Arnulfo Carreno Gonzalez
Arnulfo Carreno Gonzalez

Arnulfo Carreno Gonzalez, age 77, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, December 18, 2017.  He was born in Mexico on July 18, 1940 to the late Ruben and Dolores (Carreno) Gonzalez.  He was self employed with M&R Janitorial Service.

Arnulfo is survived by his daughter:  Alice Reynosa of Odessa; son:  Paul Gonzalez of Mexico; sister:  Elena Gonzalez of California; three grandchildren:  Lorena Gonzalez, Karolina Cortinez, and Ekatarina Cortinez, all of Odessa; and two great-grandchildren:  Analy and Adaliz Sotelo.

Per his wishes, no services will be held.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Reneé Dawn Joy

Reneé Dawn Joy, age 76, of Odessa, TX was called Home on Monday, December 18, 2017. She was born in Baird, TX on April 21, 1941 to the late Claude Lee and Margurette Lanell (Miller) McKinley.  She married Ronald Joy on July 19, 1958.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Ronald Clayton Joy, Sr.; children: Creshia and Rolen Bailey, Ron Jr. and Tammy Joy and Corey and Mary Joy; brother: Johnny Thomas McKinley; grandchildren: Chris and Devanie Bailey, Ashley and Mike Lopez, Kerini and Nate Burns, Kara and Kyle Monde, Sarah Joy, Josh Joy, Eli Joy and Isabella Joy and great-grandchildren: Felicity King, Brandon and Hannah Lopez, Michael Lujan, Keegan Bailey, Kaitlin Monde and Kaylen Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Claude Lee McKinley and grandchild: Cody Bailey.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8:00 pm, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Dr. Byron McWilliams. Private Interment will be held in Fort McKavett.

Pedro Santoyo Cerda

Pedro Santoyo Cerda, age 78, of Odessa, passed away in Midland at Midland Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 18, 2017.  He was born in Salvatierra, Guanajuato, Mexico on June 1, 1939 to the late Placido and Guadalupe (Cerda) Santoyo.  He was a very faithful man who loved the Lord.  He served many years as a Deacon in the Catholic Church. 

His parents, his beloved wife:  Rosa Estela Santoyo, his daughter:  Yolanda Santoyo, and one brother:  Francisco Santoyo, all precede him in death.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his son:  Pedro Santoyo; daughters:  Rosa Lopez and Maria Santoyo-Dinkins; brothers:  Placido and Ignacio Santoyo; sisters:  Cuca, Eva, Rosa, Yolanda, Lydia, Guadalupe, and Martha; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2017.  Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, officiated by Deacon Flabio Franco.

Sylvia Arredondo Saucedo

Sylvia Arredondo Saucedo, age 69, of Odessa, TX entered eternity on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. She was born in Corpus Christi on February 8, 1948 to the late Erasmo and Clara (Molina) Arredondo.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her beloved husband: Rafael Saucedo; sons:  Jesse Mendoza, Gabriel Mendoza (Martina), Rafael Saucedo Jr. and Jason Turner (Denise); daughters: Clara Saucedo (Kenneth), Marcela Saucedo and Hazel Saucedo; brothers: Joe Arredondo (Sheryl), Ernie Arredondo (Martee) and Sammy Arredondo; sisters: Mary Lopez (Lorenzo) and Connie Foret; as well as 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Jerry Saucedo; brother: Edwardo “Bobby” Arredondo and one grandson: Christian Saucedo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Acres West 24 Hour Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held at Odessa Garden II section of Ector County Cemetery. Mavanee Jane Woods

Mavanee Woods, age 49, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. She was born in Pecos, TX on Saturday, August 17, 1968 to Cecil and Mavanee (James) Young.  Mavanee worked as a manager for Furrs.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her parents:  Cecil and Mavanee Young of Odessa; husband:  Terry Woods of Corning, AR; three sons:  Logan Woods of Odessa, Jesse Woods of Silver Creek, NV, and Jacob Woods of Corning, AR; and her brother:  Jerry Young of Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Rhonda Robinson.

Memorial services will be in the Multipurpose room at Sherwood Church of Christ at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 23, 2017, officiated by Brother Lynn Money.

Isidro Lujan Casias

Isidro Lujan Casias, age 66, of Odessa, passed from this life on Saturday, December 23, 2017.  He was born July 23, 1951 in Pueblito, Mexico to the late Albino M. and Cruz (Lujan) Casias.  He was a construction worker.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Elia Casias of Odessa; sons: Adrian Casias, Albino Casias and Omar Garcia, all of Odessa; daughters:  Angelica Muniz, Manuela Casias, and Angelica Garcia, all of Odessa, Elizabeth Arreola of Ft. Worth, Angela Garcia and Gardenia Garcia, both of Odessa; brother:  Arnulfo Sotelo of Ojinaga, CH, Mexico; sister:  Susana Casias Marquez of McCamey; thirty-seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife: Juanita S. Casias; two daughters:  Elvira and Elsa Casias; grandson:  Mateo Lujan; and his brother:  Manuel Casias.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Friday, December 29, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Nathan Tavarez
Nathan Tavarez

Cesar Nathaniel "Nathan" Tavarez was born in Odessa on April 4, 2003.  He departed this world and entered eternity on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa at the age of 14.  He was a 9th grade student at Odessa High School.

Nathan loved sports cars and video games.  He enjoyed watching "Fast and Furious" and playing "Watchdogs".

Nathan is survived by his mother:  Mireya Leyva of Odessa; father:  Cesar Tavarez of Presidio; grandparents:  Margarita and Alberto Tavarez of Presidio and Anna and David Leyva of Odessa; great-grandfather:  Reyes  Serrano Rodriguez of Mexico; two brothers:  Kevin and Justin Tavarez; sister:  Alondra Tavarez; and numerous cousins and extended family members.

A prayer service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Acres West at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Jesus Fierro.  Interment follows at American Heritage Cemetery in Midland County.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.  

David Lee Howe

David Lee Howe, age 68, of Odessa, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 21, 2017.  He was born in Austin, MN on December 10, 1949 to Leland George Howe and Kathryn Ruth (Krokus) Dennis.

He was a Navy Veteran.  David had worked for Winnebago for 25 years and for First Baptist's Odessa Mission.

Survivors include his step children:  Jeffery Howe and Andrea Howe; brother:  James Armbrust of Austin, MN; sisters:  Janise Borum of Monessen, PA and Marilyn Wakefield; and special friend:  Hugo Gonzalez of McCamey.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Saundra Binnion Belknap

Saundra Binnion Belknap, age 83, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. She was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on Sunday, June 3, 1934 to the late Lewis Chesley and Mamie Nancy (Turner) Binnion.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: David Belknap and wife Sheila, Mark Belknap and wife Debbie and Paul Belknap and wife Cynthia; daughters: Nancy Todd and husband Randy and Jamie Belknap; brother: Dayle Binnion and wife Wanda Jean; as well as 8 grandchildren: Amy Cook and husband Michael, Michael Belknap and wife Elizabeth, Lisa Belknap, Jenny Tilghman and husband Jimmy, Zachary Belknap and wife Carrie, Patrick Todd, Charlie Belknap, Morgan Belknap and wife Brook and great-grandchildren: Addison and Sadie Belknap, Eden, Nate and Arabella Cook and JJ and Dani Tilghman and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: James Harold Belknap; brother: James Binnion and sisters: Lecile Ernest, Eloise Cooper and Maxine Peterson.

Memorial services will be held Saturday January 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Maurice Lowe Simmons

Maurice Lowe Simmons, 85, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in Odessa. He was born Saturday, July 16, 1932 to the late William Harris Sr. and Mary Laura (Robertson) Simmons.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his daughters: Rebecca Bradford of Sanford, NC and Rachel Simmons of Odessa; brother: Joe Don Simmons of California; sister: as well as 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; brothers: Cecil Simmons, William Harris Simmons Jr. and Steve O’Rouke and sisters: Wynona, Glenda and Hazel Simmons.
