John Martin 2018
John Martin

John Martin, age 85, of Midland, passed away at Midland Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.  He was born in New Braunfels, TX on March 8, 1932 to the late Andres and Rosalie (Salmon) Martinez.  He worked for Albertson's.

John is survived by his older brother:  Larry Martin of Ohio and his niece:  Mary Medrano.

A Memorial Mass will be Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Midland, TX at 10:00 am.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Victor Manuel Garcia

Victor Manuel Garcia, age 54, of Fort Stockton, TX entered eternity on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on March 26, 1963 to Merced Gonzales and Senovia (Villa) Garcia.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his mother:  Senovia Garcia; son: Victor Lee Garcia and daughter: Janelle Garcia.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

ANNA MARIA M PARDEDS 2018
Anna Maria Muniz Paredes

Anna Maria Muniz Paredes, age 54, of Odessa, TX entered eternity on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. She was born in Pecos, TX on Friday, September 20, 1963 to Luiz and Isabel (Mendoza) Muniz. She was a 7th Day Aventist and loved her church  family very much.

Anna worked as a cook and cashier for ECISD at the Alternative Center, she never let anyone go hungry. Anna made a huge impact on all of the students she served daily and would give them advice as well as praying for them. She would always go out of her way for anyone. Anna was a happy woman and very much a jokester. She had special nicknames for everyone. Anna loved her nieces, nephews, children and grandchildren, they were her world. She enjoyed going to her “happy place’ in Candelaria with her family. Anna loved watching movies, dancing and listening to music.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Saul Paredes (Valerie Alvarado); daughter: Daniella Paredes Madrid (Alberto); mother: Isabel M. Muniz; brothers: Ramon Muniz, Manuel Muniz, Joe Muniz (Hermina) and Martin Muniz (Delia); sisters: Ayda Nunez (Reymundo), Adelaida Burciaga (Arturo), America Baeza (Faustino), Amy Muniz, Jesusita Mondragon (Victor), Alicia Dominguez (Joe Carrasco) and Betsy Dominguez (Omar); as well as 4 grandchildren: Saul Paredes, Aaron Madrid, Madalyn Paredes and Karina Madrid and special family friends: Rosalinda Baeza and Joe Rivera, who were neighbors that became her family.

She was preceded in death by her father: Luiz Muniz.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 9:00 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 201 E. 91st Street in Odessa on Friday, January 26, 2018 with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Elder Mario Baeza. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Saragosa Cemetery in Saragosa, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Sherry Lynn Jones

Sherry Lynn Jones, age 46, of Odessa, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.  She was born in Odessa on February 9, 1971 to Robert Wayne and Mittie Sue (Hancock) Jones.  She was retired.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her son:  Zachary Lee Milton Williams of Oklahoma City; daughter:  Jeannie Angelina Gonzales-Jones of Houlka, MS; her husband:  Onofre Gonzales of Houlka, MS; mother:  Susie Hancock Jones of Houlka, MS; father:  Robert "Bob" Jones and wife B.J. of Odessa; brother:  Michial Wayne Jones and wife Cynthia; and her sister:  Hattie Marie Nash and husband Michael; and her uncle:  Johnny Hankins of Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents:  Nelda and Hubert Frie, and Howard Monty Jones; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel , officiated by Brother Doug Doyle.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Michael Jones, Darren Cody, Jared Clanton, Jim McPherson, Ruben Rodriguez, Michael Nash, Zachary Williams and Brian Lester.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

The family invites friends to a reception following the funeral services at the West University Church of Christ, 10137 W. University Blvd. Odessa, TX.

Jimmy George Vanover

Jimmy George Vanover, age 75, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. He was born in Borger, TX on February 22, 1942 to the late George and Lucille Vanover. Jimmy was an avid golfer.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his beloved wife: Patricia Vanover; daughter: Belle McCallum Fletcher; grandchildren: Carol Jean Collins, Lauren Viscaino and husband Jacob, Ashton McKinney and Trina McCallum and great-grandchildren: Maeson Viscaino, Skyelyn Cooper, Aylea Eades and Lila Pughman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jimmy George Vanover Jr.; brother: “Pickle” Vanover and grandchild: DJ.

Family visitation will be held from 5-7:00 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 26, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Jackie Brem. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Elena Dimas Fierro

Elena Dimas Fierro, age 76, of Odessa, TX, entered eternity on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. She was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on January 30, 1941 to the late Carlos and Reynalda (Dimas) Fierro.

Elena enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crossword puzzles. She also loved visiting with her family and listening to music.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her brothers: Manuel and Victor Fierro; sister: Mary Brown and 13 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Eduvijen Fierro Munoz.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, January 29, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Odessa Garden II section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Joseph Raymond Phillipson, Jr.

Joseph Raymond Phillipson, Jr. age 48, slipped away into eternity on Thursday morning, January 25, 2018.  He began his earthly journey in Goshen, Indiana on May 4, 1969, born to Joseph Raymond Phillipson, Sr. and Lisa (Fields) Lambert.  He was an oilfield laborer.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his parents:  Joseph Phillipson Sr. of Mississippi and Lisa Lambert of Oregon; two daughters:  Victoria Vasquez and Kristen Vasquez, both of Odessa; brothers:  Joey Phillipson of Mississippi and Tommy Phillipson of Nebraska; sisters:  Chelsea Evans of Arizona, Ruth Stanley of Michigan, and Randi Nickel of South Carolina; two grandchildren:  Zaiden Marines and Axen Gardea; and friend: Lillian Kile.

He was preceded in death by three siblings:  Kenneth Stanley, Corina Hart, and David Nickel.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Larry Hood.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Allen Dale Owensby

Allen Dale Owensby, age 59, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Thursday, January 25, 2018.  He was born in Odessa on March 15, 1958 to the late William Ernest and Iva Lucille (Jennings) Owensby.   He was a truck driver.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his beloved wife:  Patricia "Pat" Su Watson of Odessa; daughters:  Crystal Buenger and Christina Yates; two brothers:  Rocky Hooper and J. J. Hooper; sister:  Juanita Buck; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  No services are scheduled at this time.   Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West.

Gloria Irma Ramirez, age 57, of Odessa, TX entered eternity on Thursday, January 25, 2018. She was born in Juarez, Mexico on Friday, December 30, 1960 to the late Manuel and Gloria (Vega) Ramirez.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her beloved husband: Ramon Holguin; son: Jaime Ramirez; daughter: Ashley Holguin; brothers: Jose A., Javier, Carlos E. and Manuel A Ramirez and sister: Margarita Ramirez; as well as one grandchild: Zadrian Rey Tijerina.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, January 29, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Darnell Jones

Darnell Jones, age 55, joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 25, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born February 11, 1962 in Snyder, TX to the late Gerald Sparks Sr. and JoAnn (May) Sparks. 

Darnell met the love of her life Trevis Lee Jones of Odessa and married on February 14, 1998. They spent 20 wonderful years together. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, granny and most of all friend. To everyone that knew her knew her to have a heart of gold. She worked at All American Dodge Odessa/Midland for over 15 years. She loved to sit on her front porch on Sundays and have barbeque with her family and friends. She thoroughly loved being a Granny to her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her beloved husband:  Trevis Jones of Odessa; daughter:  Tiffany Patterson and husband James and their three kids; son: Justin Jones and wife Diana and son of Odessa; older brother Sandy Sparks and Joni Cross of Odessa and his two sons and five grandchildren; and her younger brother: Steven Sparks and wife Wendy with three kids and one granddaughter. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Gerald Sparks Sr. and JoAnn May Sparks and nephew: Bradley Sparks.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Daniel Arnold. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Elizabeth Fletcher 2018
Elizabeth “Lizzie Girl” Ann (Hall) Fletcher
Elizabeth “Lizzie Girl” Ann (Hall) Fletcher, age 58, of Odessa, TX walked into Heaven on Thursday, January 25, 2018. She was born in Levelland, TX on Monday, February 23, 1959 to Glenda Caswell and adopted by Ernest A and Lois (Lamb) Hall.

Elizabeth found Jesus at an early age. Her spiritual walk was rekindled and her fire for him led her to spread his word and help many people including herself, to change their lives through recovery. She was strong and full of fire. Elizabeth was an athlete in school, playing volleyball, softball and also Barrel Racing. She attended Odessa College after the age of 30 and studied Psychology and Sociology. Her smile could light up the room and she never turned down helping those in need, even after becoming handicapped.

Elizabeth married Jimmie Fletcher in 1974 and began their family which now includes. Three daughters: Angie Fletcher Barrientes, Ada Castillo and husband Eric, Lauren Fletcher and Ivan Lozano and one son Philip Fletcher. She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Romie Cabera, Tristan Castillo, Avie Lozano, Elva Castillo, Jakobie Castillo, Lexie Lozano, Brendan Fletcher, Ariana Barrientes and Aiden Barrientes, all of Odessa and her beloved dog: Sox. She was an only adopted child and was recently blessed to find all of her biological sisters: Rebecca Davee of Ft. Worth, TX, Jamie Caswell of Corsicana, TX Debbie Wheeler of Amarillo, TX and Shana Biddison of Big Spring, TX; sister-in-laws Cathy Fletcher Fisher of Odessa, TX and Tibbie Fletcher of Arkansas; brother-in-law: Ronney Fletcher of Odessa, TX and many AA brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law: Christopher Barrientes.

Family visitation will be held from 1 - 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, January 29, 2018 at Crossroads Fellowship in Odessa, TX. Burial will follow at American Heritage Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
