Joe Canady
Joe Ervin Canady

Joe Ervin Canady, age 65, of Odessa passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.  Joe was born in Odessa on Saturday, December 29, 1951 to Irvin Joe and Betty Canady.  He married Ema Lara in Andrews on February 8, 1988.  He was a foreman for ECISD.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his loving wife: Ema Canady; sons:  Marcus Canady and Joseph Canady; brothers:  Paul Canady and Milton Canady; sisters:  Cathy Canady and Carol Scott Canady; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Wanda EuDora “Dora” Ray

Wanda EuDora “Dora” Ray, age 84, of Odessa, TX passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born May 21, 1933 in Hempstead County, Arkansas to the late Dewey and Delilah (Flowers) Ray.

Dora graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1951. She worked at Odessa Camera Center for 34 years, from April 1957 to September 1991. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.  In 1991, she moved to Longview, TX, where she lived until 2012.  She was an active member of Greggton Missionary Baptist Church, and spent many hours helping with activities at a nursing home.  Dora returned to Odessa in 2012 and joined Westover Baptist Church.  She enjoyed taking pictures of her family and friends and loved photography.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her nephews: Michael R. Wright and wife Kay, Terry Wright and wife Peggy and nieces: Donna M. George and husband Tim, and Jodie Comerford and husband David.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Dewey Edward Ray and sister: Alma Jean Wright; and nephew: Dewey Edward Ray Jr.

Family visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Anderson Cemetery in Hempstead, Arkansas. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Bobby Carl Bluntson, age 52, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was born Tuesday, May 4, 1965 to Ella Mae (Brooks) and Willie Bluntson Jr.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Marcie Zuniga Bluntson of Odessa; father: Willie Bluntson Jr. of Elmgrove, TX; two sons: Bobby Bluntson Jr. and Joaquin Ray Zuniga both of Odessa; two daughters: Candice Marie Green and Hattie Jo Green both of Odessa; three brothers: Willie Bluntson III of Garwood, Clifford Bluntson of Killeen, and Dewey Bluntson of Fresno; four sisters: Wilma Johnson of Garwood, Ella Johnson of Elmgrove, Beverly Williams of Wharton, Jackie Henderson of El Campo, and two grandchildren: Aubri’Anna Montes and Amiah Ariza both of Odessa.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Ella Mae (Brooks) Bluntson.

Family will receive friends 7:00 – 9:00 PM Friday, November 17, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 6:00 PM, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Armando Nuñez

Armando Nuñez, age 36, of Odessa passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.  He was born in Big Spring, TX on August 14, 1981 to Gloria Jean "Maria" (Martinez) Nuñez and the late Marcos Nuñez.  He worked for Affordable Movers.

Armando always had a positive outlook on life. His high energy vibes, contagious laughter and his smile were inspiring. He was a constant problem solver. Family, that was his first priority. Armando had the opportunity to meet countless people and made a massive impact in the hearts of others. His legacy will forever and always be continued through the lives of his children.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Stephanie Jimenez Nuñez; mother:  Maria Nuñez; two sons:  Armando Nuñez, Jr. and Joey Nuñez; daughters:  Devanie and Angelica Nuñez; brothers:  Marcos Nuñez Jr., Michael Jacob Nuñez and Jose Luis Nuñez; four sisters:  Rosalinda Hernandez, Mary Helen Nuñez, Sylvia Lucio and Brenda Nuñez; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Odessa.

Prayer services will be Monday night, November 20, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel.  Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel.  Services are entrusted to Acres West.

Juanita Gomez Flores

Juanita Gomez Flores, age 73, of Midland, TX entered eternity on Thursday, November 16, 2017. She was born in Edinburg, TX on Sunday, June 25, 1944 to Pablo, Sr. and Ramona (Tobias) Gomez.

Juanita was a hard working woman and devoted housewife. She was a Christian and preached the word at Open Bible in Midland. Juanita was very helpful to others and her family was a priority. She enjoyed reading the Bible in her free time.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her beloved husband: Juan Flores; mother: Ramona Gomez; brothers: Jose Gomez. Ricardo Gomez, Ricky Gomez and Robert Gomez; sisters: Maria Luisa Gomez, Helen Gonzalez, Elda Hernandez, Antonia Aguilar, Emily Rodriquez and Rosalinda Gonzales; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father: Pablo Gomez Sr.; brothers: Paul Gomez, Jr. and Victor Gomez and sisters: Micaela Gomez and Annie Lujan.

Prayer services will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, Nov. 17th, Saturday, Nov. 18th and Sunday, Nov. 19th at Acres West 24 Hour Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 20, 2017 at Fairhaven Cemetery in Ackerly, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Nancy Helen Maberry
Nancy Helen Maberry, 68, of Midland passed away November 16, 2017 after a short battle with breast cancer.

Nancy graduated from Midland High School in 1968, attended Odessa college for two years and completed her education at the University of Texas-Austin, graduating with a BA in sociology in 1973. After graduating from UT, she went to work for the State of Texas investigating fraud welfare cases; traveling extensively. Nancy married Mike McMillan in 1976 in Austin and they had three children.

She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Lynne Johnson of Austin, her son, Joseph Michael McMillan of Midland, and her grandchildren, Jada Renee McMillan and Seth Michael McMillan of Houston and Kaleb Isaiah Stevens and Kailee Ciara Johnson of Austin, and sister, Janice Harrington of Midland.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Leigh Holly of Denver, CO and parents RJ “Bob” and Floy Maberry.

Nancy was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Midland. She was a kind and gentle person and had many friends that she cherished. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Dr. PK Patel and the nurses and staff at Midland Memorial Hospital. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Amanda Torres

Amanda Torres, age 61, of Odessa, TX entered eternity on Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was born in Van Horn, TX on Wednesday, February 15, 1956 to Arnulfo and Modesta (Munoz) Primera.

Amanda was a seamstress at Levis in Roswell for 12 years and also as a church administrator at The Agape Dream Center for the past 17 years. Amanda was a person that everyone went to for anything they needed, especially her church and family. She loved her grandchildren very much and enjoyed traveling and trying new things.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her beloved husband of 21 years: Billy Torres of Odessa; daughter: Rebecca Carrillo and husband Paul Carrillo; step-son: Timothy Torres; mother: Modesta Primera; sisters; Amelia Sailors, Rachel Primera, Stella Tenorio and Pamela Jimenez; as well as grandchildren: Patricio Baca, Paul Baca, Ysabella Torres and Mireya Torres.

Memorial services will be held at The Agape Dream Center at 1618 E. Murphy Street in Odessa at a time and date to be announced. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

James Monroe Seely

James Monroe Seely, 77, of Odessa, passed away, Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Odessa, TX. He was born Saturday, November 11, 1940 in Plainview, TX to the late Rosie Mae (Whaley) and Cecil Albert Seely. James married Betty (Nelson) Seely Tuesday, December 24, 1963 in Lubbock, TX.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Betty (Nelson) Seely of Odessa; one son: Randy Seely of Odessa; one daughter: Jamie Mitchell and husband Edward of Odessa; two grandchildren: Bridget Fulfer of Odessa and Jesse Mitchell of Virginia Beach, VA; and one great-grandchild: Allison Fulfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Ernest, Joe and Merle; and three sisters: Dorothy, Barbara and June.

Services will be held privately by the family at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Maria de Los Angeles Borunda Juarez, age 43, of Odessa, TX entered eternity on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. She was born in Coyame, Chihuahua, Mexico on October 9, 1974 to the late Alonzo Adrian and Teodora (Juarez) Borunda.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her beloved husband: Onesimo Leyva Hernandez; son: Jose Luis Melendez Borunda; daughters: Alicia Sapien (Miguel) and Alexa Janet Melendez Borunda; brothers: Oscar Tovar, Luis Aguilar and Jose Tarin; sisters: Lourdes Roque, Ivonne Roque and Guadalupe Borunda; as well as one grandchild: Michelle Ariana Sapien.

William Reginald Peterman, age 24, of Odessa, TX received his wings on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. He was born in Highpoint, North Carolina on July 7, 1993 to William Wallace and Penni Peterman.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: Nico Rickwartz; parents: father, William Wallace and wife Eureka and mother, Penni Cummings; maternal grandmother: Tamara Dessaro; sisters: Taneisha Correa (Jose), Shyan Peterman and Karina Johnson; brothers: Juan Wallace, Jamar Wallace, Keshawn Wallace, Sincere Wallace and Treavor Runyan; as well as nephews: Elijah Swint, Ethan Swint, Amor Correa, Amir Correa and Navey Runyan.

Roberto Hernandez 2017
Roberto M. Hernandez

Roberto M. Hernandez, age 79, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.  He was born October 20, 1938 in Piedras Negras, Mexico.  He was a welder.

Roberto was a loving father and grandfather and a devoted husband, who was his wife's adoring caretaker.  He loved to sing and was a faithful member of Iglesia de Poder y Restauracion.  The Lord and his church family were very important to him.  He was very loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Martha (Cano) Hernandez; son:  Robert Hernandez, Jr.; daughter:  Martha Elva Hernandez; three grandchildren:  Karinna Hernandez, Robert Hernandez III and Kelvin Williams; and three great-grandchildren.

His mother, Mercedes Mendoza, precedes him in death.

Prayer services will be at 7:00 pm Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Iglesia de Poder y Restauracion.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens of Ector County Cemetery.
