrasco, both of Odessa; brothers:  Manuel Carrasco and Rosendo Carrasco, both of Ojinaga, CH, Mexico; sister:  Herminia Carrasco of Deming, NM; thirty-nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rosary and funeral mass will be in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Burial will follow on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Desert Hills Cemetery in Presidio at 1:00 pm.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

William John Mogensen

William John Mogensen, age 66, of Odessa passed from this life on Friday, October 27, 2017. He was born in Bancroft, Iowa on July 5, 1951 to John and Ruth (Berhow) Mogensen.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his beloved wife: Amy Mogensen; mother: Ruth Campbell; son: Jeremy Mogensen; brothers: Rick  Mogensen, Mark Mogensen, Craig Mogensen, Gary Mogensen, Randy Mogensen, Ken Mogensen and David Mogensen; sisters: Linda Hogan and Victoria Goodall; as well as 2 grandchildren: Cameron and Kyle Mogensen.

He was preceded in death by his father: John Mogensen.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 1750 E. 87th Street in Odessa. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Mildred Campbell Rawls
Mildred Louise (Campbell) Rawls

Mildred Louise (Campbell) Rawls, age 87, of Odessa, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa on Friday, October 27, 2017.  She was born in Burkett, TX on January 13, 1930 to the late John Breckenridge Campbell and Florence Louise (Moore) Campbell.  Mildred married Clayton Noel Rawls August 17, 1956.  After 38 years together, he preceded her in death on October 31, 1994.  She worked in insurance.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her son:  Jimmy Ray Campbell and wife Melodee of Amarillo; brothers:  Billy Joe Campbell of Stamford, Kenneth Edwin Campbell of Haskell, and Jerry Wayne Campbell of Odessa; sisters:  Billie Ruth Alston of Tyler and Betty Sue Lacey and Virginia Faye Cruger, both of Odessa; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew; and her very dear friends:  Kathy Lightfoot and Mickey and Nell Luedke, all of Odessa.

In addition to her parents, and Mr. Rawls, she is preceded in death by three brothers:  Carl, Chuck and John Campbell.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Saturday, October 28th.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Westover Baptist Church, 2540 N. Torrance Ave. Odessa, TX, officiated by Brother Terry Wright.  Interment will be at 2:00 pm the following day, Monday, October 30, 2017, where she will be laid to rest beside Clayton at Burkett Cemetery in Burkett, TX.

Samuel Ralph "Smokey" Brown

Samuel Ralph "Smokey" Brown, age 70, passed away at his Odessa home on Friday, October 27, 2017.  He was born in Chico, California on Friday, August 22, 1947 to the late Jay Gilbert Brown II and Patricia Helena (Kelly) Brown.  He was a truck driver and a US Army Veteran. 

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his daughters:  Misty Dawn McDuffee, Kimberly Ann Cheek, Angie Fannin and Tracy Jean Brown; sons:  William Cody Brown and Christopher Beau Brown; grandchildren:  Ashton Edwards, Kami McDuffee, Keera Cheek, and Brittany, Kaitlyn, Aarron and Zach Miller; great-grandchildren:  Zachary and Jacob Soto and Alyson, Alayna and Claire Miller; and special friend:  Yvonne McDuffee.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother:  Jay Gilbert Brown III and sister:  Patricia Gale Higbee.

Memorial services with military honors will be at 4 pm on Saturday November 11, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Larry Hood.

Ernest Gainey
Ernest J. Gainey

Ernest J. Gainey, age 88, of Odessa, passed from this life on Sunday, October 29, 2017.  He was born in Canterbury, SC on September 26, 1929 to the late George W.  and Maybelle (Poston) Gainey.  Ernest married Laura Funderburk in South Carolina on July 12, 1959.  He was a service station mechanic and a US Air Force Veteran.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Laura Gainey of Odessa; son:  Ray Gainey of Odessa; daughter:  Cathy Gainey Keesler and husband Tim of Belmont, NC; two grandchildren:  Elizabeth Sain and Iva Dawn Helms; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, daughter:  Bernice; brother: Al and sister:  Emma, all precede Ernest in death.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Full Gospel River of Life Church, officiated by Pastor Don Herrington and Assistant Pastor Chad Williams.

Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Teresa Quezada Corral

Teresa Quezada Corral, age 60, of Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico passed away in Midland, TX on Sunday, October 29, 2017.  She was born at Rancho la Virgin, Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico on October 15, 1957 to the late Antonino Quezada Pallares and Maria Corral Lara.

Survivors are her husband:  Miguel Angel Martinez Romero; sons:  Cesar Quezada and Luis Miguel Martinez; daughters:  Maria Elena Quezada, Corina Quezada, and Aracely Martinez; siblings:  Hermelinda Hinojos, Petra Quezada, Jose Quezada, Oscar Manuel Quezada, Lorenzo Quezeda, Juan de dios Quezada, Socorro Quezada, and Alfredo Quezada; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at a later date in Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico with interment to follow at Placer de Guadalupe Cemetery.
